There is a billboard (http://www.slate.com/id/2190209/?from=rss) in China, on Beijing's Xinjiekou Nandajie Avenue, a busy commercial thoroughfare about a mile west of the Forbidden City, where a girl who looked all of 12, reclining in a matching bra-and-panties set adorned with Disney's signature mouse-ear design.

Holy Cow...that's actually kind of creepy!

And I'm about as liberal as they come...it's kind of odd that they would pick a non Chinese girl to do the ad...at least it's odd to me....

It looks to me like a pretty modest two-piece swimsuit. There will be girls wearing far less at the local pool within a month.

I find the pig-tails and puppets for an adolescent model more disturbing-- it's kind of fetishy.

Not untypical for Asia where white female models are often used. You should see some of the advertisements in Japan!

Exactly my point...creepy.

Bob, I really had no idea! I'm not nearly as worldly as I like to pretend I am!:upsidedow

I agree with you. Maybe bras and panties are cut differently in China, but it looks to me like a 2 piece bathing suit. And, if you look, the model does have some cleavage so I'm betting she's closer to 18, if not older than that, if you think. I'm 24 and people often think I'm only 16.

The puppets were slightly weird. Wether I was buying panties and bras or a swimsuit, the puppets would not sway me to them.

Very creepy.. the underwear set is cute though!! I think Disney needs to step in here... it does seem very fetish-y.

While I'm against the exploitation of children as much as anyone, from what I see there it's just an underwear ad. What, kids aren't supposed to wear underwear?

why dig this thread up? Its 2010......Last post was in 2008. Is there more to add to the story? If not let it die as it did before.

I read an article on this, the Disney Company is just as suprised as us, they dont know the girl's age or what date the photoshoot happened, it all happened under their noses by another company who manfactures the panties.

Nothing can be as worse as Miley Cyrus though.

they're advertising underwear for children. what else would you expect as a model than a child the age of which the underwear is aimed at?
