Hello,
i know this went around awhile back, but any recent cruisers notice the need for a passport?
I have a raised seal birth cert. and a photo Id (license) but with the new security measures is a passport needed?
I would hate to get there and have trouble.
Thanks!

To my knowledge, the only changes in allowable proof of citizenship were no longer allowing an expired passport, and requiring that a copy of a birth certificate be certified. I believe that you will be fine without a passport.

A passport with the pictures will set you back about 70 bucks for each passport.
go with the raised seal birth certificates and have more spending money for your trip.

Thanks for the quick resposes and You are right, they are $65.00 here and that would be times 2 for DH and myself. That is two half body massages.....lol
As long as we will be fine we will stick with the Birth Cert and ID.
Thanks again!

My husband has a passport and I do beleive we will get them for me and the kids before we leave. Not because of proof of citizenship but a memory item the kids will have. I would also like to do future cruises and think it will be easier. Also I have a problem with taking birth certs out of the house. If they were to get destroyed it will take me awhile to get them replaced... 5 people born in 4 different states.

while having a passport is nice, you don't get them stamped from the different ports. I believe my TA said there was no where on any of the cruises or cruiselines in the carribean that you could get your passport stamped.

That is correct.
