I have just figured out how to add a colored border to my photos, but the selections are limited. What i do, is add the border first then i drop my photo in it. But i would like to start trying something different for my borders. Is there a way to add the border when the photo is already in the layout? I wondered how i could add my papers as a background to the photo easily?
TIA

I'm not sure I'm totally understanding the question, but here's what i THINK you said: you're wanting to know how to add a border ONTO a picture when it's already in a layout? Meaning you're wanting to add some sort of grungy edging or something onto the photo itself, vs. like putting a colored mat UNDERNEATH the photo?? I use PSE 5, and I don't think a lot of others here do, so I'll try and help you out here....
Once you create your layout (file-new, etc), then you'll have a blank screen that's 12x12 or whatever. then you start dragging and dropping to add the layers of your layout. whether the layer is paper or picture, it doesn't matter. So if you wanted to, you could add a colored layer (let's say it's blue) on top of the photograph. If you wanted to just make that a border, I'd use the square or eliptical tool (looks like a dotted square or oval) and 'cut out' the layer that you want to be your border (the blue paper), by just making the square/oval whatever the size you want and hit delete, so that the photograph underneath shows through. make sense? probably not. :confused3 PM me if I lost you......or maybe never understood you in the first place? :goodvibes
