Full Hookup Site VS Preferred Site

Other than cable is there any major difference in these sites? DH and I are thinking about camping while there in Sept. and wondered if we really needed a preferred site. Can you receive any tv without the cable? There will be days when we won't want to stay at the parks as long as dd and her family will.

Cable is soon to be in all sites. The premium sites will have more concrete poured and a smaller sand pad if one at all. The premium sites are going to help with the larger RVs with multiple slides.

We just got back from our trip this morning and were in a full hook-up loop. We used our bat-wing antenna on the TT and were able to receive all the local channels. For those not local they are:

2 - Local NBC Affiliate
6 - Local CBS Affiliate
9 - Local ABC Affiliate
15 - Daytona Beach
18 - WB 18
24 - PBS
27 - WRDQ
35 - Local FOX Affiliate

There are some other stations, but these are likely the ones you'll use most.

All the sites that are not premium will be prefered. There will be no just "Full Hookups". I think the change over will be complete by September, but I'm not sure about that.

we have been in both and prefer the full hookups, even though they won't be there much longer...

we have direct tv, so if we can't get the satellite through the trees, we wing it with the tv antennae

i just don't think it is worth the extra money

Speaking of TV. We got our two digital converters through the coupon program and added one of them to the television in the camper. WOW!! What an improvement. The antenna on my camper is a piece of crap and I could barely get anything on regular television. I added the digital converter and I'm now getting all of the digital channels and they are bright, crisp, and come in great!!

(FYI, I ordered the converters from the online source listed on the flyer that came with the coupons. Including shipping, both converters came to $20.00 total).

We choose the preferred sites because of location. They are the ones closest to the transportation and since we don't pay out the nose for a golf cart AND we just NOW bought one:thumbsup2 they are the ones we have always preferred in the past. We like being close to the marina and the bus stop there and being able to walk or bike from most of the preferred sites with ease.

congrats on your golf cart purchase!! You are right.. the fort charged and arm, a leg, and my first born child for a 2 week rental!! DH said next time we visit we will have our own golf cart! LOL:thumbsup2

I don't know why I thought this. I knew cable would be put in all sites, so I guess I just assumed that it was free with the reservation. So you still have to pay extra for cable hookup above and beyond the site charge? I really need to figure out how to get a satellite signal. We'll get real tired of just watching DVDs for two weeks.

How do you go about doing the satellite thing? Maybe I should ask this in a new thread.

Anne, if you currently have Directv or Dish at your home you can certainly take that receiver along with you in your camper. You will need a portable dish and other things that are fairly easy. I think Directv will give you the stuff you need, go to their website and check it out. There is a lot of information on this at RV.Net forums under the "technical" heading. It's pretty cool getting your satellite signal anywhere in the country. Good luck.

Poop. We have Verizon cable right now. Maybe that will change.

I have an old receiver from when we had Dish that they never picked up. I'm assuming I can't get service through it, though.
