On our lovely Disneymoon adventure will be myself and my DFi, Blake :lovestruc .
Here we are, old pic, Dec. 2006, but one of my favs!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/winterformal.jpg

And everyday we decide we are more excited about disney than the wedding...

About Us~

Me ~ 22 ~ Graphic Designer
Lover of all things Disney!
Favorite Ride ~ Splash Mountain
Favorite Park ~ Magic Kingdom
Looking forward to: besides being just married...the food! I'm a HUGE foodie!
Ride fears: NONE, unless I've just eaten...haha

DFi ~ 24 ~ Insurance Broker & works part time in baseball ops with the Milwaukee Brewers
Lover of all things Walt Disney! (must have read every biography on him!)
Favorite Ride ~ Undecided
Favorite Park ~ Epcot
Looking forward to: Being in Disneyworld with someone who likes it just as much as he does :-)
Ride Fears: Heights...

We become the lovey-dovey all-mushy happy couple on May 31st :bride: and will leave for WDW with huge smiles on our faces June 1st. We then will go to Colorado for a second reception the following Sunday June 8th. And because of travels on the arrival and departure day will have a full SIX days in the World. But I like to think of it as June 1st - June 8th...because it just *sounds* longer!
Watch out, sappy, sad moment coming up

UPDATEBecause of reasons beyond my control, we will be leaving on Saturday, not Sunday, with only 4 days in the world, and one day of rest. Oh well, I can be grateful that we get to go. So many people I know would be thrilled to even get the opportunity go, but probably will never have the chance. *sappy moment of true colors coming through*

Sappy sad moment is now over...

We will be staying offsite in Blake's parent's timeshare condo, Worldmark Orlando. I don't know much about it other than its about 15 minutes to the entrance of the park, and on that infamous International Drive I keep hearing about. Either way I am excited to stay here. We'll see what it ends up being like when we get there! Next time, totally staying on property and getting the DDP!

We have made three ADRs per our budget. One for breakfast, one for lunch and one for dinner based on where we were going to be on which day.

Monday - Liberty Tree Tavern Lunch
Thursday - Boma Breakfast (I'm so excited for this one!!)
Friday - Coral Reef Dinner

I have been using TourGuideMike.com and the "Unofficial Guide" for all my trip plans and and am always changing my mind! But we'll have to see what we end up doing when we actually get there. I have a feeling I'll completely forget I had a plan and just turn into a five year old fascinated by every little thing, "Look Blake, a castle! Oohh, the statue, oh and rides! MICKEY!... Touring plan? What touring plan?"

I should mention I have a small obsession with Pirates of the Caribbean and I do think that its a little pathetic, but oh well. I heard about the P&PP about six months ago and thought, "How lame is that..."But after little more research I heard that lots of adults have fun too. Got Blake to jump on board by mentioning the lesser amounts of people and then rides that will be open. Hopefully it will be a good investment after all hyped I am about it!

And last but not least we will be sporting the bride and groom ears. Blake's are already on their way and I have yet to buy mine yet (I am an avid bargain hunter!). I have also begun to purchase other fun things for the trip like new clothes because I can never have enough, on sale of course!

Thats all for now! Now I guess I should get back to work...:sad2:

LOOK! I got a package in the mail today and look what was inside!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/669b_1.jpg

DFi tried it on and it was a little small for him. And his head isn't that big :confused3

Oh well. I think he looks great in it. I can't wait to get my minnie bride ears. I wanted them for wedding pictures, but I can't find them anywhere for purchase that would justify it financially! I found one for $25 plus $8 shipping. I KNOW they must be cheaper in the World. Anyone know how much they cost?

I am getting very stressed out about the wedding right now too. I am taking on the task of making my own programs and it has turned to be a nightmare. I thought my little printer could print them just fine, but instead it doesn't print on the paper right at all! So now I have to find a printer.

OH, and weddings cost way more than you could ever think they would. There are tons of additional details like, gifts for everyone according to etiquette...gifts for bridesmaids, gifts for ushers, gifts for close family that traveled a long ways to the wedding, gifts for parents, gifts for each other. It adds up so fast!!

Back to Disney! I am so excited than in one month I will be in Disney with my husband. I will be far away from this reality and escape to a world where everything is magical and anything can happen with a little pixie dust!

Next up: FOOD! YUMMMMMY!!! In other words, I'm trying to figure out good places to eat counter service food at. If anyone has ideas, let me know! I also want to know what snacks are worth the splurge!

So me, the disney nutcase that I am (thinking of seeking treatment actually...) wants to spend every waking moment in the parks. I haven't been in 11 years and barely remember what it even looks like! SO I should right?

I mean, we are going to be away from the parks until around 5 PM to lay low until the P&PP. Am I ridicilous...well DFi thinks I am.

DFi and I keep having convos like this:

"Think we should go to the beach one day?"
"If you want to, I guess...maybe just part of a day..."
"Well I want to go to Tampa too.."
"Okay, well we can do that on Wednesday, our day off"
"But thats on the other side of the state, we can't do both in one day."
"So you're telling me we're spending two days away from the parks?"
"Well, I guess one and a half, we'll just see how we feel when we get there."
"BUT we have to have a plan, I need to plan it!"
"Do you have to plan everything?"
*secretly to myself* "yes, because our trip would fall apart and be absolutely miserable unless I plan, I must!!!"

I think its like a secret way that people know your marriage will be okay, if you survive the engagement and dealing with all the planning!

Oh I wish it was just me, planning for just me. But its me, planning for a "small" wedding of 100 people. And getting "ideas and input" from people who want to "help" make things run smoothly. Oh, I'm not bitter. I just can't wait to go to WDW and be with the one I love, and only have to hear his input. Just one person, not 15 family members!

My parents were just in Jacksonville, FL for a Golf tourney and said that it was really humid, like 75% humidity while they were there. Having lived on the west coast and in Arizona most my life, I am not used to humidity at all. I am worried that I will just be miserable in the heat.

I have shorts and tank tops for three days so far and I will probably bring jeans too because I live in them and feel so comfortable in them. You know when you put on that certain clothing item and you just know they look great on you?

DFi doesn't really care about what he wears or what he packs. We went to Colorado last Christmas for 8 days and he brought 2 pairs of jeans, I brought 6 pairs of pants and 2 pairs of lounge/pajama pants, if that explains our differences at all. :rotfl:

I also want to get some new shoes for the trip but am running out of time. I live in flip flops and that is usually what I wear to DL, but DFi wants me to wear shoes...ugh. I have some that I like but I don't have any that I've worn for a long period of time. And also, I've never been the type of girl to wear "athletic/running" shoes with my jeans and tank top (too much of a matchy matchy girly girl :cutie: ). Those are only for working out for me!

Wedding stress is getting the best of me. I feel overwhelmed and unable to please anyone. So here I am on DIS trying to get a fix of happiness before conquering the rest of the to-do list this afternoon.

Not enough hours in the day!

Coming up next...What have I found out about the place we are staying at? Do I have a final itinerary? Will DFi be satisfied with just ONE day to tour around Orlando, or will I have to give up another day at the parks?

So DFi calls me at work yesterday to inform me that we are leaving early so that we can be sure we make our second reception back in his parent's hometown. Well, this wouldn't have been a problem except it was our ONLY scheduled night to see both Spectro and Wishes, and our only night in the MK...

Needless to say I am WAAAY to busy to make changes with the itinerary unless we completely miss a park. WDW is impossible in 5 days. And am really worried now that I won't be able to see either Spectro or Wishes...

I'm trying so hard to understand its because DFi is seriously worried about our plane being delayed and not able to attend our own reception! But I just want to say, screw it, lets day in WDW til I'm expected back at work!! :sad2:

My explanation...in the midst of frustration, I always seem to leave out important details...

We have a reception on Sunday evening that we have to prepare and get ready for. It starts at 6 and we'll need to be ready to go by like 4:30. Our plane was not scheduled to arrive in Denver until 2:30 and the airport is an hour from the house. His entire family is full of worriers and they are all thinking that something will happen and we won't be there on time, blah blah blah. Which would be okay, but the party is for us...so we should probably be there.

DFi just told me he will be trying his best to get us the latest flight out of Orlando on Saturday, which I'm really hoping for a like, 11:30 PM, and then someone oh so glorious can pick us up at the airport around 3 AM. Oh well, at least we'll be there, and on time and not rushing around.

I wish we could just schedule the flight whenever we want, but as I'm sure you all know, different times equal different $$$...which is SUPER important to a young married couple!

Thought I would drop by your PTR since you came to my TR :rotfl:. Have you tried calling WDW merchandise about the Minnie Bride Ears to see how much they are?

Also, a little advice to someone that has been married before. If you feel more comfortable in the flip flops wear the flip flops. He might want you to wear shoes, but you know what is most comfortable for your feet. The fast trip you are taking means lots of walking and if flip flops keep your feet happy, wear them. It is best to set boundries in the beginning :lmao:.

Sounds like you are under a lot of stress. Just remember that stress will go out the window when you see this:

Thanks! The wedding and Disney at the same time is quite stressful, I just focus on the fact that Disney involves 2 people, and my wedding involves a 100, so Disney stress is so much more fun!

I had to change our itinerary - which means giving up an extra morning in epcot and extra evening in MK, but oh well. I think we'll actually end up seeing spectro and wishes on our second night there (unless our traveling goes by really fast and we can go the night we arrive!) I knew with some careful planning I'd still be able to see the most important things!

Thanks for the marriage advice! I didn't know that there was a number to call for to see the price for the ears. I bid on some on ebay and lost by 50 cents! Maybe I will call them today. And thanks for the picture! It made me smile big!

Thanks! I am excited too. I just want the stress to end. I think anyone who gets engaged is actually just under a stress management test to see if they can actually survive a marriage. :lmao:

Rental Cars

So we got our rental car for the trip. Looks like DFi took a hint that I wasn't about to drive around in a tiny car when we were used to so much space back at home. Looks like we'll get a Pontiac G6 or Ford Fusion. Wish they could give us a G6 convertible!!

http://www.automedia.com/NewCarBuyersGuide2008/photos/2008/Pontiac/G6/Convertible/2008_Pontiac_G6_ext_1.jpg

Our 2 Bedroom Condo - What will we do with all the space?

I am so glad that we have this place to retreat to during the hot & humid afternoons. I think it will be about a 30 minute drive from the TTC to the hotel, but it could be more or less depending on traffic. I am excited to just be there and immersed in my first "adult" vacation without responsibilites (chapperoning various events and youth trips, and even those with friends, ugh). Also, this will be my first trip where I basically get to make the game plan each day. Thank goodness DFi doesn't care about planning like I do. Can you imagine two of me? :lmao:

Here is the outside view of the hotel. First impression, I could get used to this!

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/orlando_ov_3b.jpg

Inside one of the condos, I am guessing the main living/dining area. Looks like a great place to have a nice breakfast, or even lunch and dinner too!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/orlando_am_2b.jpg

Nice looking and relaxing pool. I doubt we'll lay out by the pool because we'll probably end up at Blizzard Beach because of our Water Park Fun & More option. But I'm sure they might have a hot tub that would be a great end to a fun day.

>>>>June 20 - Final version due
>>>>June 23 - Start Large Print version of project
>>>>June 27 - Final version of Large Print due
June 29 - Leave for San Diego as a leader for summer camp (DFi coming too)
July 4 - Return
July 5 - Finally have a life...

Oh man! So there you have it. 4 days of wedding activities, 6 days of disney, 4 days of Colorado, 3 days at my parents house, and finally into our OWN house.

As for trip plans, we are now down to 2 ADR - Boma and Coral Reef. Our other ADR just didn't fit into our plans. Oh well. We figure if we see something we really want we'll just eat during an off time! I think that this will work out really well for us since we can just eat when we feel like it, and not on schedule. I hate doing that. Plus, now we can just enjoy being where we are, and not worry about where our next ADR is...Don't get me wrong though, I do look forward to visiting many TS Restaurants on another visit, perhaps when we're actually on the Dining Plan!

I had hoped that we could go to DL later this year since we are cutting our WDW trip short, but DFi said, "Sorry..." after I did some pricing research. It just isn't doable to have a wedding and two vacations in one year. So I think we'll be saving up to go next year at some point and be able to splurge a little at DL; instead of going later this year and staying at the 1 star hotel 10 miles away for 2 nights and getting a one day, non-hopper ticket and eating McDonalds for every meal (What a lovely, romantic trip! Uh, I'll pass on that!)

Also I really think it would be good to just not go on vacation for a little bit. I've been away a lot lately, and was gone on about 4 trips last year. I don't want to spoil myself and be disappointed later on...after all, I have no idea when our next WDW will be. We had talked about doing a trip for my parents 25th Wedding Aniversary in 2010. I want to do it before my dad gets "too old" to really enjoy WDW - he is in his mid 60s...and already goes to bed around 8:30 every night :confused3 while my mom is :surfweb: and I am :happytv: when I'm not :laundy: or :bride:

DFi is sick right now and I really hope that I don't catch whatever he has. Its one of those miserable allergy related cold things that just inhibit you from getting anything productive done. Also has made him extra hungry and tired. YAY for me...oh well...I just hope that we are both healthy and well on the wedding day and trip. One of our friends went to Mexico and got food poisoning on his honeymoon. I dearly hope that doesn't happen to us, especially not in the World! :sad2:

Okay well that is all the time I have for now.

Coming up...What romantic surprises have I planned? What will I do will all the air travelling/layover time?

I want to have some romantic surprises planned for our WDW trip. I know its a little to late to plan anything really cool but I have a few just fun ideas that don't need a lot of extra attention (which is good, considering I don't even have time for myself right now!).

1. I want to plan a fun evening revolved around our favorite memories in dating. I was thinking of grabbing ice cream one night and sitting out near water somewhere (boardwalk maybe????) and just people watching. This is what we did one night when we really expressed our commitment to each other and really marked the beginning of our more serious, marriage headed, relationship.

2. We are having dinner at Coral Reef on Friday night (our last night) and I heard that we can have a diver display a message while we are eating. I was thinking of having something like, "Congratulations Blake & Julie!" But I am open to other ideas!

3. This isn't so much romantic as it is thoughtful. If I have the time, I think it would be cool to have an envelope for him to open every day that has a "coupon(s)" valid for that day. Things like, "Valid for one no explanation needed leaving of any park at any time." This will be great because DFi is a very very impatient person and he hates nothing more than lines! Maybe also a, "No complaints, we are doing this next" for whenever he wants to stray away from the plan. Maybe I'll throw in a "Back Massage" or something of the like to keep it "honeymoon-ish."

4. I've read about a lot of little "hideway" spots around the park that are more secluded and quite. I think it would be fun to just sit back and relax at these spots and just savor the moments when I'm not trying to figure out where the next attraction is and how long the wait will be and timing fast past tickets with return times...Basically, allowing us time to just be with each other and without the chaos. This really will be a treat to him because he is expecting me to be turbo planning crazy person must visit every attraction...and I plan to be the most easy-going he has ever seen me since I'll be so happy all the wedding stress is gone.

5. I can't think of anymore...can you help? Or do I have enough??

Next...Airplane Traveling???

wow you will be a busy girl in the next few weeks!! But it will all be so worth it , once it is over.. I love the idea of your coupons everyday, I think that is cute :)

Good luck with the diver sign, that would be a neat surprise for him too..
sending you some pixie dust that you don't get his cold/sinus thing....

Thanks! I think the coupons will be fun for both of us!

And his cold is over, woohoo! So now I'm just taking vitamin C and making sure I get plenty of sleep!

Hi Everyone,

I've been so busy with the wedding stuff that I haven't had time to do any DIS. See, I've had this awful nightmare with DIY wedding programs that I thought would be pretty simple. The plan: Take two sheets of paper, print a square design on both, one being the front, the other the back. Cut out the paper into a square, then glue one side and put a large popsicle stick down and then place the other square on top. What do you have? A wedding program fan! But after three different print shop issues and a major meltdown, I had to print them myself and recruited the help of my bridesmaids to work on them for four hours straight yesterday...and another three later today. Ugh...

BUT NOW...DISNEY STUFF!

First of all, here are some pictures from my last and ONLY trip to the world when I was a young kiddie of 11yo.

Ha, DFi just reminded me that I need to get ready to go to meet my friends to do the programs...my thoughts, *i just need a little DIS*

Congrat's on your wedding this week! Take some time on your honeymoon to relax, you'll need it!

DH and I also had to rush home to make our reception after our honeymoon. It kind of put a damper on the honeymoon but it was a really nice WELCOME Home! Then we went back to WDW for a second honeymoon of sorts for our 2nd anny!

Go and get ice-cream or something sweet at the Boardwalk Bakery. From there you can watch the fireworks for Illuminations and it's so beautiful to walk around that resort area. It's one of my favorite ways to spend an evening!

Okay...so here is how the packing is coming along. Keep in mind I was wedding planning all weekend and spent over 8 hours putting together programs!

And DFi's Bag...its already packed and ready to go! So jealous when he told me that!

And scrapbooking stuff for when we get back
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/DISpic35.jpg

OH, and now some clothes...I got these both on sale, top was only $6 and I have another like it so I didn't have to try it on, YES!

Another outfit for the trip...
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/DISpic38.jpg

And a dress that was FREE...(borrowed from a friend!)

Bag I plan on carrying around the parks:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/DISpic5.jpg

Bag that DFi will actually wear, and hopefully will bring to the parks so I don't have to wear mine the entire trip!
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/hurleysweety/DISpic7.jpg

Next up...final prep and things I still need to plan and figure out!

Capitan Jack likes to remind me of my busy week ahead...

Back in the day when DFi and I first started dating and he was a young lad with those oh so infamous, I am a man and I am just having fun and won't commit and will not get married blah blah feelings, we went to a wedding and he said, "Best part of the wedding is the presents."

Now he said, *sappy moment* "The best part of the wedding is you and that you'll be my wife...etc etc....but I don't mind all these gifts...and disney too OF course!"

Everything looks great!! I am so jealous that you are so close to your wedding date!!
You'll be there soon! Enjoy the time you have otherwise it will pass by. Its really a fun journey coming down to these last few days. Its like you think of all the things that must happen before you get married. Maybe its someone's surprise party, or a certain holiday, or a completion of a project at work. And suddenly all those things are over and done, and its like, "Oh, it must be time for the wedding now!"

everything looks great! That is very thoughtful to do gift baskets for your out of town guests...

The gift baskets were super easy - just lots of food we know they like and cute baskets! And I always seem to go above and beyond when it comes to things like this...lol.
Where did you get those tops, they are super cute :)

Just heard a collision outside my office. Two cars are involved. Someone just crashed into a sign that has our office building's name on it on the corner! I'm not sure of any details yet, but if you are the believing kind and read this, go ahead and lift up a word for the victims of what could be a fatal accident. :worried:

hurleysweety
05-27-2008, 05:01 PM
I did some research today and found that we can go back to the world during free dining next year (Sept. 2009) *crosses fingers* and probably fit it into our budget (Staying at a value resort, of course)! But considering that Disney's 40th Anniversary is in 2011, I doubt DFi will want to go in 2009 and 2011 too

**Side Note**Another accident just happened outside my office - just a fender bender though, but seriously...I'm almost afraid to drive! **End Note**

Anyway, I'm pretty sure DFi will want to wait til 2011 and do an all out splurge trip. We both really want to stay at Grand Floridian someday. And someday before we have kids so we can cut down the costs there. So that might be a great opportunity to go on our "dream" vacation. But if that happens, that means no WDW til 2011 - thats 3 years! I'm pretty sure after this trip I won't want to leave and will want to plan another one the minute that I get back! (Following suit of other fellow DISers who have such the blessing to do so!)

So what do I do? I could not mention my dream to go all out in 2011 and celebrate our 3rd Anniversary and Disney's 40th...and go in 2009 and randomly bring it up AFTER we get back ;)

Or I could mention us going as an annual trip and try to budget for it every year, which would include 2011, but then it wouldn't be that fantastic hope and dream magic that I so desperately want! :)

OR, I could *sob* forget WDW :worried: and push all my pixie dust on DFi in hopes of getting an Annual Pass for DL and going twice a year and then making WDW a splurge trip in the future when we can afford it...or when we can't wait any longer!

I think that since the wedding planning is so stressful I will just have to DIS more since it relaxes me. No kidding :goodvibes

I'm so excited! We'll be in WDW in 4 short days! But before that my out of town bridesmaid flies in, all family flies in, we have a rehearsal and a rehearsal dinner. We also will have all the getting ready and final prep and then i WALK DOWN THE AISLE to GET MARRIED! Then we have a reception and then we stay at a really nice hotel and then we get up and

FLY TO DISNEYWORLD!

Not like I'm excited or anything...

Oh, one more question for you all out there reading...

Anyone know what the toll roads cost around the world? We'll be staying on Int'l Drive and were wondering how much change we would need?

Also, if there was one restaurant, price is a factor, that I did not miss, what would it be, and why? (Right now we only plan on eating at Boma and Coral Reef)

We are getting married outside at a golf course and having the reception there as well. My church doesn't have a great sanctuary as it was built to be converted into a gym once they eventually build a giant auditorium some day...:confused3
