I can't be at the Memorial Service for Bawb, or in WDW to lift and photo a Dole Whip in his name, so I thought I would try to make one at home and toast to Bawb's memory on the 4th. I will be with you in spirit.

Two versions of the famous DOLE WHIP recipe.
================================
DOLE WHIP (VERSION 1)

1 quart Dole pineapple juice
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups heavy whipping cream
3 cups sugar
Milk

Mix the pineapple juice and sugar, making sure that the sugar is dissolved.
Next add the cream and vanilla.
Pour the whole mixture into a 4-quart ice cream maker.
Add milk to finish, filling to the fill line.
At this point simply follow the instructions on your ice cream maker.
When the ice cream is ready you can serve it as is or you can stick it in the freezer for a while and let it set up a bit.

===========================================

DOLE WHIP (VERSION 2)

Prep: 10 min.
Freeze: 3 hrs.
Makes: 8 servings

Ingredients:

2 cans (20 oz. each) DOLE Crushed
Pineapple
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped

Drain pineapple; reserve 2 tablespoons
juice. Set aside.

Place pineapple, lemon juice, lime juice,
sugar and reserved pineapple juice in
blender or food processor container. Cover;
blend until smooth.

Pour into two 1-quart freezer zipped bags.
Store bags flat in freezer. Freeze about 1-
1/2 hours or until slushy.

Stir gently pineapple slush into whipped
cream until just blended, in large bowl.
Return to freezer until completely frozen,
about 1 hour. Serve.

Thanks for posting these! I was just cleaning out a closet and rediscovered my ice cream maker so I think I will try the first recipe and have a moment to honor Bawb on Sunday afternoon.

Hmmmm... I wanna try this, but I don't think they sell crushed pineapple here, and I don't have an Ice Cream Maker..... I wonder if i could just mash up pineapple pieces :confused:

Maybe you could make a "sort of Dole Whip" Pineapple juice, vanilla ice cream. pineapple, maybe some pineapple sherbert...toss it in a blender and make a smoothie. It won't be the same but it is the thought that counts.

It will be like how we watched Bobs Kart Kham videos. It is not the same as being there, but its pretty dang good!!

Here's a way to make ice cream in a bag. It's a fun little thing. I'm sure you could adapt the recipe.

For those less inclined to make it:
Häagen-Dazs makes a pineapple coconut ice cream. It's the time reflecting on Bob that counts. :)

Good thought, but I need the pineapple flavour ice cream, since I'm not abig fan of the ice cream and the juice, just the ice cream...

Also, followed the link posted but what is half and half???

I bought a Mickey balloon in town today and have printed off the graphic Will and Corey designed and am going to place that on the balloon and let it go at 8pm UK time which is 3pm Florida time just as the service starts :hug:

I think it is 1/2 cream 1/2 milk. I am not really sure. But it is a dairy product and the grocery stores sell it in the same cooler as the milk. Tt is near the whipping cream and butter milk and coffee creamers.

Not sure we have it in the UK but you could try single cream Charlotte - that sounds the same kind of idea :cutie:

That sounds like a really nice idea. Shame we're on opposite sides of the country, otherwise I'd join you.

I'm having my homemade "Dole Whip" right now.

I'm just sorry for this darn lousy excuse to make it. :guilty: Will miss ya, Bawb.

I just finished my makeshift dole whip float! I took a little vanilla ice cream and poured pineapple juice over it. It was actually very yummy!!

Thinking of you Bawb!
