Well, 1 whopping pound this week. I'm down 8 total, but disappointed in myself that last couple weeks. It has been really hard, there is so much going on. This weekend my baby graduates high school and I know we will be going out to celebrate. We told him he could pick wherever he wants and now found out 2 of his friends were told they could do the same thing. They are now working together so we can all go out to the same place. I know it's going to be dangerous when we all get together. :drinking1

I just got back from my Personal Trainer appointment. I'm exhausted. She tried killing me.
Since my first main goal is to lose weight, she put me on an intensive cardio program. I do the treadmill, uphill, 3.9 mph, for 20 minutes. Then, stationary bike for another 20 minutes at 15.5 mph.
Then, I do the upper body torture devices (I mean, weight-resistance machines) every other day, and the lower body torture devices every other day.
Then I die. :faint: But hopefully, I die a thinner person. ::yes::

Wow! I'm doing good if I just do 5 days. I really do need to start doing those torture devices again though, it really makes a difference.
If you haven't done weights in a while, DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) will probably set in and will try to make you change your mind, but after the first couple of weeks of weights, your body will adjust....just hang in there. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear you all are doing well with your losses! No such luck here. We went to the Outerbanks (NC) :beach: and Eastern Shore Virginia for a very long Memorial Day weekend. Although I lost nothing, I didn't gain either. But I didn't kill myself being strict. So, I can only blame myself for the stand-still. I'll try harder this week...
Nicole- Hope your DH is doing better. I'm praying for your family.

I'm starting my old army workout -- 1.5-2 hours 3 days a week and an hour on the bike twice a week (unless it snows). When I retired (from the army) and didn't have to prepare for PT tests, I gradually stopped working out and gained weight. I'm now 230 and 6'1". I want to get to 200, but 210 would be great too! If my knee was better I would run, but not in the cards now -- the doctor says if I run with it I'll just have to have it replaced again much sooner.
I've lost 4 pounds in the last week.
PS My killer is snacks and beer not necessarily in that order.

You're exactly where my DH is now. He's 6-1 and 230 pounds. He wants to get down to 205. He's doing very well! He's on his bike at least every other day, and he's lost about 20 pounds already! (I hate him) lol

Rhonda,
We stayed in the campground in Oregon Inlet, right across from the marina. I think it's a state campground? $20/night. NO hookups. Totally dry camping. Nice place besides that. We were only there Friday and Saturday. The beach was gorgeous. I couldn't believe how many people were in the ocean even tho the water was freezing cold!! I was definitely not one of them!
We didn't see any wild ponies. But I did get to see the inside of a couple great outlet stores!! Thankfully it was raining Sat morning so we got to do a little shopping too!! My birthday present to myself! ;)

I weigh on Mondays but since we were camping last Monday, I weighed on Tuesday....bad mistake! We had Chinese food Monday night on our way home and the sodium in that meal added 5 pounds of water retention:eek: . I went back to my regular eating habits and lost the last of those 5 pounds yesterday (weighing everyday since then). My overall loss was 2 pounds since Monday before last.

I haven't been here much, but haven't done too well this week. I actually weigh every morning and for the last month have been hanging pretty steady, but have gained a pound or two this week :worried:
Haven't been able to stay away from the candy jar. Plus it was pouring down rain all day Tuesday and ordered a small pizza for delivery at lunch and ate the "whole" thing.

can I join in?
I have been seriously trying to lose weight since Jan. 1st. I quit drinking soda cold turkey which was all I drank, morning noon and night. (that was tough) I have been working out to Richard Simmons ( I've tried other tapes, but really like him!) I have been way more active, so I'm feeling good about the exercise part- it's the eating- that's my main goal now. eating healthier and eating less:rotfl2: I have lost 11 pounds so far
Tent Camping Mom

Way to go! :thumbsup2 I like Richard Simmons too but I haven't watched his tapes in years. I love his enthusiasm and the fact that his workout group consists of "real" people...not the workout chicks in size 0 spandex.
Like you, I've given up sodas completely and eating healthier. I've been soda free for a year and 3 months now, not even a sip has touched my lips. Before that, I was drinking about 4-5 Diet Pepsi a day.
This week I've only lost a pound and I don't think I'll meet my goal before our cruise. At this point, I'm not as worried about making my weight goal, just more on feeling good and energetic. I'm going to continue to exercise religiously and TRY to cut out some more calories. I know I'll gain some weight on the cruise but if I'm physically fit, it won't seem as bad.

Can I join? I meant to join a month ago, but we've been making home improvements and I haven't found time to post. I have however been sticking fairly close to a weight watcher's diet.
History. 3/11/2003 I weighed 198 lbs.
I had a 4 month old as well as my older 2 boys. We had decided that we were done having children and I was so out of shape that I felt and looked horrible. My DH and I did Atkins and we each lost about 50 lbs in 4 months. I've done a pretty good job of maintaining, but I usually see my weight increase about 10 lbs over the winter months. Thankfully I am able to use our Disney trips as a motivator to lose those lbs. I'm doing quite well with only 4 more lbs to lose in the next 24 days. That will get me down to 140 lbs which is almost 60 lbs since the start of my story. My doctors would like to see me around 125 lbs, but I really can't see that happening. Maintanence is so hard.

I'm eating healthy...the only thing I allow myself is my one cup of coffee in the am but then I get the water retention.....i've got a lot on my shoulders right now and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed....i did get a tiny box of ice cream but shared it and had it over 3 days....helped my feelings a bit...my guest is staying an extra week in my TT with me as I work on the road, have a student to train and a house to remodel on weekends...Fri. night is going to be a girls night out...maybe that will get me feeling better and more motivated!! If anyone finds low carb stuff works well, this is what I do - have 1 cup of coffee with heavy cream in it when I get up. It feels satisfying so that I don't want to snack right away. Other things I eat that don't make me want to have sugar are plain oatmeal and carrots. Not together, LOL.
I'm a stay at home mom looking for a job so I've got access to the kitchen most of the day. I have tried to cut back on junk for the kids and have them eating apples and carrots in their lunches. It's hard for them to change too!
Another really hard thing is avoiding foods with high fructose corn syrup and Splenda/sucralose. It's amazing how many things have one or the other!

Gillian - Put a scoop of unflavored (or flavored) protein powder in your morning coffee. Depending on the brand it can give you 20 grams of protein and keep you full for quite some time. Look for the ones low in sugar. I use Unjury, which has its own website www.unjury.com. They have samples you can order so you aren't stuck with an entire container if you don't like it.
Here is a blog with different recipes for things that are reduced sugar/no sugar added. The woman had weight loss surgery so everything needs to be low in sugar. The recipes are scattered throughout her site so you may need to dig around some. She makes these awesome "bites" using a mini muffin pan and you can freeze them to use later. If you type in the word "bites" in her search engine then a whole listing of them should come up. Enjoy.

Thanks! That protein looks good. I am also trying to avoid soy (which is in everything!) so whey protein is the way to go.
Not using sugar substitutes makes it hard to low carb. You have to really get used to food tasting normal! But we eat fruit and that's sweet. I only eat certain ones but the kids like it all.

Congratulations! 3 pounds is fantastic!!
I'm going low carb and I love it!! But, I do eat foods with Splenda. It's the only sugar substitute that I like (and that doesn't cause cancer in laboratory rats, LOL)
Here's a typical low-carb day for me:
Breakfast: Cup of coffee w/heavy cream and an Atkins Advantage bar (on the way to work)
Lunch: Salad with lots of "stuff" in it (nuts, chopped veggies, feta cheese, olives, some type of meat like bacon and/or chopped chicken) with "real" dressing -- blue cheese, ranch, or italian
Dinner: Last night I had two hamburger patties with melted provolone, lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard, and pickles. I will do something similar with chicken breast or steak or pork chops. Oh yeah - pork chops & saurkraut is another of my favorites for dinner!
Snacks: Beef sticks/jerky, string cheese or cheese chunks, celery sticks with cream cheese, sugar-free yogurt, almonds or macadamia nuts, sugar-free Dove chocolate pieces. Obviously, I don't have all of those things in one day -- but usually two throughout the day, or late at night before bedtime.
I don't remember where I started the week on my scale, because I've been updating my ticker every day. I think I lost another 1-1/2 or 2 pounds though.

I didn't loose/gain anything either. But I'm ok with that because I haven't excercised at all, and I have eaten a lot of take out. I was expecting to have gained.
Looks like Jim is going to be in the hospital a lot longer than we thought, but I found a campground that isn't too far away. I will be bringing the camper down once the kids are out of school. That will help because we won't be eating out as much. And I can hook up the Wii.:thumbsup2 It is so convenient having a house on wheels.

I weighed this morning too since everyone else here seems to do it on Friday. I like what I saw....2 pounds down since Monday:woohoo: I think Friday is good because weekdays are easy to control eating and exercise.
And speaking of exercise, I've increased it to include swimming laps since the water is finally warm enough. Last night I swam 20 laps, which isn't as much as it sounds because our pool is only 40 feet long making it only about a quarter of a mile total. I plan to add 10 laps each week and hopefully by the end of summer I should be swimming a mile a day.

1 pound this week. That makes 9 total. I really need to get with it. Way too much going on for the next 4 weeks. I haven't been on the WII in over a week. I've been lucky to have 2 hours from when I get home until when I go to bed. Somehow those nasty chores like cleaning up or doing some laundry keep getting into those 2 hours. I will keep trying.

That means a bathing suit in front of my brothers in law and the skinny sister in law. Not to mention my 5' 11" 15 year old neice that ways all of 110 pounds soaking wet. I told her that i wasn't standing next to her at the park. I rented a shelter to hide in.

I got a bathing suit from silhouettes.com...no I think it was Roamans.com last summer, I don't know if they still have the style but it was very tasteful, the top is one piece and has good support without looking all bulky and gives you a lift ;) and the bottoms slips over the one piece and is long shorts, it's pink, navy very pretty.
I know I didn't describe it to well, but I've had three people at the beach last summer stop me and ask me where I bought it. So I'm very please with it. Get a pair of pink crocs and your set ( don't forget the pink sunglasses to set it off ). :thumbsup2
This is one that I've ordered as a back up suit :

well if that's you in the photo, you aren't a member of the fat club.
I was 38 pounds less in that photo last summer. I am female that photo was picked for a reason.
i call shenanigans on the false advertising.
For the record, she looks just the same as in that picture. I have no idea where she put any 38 pounds. Probably sent them to Blacksburg.....

Ok...this threads been making me feel guilty. Everytime I see a new post on it, I cringe because I havent been moving the scale very much, if any, at all lately!! Ive been in a really bad mood because of it as well......Ive been going through the "Im such a loser", "poor me" & "what am I doing WRONG" routine and just getting more depressed because THAT makes me realize how pathetic I really am, that I'll sit here whining about it instead of getting up and doing something about it!!!
Then...I really screwed up!!! I compared a couple of pictures side by side....Now I dont feel so bad!! So chances are I'll still do nothing, because misery is my only REAL motivation!!!
These 2 pics are just over a year apart...still fat and sweaty...but at least I can find shirts that cover my whole ballooga-sized belly!!!!

I absolutely would not worry about it Rog!!! You are doing great!! I would expect the 60 pounds you have left to take as long as the weight you have already lost. Staying healthy is the important thing, and also with large amounts of weight loss, slower is actually better, so you don't have as much loose skin.

I've done well and I've lost about 60 lbs and managed to keep it off with a whole lot of ups and downs along the way. My doctors tell me I still need to drop about 20 lbs, but that is so hard :faint: I will keep plugging along and only time will tell. I haven't been posting here because I've been so depressed about it!! The scale hasn't budged in two weeks. In fact, I think I'm even up a pound again!
What makes it worse, is DH has been just "watching what he eats" and has dropped 35 pounds in the last 3 months!! He's looking GREAT and everybody keeps telling him how good he looks. Meanwhile, my scale isn't moving and I'm really getting depressed. Then, the more depressed I get, the more I eat. :worried:

It is really hard to compare your weight loss with a Man's weight loss. My dh seems to be able to drop 10 lbs overnight and always loses quicker than I do. We've dieted together many times. The one thing that I keep in mind is that he also gains it back every time. He can lose by changing what he eats, but as soon as he stops watching what he eats he regains it and often more. Slow and steady wins the race. Knowing what causes you to eat and being able to anticipate those times will ultimately help. I am a stress eater so I keep snacks in the house that taste like I'm cheating, but in reality are 100 calorie snacks. There are some amazing chocolate covered pretzels or bite sized oreo snacks that taste heavenly, but aren't so bad. That way I can stress eat, but still stay close to on track. You can do it, keep your chin up :thumbsup2
ETA: Rog I think your weight loss is much different than a quick, watch what you eat type of instant weight loss plan. I really think you are doing an amazing job and with commitment you will continue. I just realized as I was cleaning the house that my post wasn't very male friendly and I didn't mean it that way. It is just my current experience with my dh. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone.

That's what this thread is for! Congratulating for the losses, but encouraging when the scale doesn't move or maybe moves in the wrong direction! By all means keep posting no matter what!!!! Otherwise, we will all fall back into the same ruts we've been in for years! Be honest, that's what's been happening, huh? I'm guilty of it too. I "found" myself eating M & Ms the other day...mindlessly. What I should have done was get on here and say "Somebody stop me!!!!!"
We are here for each other. We all have set backs. They are NOT failures! Just hop back on. Goodness! Look at Rog and My3Princess for encouragement! That too could be YOU!
It is Friday....official weigh in day. No, my progress isn't what I'd like it to be. But, I have taken off the weight I gained in Europe. I'm not really focused, there has been so much going on here lately. I am ready to get focused, though! Will you help me?????

When I started this weight loss journey I wanted to lose 140 lbs. I've only lost 26 so far. Now I'm not looking at the end total so much as smaller victories. Now I just want to get to 50 lbs. After that, I'll work toward 75, and so on. My SIL is a weight watchers leader and she claims that keeping the weight off is harder than losing it. Hopefully, someday, I will be able to say the same thing. For now though - this definitely ain't easy!!!!!

Okay.... this is it and I'm gonna need A LOT of help!!
I'm 54 years old.
I'm 5'7".
When nekkid and after the morning "duty", weigh 218.
I have high blood pressure - partly due to heredity, but mostly due to myself (on 4 meds for that)
I have high cholesterol (1 med)
I am diabetic - diagnosed 1 year ago (1 med).
My life style is virtually sedentary - except when I'm working at THD - but that doesn't accelerate my heart-rate - just makes my feet hurt.
When I was 21, I looked like this:
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj272/des1954/Deb-1.jpg
At the MDGG, I looked like this (and still do):
http://fatdaddy.smugmug.com/photos/302263689_dUsFT-S.jpg
I've been thru Weight Watchers so many times, I think I could be a leader!! I'm good at motivating others, but when it comes to applying the info to myself,,,, forget it!!
I know the tricks, the healthy way to eat, and all of that stuff. Why then, do I not just do it??? Sometimes, I think I have this "secret death wish"!!
Perhaps if I make myself accountable to my dis-board family (whom I care deeply about), this could just work for me.
Sorry for the long post. I've been meaning to get on board with this for a long time, but finally got up the nerve to do some "true confessions".

We can hold you accountable and give support, but the bottom line is that you need to find motivation deep inside yourself. Ultimately that is what will keep you on track. For me it was not wanting to embarass my kids by being the "fat" Mom at sporting events etc. I don't even think that my kids would think that way, but in my head they would and that was motivation enough for me. It is different for each of us and until you find that inner strength it is a futile battle. Good luck, we are here for support when your ready to begin.

Wow, I didn't know this existed! :yay:
I didn't have time to read through the 44 pages, but I figured I would introduce myself and list my goals and whatnot
I am 22, go to UF for grad school (go Gators ::yes:: ) and I am applying to Ph.D. programs currently (cross your fingers for me)
I went to the weight doctor (in CLearwater, FL: Dr. Lara) and was put on a strict plan!
They want me to loose 40 pounds but I want to loose 60, so we will see. I started yesterday so I have a long ways to go. We have a Fort trip coming up in August so I would be trilled to loose 15-20 by then.
I ride my bike to school, and plan on doing cardio at least 4 times a week.
As far as my diet goes, at first it is very strict, lean protein only and then I go into phase 2 where I can add more things. I am also on a weekly shot and some prescription diet meds.
So good luck everyone and I can't wait to hear about everyones progress :)
Here's my stats:
5'4
166 pounds
Doctor goal 120
My goal 100
Non smoker/drinker
I eat only organic products
Maybe I will post pictures later, we will see

We were down at WDW in January to watch my DD run the marathon. She did a 5K for a warm up two days before the marathon. We went to see here run one (along with her husband) in Burlington, VT in May.

I am 22, go to UF for grad school (go Gators ::yes:: ) and I am applying to Ph.D. programs currently (cross your fingers for me) The Ph.D. program makes you pretty amazing in my book! What's your major?
I went to the weight doctor (in CLearwater, FL: Dr. Lara) and was put on a strict plan! A friend of mine is currently going to the Dr. that came up with this plan & since February has lost 48lbs. It's expensive, but apparantly works. PLUS, she is learning how to eat healthy.
At your age Lucy, it is MUCH easier to get the weight off!! If you get things under control now, and train yourself to stick to a healthy life-style, you will avoid a lot of the problems us "oldies" encounter.
Start training now for the Disney 5K!! NTSammy5 is my brother, which would make his DD my niece. (Good deduction, huh?)
Are you going to UF in Seminole? I don't know if they have any kind of work-out facility there, but because you are a student, you would get a nice discount at the YMCA. Our "Y" in Lakeland is EXCELLENT!! It has an indoor and an outdoor track and plenty of equipment to accomodate the busy times. The ones in downtown Sarasota & downtown Tampa were also great gyms. Check it out and good luck to you!

Sorry Ami!! I didn't get a chance to get back on-line after you posted this!! I think ice cream every once in a while is ok. We have a brand here called Turkey Hill. They make a "light" recipe too. All of the flavors are sooooo good! And I feel a little less guilty because they're less fat and calories than the regular. Best part is that it really tastes like the regular!!! I do the same thing with popcorn - I just eat the 94% fat free if I really need some. Once you get used to the lighter versions they taste pretty good.

If it makes you feel better (I know misery loves company ;) ) I was very bad this weekend. I had way too much light ice cream and popcorn!!! Oh well, today is another day....
I had a lousy weekend for eating. We went to MILs house and there it is nothing but chips, sodas, white bread, bacon and sweet tea! I didn't eat a lot, but what I did eat was junk! I'm hoping it's my imagination, but my pants feel tighter today :scared1:
I actually feel like I am itching to exercise today!!!

Oh, please don't feel bad. I am sitting here eating a piece of DS's graduation cake. I have eaten soooo much food in the last four days. I am sure the 9 pounds I lost are probably back and just waiting to scream at me, WE'RE HERE!!!

I've had a rough few days here too. We haven't done much grocery shopping since we are trying to empty out the fridge before our trip. It's kind of eat what's available or starve. Since there are lots of snack available we've been enjoying those. So far the scale is cooperating, but it is only a matter of time. We are so excited and can't wait until Friday when we leave :cool1:

DH came home tonight with a coupon for Hooters, buy 10 wings-get 10 wings free - so we went there for dinner. Normally, I love Hooter's wings, but tonite they are sitting like a heavy weight in my tummy. Maybe God's trying to tell me something?
For breakfast I had 8oz F/F Peach Yogurt w/3/4c honey nut cheerios. Lunch, salad w/FF Ranch, and then Hooters wings for dinner. The wings weren't worth all the fat and calories. <burp!>

Good job everyone! I know how you feel about trying to eat what's left in the pantry, especially being a college student, I find myself doing that a lot. ::yes::
I weighed in today at the doc early because I have to go back to school early, but I lost 3 pounds in 2 days. I'm sure it's just water weight, but you have to start somewhere :)
My diet is super strict and since I am a picky eater, I have been eating a turkey dog for breakfast :rotfl:

Rog - She's under a Dr's supervised weight loss program. Strict diet & shots. I have two friends that have gone that route. IIRC the Dr that "invented" this system is in the Tampa Bay area. It's very expensive, but the results are amazing! A friend of Rick's - actually a former boss - lost 82lbs in 7 or 8 months. A friend of mine has been on the program since Feb/Mar and has already lost 48lbs. My understanding is that you eat a lot of lean protein and veggies - very little fat and starches - so it' more like South Beach Diet. That, coupled with the meds, brings results, and teaches you a healthy diet life-style. The real trick is keeping up with the life-style once you've obtained your weight loss goal. Just look at Kirstie Ally since she walked away from Jenny Craig!! Can you say "blimp"?

No, Des. answered your question perfectly. It is a very strict keitosis stage. As soon as I am out of that stage, I add in non-starchy veggies such as, green beans and selected fruits. Like des. said, I am on a weekly shot, and other prescribed medications. Then I go into another stage where I learn how to add in other foods successfully. In the Tampa Bay area, supposedly this guy is incredible and the office has been jam packed every time I go, so I hope my money is worth it; it's very expensive.

Welcome Deb and Lucy! Good luck with your programs.
Ami, your "yoga booty ballet" inspired me yesterday to get off my booty! I'm not much of an exercise person, but last night a friend and I decided to go walking. We did 1.6 mile. Hey, it's a start!
Deb, you would think $ would be a motivator. Unfortunately, I have been spending a small fortune on Medifast and not completely sticking with it!!
I lost 10 lbs my first week. 20 lbs total first month. If only it kept going like that... I guess if you eat enough "light" ice cream and popcorn, eventually it's not "light" anymore!! :lmao: I HAVE to get motivated again.

Deb, you would think $ would be a motivator. Unfortunately, I have been spending a small fortune on Medifast and not completely sticking with it!!
Two years ago I spent about $1400 on L.A. Weight Loss, (1 year program paid in advance and non-refundable) and did really good for about 4 months. I lost 38lbs...then... SKREEEEECH!!! I got totally PO'ed by being "told" what I could and couldn't eat. I was frustrated because the things I like to eat were off limits. Then....my DBro's youngest DD got married, flew to NY, ate & drank like it was my last weekend on earth.... bye-bye L.A.
Yes, I've gained it all back, but thankfully not any more than I lost.
For me, the WW Points system is probably the best because I can eat anything I'd like, but just have to count the point value per food item, and do some careful planning.
DSis-in-law's best friend (who I also went to high school with) has done an INCREDIBLE job on WW. In high school (37 years ago) she was very overweight and it only got worse as the years went by. Today??? She is skinnier than ever, looks and feels great & is keeping the weight off. When first I saw her after all her weight loss, my reaction was: "HOLY S##T, CHRIS!!! I had seen her two years previously & she was probably close to or over 300lbs - and she's all of 5'1". Then I see her and she was all of 120lbs, if that!!
If you're determined, I guess you can do anything!!
Lord...smite me with determination. Amen.

Welcome, Tinah159! :welcome:
Deb, I aree with you. I think you can do anything as long as you put your mind to it. WW didn't work for me as well because they allow you "extra" points to use during the week. It was too much temptation for me. I'm usually very disciplined the first month to 6 weeks of a diet. After that, I kind of lose my willpower and start to eat just a "little" off-program. Next thing you know, I'm totally off the diet and wondering what the heck happened to that willpower. That leads to me feeling horrible about myself, which then leads to me eating because I feel sorry for myself, and then gaining every ounce back, usually plus some!!!! You would think I wouldn't do this to myself anymore since I know that this is what I do!
I have decided this time around I'm gonna take it one day at a time, one meal at a time. If I fall off the wagon, just get back on. Don't wait for it to run me over! Dieting is one of the only things in life where we feel if we make one mistake, it's over. "Oh, no. I ate a cupcake. Oh, well. I might as well eat whatever I want now." Diet over. When else do we do that? If you get a ding in your car in a parking lot, you wouldn't say, "That's it. I'm not driving anymore."!!!! It's crazy!
I did manage to lose 1 lb this week. I started walking so that might be why. I am going to keep going though. Even if I have another few weeks where I lose nothing at all. I FEEL better even after only losing 27 lbs so far. It's really amazing. THAT'S what should be the motivator!!!
I hope all of you are doing and feeling well! Good luck everybody!

Just back from the cruise and I knew I would gain weight. Stepped on the scales yesterday and showed a 12 pound gain! :scared1: I'm sure a lot of it is water weight since I probably drank about 2 gallons of salty ocean water while snorkeling :sad2: On a happier note, I did stay active by biking Castaway Cay on both days on the island (they let us keep the bikes for 2 hours each day) and we snorkeled for two hours both days. The heat and humidity wasn't bad on Castaway Cay but Nassau was H. E. double hockey sticks! I'm sure I sweated enough that my body told me to hold on to as much water as possible after that. I'm still shedding the water, the scales said I was down 3 pounds since yesterday...definitely water. I'm having some hormonal issues now so I'm sure I won't shed it in a hurry. I'll give it until Friday and see what my actual weight is.

Way to go Carol, Ami, and Lucy! :goodvibes I didn't fair as well on my last vacation.
Good news is when I weighed last Friday, I showed a loss of 8 pounds of the 12 that I gained on the cruise...bad news is that I am 4 pounds over my pre-cruise weight and add that to the other 15 pounds that I want to lose and it seems hopeless. I'm so unmotivated right now...so much happening all around me and I can't do anything about it. So many people are getting laid-off here at work and it's heartbreaking. Ice that with tuition increases (at both my work and DS's school) textbook increases, parking permit increases, budget cuts, and the list goes on....sorry for the rant....where's that "angry" thread when I need it?

I haven't had a Paula Deen dish in quite a while. THAT woman knows how to make a tasty meal. Ever have her grilled corn on the cob? It's the way my DH requests it now! Slather corn with mayo. Roll in parmesan cheese. Sprinkle with chili power and a little salt. Wrap in foil and grill for about 15 mins. OMG is it good. How come I'm the one with the weight problem and not him?????

Last April when this thread started, I was pretty pumped up to get off the 15 extra pounds. I figured when we got back to kazakhstan, and AWAY from the ubiquitous American fast, convenient and fattening! food, I could concentrate better on losing it. Now that I'm here, I'm finding it just as hard. UGH!! They love to cook with HUGE amounts of oil, and visiting with friends and eating is just what we do here. I forgot that I have no scale here, so weighing in is impossible. I suppose I could go to the bazaar and weigh myself like a sack of onions, but that would be rather weird. Luckily, fresh fruit is in season now, and I can eat more of that. In fact, just getting to the bazaar and back home when it's 100 degrees outside should help me sweat off some anyway. :cool1: Anyone else try to lose weight without a scale?? Do you just sort of watch how your clothes fit??!!

To be honest, I am addicted to the scale, it's horrible! I get on it at least 3 times a day. I am trying to cut back lol. Mmm I bet food in kazakhstan is so delicious! I am going to the fort in a few weeks and really nervous about it!
I will do my update on Friday :) I go to the doctor tomorrow.

I'll be the first to report, since I'm about 10 hours ahead of you all, and it's already Friday here :) As I said before, I have no scale here, so I just have to monitor what I'm eating, and use the Fitday website to track how I'm doing. This week I really did well, eating an average of 1300 calories a day. I"M STARVING! Okay not really starving, but I'd love more to eat. Watermelons are in season here now! Mmmm, the sweetest in the whole world I think, so we've been getting one everyday. We only pay 15 cents a pound and by the end of the summer they will be almost free
Looking forward to seeing how you all did this week!!! Any new lite food ideas made from all scratch (no boxes or mixes of any kind here!)??? Tomorrow we're having gazpacho with hummus and fresh bread.

For me, no gain, no loss, just the same. Still need those last 2 pounds off for my mini-goal. It's been a hectic week and I only made it to the gym 3 days this week. I only swam laps once last weekend. DS had baseball practice every night as he's getting ready for All Stars so the drive-thru has been my deceptive friend :guilty:. I'm hoping next week will be better, if not, someone may have to light a fire under my butt!

I use fitday.com too! I love tracking my progress and setting goals there :)
I actually had a great week, I went to the doctor yesterday for my vitals/weight/etc. and had a great report!
I weighed in yesterday at the docs at 146! which means I lost 5 pounds since last Friday and lost a total of 20 pounds! YAY, that's my first goal :goodvibes
which also means that in a little less then 4 weeks I have lost 20 pounds, so this doctor I am seeing really works and is worth the money!
I find it a lot harder to diet when I am home in Clearwater/Dunedin and not at school because my family orders the most tempting things and we go out to eat every day. When I am at school, it's just me so I stick to it 100% I must imagine that you all with families must have it even harder! Especially i the rest of your family is not on a diet, I don't know how you do it. Kudos to you!! :thumbsup2
I am going to go running today on Dunedin Causeway to try and get some much needed cardio in.
My goal is to be at 140 by next wed (when I leave for Pigeon Forge) but that's pushing it! I just hope I can really keep it up because I know it's only going to get harder and harder from here on :(
I hope everyone is going to have a nice weekend, it's actually sunny here for once!

Wow Ashley! That's great! Amazing results! If I want to loose some pounds fast, I need to talk to you first!
Well, I did loose a pound....I'm not sure how, though! 16 to go! I haven't exactly been eating healthy! I didn't have time for dinner last night, so after I taught VBS I took my girls out for ice cream. Ice cream for dinner at 8:30 pm! Oh well. It was fun. It hit me last night that I've hardly had any water  . I guess I just haven't been eating too much, even if I'm not eating the right things.
I've been a little more concerned over my in-laws health lately than my own. Although, DHs uncle told me last weekend that I shouldn't loose another pound. I looked perfect already! Gotta love family! :lmao:

No change for me this week, but I haven't really given it 100% either. I got in a 2.5 mile walk last night, though. Well, the economy is definitely affecting me. I had to cancel my Medifast. Just way too expensive. So, I guess I will go back to measuring and counting points with Weight Watchers. I have all the info already so it won't cost me anything. No meetings, but I didn't have meetings with Medifast either and lost 26 lbs. But more importantly, I have all of you for support!! :goodvibes
Good luck to everyone. Hope you're all doing well.

Reluctantly reaching out to the group: I've been following this thread for a while and haven't posted since I've been how can I say it, vacillating on my commitment to weight loss. I have many excuses...economy sucks so can't buy "good" foods/drive to mall to walk/buy new clothes as needed/join the Y, raining so can't get outside to walk/swim, I'm old so my metabolism is slow plus what does it matter what I weigh as I am old like I said LOL, I'm tired of watching what I eat for so many years and love chocolate, I'm not that overweight, etc. I feel lame just writing this. Still, I know the adverse effects of the extra weight on your health, self-esteem and all that so need to work on this. Plus, my family could benefit from healthier eating habits and exercise too. Anyway, I have a goal of 20 pounds wt. loss. Weighed a few minutes ago and my start weight is 163#. I'll be following a modified weight watcher's plan in that I'll be aiming for 1800 cals./day of lowfat and high fiber (5 fruit/veg) and of course daily exercise. Oh yeah, forgot the daily water. I'm thankful if you got this far in my book. :)

Welcome aboard RNmomnFL! No need to feel bad, we have all been there. In fact, I have to light a fire under my butt again. If I would stop being such a wimp I would get in the pool and do laps, it would be a great way to excercise. The kids make fun of me, I still think the water is too cold. Anyway, I have been spending a lot of time catching up on everything I had postponed while Jim was in the hospital, and now I need to get back on board with my weight. I did loose 1 lb. this week, however I think I may have gained 2, so I guess I didn't really loose anything.:confused3

I am happy to report that those 10 pounds and then some are gone!!
I have officially lost a total of 50 lbs from my heaviest!!!
Ideally, I've got 36 pounds to go, but quite honestly, I can't afford the clothes to lose any more rapidly.
My goal now is to just stay healthy and don't gain it back, and perhaps slowly drop the rest over the next couple years.

I just got back from Boston for a family gathering of sorts. I thought I was going to be kicking myself over what I ate, but, honestly, I really ate sensibly. I didn't really even think about food either. I just ate when I was hungry and didn't eat hardly any sweets. We also went for a cheap little walk once (only a mile, but I guess it was better than nothing). I did eat a ton of those little clementines, however. We'll see what the scale says. Since Christmas last year I have lost 38 pounds. It has been a combination of walking more since I merchandise up to 17 stores a week. Some days I have no time for lunch so I buy some peanut butter crackers to snack on for lunch. Plus the more stress I am under I don't eat, I am the opposite of most people. I have lost 2 inches off my waist and gone from 3x to 2x on shirts. Lucky we kept alot of my old clothes boxed up.
My wife as started the Alli diet and she has lost 12 pounds in 2 months. It is frustrating for her that I was not realy trying to lose weight and I have lost alot and she is really trying hard and it is slowing coming off.

Welcome to the weight loss board! Congratulations on your losses! Please tell Mrs. Brumeiser that it is not fair, but men lose faster than women and don't give up. Twelve lbs. in 2 months is great! I wish I could do that! It seems that my get-up-and-go got up and went somewhere else. Probably hangin' out somewhere with my willpower... :rotfl2: (If I don't laugh, I'll cry.)

I gained a few pounds while at Disney. The weight loss has slowed down, I still have a while to go until my doctors goal for me.
Must get back on track for our next dis trip, still to be determined ;)

Fat people are harder to kidnap. I am doing myself a public safety by not getting thin.

they don't because i'm too difficult a target to kidnap...... besides, they'd only get about $40 in ransome money, not even enough to feed me for a few days. Maybe i need to buy crocoffs in case they try to shoenap them.

Be sure to keep the straps around your ankles, make it as difficult as you can. ;)

i don't care much for the straps, they require more work to get on and off, but then yes, if the terrorcrocs come trying to steal them and Al isn't around, the strap may save them.

Hey, don't knock the crocsnsocks, I wear socks with mine all the time. Of course, since my DD picked out the camoflauge style for me I don't worry about them getting shoe-jacked since nobody can see them!!

Hey, to each his own. I, myself, would not be comfortable making that fashion statement. But there's nothing wrong with anyone else who chooses that style. :goodvibes

Ok guys, I have driffted a bit this summer. I really was thinking I would do well. I didn't gain, but I only lost 2 lbs the entire time. So, I am officially getting back on track today. I am doing my Wii Fit and having a Lean Cuisine for lunch. If I can loose a pound a week I will be 8 lbs lighter for our trip. Not what I was really wanting, but it will be better.

We dont have Wii Fit, but man the Wii is a workout! We love the sports games! But my arms always hurt the next day. We always joke and say "I'm nursing my Wii Sports injury". I never dreamed playing a game would do that! :rotfl:

I'm just seeing this thread for some reason. :confused3 I've been working out/just being more active the past few weeks by walking 3 miles every night (need something to do while waiting for practice to be over), riding my bike and doing my total gym. At first it did nothing but I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 4 lbs since last week before vacation. :thumbsup2 I'll have to keep this up, maybe I can finally fit back into those clothes I wore before I got pregnant - although they probably aren't still in style I'll put them on proudly to wear while I go shopping for new clothes!!!

Ok. Lately I've been really slacking off, not caring at all what I'm eating. Well, it stops today......again. I decided to try WeightWatchers yet again. Seeing the pictures of Ami and Amanda really gave me a kick in the butt to get off mine again. I will not show up to the wild Dis women's weekend looking like this, so help me God!! (and boy, do I need a LOT of help! :scared: )
