Greetings, friends! :goodvibes

In 6 weeks we will embark on an unforgettable adventure. A gathering of friends and family. A celebration of our love for all that is Mickey, alcohol based, and not to be forgotten..... the wiener salad.

Insert Wiener Salad Picture here.

So what if I'm cheating by pasting page 1 of the original PTR - it's Friday, I'm lazy and I have to do a PowerPoint presentation on Halitosis! Ewww! :crazy2:

Here's the link to the craziness of Chapter 1:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1658463

And here's my copy and paste of page 1:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's see how does one start an open forum PTR? :confused3 I guess I'll have to take you back - back to the beginning, Pumba. ;)
It all started on the Trip Report Boards - ironic no? And I think it may have started on either PrincessV's or was it Lauralee131's trip report? Anywho, basically V and LL had a DIS meet last December (2006), hitting it off and becoming life long friends. Somehow or another talk of a girls weekend came up and actually became a huge meet in August '07, fondly referred to as Lapupalooza. You've heard of it, yes? Anyway, the DISers involved last year were myself, DisneyJo, Lauralee131, Sorul82? & PrincessV and all our adorable kiddos and neck craning, hand flailing, golf ball losing hubbies. Oh and don't forget, Waldo! NOTE: Waldo will not be attending the '08 festivities. ETA- as of 1/11/08 Waldo WILL be joining the festivities
Well, we're doing it again next August. :woohoo: Bigger and Better this time baby! We've added more DIS friends and family and we're ready to party!! :cool1:
After our Pineapple wipeout at the Kona last year, we decided we're too proud to return there and are now ready to storm World Showcase. Bring on the Margarita's and the Wiener Salad, my friends!! :banana:
This PTR is a group effort with all the parties contributing - everyone pick a color and start posting!! I'll be BLUE!
Here's some of my favorite pics from Aug. '07 fest:
Personally, I liked how we had the billing parties all seated together originally so as not to confuse the wait staff. We can always switch around once we are there to chat and what not.
No problem! :thumbsup2
If you're serious, I can make it happen! Anything to help your Excel work out evenly. :goodvibes
YES, absolutely serious!!!! :yay:
Hey
You had 32 pages left on your other thread, you get 250 pages. But since you start Chapter 2, I won't merge it. I just locked it up and put it in the completed board.
How is everyone doing?
We are looking for Moderator's-we need 2 for the pre-trip board and at least 2 more on the regular board. I already asked Leesa and Michelle-they said they were too busy. Anyone else want to apply?
That's my fault Marisa - I swear, any time a thread gets into the 200+ pages range, my computer comes to a grinding halt when I open it, so i suggested maybe we should go ahead and start a new one before 250. Same thing happened with the TFW thread and jordonyosh's part one TR. But now I'm wondering if it's just me???? :confused:
A couple things as I NINJA post before I go to the scrapbooking store:
I was hoping to sit near Lessa or Jo. I totally understand if that's not feasible of course. We're friendly and can chat up anyone!
I wanna hang out with Alek and Erich for an afternoon!!!!!
Oh, Neil Diamond...I love his music. On the radio. In person? Not so much.
V,
Do whatever you have to to work out the seating. I'm sure I'll be able to jump up (as Lessa said) and move around to say hi to everyone. But, if it comes down to brass tacks....put me near some Canadians.
:thumbsup2
Mel and all, I just had a horrible thought...... do you think it's possible Biergarten wouldn't keep us together in full tables of 8? I mean, what if they decide to break us up into parties of like 4 at a time and separate all over the place???? That's not likely, is it?! :eek:
Yes, I am totally anxiety-ridden today, so bear with me, k? All will be better when I've got a couple projects completed... :rolleyes:
Perhaps somebody should show up early when they open for dinner and speak with the manager or whoever and explain about the size of our group and that we would all like to be seated together. That way they know ahead of time that we are coming and maybe they can work something out for us.
Guess since we started a new thread we should all do our intro's again?
I'm Janet. Our travelining party consists of me, DH Jim, DS Jimmy (4), DNephew ANdrew (14) and making cameo appearances will be my DMom and DDad. Fabulous grandparents who spoil their youngest grandson terribly and CAst Members extrodinaire!
Our travel dates are August 19th - 29th. We are not partaking of free dining on the secnd half of our trip, becasue the CM discounts work out better for us:thumbsup2 Becasue of some cautionary posts some one of our fabulous moderators here at the Dis, that is all I post regarding our itinerary.;)
Looking forward to meeting all these fabulous Disers. Weiner Salad and I take or leave (mostly likely leave;) ) I am going so I can meet some fabulous people -- all of which are required to put up 24 cents each to purchase me a drink:lmao:
That's a good idea Lessa, Jo maybe since the ressies are all in her name:confused3
How about if we all meet around 20 minutes before (Apparently we need to tall V 45 minutes before;) ) and this way if we are all there together they wil try harder to seat us all together.
Maybe we could meet by the trains or something:confused3
Heck, somebody may even want to go over there when they open at lunch time and give the manager a heads up about our group descending upon them for dinner, that way they have several hours notice vs. an hour. My brothers both work in restaurants and I know that these places appreciate advance notice for these types of situations so that they can plan out in advance where to seat the big groups. I know we have ADR's but they may not realize how big our group actually is since it is broken up into three different ADR's.
I copied this from Anabel's hot dog blog...
The correct spelling is WIENER for the capital of Austria which is Wien or Vienna in English.
How can you do a PowerPoint presentation on something you SMELL???:confused3
Wait... funny story. So most everyone knows how strong my sense of smell is on here, right? Well so do most of my classmates. Apparently there was a bet going around that I would choose Halitosis as my project. So when our instructor made us announce out loud what our subject was, everyone started laughing and hi-fiving eachother when I announced, "HALITOSIS!" :sad2:
So intros again huh? Good Idea!
It's just me, Kat, going. I will be rooming with Z (lurrvtheduck) and no we have never met before! My DH has had his fill of Disney for the time being (GASP, I KNOW!). He will be going on his on vaca to Miami while we are in WDW and meeting up with me after the trip, for a few non Disney days, in Orlando.
Dates are Aug 21-25. POR. No DDP.
For one of the meets I am working on for september we had to call the restaurant directly to book a large group so they'd be aware we are together... they said the system would be noted that the ADR's are to be together... I wonder if Jo had them do that when she made the ressie if not you guys may want to call em and ask them to do that ... It might help so you don't get separated...
I'm still confused about my ADR's I really think I have too many and would be better off with more CS's with Kelly, but then with free dining will I be better off keeping the ADR's:confused:
Thanks T for the PM I would have been so confused and posting all alone on the other board. I guess not since it is locked now.
I am Margie while I will miss the wiener salad I am getting in on the Tue MK meet and hopefully be to POP in enough time to meet some of you at the pool.
My group consists of me, dd (Nana) 17, dd's bff (Not Nana) 17, and ds (Bug) 4. We will be arriving on Sunday and staying at POP from 24 - 30. I read the threads a lot but my posting is sporadic. I have several threads I read on a regular basis and have never posted to. I think of myself as the weird lady that lives across the street who looks out the window all day.
Jo, I have an ADR for Beirgarten (430 pm) for DH and I. Do you still want us to sit with you? And does that mean that we are "on" your ressie? Or should we keep our 430 pm one? Just wondering....
---------------------------------------------
Ok, and here's my intro:
I'm Mel. I am attending Fockerfest from Aug 22-25th. It's my DH and I and NO KIDS! Don't feel bad for them them though. They're going in June and December!
Can't wait to meet you all.
We will be at Tambu, Beirgarten and the PoP Pool Meet.
Hope I meet everyone...............Especially Lessa's Bros and Waldo!
Mel, Jo made a big group reservation for all of us, so you are included in the group reservation.
How about if we all meet around 20 minutes before (Apparently we need to tall V 45 minutes before;)
Hey! :rotfl: Actually, I think several people will be surprised to find how much more time-savvy I am without Gramma in tow! :thumbsup2
I'm still confused about my ADR's I really think I have too many and would be better off with more CS's with Kelly, but then with free dining will I be better off keeping the ADR's:confused:
Mo, keep them. You can always cancel once you're there, but I woudn't chance canceling them now.
I doubt it. I think when they see the party of 50 they will put us all together. They figure we're going to jump around tables if they don't. :rolleyes:
Ya think they don't want us reunning from table to table:confused3 :rotfl2:
And I nominate you to do that, Janet! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:
Thanks, Janet! :goodvibes
Wait... funny story. So most everyone knows how strong my sense of smell is on here, right? Well so do most of my classmates. Apparently there was a bet going around that I would choose Halitosis as my project. So when our instructor made us announce out loud what our subject was, everyone started laughing and hi-fiving eachother when I announced, "HALITOSIS!" :sad2:
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
FYI I offered myself up to be a moderator! We'll see if I get it! :)
Good luck Kat:goodvibes
For one of the meets I am working on for september we had to call the restaurant directly to book a large group so they'd be aware we are together... they said the system would be noted that the ADR's are to be together... I wonder if Jo had them do that when she made the ressie if not you guys may want to call em and ask them to do that ... It might help so you don't get separated...
We booked it through the large group number:thumbsup2
I did too... we'll see I guess... Either way I'm still a TR and PTR boards girl hehe... I go to the others.. but not as often hehe
Good luck to you too Tanya:thumbsup2
For all you Neil Diamond fans...
About Neil Diamond Radio- Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond will host his own exclusive music channel for two weeks starting Friday, May 2 at noon ET. Neil Diamond Radio (on SIRIUS Ch. 3) will feature Neil Diamond music 24/7 spanning four decades, including a preview of songs from Diamond’s highly anticipated new album, Home Before Dark, being released on May 6th. The limited engagement channel will also feature stories and insights from Neil about the many classic songs that have defined his iconic career, as well as his new Rick Rubin-produced album.
I knew I loved my Sirius radio but now... :rolleyes1
My DH, Mitch, and I will be joining Fockerfest as well. :cool1: While I am excited, he thinks I'm crazy but will be going along because he loves me. :lovestruc We live in Orlando so we will be staying at our house and fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, will not be dealing with hotel changes or ADR's. You all are so much fun "in space" that I know you'll be even more fun in person! :woohoo:
S'pose I ought to re-introduce myself too, eh?
I'm V, and yes, you really should call me that. Of course, it's short for something, but I don't use my name on the net. Or very much in real life. it truly is "V" most of the time. :thumbsup2
I'll be joining FockerFest 2008 with my DS6, Leo. That's not his real name either. Which makes for good times when I introduce him to DISers in real life. I've been known to accidentally refer to him as "Leo" outside of the DIS... just ask LL. ;)
We live in west-central Florida, about 1.5 - 4 hours from The Mouse, depending on traffic. I'll be using DVC points for a short stay at SSR and no dining plan for us - we'll be utilizing the Disney Dining Experience for a 20% discount. :woohoo: Which almost makes up for WDW's 30% mark-up on food and booze. :headache:
My favorite ice cream is Ben & Jerry's: Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream.
Leo's favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip and whatever flavor I'm eating.
hi fellow wieniefesters,
OK so I will re-introduce myself and niece/goddaughter
HI Mo, short for Maureen, I am taking my goddaughter for her first trip to WDW. I can't tell you how excited I am to see the World through her eyes.
Kelly will be 8 yo when this trip rolls around. Kelly hasn't been told yet, I will be telling her on her b-day next month. (and yes it is killing me everytime I see her to keep my mouth shut)
I am the Aunt that spoils all the kids and bit by bit I am taking each niece and nephew on a trip. Kelly specifically asked for WDW. Actually the conversation 2 years ago went like this:
Kelly: Aunt Mo you are going to WDW again?
me: yes
Kelly: Everyone in my family has been but me
Kelly again: Everybody in my class has been but me
me: Well, I can take you now or what until you are tall enough for all the rides
slight pause
Kelly: I'll wait as I want to go on all the scary rides.
Md: OK you got it, once you are tall enough we are going.
So come 8/21 we will check into GF for 3 nights and then move to BCV for 5 nights and stay on my DVC points. I too will be using the DDE card for 20% off.
And I can't wait to meet you all!!!!!!!
On an actual trip related note, I just closed my eyes, hoped, and checked flight prices, since I've not booked any yet. I was not expecting good things...
Southwest is actually VERY good - I can get the 4 of us rountrip for $740. Not quite as good as last year, but close. But since I'm still not sure if D is joining me, I don't know whether I should book it. Help!
Can you book and then get a credit for D's ticket if he doesn't go? I know with AirTran you can do that.
$740 is a great price for 4:thumbsup2
I think so. I know Southwest doesn't do refunds, but I think they just credit you a ticket. Frankly that's about all we fly so it might be worth it 'cause it will get used eventually. :thumbsup2
The way I see it, Alice is surrounded by coolness, but she, herself, plays the role of victim...while Mary...heck, she dances with penguins!
Hmmmm... I'll admit, you make a good case. But what about her strange relationship with Bert? I think that may bring Mary's cool-factor down a notch. On the other hand, the flying umbrella's pretty neat.
Which one sounds more like Jo? - obviously the test of British coolness. :rotfl2:
Wow, that's a tough one. I'm leaning toward Mary; I believe Jo can solve any problem put before her, meawning she doesn't sound wimpy like Alice. :cool1:
I'm easy - "V" everywhere! But I'm also TERRIBLE with names. My kids don't have favorite characters but I do! I love Mary Poppins! She's the coolest. :cool2:
Does anyone know if Pop has elevators? I'm assuming yes, but I was reading someone's TR a while back and they mentioned their hotel having NO elevator. Made me think that maybe SOME of them don't!!! Scary!! :scared1:
Pop does have elevators. We were in the 80's building last year and it was in the middle, if that makes sense. Where the vending machines are...if that didn't confuse you:confused3
Not sure what exactly will be happening after dinner, people had mentioned possibly getting drinks or doing Test Track but no set plans have been made that I know of. I know my family will probably be staying in the park for Illuminations. I'm not really sure if we had any definite plans for post-wienerfest. I know there was a mention of drinking around the world, the saki bar, Test Track, Karaoke and a couple other places mentioned.:confused3 It's doubtful I'll stay for IROE - I'm sending the parental units and the children back to the room and we'll be hanging back for some adult time (NoCE;) )
We (dh and I) are open after dinner. If anyone wants to make the booze cruise around the world, we're open! And I will probably "be there" for Illuminations, but not really WATCHING it. I've seen it, and I don't love the show.....
Anyhow, LMK if you want to plan something specific. We are big fans of TT and my husband has a GM pass so he can probably get us into the GM Lounge too (upstairs from TT) !!
So.....I think I ma changing my dates...adding some days actually. I have this urge to go by myself for a few days. I think I may come in Monday and stay at a value for a few nights, see my friend L & family and then meet up with Z on Thursday. As it's looking KC will only be able to take Thursday-Thursday off so he will still be meeting me in Orlando after my weekend with Z, so a few extra days before should be easy to fit in.
Any thoughts??
Anyone stayed at ASMovies??? Any thoughts???
Can anyone tell me about FL resident rates? If my friend L can book the room for me at a cheap rate I may do that with her & H for a day too.....
Thanks!!!
We stayed at Pop a few trips ago. We also stayed in the 80's section, KC was thrilled because we were near the pc pool.
I may request something as close to the main building as i can because I'll be alone, and as it's mostly safe I;d rather not be wandering all over at night alone, ya know!? But I'm in, the idea of running into you guys and hanging out makes me happy!!! :)
I am assuming that AP's can since CM's can...I know I could have picked preferred when I booked our room with the CM discount, but I didn't think it was worth the extra $$. BEing by yourself, though, I see why you would want to be closer to the main building!
Mo brought up an interesting point on TFW regarding Toy Story Mania. The normal course of action is usually ToT or RnRC then fast pass the other. Should we fast pass TSM because it will be so popular? Is it going to be a fast pass?
Lifelong_Dreamer
05-13-2008, 05:34 PM
I think my plan of action regarding TSM is I will send the family over to TSM as soon as the rope drops while I quickly grab Alek and I fastpasses for TOT and RnRC and then meet back with them over there, hopefully that strategy will work and will minimize waits on the three rides.
See my problem is I will have Andrew with me who is going to want to ride ToT and RnRC. I am thinking Get FP for ToT, Ride RnRC using baby swap, then see when we can get another FP for TSM. BEcasue other than star wars the only things we are interested in at DHS is Jimmy want to ride Star Tours and see LMA.
Here's my 2 cents: Andy & Maddie won't ride ToT, so they'll be FP runners and get us all FP's for TSM.Waldo, TE, me and Evan will ride ToT and then wait at RnRC. Waldo and TE will ride RnRC and Evan and I will sit out, then I will ride with the Baby Swap with Andy.
Ok, imagine a non-DISer try to understand that paragraph! :lmao:
I am a very happy camper! I got mine and KC's separate tickets for a pretty decent price, thank you jet blue!
KC is going to Fl Lauderdale first (before meeting me in Orlando after I check out) and I am flying into Tampa to save money. About $50 saved! Laura and H are going to pick em up in Tampa and drive straight to WDW to check me in, they may stay the night I'm not totally sure yet. We are also going to have her and her hubby pick us up (after we leave WDW) and drive us and stay with them for a day to fly home from Tampa as well.
Total for 4 plane tickets about $450. Not too bad considering the flights I was seeing for $175 one way!!!!
D talked to his scheduler, and it looks like he'll have to fly into the family reunion, skip the wedding the next weekend, but then it should be good for WDW! I told him, frankly, that I'd rather he come to FL than to the wedding, if we had to choose. And so... I'm not telling my mom this, though.
Oh - and I'm cracking up because I'm watching Family Guy right now, and it's the one where Stewie gets lost at WDW and is chained to IaSW as a "new recruit." :rolleyes1 :rotfl:
