Candy Wrapper DISigns

[Telynn]

Hi!

I've decided to create two sizes of candy wrappers: 1.5 oz Hershey Bar (aka: "regular" size) and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup size. If you need a different size bar, you can either PM me and I'll will try to find or create a template for the size you need and resize for you or you can resize in most any graphics program. (I'm not sure how well they resize in MS Word or MS Power Point.)

As a reminder to maintain the correct sizing, right click on image and "Save As" then open/insert in program you are using to print. (If you copy then past the image into your program, the size proportions WILL be off and they will not fit the candy.)

Just in case you need to resize the image due to program restrictions, here are the measurements:

Hershey 1.5 oz wrapper

Long side 5.50 inches
Short side 5.25 inches

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Long side 6.00 inches
Short side 4.13 inches

Just wanted to say, once again, that the Cat in the Hat wrapper is awesome. It's making the cutest teacher Thank You gifts - and getting rave reviews. I"ve been personalizing some of them with the teacher names and then made a few of the nuggets to go along with it.

Maybe I'll get motivated enough to make up some bars for our Wonder cruise in two weeks. OR, maybe I should think about packing!

I have a request. My DD (age 11) wants to be a Disney Dream Team member for Career Day at school. The only problem is Career Day is in 2 days. I just found out about this morning. Unfortunately, I haven't saved this as a blank/editable version. If you are using a graphic program to edit, just "paint" over the wording and enter what you'd like. If you are using MS Word or PowerPoint, you can create a text box with a background fill.

If you'd like, I do have time to make changes to the text. Either PM me or enter the info here with what you'd like.

Hi!

Unfortunately I don't have access to my files right now (I'm at my Mom and Dad's in another part of the state) and I am unable to resize this for you.

You can insert the image into a MS Word file and, using the photo resizing tool, shrink to fit the regular bar. Unfortunately this will make the side bars move to the top of the bar and everything will look squished.

If there is another DISigner who can step in an assist you, I really won't mind since I cannot do this for you on such short notice.

Not a problem. Our last day of school isn't until Jun 19th. If you are able to get to that is great and if not its not a big deal at all. I have seen Amys and they are quite cute as well, but I am known as the disney nut at their school lol

Quick question-the nugget size-are those for the Hershey nuggets? If so I would like the request the DCL one and the Disney pirate one.
May seem like a stupid question-but what's the best paper to print these on?

One more thing-some of us have requested Mickey head designs with Parrothead Pirates in Paradise saying with the Pirate Mickey with his foot on a treasure chest. I don't know how to insert my image of it because it's in my personal directory. Have you seen those designs? Anyway-I wanted to see if I could get the reg size wrappers with that Pirate Mickey saying Parrothead Pirates in Paradise and the date October 11-18, 2008

Quick question-the nugget size-are those for the Hershey nuggets? If so I would like the request the DCL one and the Disney pirate one.
May seem like a stupid question-but what's the best paper to print these on?

One more thing-some of us have requested Mickey head designs with Parrothead Pirates in Paradise saying with the Pirate Mickey with his foot on a treasure chest. I don't know how to insert my image of it because it's in my personal directory. Have you seen those designs? Anyway-I wanted to see if I could get the reg size wrappers with that Pirate Mickey saying Parrothead Pirates in Paradise and the date October 11-18, 2008

Yes, the nugget size are for the Hershey nuggets. I have been told they also fit the Nestle Treasures and the mini rolls of Lifesavers.

Now that I have the stick figure families on hiatus, I am working on a series of holiday bar, matchbook, and nugget wrappers for Back to School, Halloween, Thanksgiving (US), Christmas, and New Years. (If I can find more clipart and can learn more about the celebrations, I hope to add Hanukkah and Kwanza too - any help here would be appreciated!)

I won't be personalizing stick figure families until after the Labor Day Weekend--even then it will be on a limited basis since I only have time to design on the weekends.

I've added your request for the nugget character to match this Pirate Mickey. I hope to get to it by next weekend.

As for the paper type...good question. I've had success using regular copy paper (20 weight). I've also used high gloss paper for a more professional look. The biggest thing I found that made things look great was to have a way to cut a straight edge--either paper cutter or xacto knife/metal straight edge.

It looks like we need to cut these into pieces, and attach the feet and the head after wrapping the nugget (3 steps for each nugget)...but that seems like we are making it harder than it needs to be

Can you or someone share what's worked for others in the past?
Should we use sticky label stock or just paper with tape or possibly use a glue stick?

I use a semi gloss paper when I print. I print the design, cut it to size, then use double-sided tape to secure to a wrapped bar.

Yes, it is brochure paper. I found mine at Staples. I imagine one could locate this at most office supply stores.

If you cannot locate the paper, no worries. The DISign will still look okay--just not as vivid (photo paper is WAY too expensive and stiff.)

Yep...that's exactly what it is...three parts. I've used a glue stick to put the feet and face on...others have used doublesided tape...

Telynn referred me to this thread for the nuggets. There are some photos of the matchbook covers there. I wound up making some. I don't have photos taken yet. Plus, I don't know how to post yet. I got 8 covers to fit on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstocks. I used Word to cut and paste. Make sure to choose borderless for papertype and set margin to zero. They came out so cute. I used lifesaver mints and reg lifesavers. Hope that helps.

Yes, I've added your requests to my weekend "to do" list.

Although I am not familiar with the Paintmast Pro program, any graphics, scrapbook, illustration, card making, word, or power point program will work. It's just a matter of experimenting and finding what works for you.

Thank you for the compliment! I wish I could be of assistance in teaching you your program, but I am completely unfamiliar with that program. I know only the basics of Paint Shop Pro X and am trying to teach myself Adobe Photoshop (full version not elements) Maybe starting a new thread and asking if anyone else out there uses your program, you can help each other!
