Hello, :) Everyone this is my frist trip report and I hope you all enjoy it. I have gone on many trips to Disney World Resort and never attempted to do a TR. Although this time, with lots of inspiration from other TRs I have read on Disboards, I thought I would do one with my trip to Universal Orlando Resort. I have not been to US/IOA in such a long time, so this is more like a first time for me. Please enjoy, relax and let me know what you think, I love feed back!:cutie:

Scott and I have been dating for about 5 years now, and this has been our first trip alone to a resort we both havent been in a long time. We have gone to Disney numerous times, NYC, and other destinations. But this trip was special because neither of us have experienced a full on Universal Resort vacation.



Day 1: "Getting there is half the fun!"

So unfortunatley Scott had to work but he got off at 2:00pm, changed and picked me up for our road trip to Orlando. We dont live tooo far from Orlando but far enough where we cant go too often :(

When he picked me up, we packed his truck and got hungry. So for our on the road munchies we picked up Wendys through Drive Through and got lunch. We were soo excited because we couldnt wait to get there!

So about 2 hours after driving we had to stop at a rest stop because we needed a potty break after eating lunch in the car and we wanted to get some disney and universal maps and pamphlets just to look at and get super excited at the pictures. I saw some fresh produce which I thought looked yummy but didnt purchase any. Also scott got some nice sunglasses there as well. Scott is known for breaking, losing and rebuying sunglasses. So he always has to buy a new pair.:cool2: :sad2:

Oh my goodness, we made it. YAY! :banana:
So excited, as we pulled up to our exit and then pulled into the Universal Resort area.
We drove to the hotel and got there early evening. We could not retain our excitement. We were ready to check in and check out our hotel.

The wonderful bell hopper took our luggage and they valeted our car. I love service like that, makes you feel special. So as they did all the hard work, we got to play and get excited as we walked into the hotel lobby. Talk about PICTURE TIME!

I have to say, walking towards this lobby was amazing. It was just soo beautiful, refreshing and clean and airy. The environment with all the beautiful greenery was just soo pretty. It really made us feel in a polynesian paradise. We both have stayed at the Polynesian Resort at WDW, and I have to say for the RPH being cheaper I enjoyed this hotel alot better. But dont get me wrong Disney Resorts are amazing. But this one is high up there considering the deal we got :)

The bamboo style walkway was soo beautiful! What a way to stay in style!
I loved the froggies on the walkway as well lol. So welcoming.

We took about 10 min to take in the serenity of this walkway before we headed into the lobby. As well as to take pictures hehe. The Greenery was so refreshing with the ponds as well.

We couldnt take our eyes off of the hotel lobby, we were stumbling over each other because it was so beautiful. Now its time to Check In and get to our room.

Scott was soo happy it was Goose Pillows and Down Comforters..Soo cozy!


Our room was a Standard, 2 Queen Size Beds, with a Garden View Room! It was perfect, we couldnt ask for more. We felt at home.

I am a clean freak, so once scott laid his butt on that bed, I declared it the bed you can lay on to watch tv after we have been out, the other bed is for bed time. It comes in handy to have two beds.

I reccomend the Garden View Room. Its sooo amazing when you wake up in the morning and brush those curtains open and see a beautiful view. Very invigorating (sp?)

Still Day 1: Evening

"CityWalk, City of LIGHTS"


Its now around 7:30pm, we were getting hungry and since we heard such wonderful things about CityWalk Dining we were contemplating :confused3 where to eat. So many to chose from, NBA, HardRock, Nascar, Latin Quarters, Pastamore, Emrils, Margarittaville, and im sure more!

After check in we washed up, dressed up, freshened up and went straight to the elevator to go downstairs and take the water taxi to CityWalk. The bellhopper explained to us all the tricks and benefits of staying at a Universal Resort, Our hotel key/ park tickets is free access to the Clubs, 2 for 1 drinks at the Bars, and express pass on the rides, OH and ahead seating at the restaurants. We wanted to take advantage of that tonight!

By this point our tummies were rumbling with angst and hunger. But our minds were still not sure about where to eat.

So as our elevator went to floor 1, we exited out to the pool area and walked to the Water Taxi section. We were the first ones there and then more people arrived. It was an excellent spot for photo taking! (my favorite)

Within 5 min the boat arrived.:sail: Great Service. I loved the safety precautions as well. They check everyones bags before entering the Water Taxi, they didnt have much to check on mine I just had a wristlet.

Margarittaville..Scott is a fan of Jimmy Buffet so eating here was definitly on our list.

The boat docked at CityWalk, the ride wasnt long at all. It was perfect timing and a relaxing ride. The weather is kinda cool so thank goodness i brought a little sweater. I guess also being on the water it was a bit chillier.

By this point there was so much to see and do here that we stopped listening to our stomachs. We wanted to take some photos as well before it got too dark. The Nascar restaurant had great photo ops. We took advantage.

We walked around CityWalk to see where we wanted to eat..We looked at Margaritavilles menu, and we werent craving what they were offering.

So we walked over to Latin Quarters and CRAVED what they offered. The menu sounded delicious, gourmet, and exactly what our tastebuds needed. ALso what are stomachs needed.


Drum roll please.......And the Winner is......by a landslide

"Table for Two Please"
The LQ staff greeted us and seated us. They were so friendly and right away we got seated at a romantic setting by the stage with a pond.

It was soo romantic and cozy, the atmosphere was inviting and it felt like I was in a vintage spanish cave. I love it here.

The staff wore authentic latin shirts called guayaberas. Scott was actually wearing a guayabera that night so it fit the mood. Our waiter was so nice and friendly letting us know what he reccomends. Which definitly helped because we werent sure what specialty drink we wanted, they had a list of latin style drinks.

Scott got the Little Havana..it was yummy I tried it and said next time I will order that.

Our drinks were perfection, they were sweet, cold and velvety on our tounges. It started off our dining experience right.

Now here comes the challenge...what shall we order???:confused3 :confused:

We started with the Tostones appetizer..Its fried plantains with shredded juicy seasoned chicken, melted cheeses, tomatoes and black beans.
Talk about heaven on a PLATE! One bite and all the flavors collided in a spark in my stomach and mouth. Scott could not stop eating them. Neither could I!

The menu looked divine and it was so hard to chose from all the delicious latin varieties. In the end I chose the Latin Quarters de Paella. I love paella so i was thrilled to try theirs and sure enough it was MAGNIFICENT:yay:

Scott ordered the Churasco (skirt steak) with sweet plantains and brown rice.
He says "Alexis when we get married can you cook me this every night?"

Umm no I cant but we can come up here all the time, thats ok by me lol

They also brought us delicious soft bread rolls..heated and toasted to the right degree with butter with like a garlic/parsley season.

Ok so are you all ready for the sad part??? Well we DID NOT get dessert, we were stuffed and we could not find any room for a sweet sensation.
But we wouldnt doubt for one second that they are delicious..

Still Day 1: After Dinner Fun

"Cigars, Drinks and Singing...Who could ask for more??"



After our delicious dinner experience we noticed that it was now around 10pm and the clubs were getting ready for all the fun they had in store. Scott said he noticed a cigar shop here, he just doesnt know where it is. So we walked downstairs for the directory (I know, what tourists!). So we asked a security guard there and he said it was upstairs towards the left. So we marched on up the escalator by the movie theaters, passed a starbucks and found.......

So we walked right in and Scott loved:love: checking out the cigars they had. I prefer the flavored ones so i got a vanilla and cinnamon flavor.

I had a hard time lighting it because it was very windy. Mind you Im not good at it. lol

We found a spot above the stairs and sat and enjoyed our cigars. Its very relaxing and we got to take in the beauty and excitement of CityWalk.
So i got ansy and wanted to walk some more, at the begining I saw "carnival-like games" and wanted to play them to win a stuffed animal.

My favorite is the ones with shooting the water at the target, and thats where we went.

3 bucks per person per game. So we played twice..If you win the first round you win a teddy bear...BUT if you play 2 rounds and win the second round you get a sesame character. SHOOT FOR THE SESAME! And thats what we did..

Then along came two boys who played against us..

As the bell rang, we took our guns and pointed at the target with water shooting out...I thought I won, but the bell rang on Scotts side.

Scott won round 1!!!! Go scott

The two boys then left and it was neck and neck between Scott and I.,..

And the winner is......MEEEEEEEEEEE YAY!:woohoo: I won a COOKIE MONSTER in a pirate suit lol.

CityWALK just opened a new club/bar called Rising Star Karaoke.
Now if you know Scott he LOVES karaoke...so we decided to check it out, and with our hotel perks we got in free.

As we walked in they had a huge stage with LCD flat screen tvs playing really good music with music videos. So we sat and ordered some drinks...(cookie monster came too, but he didnt drink)

Scott ordered Corona and I ordered a captain and diet coke. We sat back and listened to the band start to sing. They were excellent and very lively. We loved it there and didnt want to leave.

Now if your a bad singer (like scott lol) you wont sound bad when you go up there because the band is pretty much singing along with you and you sound great. We wanted to go up and sing but were still a little shy. Maybe next trip.

We hung out there for about an hour and then called it a night, it was a long day. But it was a GREAT day.

As we walked towards the water taxi to take us back to our resort I took some pretty pictures of Universal at night.

As we arrived back to our room after a beautiful night ride on the water taxi we got something we totally didnt expect. We actually forgot about our suprise.

When we registered under Loews hotel member club we chose White wine and nuts to be delivered to our room at each stay. We thought it would be a tiny little gift...but we were suprised!

It was soo nice, and a big bottle of wine.. Scott enjoyed the nuts and the wine we saved for later..We had enough to drink tonight.

We switched the bucket and put in some water bottles to keep cold for us to drink.
It was soo great to walk in our room and see a chilled bottle of white wine waiting for us.

Day 1 was spectacular and we really enjoyed ourselves. But now its time to shower, head to bed and get some rest for our Day 2 of Adventures.

Thank You all for the wonderful sweet comments. I am so glad you like my first TR. Since I am done with winter term and I just finished finals so I will be working on day 2 today. Hope you all stick around for more!

Day 2: May 2, 2008...2 parks 1 day!

"Express Pass on all the rides! Is it too good to be true????"

We woke up at 7am, yes 7am! We were so excited :woohoo: to eat breakfast and be at the parks when they open at 9am. I was the first to wake up and Scott was still groggy and wanted a few more minutes to sleep. I went straight to the curtains and brushed them open. Oh my goodness what a view at 7am, so beautiful! The fresh flowers, :flower3: the pond, and the beautiful palm trees swaying in the breeze. It was as if I woke up in the middle of Hawaii or Tahiti. There was no time to spare, time to get moving..So I showered and got ready for a day of Adventures..Scott finally woke up and took a shower. We turned on the hotel tv and put it on channel 24. :happytv: Universal channel, and watched some tips for the parks and resorts. Around 8:15am we headed to the Resort Tickets desk on the Lobby floor (floor 3) and purchased our tickets. Along with our tickets we got a 20% discount off merchandise at the Universal Studios Store in Universal and the Islands of Adventure store. It helped us later on when we purchased THING 1 and THING 2 shirts (but thats later in the TR).

After purchasing the tickets we strolled downstairs to Islands Dining Room. They had a breakfast buffet that we were looking forward to. Once again we were greeted and seated right away. Wonderful service.:thumbsup2

Our waiter approached us immediately and explained there is a full service menu OR the buffet. We said BUFFET please. The menu looked divine as well, but buffet was much more worth it.
So we sat and ate our breakfast....it was yummy, Scott LOVED his breakfast.:love:

They had a variety for everyones tummys desires. They had scrambled eggs, omlet station, pancakes, waffles, french toast, cereal station, yogurt parfait, fresh fruit watermelon, strawberries, canteloupe, honeydew,pineapple. Bagles, Toast, fresh salmon, oatmeal, gritz, biscuits and gravey (scotts favorite) cinnamon buns, danishes (cheese,apple, cherry) sweet breads. Tropical Juices. Yumm what a buffet!

So by 8:50 we were done with our King Style feast of Breakfast and paid our wonderful waiter and headed to the Water Taxi. We passed the pool and it looked delicous, we decided that later we would jump in!

The day was beautiful and sunny with a light breeze, we docked at CityWalk and walked towards Universal...we chose to do Universal as the first park. The photographers were there already to take pictures of you.

Still Day 2: Universal Studios

"The Simpson Ride, Only 10 Minute wait"

As we entered Universal Studios, we decided to head to the Simpsons Ride because we were told that you cannot use your hotel key/express pass for the ride. So we started to walk towards the Krustyland. Although I had to take pictures. I love vintage Hollywood!

I love Lucille Ball and Audrey Hepburn. So I screamed and said "Scott we have to go there, lets go in the exhibit NOW!" He said "No Alexis, on the way out, we have to get to the SImpsons Ride now" So I said Ok! So we kept on walking towards the ride. It was logical to check out the exhibit at the end because the Simpsons Ride would be a longer wait.

THE BROWN DERBY! LOL i love the episode of I love lucy when Lucy eats at the Brown Derby, so OF COURSE i had to take a picture.

Kept on walking, it was so great there was like nobody there. It was so quiet, we practically had the park to ourselves. I guess its best to get there at 9am when it opens. There is no excitement like Theme Park Excitement, and that is just what we had.

Scott was so excited it was opened, ALL month before our trip he talked about the Simpsons ride.

After 10 min of waiting, we walked inside and watched the preshow. The inside looked like a Carnival. I was told by an employee I cant take photos anymore. So unfortunatley I couldnt take anymore photos. After the preshow you go in a tiny room with a fun mirror and watch like a 2 min preshow again. Then you head into your simulator. And off you go. WHAT an AMAZING ride. It was soo much fun. I dont want to give it away for those who will be riding it soon. But it is excellent and Scott and I give it two thumbs up! (Well that would be 4 thumbs up lol):rotfl2:

After the ride we walked towards Men In Black. We showed our hotel key and right away we were in the express line and got to the front of the line. Attendant asked "How many?" "2 please" Then she explained I have to head back to the lockers and put my bag away, we are not allowed to have purses on the ride. So I walked back out and put my bag in a locker. I thought it was a great idea especially for roller coasters. Although MIB isnt a roller coaster, so I wonder why they dont want purses on the ride? I love how they have lockers by each ride, very convenient. Anyway I put my purse in the locker just by the touch of a finger print. and VOILA I was back in line in the express lane. NOT even 1 minute of waiting. EXCELLENT!
I wish I had my camera to take pictures on the ride but they wouldnt allow photography. ( Gotta follow the rules right??) I wish I had my camera because I beat scott killing those aliens. I got a score of around 95,000 and he got a score around 47,000...I wish I had proof for you all, but just take my word lol.

After we were done looking at our goofy photo killing aliens we saw a band from South Carolina HighSchool playing their instruments. They were very good. Of course I took some pictures.

Scott enjoyed it, he used to play in a marching band when he was in highschool. He played the saxaphone.

After Men In Black we headed towards Jaws, we loved how the town looked.. We were in Rhode Island in October and Looked exactly like that New England town. Once again we showed our Hotel Key like it was a police badge. They put us in the express line and skipped all the others.

Ok so Scott always stuck me on the end of the rides...Hes a scaredy cat..lol.
So everytime JAWS came near MY SIDE, I couldnt seem to get a picture of him. And I kept getting scared when the big wave would pop up, get me wet and open his mouth like hes gonna eat me. lol.

See I kept missing it! I know its a big fake plastic shark but still, when your on the left side of the boat its pretty scary. Our Skipper was pretty entertaining and funny.

So I got really wet, and I was very scared and covered my face on Scotts shirt, which ended up a big makeupstain on his shoulder. lol Ooops!

So after that excitement we walked towards the ride/show Disaster

Ok so we walked across to DISASTER! Once again we pulled out our hotel key and we got to the front. At the begining they casted some people to be apart of the show. I love the part when you go on the subway and and the fire and water come at you. Once again they said no pictures so I couldnt take photos alot. But I snuck one in.

After the ride we headed outside and heard loud music, so we walked towards the sound and saw the Blues Brothers playing...

Then we noticed we were right by the Mummy. YAY we never ever have been on this and it was TIME!

So on this ride I had to put my purse in a locker but I kept my camera so after we could take a picture of us on the ride.
Within 5 minutes we were strapped in. ooooOOooOOo it looks pretty scary, once again people i was on the end. Scott is really a scaredy kat!

This is what I call the Cheap Way! Instead of buying a 20 dollar photo with about 15 people you dont know in it. You take your camera and zoom in on your photo..LOL i know im bad, but hey I did it for the TR!

WE loved the ride. What a great ride. It was a bit spooky, but very thrilling and exhillerating! Scott and Alexis give this ride 2 thumbs up! YEA!

As we walked outside, we got my bag from the locker and kept walking. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG its TWISTER! I loooooooooooooove this movie, gotta check out the attraction.:love: I went on it before but long long ago.

It was very loud and very scary how twisters and kill so much.

Stil Day 2: One more park for the day

"Snacks, lunch and more rides...Park 1 done by 12:30!"

So after Twister we were a bit hungry and wanted a snack, not a full lunch yet. So we stopped and I got a pretzel with mustard and Scott got Dippin Dots Ice cream (cookies and cream). So we sat on a bench and just relaxed and took a break from our rushed morning. Dont get me wrong though it was a great morning. So I ate my pretzel and and he ate his icecream, it hit the spot and gave us some energy to keep going!

My favorite is Frankenstein!

So we noticed we were nearby Shrek 4D! So NATURALLY we used our hotel key and got in the Express Lane and B O O M! We were in the preshow with our 4D glasses waiting to enter the auditorium to experience SHREK 4D! Scott and I have seen all the Shreks in the movie so we just LOVE it!

Unfortunately I couldnt take pictures inside because the cast members said NO! :( boo but oh well.

I dont want to spoil the suprises in the ride, but what a great experience 4D is muuuucccchhhh beeeettttter than 3D!

After that we saw Dora the Explorer by the Rugrats building but the line was long to take a picture and we were ready to head over to Islands of Adventure...BUT we had one more stop to make....

I LOVE LUCY EXHIBIT! YAY!

We walked by Mels Diner, where we considered to eat but decided to eat at IOA! So on our way to I LOVE LUCY EXHIBIT we saw a great DooWop band playing at Mels Diner...I am a FAN of oldies!

We were considering eating here because I was wanting a burger, fries and shake...ya know like the 50's. But Scott and I chose to just see what IOA has to eat (later did we regret not eating at Mels, but that is much later in the report.)

So we went to the Lucielle Ball Exhibit and I really loved it, I considered buying a T-Shirt there but I didnt really like any of the shirts they had...So I took a few pics (come on, you all should know be by now lol)!

Coming up Still Day 2: Islands of Adventure

"Lets get Soaked on Popeye"


So its now about 1:30pm and we are off to Islands of Adventures. We were also very hungry and according the DisBoards alot of people said Mythos is a great place to eatpopcorn:: ..So of course walked on towards IOA and had our eye and tummys set on Mythos. We exited the Universal park and walked towards IOA! We saw the NBA Place...it looked soo much fun but no time to stop there because we had to get moving towards the next park. It continued to be a beautiful day and hot enough to go on the water rides. :woohoo:

The entrance into the park is soo nice and vibrant it is such a beautiful place. So much to do and see!

The Xmas shoppe...I wanted to buy some ornaments there but for some odd reason I never did. :(

So mythos wasnt near by and we were getting hungry so we said whatever we find closest we will eat, it was getting too late as well.

Still Day 2: Lunch Time

"This is not that tastey"


So we headed to Marvel Land, I think thats what its called, I cant remember lol. But its the land with spiderman and all the other guys. So we saw a pizza place there and walked in, it looked like a middle school cafeteria because it must have been a day for field trips because it was a bunch of kids eating pizza. So scott said he didnt want to eat there. We kept walking and found a burger/chicken tenders/fries place and decided to eat there. I wanted the chicken tenders and scott got a chicken sandwhich. As he was ordering in the super long line, I went out to get him some beer at an outside stand. It was also a super long line for beer lol. As I waited in line I took some pictures of the hulk.

Waiting in line for scotts beer, I tried to get the hulk coming out of the tube but my camera got it a bit late.

Finally after 10 minutes of waiting I got Scotts beer, Coors Lite. I went back to the counter service place and we were sooo hungry and ready to eat.
We were very dissapointed. My chicken tenders hardly had any chicken in them, it was practically just fried crumbs. Scott wasnt liking his sandwhich. Oh well, next time we will plan a better lunch. We sat a relaxed a bit to digest before we head on some rides.

It looks good but it wasnt the best. The only thing that wasnt that great on the trip. But thats OK!

So after lunch we decided it was sooo hot outside and we needed to cool off. Scott was so excited because he was ready to ride some water rides. We walked towards the Comic Strip land...the morning funnies :)

So with our hotel key, once again, we got in the express lane. Now ya know how I told you that you have to put your belongings in a locker before heading on the rides. WELL before we got in line we went to put our bags in the locker, as we did we walked away and I noticed some kids getting in our locker taking something out!:scared1: I flipped out because of course you carry lots of money and you have your personal stuff in there. I said Scott LOOK! and we went back to the locker and the kids had a backpack that wasnt ours, WHEW! thank goodness..BUT what were they doing in our locker???? They said they left something in there. But when we put our stuff in there I forgot to check if it was empty, but once I opened it with my finger print and locked it. How did they get back in??? I know its really confusing. In the long run I didnt trust my stuff there so i packed my bag under my shirt so the attendant at the line for the ride wouldnt notice. So advice for those using the lockers....check that nothing is in your locker before placing your stuff, then make sure your locker is locked.

What a great ride, Scott really loved it and he didnt get soaked at all, but I sure did! This ride was an adrenaline rush for us! Its a MUST RIDE!

Im setting a bad example hahha...But yea I dont think they will allow the fanny pack, but ya never know.. But definitly watch out with the lockers.

Other than that incident we used the lockers for all the other rides and had no problem, we just made sure they stayed locked.

We tried making another reservation for this summer and the prices went way up...we got a deal for this trip at 139 a night....now its 189-200 a night. So we will see, Ill definitly let you all know when we are going next. Anyone want to join us?? lol.

Since we were still wet we decided to head over to popeye ride. As we walked towards it Scott was soo excited because he was ready to get wet because it was so hot. BUT they had techinical difficulties and the ride was broken! So sad,:mad: Scott was dissapointed but there isnt much you can do..So next trip we will hopefully be able to ride it. Then we decided lets head over to jurrasic park ride. We decided to have a snack, we were getting just a bit hungry for like sweet something. We saw a churro stand and decided to get a yummy, doughy, sweet, cinnamony, sugary churro! (did i make you hungry?)lol It was sooo delicious and tastey. I reccomend everyone who goes to the parks MUST get a churro. Its a DEMAND! lol.:woohoo:

yep, summer prices go up some, if you go in aug-sept i think theyre decent though. we went in october and the temps were reasonable, as were the prices.

I got it in nov for my bday and this is like the first time I got to take really good pics with it. They come out very vibrant.

WE LOVE JURRASIC PARK! The ride was amazing, the first thing scott said to me was his stomach felt as if it was in his throat. I felt the same way, the end drop is soooooo thrilling! These were our faces:scared1: :scared1:

After Jurrasic Park we decided to head over to Dueling Dragons, well we walked through Dr. Seuss land and I saw the cutest little ride! So I forced scott to go on, I know its a kiddie ride but it looked soo cute. I love Dr. Seuss, his books are great!

Yea Scott and I want to go again in like July but the prices are too crazy, we thought well maybe lets stay at pop century, since its cheaper BUT then you dont get your express pass ya know? So were not sure, I know we want to go up regardless to do the water parks at Disney.. so we will see.

We really liked the Dr. Seuss ride ( i cant remember the name) it really was lots of fun and very cute. A must do for those with children.

To be honest, I was amazed by the view through the ride that I didnt really pay attention to the plot of the ride. It was a great little coaster like ride that took us through DR. Seuss land. it really was cute.

After the ride we made a game plan, we had 4 rides left that we wanted to ride

the Hulk
Dueling Dragons
Dr. Dooms Fear Fall
So we decieded to hurry up and head over to the last 4.

Ok so after our picures we walked hand ing hand on our way to Marvel Comic land.
( i cant remember much of the words)

SO we saw Spiderand and jumped in on the express pass lane. Within 5 min we were seated in our buggy/ride car and then 2 min later we were forced to leave the ride because of Technical Difficulties.

The cast members were so nice they kept us aside so that when it came back on we were the first to get back on the ride! Within 15 min it was back and runningYAY!:yay:

LOL the ride was amazing. Scott really liked it. The 3D really gets ya excited.
After the ride I noticed Dr. Dooms Fear Fall was right there, so of course with our great benefits of our hotel key we jumped right on in.

Within 5 min we were buckeled up and harnest down. Scott didnt care for it much, his stomach gets very nervous with heights lol. Hes such a baby!
I loved it, I love Free Fall jumps..I litterally was out of my seat at one point.
No pictures on the ride because of course they dont let you.

We then headed to Dueling Dragons and got in the express pass lane and we chose to ride on FIRE since we both have been on ICE in the past...We LOVED IT whata great ride. especially when you feel if your feet will touch the other people onthe coasters feet. Soooo reccomend it!:thumbsup2

After Dueling Dragons we went to THE HULK and got in the EP lane. Another excellent ride, and I wish I took pictures but there is a guarentee that you will get very freaked out lol.

As we were done with those rides it was now 6pm and we started to head to the park exit and head back to the pool then out for one more night at City Walk.

Day 2: Dinner time

Ok so its now 6pm May 2, 2008 and we headed to the park exit. As we were exiting Scott was just ready to jump in the hotel pool. Thats all he talked about. We stopped in some shops by the exit, we didint really buy anything, we just looked around.


We exited the park...so sad :sad1:
We walked where the boats are and got on our Royal Pacific Resort boat. We were beat, we had been at the parks since 9am and we were walking so much and with the sun beating its viscious rays down at us it made us tired. We rode the boat back and planned our night...our plan was to go swimming for about an hour then head up to the room, get ready, and eat at a restaurant in City Walk.....WELL we changed our minds once we stepped one TOE in that delicious pool. (you would have too)

So we rushed up to our room and changed into our bathing suits. We just couldnt wait, doesnt that pool look YUM!

We got two lounge chairs by the edge of the pool, we set our towels on them and claimed our Relaxation Spot. Scott headed in the pool while I ordered a drink. A DELICIOUS Fruity cocktail, of course i forget the name, but it was soo yummy and refreshing by the pool.

We basically just relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the late afternoon, the dj was there playing good music and they were about to set up for the Torch Lighting ceremony which goes on around 6:30-7pm, around there. I told myself one hour in the pool so we can get ready for dinner...BUT....BUT...
we saw people ordering nachos, and it looked soo good.

THe best thing about the RPH was they had a waitress walking around to take your order, it was soo nice to be in the pool and say "Id like a pina colada and some nachos" lol and they bring it to you. Wonderful service, makes you spoiled.

So i got my drink and sat around to relax and I saw a little worm doing the same thing....getting sun lol.

My yummy tropical drink, I love it...AND i got to keep the cup. YAY! lol. It was soo perfect for the setting. Tropical plants, nice tropical music, the pool, the sun, just P E R F E C T!

THe pool was soo serene and soo turquoise. I love it.

Scott ordered a captain and coke... WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? I said, your pracitcally in Tahiti, you have to order like a Mai Thai or something...he is soo nutty.

It was by that time 7pm and just fantastic.

Obviously we didnt want to leave the pool so I said...Scott, lets eat here lets enjoy the pool for the night..Well I didnt have to ask him twice, he was in hog heaven. So we decided to swim a few and then sit by the cabana tables and eat some dinner

The pool was soo nice and the music from the torch lighting ceremony was soo awsome. Scott and I reccomend this place with 1 BILLION thumbs up!
We didnt feel like an orlando tourist, we felt like a tahitian tourist.

This hotel is just beautiful...soo beautiful.

So by 7:15 we headed to a table after drying up at Bula Grille..and of course..WE ordered the "Shipwrecked Loaded Nachos" NOW LISTEN EVERYONE lol....if you go there and eat at Bula Grille...you MUST order nachos...I REPEAT you must order the nachos...

Now put your right hand over your heart, (yes do it lol) and promise me you will order the nachos at Bula Grille. Because it is soooo delicious, what a PERFECT appetizer by the pool. we were happy.

I know, I know, isnt it sooo amazing how yummy they look.

The wait staff was SUPER DUPER awsome and nice, they were quick and helpful.

It was soo nice to just relax by the pool after a long day at the parks.

I ordered the Chimichurri Steak wraps with this D E L I C I O U S pasta. Im serious it was just P E R F E C T.

I love food, i know thats such a wacky statement, but when its good food I love to appreciate it and tell everyone.

We sat and relaxed and ate our yummy food...towards the end we had some left overs and asked the waiter for a to go box, so we packed our left overs, paid, and headed to the little beach they had and saw the pretty ducks and I fed them some french fries. It was just soo relaxing and romantic.

After that it was no 8:15pm and we headed up to shower and go to CityWalk to go to some clubs,

Scott fell asleep after his shower and I got ready. We were exhausted but we wanted to take COMPLETE advantage of the weekend there.

So by 10pm we headed out to the boat and head to CityWalk.

So we headed up to The Groove and wanted to dance, they checked our id's and took us to an elevator, which was cool. We rode the elevator up and got inthe club. They were playing really cool :rolleyes1 music, so I got a diet coke and soco and just danced a little with scott. Scott still wasnt 100% feeling good cause he had a headache. :mad:
I told him we can go back to the room but he wanted to stay out a bit more.

After spending a half hour there we exited and went again The Rising Star Karaoke and listened to some people sing again.

It was relaxing and just sat back and watched the karaoke singers lol.

AFter being there an hour, we called it a nice because we both wanted to get into that bad and close our eyes.

The songs they have are basically classic 80's music, bon jovi, ummmm vanilla ice, ummmm typical karaoke songs. Scott is a karaoke nerd like you hahaha. so trust me next trip he wants to sing.

Last Day on our Mini Weekend vacation Trip

"Portofino Bay then Home"

We woke up that morning at around 7am, I called Guest Services to see if we can extend our check out time to 3pm, they said no but 1pm is possible. Ok perfect so we went back to bed then at around 9am Scott went downstairs to the front desk to get our T-shirts from yesterday. So he came back up to the room as I was getting ready and he said we have to check out at 11am. WHAT??:scared1: Thats not fair, they said 1pm. Oh well nothing we can do about it, so they said they were gonna deliver our shirts so we can wear them today. We waited 1 hour to get the delivery, soo annoying but I understand they probably get busy. So after we were done packing up we called the luggage service and they got our bags and held them for us while we went to breakfast at Islands and then roamed around.

We were hungry and ready to eat at Islands, buffet again lol.

So then after breakfast we decided to walk towards City Walk and take the boat to Portofino Bay Hotel. It wasnt a long walk, but it was beautiful. The day was gorgous Sunny, Bright and Breezy.

We passed by Jimmy Buffets Margarittaville, next trip I want to eat there because I love margarittas.

We got on the boat and then sailed our way towards the Portofino, but first we passed by the Hard Rock

I loved it, it was so beautiful. I sorta felt like I was in Italy.

We got off the boat and headed towards the lobby. We saw some "vespas" they didnt move they were bolted on the ground BUT we took some cute pictures.

The lobby was soo classy and divine, Scott and I had a disagreement. He liked RPH better but I said for more elegant purposes I like Portofino...I said Id like to get married at Portofino, Scott said it was too fancy!

I like fancy lol. Scott is more into Tropical settings. We then walked around some more through the lobby.

I thought this was soo cool, it was indoors but it felt like if you were in Rome at night doing some fancy shopping for Gucci.

We went up the escalators and found the ball rooms. OH MY GOSH, I want to have my wedding reception here soo badly. Isnt that just gorgous.

This hotel was breath taking, we reccomend you go see it when your in Universal.

As we were riding the boat we were discussing our next trip.

We got back to RPH and walked by the pool. It looked soo delicious, I wanted to jump in again. But we had to head home.

We decided to order some Tropical Drinks from Bula Grille, right before we leave.
Scott got a pina colada, I wasnt too fond of it. I got a something sunrise, I cant remember the names at all. It was delicious. It had like a strawberry and coconut flavor. So yumm.

We then finished our drinks, and sadly walked into the lobby to get our bags. The service was great, they got our car and put the bags in for us. We headed home after a wonderful trip

What a great report!! Great pics! Sounds like y'all had a great time and made the most of it. I've never been to Universal, but it sounds like something that we oughta try sometime. Definitely sounds like the service was great everywhere you went on property.

Great report! I usually don't read the Universal TR's but yours got me hooked! I went to IOA and Universal Studios last year for one day and I feel like I missed so much after reading your report. Maybe I'll have to go back and give it another chance.

When my boyfriend and I planned our trip we didnt think about Universal, until my BF said he wants to try it out. I was a bit dissapointed because Im a DISNEY girl lol...(hence the screename lol) but I was excited to go because it was a vacation....Once we got there, i took off my Disney Blinders and really enjoyed myself.

Im glad you enjoyed my TR...hopefully youll get to go to US/IOA and experience it like we did, because we did have such a good time and would like to go again..Scott and I agreed on swapping, one vacation to disney then one vacation to US/IOA lol.

Those shirts were cute!!! I was actually going to buy some for my daughter and little niece when we went there a couple of weeks ago, but forgot!!! Too much wedding drama!! :rotfl:

We didn't get to actually go in the park. There were so many groups of young kids going in so we just decided not to go in! I am saving it for my trip in October so we can take our little girl! She loves E.T.!:lmao:

Awesome trip report. I love the details & the pictures. The hotel looks amazing. I am going to Disney World October 28 – November 11 & was planning 3 days at Universal & Island of Adventure. Now I most certainly know which restaurant to avoid. :rotfl: We were thinking of actually dining at Mama Della’s. Thanks again for the trip report.

Another reason I am glad I read through this, I didn't even know there was a Rising Star karaoke club, now I can't wait to go!!!

BTW......I love the Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts. when i took my two DD's (ages 6 and 7 at the time) I wanted to do Thing 1 and Thing 2, figured it would be a great photo, but they didn't cooperate, so they were Thing 1 and Thing 1. :sad2:

Hey Alexis! Sorry that it took FOREVER but I finally had a chance to read your report, and I loved it! You and Scott and so cute together :D RPR looks GORGOUES! Back in 2006 we visited the Universal Resorts but only did the other two. We didn't have time for the RPR but I love anything tropical so it looks amazing. It looks like you guys had such a great time. Thanks for the info one some of the CityWalk clubs. We've never been to any of them but I'd love to go next summer. And those Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts are so funny!

HI Alexis - I too just read your TR - it was great. My DH and I are heading to US for a couple of days in March and staying at the Royal Pacific. So you had Paella yumm and Scott had my favorite Food CHURRASCO!! I call myself El Chucharquero!! i looooooooveeeeeeeee Churrasco!! that dinner sure look delicious. The Tostones look good to but first time i hear that it gets combine with Cheeze and Beens wierd lol. Am Cuban and that combination of cheeze, tomatores and beens sounds like an explosion lol.
