Ladies - i just wanted to share something that I am very proud of myself for doing. i quit smoking! yup, after 18 years of off and on smoking I came to the point in my life where I knew I needed to quit. While i was in Disneyland I started backing off almost cold turkey. But I was down from half a pack a day to only 2. today marks my one week. I haven't had one since last Sunday night.

It has taken everything in me not to buy a pack or bum one from anyone at work. I have gotten cravings so bad i feel like I could chew off someones head. I get this huge knot in my chest when i want one and I breath deep and try to calm my anxiety.

Anyways I wanted to share more because the support of friends makes it easier for me.

You all are so awesome! I'm sure I will be leaning on you all as the first few days were super hard but it seems like when I'm at work it's REALLY hard. i never smoked in my house or cars and never around my kids. i figured it was my habit not theirs.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get the counter to work.

Great Job!

$71 for 2 weeks! It's easy to start spending that money on normal budget stuff. But if I were you, I'd keep track of your normal cig money and put it in a savings account or piggy bank. In 84 weeks (which is about a year and a half) you would have saved $3000, and you could do a nice WDW trip for $3000. :goodvibes

I've made it 3 weeks with out a smoke, yes it's still a daily stuggle but it's getting better. I'm not thinking about it as much and I believe I should have stock in the gum, corn nuts and Beef jerky markets..lol... I can't believe I'm actually making this work I am so proud. The money we are saving seems to be going to the extra cost of gas & groceries!

Thank you all for your kind words and support it really has meant alot to me

Are you stressing about something else?

Grab the phone book and hit yourself over the head everytime you think about a craving. Pretty soon you'll knock yourself out and woohoo no more craving. :rotfl2:

Seriously, we do need to find you another outlet that is not food related. That is the second reason ex-smokers gain weight. Their metabolism changes and they start to snack instead.

Is there someone you can call? Like they do for Jenny Craig.

Right now I'm at work,. I've tried the gum, went outside and got some air, it's starting to go away. I just haven't had an urge this strong in awhile. I'm not stressing anymore than I normally do at work. Thanks ladies for being with me in my moment of pure panic. the lady who sits behind me said I'm going to go smoke and I asked her to not say it outloud. I'm trying not to do the whole eating every time I want to smoke I don't need any more weight. I want to lose what I have but One thing at a time.

It does help to "talk" to you all because I know you understand plus 2 of the ladies I work with are so encouraging but hearing you all makes me feel alot better than them. Thanks! I know I can do thispopcorn::

Actually, that is a pretty good snack. If you concentrate on only eating one piece at a time, it'll take forever to finish.

Congratulations for quitting smoking! My mom was a smoker for 40+ years, had a stroke, several other ailments (including almost losing a leg due to circulation issues and she has inoperable kidney cancer, fortunately right now it's not bothering her) and was told she MUST quit. I thought she had but my friend caught her with a ziggy a few weeks back.
You should be very proud of yourself... I know I am :thumbsup2
