View Full Version : Probably not getting the DDP...

Please tell me if my thinking is flawed!

We are staying seven nights this Oct/Nov but will arrive late in the day and depart early in the day. So really we will be eating out five days but my understanding is you pay a daily rate times your length of stay.

Also, my understanding is that you have to buy a WDW package to get the DDP. Right now I have our resort room booked through AAA and will probably purchase tickets from AAA right before our trip. If for some reason we have to cancel I can return the tickets unused and I think we lose just our resort deposit (one night) if we cancel within five days. We are a seven hour drive away so no airline tickets to worry about. If we buy a package I'm thinking we would want trip insurance.

Another reason - I do see how for some the DDP is a great deal, especially if you have kids (we have three under 10) and do several buffet meals. But we are not planning a TS meal every single day, and there are times we will grab a quick breakfast or a snadwich in our room. We would like to maximize our time in the parks this trip - my youngest is three and we will have to take time for a nap break every day. Plus we want to stay flexible and not be tied down to too many ADRs.

Just thought I would run it by the experts. When I quickly add up what I think our meals/snacks will cost I find that we are not spending more than the DDP. Am I missing something? I do definitely see how for some it is a good deal, just maybe not us this trip.

Sounds like you would be best off going with the plans you already have in place and skipping DDP. :)

The rate you pay is per night you stay. Only you know if your eating/spending will make it a good deal for you. We nearly always get the plan, went without on a couple only trip 2 years ago, thinking we would not eat as much, money wise would have still come out ahead, but it doesn't work for everyone.

Have a great trip whatever you decide!
