I just wanted to thank the WISH team members for being there at the end to give me those great big sweaty hugs! I appreciate it... Yes I was last - actually 1795 out of 1796 (I guess one person dropped out) - but those at the finish line and along the course made me feel like I was first.
I will write a little bit of a race recap thing a little later - but I wanted to say thank you to those that really helped me finish today! Im not sure if the ladies that finished and came back to meet me at mile three so I wouldn't finish alone post/read here - but I want to send out my appreciation to them as well - you ladies were the best!

Kristina: A finish is a finish. Buddy Ryan(old NFL Eagles Head Coach) use to say" if you ain't the lead dog, the view never changes". If you don't when the race, everyone else finishes. You are like everyone else who got their medals. I wish you great luck in the future races:)

Kristina--Great job on your race!!!! You should be proud of yourself that you finished the race! It doesn't matter what place you came in, you crossed that line and got that medal, and it looks like you had fun in the process!! That should be all the matters!

Im feeling better about the "DLF" - my father in law told me tonight the only reason I was last was cause he didn't sign up. I'm happy to have my medal and I earned it - first or last.
Here's one of the pics from after the race - I told DH I wasn't taking the bib off until I had a picture with Miss Minnie...

Kristina - I just have to say congratulations on your 5k finish - it feels AWESOME to have that medal I am sure. I love the pic with your family and Minnie - how cute!! And I just have to tell you how your race report on the other thread made me tear up. It is so encouraging to see how helpful and polite the people in the running/walking community are. Not only where WISHers cheering you on - everyone was cheering you on. And be proud of yourself - you got it done and now you can look forward to your next race!!

You guys are all wonderful - thank you so much for the kudos... I thought I could do it before I went into the race- but I thought I could do it faster. I almost turned around twice. I did this for my dad who died in 2003 from a combination of heart disease and diabetes... I beat myself up about how slow I was going at mile one and mile two - I was SO mad with my pace... I seriously think it was him that got me through it. I was and still am so impressed and thankful to the ladies that came back and accompanied me to the finish line - I wish I knew who they were! Ok im blubbering - back to reading the boards! :)
Thanks again to everyone!

Kristina,
I saw you finish the 5K and I have to say, you didn't just finish, you finished STRONG. It takes a lot of courage to go out there and do something you have never done before. It takes even more courage to keep on going when you aren't going as fast as you thought you could.
I used to worry a lot about coming in last, but then I read a bunch of John Bingham's books - No Need for Speed, The Courage to Start, etc and got a whole new perspective on being the speed that I am.
Your children are adorable - I bet they are proud and impressed. You are setting such a great example for them, moving for your health and happiness and being a good sport as well. :thumbsup2

How great. :) You go there. I agree first or last you all got the same medal. It takes a lot to do a 5K. I've walked a 5K but there is no way I could do it at a 15 min/mile pace now or back then(Nov) so kudos to you for finishing.

Hi, Kristina. Congratulations on finishing the 5K! My husband and I were standing beside you in the start corral with the bright green WISH shirts on. You and I chatted a bit when we started out about how difficult it was to get started with this and how we were both going to do the best we could, no matter what! He and I finished just before you (so we were the last three on the results board) and we were so happy to see you cross the finish line! We were two of the WISH'ers who went up to you and gave you a great big sweaty hug because we were so proud of you for not giving up! Way to go!! Maybe we'll run into each other again some time - I keep hearing that Disney events are addictive!
