After many years of doing the autograph book thing, I thought it would be fun to have my 3 kids get baseball hats signed instead. I bought them the plain hats that Walmart sells for like $2 a piece. They are a little on the thin side but not too bad. I also want to get them a pen to have them signed with, but what would be better a pen or a marker? Can anyone recommend a certain tip, or brand? I know they need to be fat so the characters can grip them better, but I wanted to get expert opinions from those who may have done the hat thing before....So what better place to ask than the DISboards?? TIA!:)

Depending on the colors of the hats, maybe a fine-line sharpie? Or many in different colors? It might look really neat on a white or khaki hat to have signatures in a rainbow of colors. ;)
I had Harry Caray (probably spelled wrong) sign a hat in a thinline sharpie when I was a kid (about 18 years ago) and it's still held up fine. They don't seem to bleed quite like the regular sharpies do.
There's also fabric markers out there that are permanent. If you look at Hobby Lobby or Michael's they will probably have them.
