Just a quick reminder of who you are going to be dealing with....
ME:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0920.jpg
Not much more to say about me that wasn't already said in the PTR (I recommend reading at least the first few pages). Oh....I say "dude" and "sweet" WAY too much.
My DH, The Hunka Hunka Burning Geek (HHBG):
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0961.jpg
Again, good description on the PTR....he was back on World of Warcrach within 5 minutes of our walking in the front door. I forced him to get an account here, so he may pop in from time to time with thoughts, but usually he considers this "MY" board.
Spencer, 5:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN1162.jpg
He was pretty good this trip. He's easily distracted, though.
Brianna, 4:
Became the tantrum queen. She never got enough sleep all trip....

Oh, and remember this picture??

Here's this year's version!

Ok, we'll bust into the TR soon. HHBG just ticked me off, and I need to go calm down. :headache:

Chapter 1: The great Wake up, and is our driver trying to kill us??
So, our great Disney trip starts with the great wake up. HHBG had gone to bed around 1 am. I decided to join him, though I barely slept. I was too afraid of sleeping through the alarm.
Finally, at 3:30, his phone went off, and he and I took our showers. I went in to check on B, and SHE WASN’T THERE!! Where was she!? I figured she had probably snuck into her brother’s room, since we had so many fights with them the night before to go to bed.
Well, I looked and she wasn’t on the floor, or on his giant dog....where was she?? :confused3
Suddenly my brain said this to me: “Wait a minute....Spencer has four legs.....is he a mutant?”
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0900.jpg
Nope. She’s asleep in the bed with him
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0901.jpg
We got all of the bags and stuff down to the curb and waited for the car driver to call us that he was here. The call came at 3:50, so we each grabbed a sleeping kid and went out to the car.
We all loaded into the back seat and were off! Disney HERE WE COME!! :cool1: :cool1:
Uh....does the driver realise that’s a concrete divider he’s headed straight towards?? :scared:
GAH!! Is he trying to wake us up by swerving at the nick of time?? :scared1:
Now he’s taking up 2 lanes of traffic.....:scared: :scared1:
Maybe we should suggest that he turn on some hard rock music??? :rockband:
Finally, after many scares, we get to the airport....and are the FIRST ONES on line at the ticketing counter! Score!! We get our seat assignments, and go through security.
Wait a minute....our boarding passes say row 1, seats a, c, f, and d.....uh.....dude, are we in BUSINESS CLASS??? I guess the travel agent upgraded us without us knowing about it (Though we probably PAID for it)
We board the planes, and YEP. Business class. SWEET. But we are in the first row, so everything has to go above our heads....now I am one of those people who prefers that their stuff be under the seat in front of them, and easily accessible. Not this trip. Both from White Plains to Atlanta and Atlanta to Orlando, everything has to be over our heads. Ok, I can deal, especially considering the Milano cookies I got instead of pretzels...
We watched the sun come up out the window as we took off from White plains, and we were off.
Our flights and connections were uneventful, and soon we were touching down in Orlando....
We walked ourselves to the ME line, and got in the HUGE line. We waited an HOUR and fifteen minutes between checking in at ME and waiting to get onto the bus. FINALLY, we were off.
we took a Mears bus for some reason so no movie. :sad1: the kids played with their POS cameras (which soon got chucked out), and we were off to the WILDERNESS LODGE!!

The driver was practically falling asleep the whole drive....probems with drivers became a trend for us this trip.....

It felt like forever.
The camera was lousy. It kept turning itself off, resetting everything, and then deleting all the pictures it had stored on it. I don't even know if there are pics on it right now. I ended up just chucking it into my purse, so eventually I have to see if we got anything on any of them. It was a good idea that just didn't work.

Chapter 2: Mommy needs a Time out and Horrible Mommy Moment 2008.....
When we last left off, we were on a Mears bus with no movie, heading to the resorts. First stop: Wilderness Lodge! Bonus. We piled off of the bus and headed over to check in.
We were quickly greeted by a check-in-person (Or whatever that title is), and checked into our room...which was ready. SWEET. No need to take an elevator or stairs to our room, we were on the main lobby level!
A quick walk past the elevators, and 50 feet from the doors to the walkway to the busses, and we arrived at room 2116....our home base for the next week.
We walked in, dropped the bags, and I announced that I was going to take some pics before we destroyed the room....
From the Door:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0905.jpg
This was a common sight....note, we had been in our room for about TWO MINUTES.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0906.jpg
Buzz can’t complain about the lack of flat screens any more....
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0907.jpg
Bunk beds
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0908.jpg
The kids decided, since Daddy was asleep and all, to have a huge argument over who got the top bunk the first night. I got them to stop fighting by flipping a coin. Brianna won, so Spencer threw a fit. Then Brianna started screamng at him to stop crying. I was running ragged trying to get them to stop screaming while simultaneously trying to start unpacking the carry-ons when the hitting started.
I freaked, screamed at them to cut it out, woke HHBG up, and announced that I needed a time out. I grabbed my iPod and stormed out to the patio.
While I was outside stewing, HHBG gave the kids fruit snacks and went back to sleep. :headache:
I came back in to fussy, grumpy kids. I decided we needed to get some food, so we went off in search of Roaring Fork (the CS at WL)...We were ALL STILL VERY GRUMPY.
We got to Roaring Fork, and the kids decided what they wanted to eat: Uncrustable with puding and grapes for Spencer, Chicken nuggets with grapes and Jello for Brianna. I got a turkey and brie sandwich for HHBG and the grilled chicken salad for myself. We also got water and chocolate milk, and planed to get soda for the adults in our refillable mugs.
While I was waiting in line for food to be prepared (2 separate lines), the kids were running around the restaurant. My refrains of “stop running....calm down....stand still....come back here....don’t touch that....I said to stop running....don’t climb on that!....ETC” were heard by all. I was losing it fast...
Then it happened. The HORRIBLE MOMMY MOMENT OF APRIL 2008......
I had finally paid for our food, and had gotten the refillable mugs. As I turned to get the kids together so we could carry everything back to the room, Brianna climbed up on the fruit stand by the register and leaped off, smacking into a lady with her tray, into me, and into the counter where you put the trays, nearly knocking over all of our food from our tray, and nearly killing herself.
I was so angry in the rush of adrenaline after thinking she was going to kill herself (her head came THIS CLOSE to smacking the counter while she was in flight), I smacked her in the arm. It wasn’t hard, but I hit it just right to make that loud ringing SMACK noise that I swear echoed through the now silent restaurant. :guilty: She looked at me in shock for a minute, then started to cry.
I hustled everyone over to the table, and started to pack all of our food up to bring upstairs. I also pulled Brianna onto my lap and explained to her WHY she got smacked, and told her that what she had done was dangeros. I also apologised for scaring her, and told her that was all of the punishment, and she wasn’t in any more trouble, I was just explaning why she had gotten in trouble in the first place. She calmed down pretty quickly, and we all made our way back to the room to await the security I was sure had been called.....
We woke up HHBG, and I had HIM walk back to RF to fill our mugs (I was too embarrassed to show my face there for a while). He did that, and we all had lunch and our first ever exposure to Stacy...who the kids loved and I got sick of after 30 minutes.....
Coming Soon: We find the Pool and a Nap is had by all!!

I'm looking at my notes, and I think it'll be 2-3 installments for each day in Disney. I'm going to TRY for 1-2 a day, one in the morning, and one at night....we'll see how long that lasts....
I felt bad about hitting her so loudly in public. I DO spank, but usually as a last resort and in private....and usually on the tush or hand, not the arm.

I was afraid they were going to hurt themselves while he slept, since I had had to talk them down from jumping on the bunk beds a few times already, so I took them with me. kind of a catch 22.....:confused3
And thanks for the hug....Things got better for me....
Hey! You're leaving soon!! we'll miss you! Have FUN!!
Thank you for reminding me why I stopped with 1 child.
Kids...who needs them!
Oh, and you are not the worst mommy. I have seen much worse.
Just because there are worse, didn't make what I did seem OK to me. Yes, it was a spanking offense, but I try to NEVER hit in anger. I broke my own rule, and it upset me.
And The only reason we had two was that I got pregnant before I thought I had to worry about birth control after having Spencer....how's that for TMI? :scared:

I'm sure they were thinking:
"did that crazy looking lady in the punky tinkerbelle shirt just smack her kid!?! WTH? Are there any bruises on the kids?? Maybe I should tell someone? Nah, wouldn't want to get involved....she seems like the violent type, though.....just look at that shirt...and the tattoo....hmmm......well, at least her kids calmed down for a minute....I hope I don't piss her off, she might hit me next......."

Bunk beds
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0908.jpg
:scared1:oh boy oh boy girl... I don't blame you for getting stressed one bit or for your reaction ... I very likely would have done the same thing...

Chapter 3: POOL Time and Everyone gets a nap....or do they?
After Lunch, the kids reminded us that we had PROMISED that they could go in the pool. Well, I don’t make promises I can’t keep, so we got out the swimsuits (from the LIME GREEN carry-on), got suited up, and headed down to the pool.
First we tried to find somewhere to put our stuff.....wasn’t gonna happen. We took three laps of the pool looking for an empty chair. Towels EVERYWHERE on lounge chairs. Now, I don’t mind taking up ONE chair for a family with pool stuff. It’s nice to have your stuff off of the ground when you get out of the pool. It stays dry(er) and clean(er)....but there were obviously areas of “one person, one chair” set ups, and to me, that’s rude and selfish. If you’re not USING the chair for anything other than a stuff-holder, use one chair for your entire family. Finally one twenty-something girl decided to go back to her room, and we snagged a lounger. It was all we needed, so we were happy.
In fact, as we picked up our stuff, a lady asked us if we were leaving, and we said YEP. She commented on us only having one lounge chair, but “oh well, it’ll do”. *Sigh* I really wish I had taken pics of the lounge chairs, because, I swear, we were in the pool over an hour, and not a single towel had moved....Meanwhile, people were all doing laps with their stuff....:sad2:
Anyway, I digress....
While we had been doing our laps, we had grabbed towels. But we couldn’t find the life vests. When we stayed at AKL, they just had them in a big bin that you could rummage through and grab out of....apparently, WL had some probems with people taking life vests and keeping them for the week in their rooms, so there weren’t enough to go around, so they were signing them out at the bar. We decided this wasn’t worth the hassle....also we only had our room keys with us, and it was unclear as to whether or not they wanted a deposit.
Now, our kids can swim OK...well almost swim would probably be putting it better. They can keep their heads above the water USUALLY and are fine as long as they are in water that is only slightly above their heads. Brianna can float on her back, too. This is why we weren’t too worried about life vests. All the kids wanted to do was to go down the slide and play in the kiddie pool. However...the lack of life vests would come back to bite us later in the trip......:scared:
So, the kids ran off to the slide, and HHBG and I went into the water at the base of the slide. There was also a life guard standing right there at the base. Apparently, she didn’t agree with the policy to sit across the 3-foot-deep pool and wait for a kid or adult to have problems, she wanted to be right there. This made me feel better about the no life vests decision. Thank you, anonymous life guard. :lovestruc
The kids went down the slide about 3 million times....give or take. They were coming down together, which was cute but required both HHBG and I to be there to catch them. Finally, at one point, only Spencer came down....as I stood there waiting for Brianna, a lady poked me and said “Is that your daughter??” :scared:
Brianna was standing at the side of the pool, sobbing. Uh oh. :scared1:
I rushed over and asked her what was wrong. She showed me her knee. It was bleeding from a small scrape. Apparently, she had decided NOT to listen to one of my 3 billion admonitions to “WALK, DON’T RUN”, and had slipped going up to the slide. The life guard came over and gave her a band-aid, and we decided we were done with pool time for the day.
CUE TANTRUMS :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (these are not laughing smilies)
We led the tantruming children back to the room, the refrain of “I WASN’T FINISHED! I DON”T WANNA GO BACK! IT’S NOT FAIR! WAAAAAHHH” echoing behind us.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0909.jpg
We finally got back to the room and saw that ME had dropped off our bags while we were in the pool. HHBG immediately hopped into the shower to wash off the chlorine. After he got out, I sprayed off the kids, got out their dinner outfits, told HHBG to get them dressed, and hopped into the shower myself.
This is what greeted me when I came out of my shower:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0911.jpg
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0912.jpg
Since Brianna was on my spot, and the top bunk wasn’t very comfortable, I took “nap time”, and unpacked instead.
Soon it was time for some Dinner. :cool1:
Coming soon: Did we ever ask for that Ketchup??

aww cute! haha. That looks like us when we drove down to the south-ish of france in a day (took about 11 hours) when we got there we just crashed on the sofa!! :rotfl:
You DROVE to the south of France!?! From Where? (I forgot to read if you had your location in your profile). We took the EuroStar leaving at 7am to Paris from London while REALLY hungover last July....then walked all over Paris. It was a rough day....I believe I fell asleep still clothed once we got back to the hotel....
I'm loving your tr so far. Unfortunately, I came in on the tail end of your ptr, so I'm glad to be here early.
Your arrival day was a busy one! So sorry that Briana scraped her knee.
Can't wait to read more popcorn::
Oh and I noticed you're from Yonkers. I'm going to look at some apartments and houses in Yonkers tomorrow. I hope the agent is decent.
Enjoy your tour. Try to stick to the nice parts. There are some BAD parts here....just like everywhere around the NYMetro area, I guess. Greystone and Yonkers train stations are nice.
DH plays on Hell Scream when he pays and his own private server most of the time.
Sorry!!!! I have a WoW addict as well.... I know how it feels.
Bleh. I'm sorry. Unfortunately, i knew about the addiction when I married HHBG....it was EverQuest then. I used to bug the guy geeks who came in when I was working with being able to speak EverQuest, but I didn't play.
Ds used a pacifier until he was about 4 (iirc) but finally gave it up - I'd been starting to see his teeth affected, but fortunately, they seem to have gotten over it by now. Otoh, one of his baby teeth never came in (one canine), so that may screw things up eventually.
Lol...I can see mine doing that!
And that is SOOO my kids! Everyone always told me that they wouldn't remember stuff, and didn't want to believe me that they would! Especially when it comes to stuff that would benefit them...
Everyone said last year that the kdis were too young for WDW and would forget everything....they were QUOTING things to me this trip. :confused3
camelotcats- Great TR! Please tell me how you post those hot links.. I love that! I never quite figured that out yet and love when they are in tr!
First thing first, your kids are adorable & your TR is really giving me an idea of how my trips will end up w/ my children! FUN FUN FUN :scared1:
Your trip sounds like it got off to a wonderful start.. :lmao: I had a "cab" driver like that.. IT WAS MY SISTER... I wanted to kill her... All I kept on thinking was please get us to the airport safe and sound! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Pics are hysterical too... My DH would be the same way SLEEPING while Mommy does everything!! :rolleyes1
Cant wait to read more...
Hi and Welcome!!
For the Hotlinks, if you look on the top right of a post, you will see a number. If you click on it, it will open a window with that post in it. I copy and paste the URL and add it just like any other link.
I have to go back and add "next chapter" links to the bottom of my chapters eventually when I get the time....
I hope your sister was OK!!
The trip was good, but I think it would have ben better if we hadn't been so behind on sleep from the very beginning....also, our light day got cancelled, so we went hard all week, so we never caught up....
Yeah...all HHBG seemed to do was sleep.....
I'll probably write the next installment while I watch Beauty and the Geek tonight....

Thanks. I'm looking at a couple of places near the Scarsdale border and on Brandt Terrace. Hopefully, those areas are not scary.

First.....that's one of my only complaints about WL that there's only one pool. There's the VWL pool, but really there should be a quiet pool as well....
So as a result, crowded pool almost constantly.
I wish you could've started a shower of white pool towels screaming at the top of your lungs "Come and get your towels because we're taking ONE extra lounger....:rolleyes1
Kids are not easily removed from the pool.

Ouch. Sorry. :( Spencer sucks his thumb and has screwed his jaw up pretty well, so we are already anticipating the thousands of dollars in orthodontic work for him.
My 7.5 yr old DS never sucked his thumb or used a pacifier and we just had to spend $5K on orthodontics to correct his class 3 crossbite. So, don't beat yourself up over the thumb sucking (or pacifiers for the other mom), it can happen to anyone.

Chapter 4: An Auspicious start to our Dining Experiences....
First, let me preface my chapter by whining that I am EXHAUSTED! The lack of rest on the trip has really caught up to me today. I absolutely have to go grocery shopping today, too. (I put it off during the rain, but we are out of frozen meals) All I want to do is to crawl back into bed. Maybe I over did it yesterday trying to get things done.
ANYWAY!!
When we last left you, everyone BUT ME was asleep. I finished unpacking, pulled out the rest of Spencer’s clothes for the night (under that blanket, he was only wearing undies), stashed the suitcases, and set up my cargo pockets for the next day. By then, it was tim to head down to the Whispering Canyon Café for our dinner ADR.
I got the kids up, and woke up HHBG. Both kids rolled over and went back to sleep. :headache:
‘COME ON GUYS! GET UP!!”
Nothin’
Finally, I force-dressed Spencer, and HHBG carried the little boy and I carried the little girl down to the restaurant. It was Mobbed. I guess WCC is a popular first day restaurant. :confused3 I went to the podium to check in, and was informed that they were running about 30 minutes behind schedule. I said that was fine, got my BUZZER THINGIE which HHBG did NOT put into his front pocket, and went to find HHBG. He was with a now-awake Spencer who was playing with the lincoln logs by the front entrance.
I carried the sleeping girl to the nearest empty chair and sat down. HHBG and Spencer sat on a nearby couch. HHBG snapped these pics while we waited:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0913.jpg
Pardon the dumb expression on my face..I was exhausted and trying to stay awake.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0914.jpg
Awake, but barely.
Oh, and these are probably the best pictures that night of the outfits I made....
Finally, 45 minutes after our ADR, the buzzer thingie went off. We went over to get seated, and got Brianna awake. Our waitress came and introduced herself, and we ordered drinks. I got a coke (My usual when dining with my children), HHBG got a strawberry bottomless shake, Spencer got a bubblegum shake, and Brianna got apple juice, thn quickly changed her mind to wanting a bubblegum shake, too. (Blech)
Then we checked out the menu...
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0915.jpg
the kids “didn’t care”, so we got the skillet for the table, knowing that there was something on there for everyone.....kind of.
All around us, all sorts of hijinks were going on. (Does anyone still use that word?). People screaming for ketchup, huge glasses being delivered, waiters and waitresses whooping it up with their tables, etc. We, on the other hand were being ignored. I couldn’t even get a refill on my coke, and ended up swiping Brianna’s undrunk apple juice.
Someone (not our waitress) brought us our food. We asked him to send our waitress over so we could get drink refills, and we dug in. Brianna was all about the mashed potatoes, so we gave her a BUNCH of those, knowing we could always get more....if the waitress ever remembered that we existed. HHBG was done with his shake, but again, no waitress to be found. She was literally walking by us and not looking at us. Is this part of the skit?? If it is, it sucks.
Spencer really liked the corn bread. He’s not a dinner eater, so I was just happy he was eating something. I had a bunch of beans, as they were really great, too. The salad (which came at the same time as everything else???) Was pretty good, too.
THE MEAT, on the other hand......was HORRIBLE.
The ribs were cooked into submission. They were dry, tough, and tasteless. The chicken was so dry and tough it was inedible. The pulled pork, which is usually my favorite item of BBQ was greasy, full of fat and gristle and almost no meat, and was nasty. You could practically bounce the shrimp off of the floor it was so rubbery.
But, the sides were good, so we ate those, and figured when the waitress came for our refills of food and drinks (if ever), we would just let her know our meat wasn’t so great and could we get a new plate.
Well.
Then they had the “horse races”
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0917.jpg
Then we waited for the waitress...
We finished the sides. Brianna was begging for more mashed potatoes or dessert.
All the drinks were gone.
No waitress.
Still no waitress.
Still no waitress....and the kids were starting to fall asleep at the table....
Finaly, after 20 minutes, I had had enough. I announced to the kids we were going back to the room, and HHBG said he would get our check.
I ended up having to carry the kids to the room, breaking my belt clip for my cell phone in the process. I gave the kids some peanut M&Ms for dessert, and sat down to wait for HHBG....
And Wait....
And wait....
After another 20 minutes HHBG came in. I don’t know if he finally got the waitress or if he had to get a manager to get him his check. It was ridiculous. He was furious.
Overall reviews of WCC Dinner: What kind of BBQ place has lousy meat? We had bad meat and bad service, though the sides were excellent. We felt ignored and overlooked, and were ticked that we didn’t even get decent service. It was a joke, and we talked about cancelling our ADRs for breakfast the day we left....did we?
I let him calm down and get the kids into the bath, while I went and refilled our refillable mugs. We needed carbonated goodness to deal with this....I got myself a Coke and HHBG a Root beer....Then we "vented" a while during the kids' bath.
We got the kids bathed, into pajamas, teeth brushed and into bed. We set the alarm, and got into be ourselves. HHBG and I tried sitting up with the light on while the kids went to sleep, but that didn’t work, so we turned off the light.....we had an early day the next day and needed the kids to get some rest.
Soon, HHBG’s snores filled the room....
I needed to stay up to put out the “toys from Mickey”!!
Come on, go to sleep kids!!
But soon, I too, was out cold asleep....
Would I make it up in time for their gifts?? Would the surprise be ruined?? Tune in next time dear friends......Same Bat time, same Bat channel (Sorry, I just couldn’t resist)
Coming Soon: Is it MGM or DHS? And you’re taking your little ones on WHAT!?!

Wow! And I thought our WCC experience was bad...
Were you seated in the front room or did you get delegated to the back like we did? We never saw any of the hijinx at all since we were seated all by ourselves. Our waitress threw straws at us and gave DD6 a really long straw, but that's about it. Luckily we did hear the announcement about the pony rides or else we would have missed that as well.
I agree about the food. The meat was pretty bad, although I think our ribs were decent. The salad was good, as were the potatoes. Luckily our server was better than yours, so we did get refills and dessert.
I hope your next day was better!

It was certainly loud. I know many people have had great experiences there, just like the great experience we had in a restaurant later in the trip where others have had the worst meals of their trips. :confused3 The service more than the food pointed to a larger problem to me....

Yes, at that point I was a bit worried, but things got better quickly the next day.
HHBG didn't snore except when he had a cold when I met him...well at least when I first would have noticed. :rolleyes1 though he ALWAYS fell asleep first, but I am used to that. Then we both put on some weight when I was pregnant with Spencer, and he started to snore nightly. This past year, we both have lost about 20 lbs, and he doesn't snore as often anymore, but ALWAYS when we are on vacation. When he STOPPED snoring, I had problems sleeping...I kept checking to be sure he was still breathing! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: He's my own personal white-noise machine. :thumbsup2 As long as he doesn't have a sinus thing going on, then he has that scary snoring I can't sleep through.
I HATE Costco. If the prices weren't so much better there, I would never go. :headache: I skipped the regular grocery store, I'll go tomorrow. I got breakfast cereal, juice boxes, school snacks, COKE, and frozen fish. I have frozen veggies and rice already....thawed dinner tonight. lol.

My WCC Review - 0 stars, $0.20 tip
Calling this dinner 'bad' would be an overstatement...
I'll start this off by saying that I really wish that I had ordered food at the counter service place - WCC was HORRIBLE. It goes down into the worst dining experiences ever nudging up to that hole in the wall diner in NYC with roaches crawling on the walls.
The meat was truly bad. Kind of like really tough jerky without any taste. I swear that my shoes would taste better. Inedible. The microwave ribs I get at the supermarket are *so* much better. And I won't even make a comparison to a real BBQ place - this stuff wasn't even remotely similar to what they would serve at any self respecting place.
The sides were OK. I don't really have a good reference point for them, but when you are hungry and the alternative is the meat, the vegatables start looking real good.
After the kids left, I put my feet up on another chair and made myself comfortable. Downloaded and started playing (loud) video games on my phone. Almost walked out of the restraunt...
I would have given no tip, but I worried that the waitress would think I was one of those penny pinching people with an aversion to tipping. While we never picked up the DDE card until the next morning (it adds in an 18% gratuity automatically), I would have had to keep it in my pocket to add the token $0.20 tip.
Luckily, things did get better...

:lmao: love how football (sorry soccer!) has infiltrated the USA, I'm trying so hard to get away from it here, it's all that's on TV, especially seeing as it's an all English final! What's with the choice of teams?!! Why Liverpool?
My father, when I was growing up was a huge Arsenal fan. I, being a troublemaker, decided to root for Liverpool, since, in the mid-eighties, it was always Liverpool and Arsenal fighting it out for the cup. this is Pre-Beckham! (I knew who he was before he married Posh Spice, too). My mom is a Man-U Fan....for Rinaldo. :sad2:
That's how I became a Red Wings fan, too. my brother, for some reason, was a huge Blackhawks fan (I grew up on Long Island, and my father is an Islanders fan). Since the Red Wings were the blackhawks biggest rivals, I became a red Wings fan. :confused3
The guy with my FAVORITE NAME growing up was Burrachaga from Argentina's world cup team. (I probably spelled his name completely wrong). We used to watch world cup soccer on the spanish channel here, Univision...it was the only channel that got it. lol.
Funny story!
I blogged about soccer through the whole world cup. I used to play, ref, and coach soccer. I played soccer in college. I watch TAPE for soccer, lol. I know soccer.
ANYWAY, some British guy took offense that some ignorant GIRL from the US would have the nerve to say anything about Football (soccer), as sport she obviously knew nothing about, and started flaming my blog....he was also a huge Arsenal fan.....:rolleyes1 I schooled him badly. Nothing like a chick spewing technical soccer jargon at you, and proving she knows what she's talking about...:rolleyes1
I never had as many hits to my blog as I did for the two weeks following that blog.....I ended up taking it down, it caused such a stir. I felt bad, because he had posted using his real name and email, and apparently he was really being ragged in the UK by his mates.
Arsenal fan....:rotfl2:
BIL is a Chelsea fan. He lives near their stadium. He wo't talk to me right now. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Good thing the game is now....otherwise work would have shut down for the day there.....can't wait to see what happens forthe final...too bad it's in Moscow.

Dude.....the sides were edible, and the beans and salad were downright good....I was worried about severe gastro-intestinal consequences after that diner we took your folks to. :scared: Think Anthony Bourdain in Namibia....
The waitress sucked, though. I would have walked to the podium and purposely LOUDLY asked for someone to pay since we hadn't seen the waitress in forever. I did loudly tell the kids we were going elsewhere for dessert since the waitress had disappeared...
Dude, thy name is Passive-aggression....

Your WCC experience was soooo similar to ours!!! though I think yours was worse (probably compounded by the exhaustion!!). I have to ask - do you remember your server's name? Ours was Candi Cane - and she was basically useless!! Never around, sooooo slow!! When we were waiting for dessert, she was coloring! Just wondering if we had the same person...

Chapter 5: Day 2 - Sleep talking and the CARGOES OF HOLDING +1
Sunday started off with us discovering that Spencer talks in his sleep. We had an idea of that when he had yelled “WHERE IS EVERYONE” at 2am the day before, but on this day, it was a somewhat more subtle. And at 5:30 AM
“Mommy...mommy.....mommyyy” enough to wake me up.
“Yes, Bud?”
Nothin’... back to deep sleep for the little boy.
I was grateful though. He woke me up enough to do the Mickey toys. I got the first day’s worth of toys set out for everyone (mommy and daddy included), and fell back into bed.
At 7, HHBG’s alarm went off, and he got up. The kids got up, too , and quickly got dressed. I stayed in bed. HHBg went down to Roaring Fork for drinks and some adult breakfast, so I got up and got the kids their pop tarts.
I went to get ready for my shower, and couldn’t find my make-up bag. Dangit! I had unpacked everything, where was it???
I was still searching when HHBG came back with breakfast. I finally found the bag in the corner behind the table and under the curtain (HOW did it get THERE!?!), and sat down to eat.
Breakfast:
Kids: pop tarts and fruit salad from RF. The split the left-over chocolate milk from yesterday’s lunch.
HHBG: Bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and Root Beer.
Me: Banana and a coke.
After eating, I took a quick shower, dried my hair, did my makeup, and we were off.
As we were walking to the bus, the kids ran ahead, and Brianna fell AGAIN. On the SAME KNEE. She tore her band-aid in half and ripped open her knee. Fortunately, I had band-aids in my CARGOES OF HOLDING +1, so I pulled them out and gave her a new one.
We sat down to wait for our bus....

I am vehemently anti-bag in the parks. I have everyhting I need in my cargoes, thus the title CARGOES OF HOLDING +1.
No NY bag. That's for NY...and it had extra stuff in it for the meet.
HHBG had cargoes, too. I had him carry a few things in his, since the pockets were bigger.

I don't like shorts a whole lot (thogh I just bought some to try again), so it is almost always pants for me. Those were good, though a little too long.

LOL. HHBg had his packable rainjacket. We just decided to chance getting wet.
Mickey left:
Brianna: Fairy figurines (1 a day)
Spencer: Animal figurines
Mommy: Stitch movie figurines
Daddy: babyish classic Disney movie figurines.
Just little stuff that could be shoved in a pocket. :)
Great job packing.
Thanks! Do you mean my suitcases or the CARGOES OF HOLDING +1??

CARGOES OF HOLDING+1, and packing bandaids.
If you knew my kids, you would not have been surprised. I actually had (in one pocket) a whole mini med kit in there. 5 different kinds of bandaids, alcohol and cleaning wipes, neosporin, med tape and gauze pads, pepto, ibuprofen, tylenol, advil cold and sinus, immodium, kids triaminic, kids benadryl, kids ibuprofin, kids tylenol, burn cream, bite cream, calamine lotion, cough drops, aloe, sunblock, bug wipes, female items, and lip balm.
Gotta love minimus.
That's why the cargoes got named the "CARGOES OF HOLDING +1"

Well, HHBG is on his Warcrack, so I am posting another chapter.
Chapter 6: The Philly Guy and a Yellow Power Ranger
So, we hopped on the bus to DHS. It wasn’t very crowded...I guess everyone had caught the bus before it. :confused3
We arrived at DHS at 8:50, right in time for the rope drop...but we detoured instead to Guest Services, so I could upgrade to an annual pass.....uh, and I forgot to put my ADR list in the CARGOES OF HOLDING +1, and forgot what time our lunch ADRs were. :rolleyes1
The guy at Guest services was very nice, if not SLOW. It took him fifteen minutes to upgrade my ticket to an AP, and for me to get a DDE card. He told me when the ADRs were, I thanked him profusely, we got the crazy children, and hoofed it over to the Tower of Terror.
Now some background:
Last year, when the kids were 3 and 4, Brianna, the THREE YEAR OLD got a tick into her head to ride the Tower of Terror. She had just ridden Star Tours, so we assumed she was tall enough. We waited in the line, went through the library scene, got all the way tot he front of the back line, and got stopped for a second measuring.....and she missed by about 1 millimeter. :headache:  Seriously, I couldn’t get my FINGERNAIL between her head and the measuring stick.
She was wearing very flat shoes. I tried to talk them into letting me in (I’m sure I was all over stupid guest tricks), but to no avail. She and I exited while HHBG and Spencer rode the ride. :headache: Brianna was in HYSTERICS. She so wanted to go on the ride. There was no calming her. It was bad. :sad2:
The whole rest of that trip,, we had to deal with Disney’s UNCALIBRATED measuring sticks. She was fine for BMTRR, Star Tours, Stitch, and Splash. Too short for Soarin’, Test Track, ToT, and Dinosaur. It was a pain. (Actually, she missed for Splash, but they let her on. SHHH)
When we got home, I emailed Disney, requesting that they have a measuring station at the front of the park with multi-colored wrist bands, so a kid could just get measured and show a wrist band that showed they were OK for that ride. Of course, they ignored me. :headache: Whatever. Just cause I’m SMART....:snooty:
ANYWAY! I digress....
So, this trip, the first thing we had to do was The Haunted Hotel (AKA Tower of Terror). Standby said 20 minutes, so we went for it. We ended up in line right in front of a guy from Philly. His family refused to go on the ride, so he was going alone. We talked with him while we were in line. I don’t really remember much about what we talked about, but he was nice. It made the line time seem non-existent....course it WAS only about 10 minutes.
Well, after the little library scene, both the kids seemed nervous, but they braved it out and rode. (You can’t see them in the pic...too short....I didn’t even redneck it).
Well, afterwards, Brianna wanted to go right back on. She LOVED IT! Spencer wasn’t so excited, and did not want to go back on. We got fast passes in case he changed his mind, and started wakling towards Star Tours.
We got some photopass pics (Which we should really check out and order),t hen headed over to Star Tours. Just as we got to Star Tours, Jedi academy was about to start. BUT the kids REFUSED to watch it. :headache: Whatever. We got on the ride quicker since everyone else was watching the little show.
Here are some pics from the line:

Kids liked Star Tours, and we were headed off to the MUPPETS!!
Now, I love me some Muppets. I grew up on them. I remember, the nights we could “stay up” were the nights the Muppet Show was on. We had to go to bed after it was over. One of my kids’ favorite “lullabies” is “manamana”....Just the thought of Beaker singing “feelings” cracks me up. I want the DVD sets of the old shows.
Unfortunately, my kids just don’t get it. :confused3 But we watched it for me.
Then, we went to wherever it is that the power rangers are. The kids had an argument over which power ranger to get a pic with, but the Yellow one was right there with very little line (and yellow is Brianna’s favorite volor this month), so we got a pic with the yellow Power ranger...then the power rangers had to go. :sad1:
One of My pics. The pic guy got mad I took pics, and didn’t take HHBG’s photopass card. :headache: Grr...
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0949.jpg
Ok another one...this is her posing the kids...so cute:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0948.jpg
After the pics with the Yellow power Ranger, I admit we wandered aimlessly for a little while. We ended up on the Great Movie Ride, which was OK...probably will not be repeated.
Then we saw Voyage of the Little Mermaid. We were WAY off to the side, and barely got in. We enjoyed the show again, though it’s no Nemo. Ariel IS Brianna’s favorite, though.
After VoTLM, it was time for LUNCH!!

Yeah...they could avoid over-long lines by setting up the CMs at the "measuring" rides with bracelets for that height that they could give tot he kids who are "close" and make it.
ToT became her favorite ride. More on that later.

Chapter 7: Babysitter? Babysitter!?! We don’t need no STEENKIN’ Babysitter!!
Where were we? Oh yeah...We had just left the Voyage of the Little Mermaid.....
It was close to time for our ADRs at the 50's Prime Time Café, so we headed over there to check in. They sent us into the living room to wait for a little while, and we went to watch shots from old TVLand shows (I’m too young for them to be from anything but TV land or Nick at Night...sue me).
While the kids were ensconced in front of the TV and HHBG and I were standing around waiting for a seat to open up, I started to look around....and began to see some things that both cracked me up and made me very uncomfortable....because, apparently, Disney bought my Grandmother’s living room.....and my parent’s old books and put them into their “living room”. I needed some pics to show my folks....
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0957.jpg
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0956.jpg
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0958.jpg
See the white encyclopedias? Yeah. There’s a set in my house right now from my folks....and the Zebras...and the dancing people....I think Disney bought them from my grandmother’s estate.....
We got seated relatively quickly and introduced to our babysitter whose name I forget. He was great. He took our drink orders first. HHBG and I both got Coke, Brianna ordered an apple juice, and then Spencer ordered a chocolate milk. Brianna then started crying that she wanted chocolate milk, too. The babysitter heard her and changed the order.
When he came back with the drinks, HHGB and I got our sodas. He then announced “I have apple juice here! Raise your hands for apple juice!”. The kids looked upset, but could see when he put the drinks down that they actually had chocolate milk. The babysitter took our orders and went off....
What we ordered:
Me: Pot Roast (according to Donald T Duck’s TR, the ONLY thing to order here)
HHBG: fried Chicken
Both kids: hot dog, chicken noodle soup, fruit salad.
We had a TV at our table, so we watched some TV and waited for our food.
Som e guy offered tot ake our pic. I think the camera was on the wrong setting.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0959.jpg
When the food came, Brianna looked straight at our babysitter and said to him “HEY! My apple juice tastes like chocolate milk!!”. LOL. So cute.
The rest of lunch was pretty uneventful. W ate our food (mine was the best!!), paid, and headed out. On our way out, I tried to give away our fast passes, but no one was interested, so we just took them with us. Oh well.
After leaving lunch, we decided to head out of the park. We had promised the kids we wold ge thtem hats, so we had to go on the mad hat quest. I am not going into the long boringness that ensued while my son had to looka t every single hat there, decided on the hat he already had at home, and finally decided ona aht he hasn’t even looked at since. Bleh. He should have let me pick him out a hat. I would have at least picked one out that he could wear on rainy days to school under his hood.
Here’s HHBG trying on a hat:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0961-1.jpg
Brianna, of COURSE, picked the bride minnie ears. While she was picking out her ears, I decided I HAD to get a tee shirt I saw in the window. I wore it later that afternoon....
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0962.jpg
We then got ice creams, got enormously messy, cleaned off, and headed over to the busses to go back to the hotel and get cleaned up for dinner in Epcot.....

I am loving this TR! I especially love the "Cargoes of Holding +1". I told my dh about it and he also thought it was awesome (it's not every day you hear a reference to something you'd hear in a role playing game).

Chapter 8: Mine...Mine....Mine....Mine...
All righty then. We got back to Wilderness lodge, and got Brianna changed in the dinner outfit. Made by a fellow DISBoutiquer, by the way.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0968.jpg
Spencer put on some jeans, since he had been having problems keeeping his shorts tied and on his waist. I also decided to toss on my new shirt, being the redneck that I am.....wait a minute, I live in NYC....uh...being the total geek that I am?? (I did toss a D&D Reference into my TR, after all). Whatever. :3dglasses
ANYWAY, we all went down to wait for the bus to Epcot.. The kids had to drink from the water fountain, and this being Disney, I had to take pics of them....
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0971.jpg
The bus came and we were off to visit the parkw with the giant 100 sided die in front of it....Uh, I mean Epcot.
We were about 2 hours early for our ADRs, so we decided to go on a few rides. Last year, HHBG was really upset that Spaceship Earth was closed, so we went to that first thing. 5 minute wait. It was fun. I like Judi Dench, which helps. The kids LOVED the interactive part at the end, and they had a decent picture of me, so I wasn’t too unhappy about it.
After Spaceship earth, we decided to walk over and see what the wait looked like for Soarin’. EIGHTY MINUTES! :scared1: Uh, thanks, not today. We decided to go on “the recycling ride” which, for some reason, is what my kids call Living with the Land. Normally I really enjoy this ride, but we had some mental family behind us who were convinced that the plants and animals were fake, and they talked and yakked it up through the whole thing. Bleh. I really wanted to do the behind the seeds tour, but I knew I wouldn’t have time this trip. In October, I will definitely go.
After we got out of Living with the Land, the kids INSISTED on going on “the Nemo ride” and then talking to Crush. While we were in line, I had a bit of a peeps sighting. Check the covert photo....
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0973.jpg
While we waited on line for Nemo (all 2 minutes after walking through the longest queue area ever), Spencer announced that it was is turn to ride with Mommy...which it was. Brianna took major exception tot his statement and freaked. I don’t know if you read my PTR but in it, I mentioned that last year she wsa very vehemently Daddy’s little girl, and would only go with HHBG places and on rides.....well this trip it was all abotu Mommy for her, and I was HERS.
Well, Spencer got to ride “Into the seas with Nemo and Friends” with Mommy. After all, it was his turn. Brianna cried and wailed through the entire ride....which actually made it a lot more entertaining.... :rolleyes1
When we got off of the ride, Spencer announced that he wanted to go talk to Crush. Now, HHBG and I were nervous about this. Last year, Spencer actually got to ask Crush a question, and we knew the chances weren’t very good of that happening again. Spencer is very prone to tantrums when things don’t g his way, so we warned him OVER AND OVER while waiting for turtle talk that there was a good chance that he wasn’t goign to get to talk to Crush.
Ok, I should say HHBG warned him over and over. I had Brianna over by the manatees looking at the wall while she continued to throw her fit. After she wsa done, I asked her if she was ready to behave. She said yes, and I let her come away from the wall. She then announced that she wanted to see Crush too, so we hotfooted it over just in time.
Well, Crush comes in, and does his little spiel. Then he says he’s willing to answer some questions. First a little girl goes, then he syas he’ll take a question from the “little dude withthe red shell over there”. OMG! He just said he’d talk to Spencer!! What are the ODDS!?!? HHBG and I looked at one another in disbelief. :faint:
Here is their conversation, as word for word as I could remember 2 hours later when I wrote down my notes:
Spencer: “what do you eat?”
Crush: “See this green stuff growing on the sea floor, it’s <something>, that’s what I eat, the green stuff that grows under the water......why, what do you eat?”
S: <silence>.....”Healthy stuff!!”
C: That’s great little dude! What kind of healthy stuff do you eat?”
S: <more extended silence> ....”Apples?”
C: “Apples are great, but....do they ever give you the...bubbles?”
S: sits in confused silence while the adults snicker around him
C: Do you know what I’m talking about? Where the bubbles come from?”
(Cue “bubbles”)
Audience breaks up in laughter.
C: “Well! That was awkward!”
Moving on....
After the show, we tried to explain to Spencer what Crush was talking about with “the bubbles”. Not only did he notunderstand what Crush had been asking about, he also absolutely REFUSED to believe that “the bubbles” were what we said they were. :rotfl2:
After we left, the Seas, we decided to get some silly pics.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0975.jpg
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0972.jpg
At that point, we decided it was time to make the trek to Norway for dinner. Don’t ask me why, but some weird stupid gremlin spoke through my mouth and said “let’s start in Canada, it’ll be quicker.” me = idiot :wave2:
HHBG knows all about my DIS obsession, so he listened to me, and through Canada we went. DOH! :headache:
We got to about Japan, and I said to HHBG “Dude, I don’t know WHAT I was thinking...this is totally the long way.” :headache:
HHBG shrugged, and suddenly one of the kids (I forget which...Bad mommy!)said to me:
“Mommy, why does Crush talk like you?” (Not, by the way, “why do you talk like Crush”)
And so, a TR title was born.....
Coming Soon: Dinner at Akershus.....how was it??

Great PTC experience.
Thanks! we had a great time!
How sweet of Brianna giving away the stickers, so generous :goodvibes
Love the hat photos :rotfl:
Hee hee. HHBG isn't too sure about my posting the pics of him. But I though it was cute.
Those hats are fantastic!!
Can't believe youSpencer hasn't looked his goofy hat since coming back! I'd wear that every day! :rotfl:
Brianna is adorable in her bride hat
Good choices!!
Thanks! Spencer just isn't a "stuff" kid. I'm sure if he saw it again, he'd wear it some. I would have gotten him the cool Mickey sorcerers apprentice ball cap if I had been thinking. He could wear that to school on rainy days.
I so have a picture of me when I was on a trip with my Mom to WDW in the same hat. Didn't buy it...should have...I think it is a riot! :goodvibes But I was 19 and I didn't really have the cash and Mom had already paid for everything else...this trip in June is my chance to pay her back! (for a lot of things!:lmao: :lmao: )
Cool that you are paying your mom back with a trip. :thumbsup2
I think I just read three updates!
Love the hats, and so, so sweet about the sticker sharing! I look forward to seeing your new shirt....gotta be something good....
I like it. We all started saying "mine....mine....mine...mine" randomly all vacation. It was funny....well to us.
I swear one day I'll actually buy some mouse ears!
Love the hat pics! :)
I haven;t been to 50's in a while, I def wanna go back!
Get the POT ROAST!! It was awesome!
I am so so on the mouse ears. Briann loves to dress up in them though, so I don't regret the purchase.
I love these two pix...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: and cute too.
the pot roast is the reason I keep going back to PTC. Yum......I'm glad you got a good server especially after the WCC debacle.
The kids rode ToT that's a milestone to remember...and Star Tours too....that's a nice plus......
Can't wait for the peeps pix...:) :worship:
The kids rode Star tours last year and thay (well, Spencer) rode ToT last year, so it didn't seem like that big a deal at the time. They are pretty brave when it comes to rides. Briann was very upset she was too small for everest adn RnRC. When she gets taller, she's going to be one of those coaster enthusiasts, I know it.
The first peeps pic is not complete. I didn't ALSO post the tongue one. I had a few chances to make up for that....:rolleyes1
Finally catching up...
Love CARGOES OF HOLDIN+1! I do that with my cargo shorts - but January was way too cold for those!
So cute of B to give away all those stickers!
She's also way braver than my dd...
I was recently looking at the Six Flags website, and realized dd is not near any of the requirements, so I won't need to deal with wristbands if we go this summer - but at least they have them as an option!
Oh, and sorry to hear you were sick, but sounds like you had fun Dismeetin...
They were pretty good cargoes. The pockets were a little small, btu overall I was happy with them.
The meet was good. I met some great people.
Love the TR so far....... I have never seen pictures of that restaurnt? it looks like fun. was the movie actually playing on the tv?
It was a continuous run of clips from old TV shows. Donna Reed, I love Lucy, etc.
Its neat to see ur HHBG in his enviornment with Star Tours.
Can't wait for the MUPPETS FTW!!!!!!!
Hopefully get to meet ur HHBG soon, we could be BFFs!

Well done on Crush talking to Spencer twice! Maybe he has one of those faces!!! I love Crush's 'well that was awkward', typical Crush!
I think he was saying his creating bubble was awkward as opposed to my son not getting the joke. Spencer must have one of those faces. he got talked to a lot by CMs and others. And he says the darndest things.

Spencer had a problem keeping his shorts up?
He payed cash, so the $.20 was what was left to make a dollar.
Uh....we did the "mine" thing too.....still do, actually. I have issues....:rolleyes1
The shorts spencer was wearing were some of the first ones I made for this trip,a dn I made them with a drawstring instead of elastic. Spencer plays with drawstrings, adn he kept managing to untie his DOUBLE KNOTTED shorts. The next thign we knew, his shorts were around his ankles. Thankfully he was wearing a larger shirt...and was wearing Disney Underoos. :rolleyes1
That's great that Spencer got to talk to Crush again:thumbsup2

Oh, I got it too - I played AD&D in high school, and again a bit after grad school. I have a group of friends who organize an annual gaming weekend, where you pretty much game non-stop. They have had an ongoing plot that is, well, rather creative - I think it is on year 13 or so now? Alas, I haven't been able to convince dh that it is a valid reason to leave the kids for a weekend (esp. since up until very recently, night-time would've been a complete disaster without me - I've only done one overnight, for a friend's concert.) So, I haven't actually played in several years now, but it is embedded far too deeply into my subconcious...
Oh, and I also liked the 100-sided die reference. :rotfl2:
And going back to the rest of the TR:
I like B's dress - esp. the back. Very cute.
We did the whole Mine! Mine! Mine! thing a lot, too - esp since we did Nemo our first night of the trip! The queue did fill up our second time when we were waiting for our Soarin' FP time - I think pretty much *everyone* with a Soarin' FP was in that line! But, hey, dd likes "riding in a clamshell" so we had to do it - I guess she's the only one who likes that ride? :confused3
(If I had seen that t-shirt, I might've actually bought it...though that shade of green looks atrocious on me, so it's probably just as well.)

Chapter 9: A Meal with a Reputation.....
As I’m SURE you could tell by Brianna’s outfit, we were headed to Dinner with the Princesses at Akershus. We got there a little early and went to check in. They told us it would be about 10-15 minutes and not to go on the Maelstrom while we waited (as if). Do people really do that? Check in for an ADR, then run off for a ride? That seems kind of rude to me....Oh well, I never took finishing classes, so what do I know?
We walked through the little shops across the way. There was a family taking pictures with the troll, so we waited until they were done before lettign the kids go over and climb on him....well, before I could snap off a SINGLE picture, some family who ALSO didn’t attend finishing school came in, and started climbing all over the troll. Then the dad went to go remove my son from a picture he was taking, and it was either end up thrown out of the park for causing another guest extreme pain, or to gently remove my children from their presence myself....so no pics. All I can say is, thank goodness HHBG was looking at the toys at the time.
So we wandered out of the stores and camped out on a spot of curb next tot he “princess stuff” kiosk. Great place, HHBG. All I heard for the next 10 minutes was “mommy, can I get something??” “But I don’t have Jasmine!” “Please Mommy!” “I SAID PLEASE!!” Finally, I had to walk her AWAY from the cart...not that that stopped the begging for stuff. I’ll tell you, Disney sure has that part DOWN. If I were a more easily persuaded mother, my daughter would have had something, “Just to shut her up”, but I don’t do that. I know many parents don’t, but then again, many DO.
After what seemed like an hour (but was really about 10 minutes), outr name got called. First, Baby! No waiting in line to get our pic with Belle....in fact, she even took a little extra time with the kids, and let Spencer be his hyper self, then gt him calmed down for a nice pic. See?
This is Spencer jumping around and being hyper:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0976.jpg
This is my version of the very nice picture...that yes, we did buy (suckers!):
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0977.jpg
We were seated off to the left of the entrance, pretty close to the koltboard and withing sight of the “princess door”. Our server Kim came, and told the kids who the princesses were that day:
Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, and “a surprise princess”
Brianna hoped it was Giselle. I told her not to get her hopes up.I guessed it was Cinderella. HHBG guessed Snow White.
Kim asked us if we would like something to drink, and we ordered sprites for the kids and a bottle of Imagine Cuvee Sparkling Wine for the adults. This is one of the specially for Disney wines made for the Year of a Million dreams. It was quite good. He went to go get our drinks, and we went to go get some food from the koltboard.
I forget what I got but it was all very good. (I didn’t get the shrimp, btu HHBG did...he said it was OK, but had a funky marinade). The kids stuck with cheese and meat.
YET AGAIN, there was someone at the buffet who decided that no one minded sharing her germs, as she picked up every thing that wasn’t wet with her BARE HANDS, smelled it, made a face, and put it back. Uh. Ew.
Spencer saw this, and grabbed a piece of salami with HIS bare hands. I swooped in before he could even put it back, and announced LOUDLY, that once you touch it, you take it. No exceptions. This did not stop yechy lady. Thank goodness we were AHEAD of her in the buffet line.
We went back with our food, and Kim came with the sodas and poured us our wine. It was very good. Then it was time to order our food:
Brianna: Ravioli (the authentic Norwegian kind....with marinara sauce)
Spencer: Authentic Norwegian Pizza
(Side note: Why didn’t they have any interesting offerings on the kids menu? My kids might not have eaten what was offered, but ONE offering would have been nice)
HHBG: Braiseed Pork
Me: Bacon Wrapped Cod.
Our food came, and we ate. It was AWESOME!!!! Now, I know a lot of people have had very bad experiences at Akershus, but our food was wonderful. My cod was cooked perfectly and so tasty. HHBG’s pork was also perfect and excelent. And...Uh...I didn’t taste the kids’ stuff.
Maybe they got a new cook? I don’t know. The food when we went to Akershus last year was also excellent. Maybe we have no taste, and think nasty food is excellent. All I know is, Akershus was one of our best meals of the week.
After eating dinner, the princesses started to show up. First was Ariel:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0978.jpg
Then Sleeping Beauty (Who got a real kick out of Brianna’s outfit, and gushed over it)
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0980.jpg
Then was Jasmine....my SON’S favorite. There si something going on with Spencer. Who can forget last year’s picture:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/DSCN0402.jpg
This year, his focus was a little lower. We had to get him to look away from her jewels....
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0982.jpg
Then, the surprise princess. I was right. Neener neener neener. I won first scoop of dessert!
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0984.jpg
Spencer’s still looking at Jasmine.....
Soon, it was time for dessert. Rice cream, princess cake and cappuccino cheese cake. The rice cream was a world of awesomeness, and HHBG was ticked I got first scoop. The princess cake was also good, but the only one who liked the cheesecake was Spencer.
Before we left, Spencer had to use the restroom. There is NEVER a time where we go to a restaurant that Spencer doesn’t have to use the restroom. There’s just somehting about restaurants that makes him have to go. Usually number 2. I oculd tell you stories that would melt your face off....poor HHBG, he also refuses to got to the ladies room.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0987.jpg
We considered an on-going picture essay about all of the bathroom Spencer had to poop in, but we started to forget to take pics. HHBG never takes pictures, so if I forgot to remind him, the pics didn’t get taken.
While the guys were in the bathroom, Kim came back to finish clearing our plates. Brianna handed him her plate, smiled her little “love me” smile and said “thank you”. Well that was it. Poor Kim was a goner. He came back and gave her a glow cube. She gave him a huge smile, a hug, and another thank you. AWWWW....
It was really cute until Spencer came back and saw that Brianna had gotten something and he hadn’t. Magic over. Cue tantrum. We high-tailed it out of there. I was so embarrassed at this display of his. Bleh.
While we were walking back tothe front of the park, we let Spencer choose how we would go home. He chose tot ake the monorail to the TTC, another monorail to the MK, then the boat back to WL. Yes, we gave him this option. E wanted to compare travel times, because I had heard this was quicker.
For the record....it’s not.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0988.jpg
The monorail rides were uneventful, but we JUST MISSED the boat. There was a family in line in front of us with a little girl, and my kids made quick friends with her. They had a great time. The little girl even sat with me and Brianna on the boat once it came. We were really hoping htey were staying in our hotel, but no such luck. They lived in the area, were on a day trip, and were headed back to the car they had left parked at WL. Oh well.
We went back to the room, and I grabbed the mugs to get some yummy root-beer goodness. After I got back, I walked in on the kids having a huge argument over what to wear the next day. I forget what we figured out, but we got something figured out,a dnthe kids lyign down. They promptly fell fast asleep.
HHBG and I sat up and talked a little while, I pulled out the Mickey gifts, and we went to sleep also. It was back to Epcot tomorrow, and we were goign to try to make rope-drop.
Coming soon: Do we make rope drop?? And will Brianna finally be tall enough to go Soarin’?

We did the Storybook breakfast and while it was nice the Princesses seemed awfully rushed. I mean super rushed. I am glad they seemed to take more time with you.

I missed out on the PTR so I'm signing on here before I get too far behind! I'm looking forward to getting caught up.
My $0.02 - the food at Akershus was very good.
You have to know what you are getting into with a character meal - there is no charming ambience at a character meal. It's a screaming horde of feral children on the verge of meltdown after a long day in the parks. This will not help anyone's enjoyment of a meal. Still, for a character dining place, the place was pretty tolerable.
I realize that the food choices are a bit 'strange'. I overhead a lot of 'They expect me to eat what? Fish? a Braised Pork Shank? what is that anyway? Where are the steaks and french fries?'. Please people - just go with it for a little while - The food was good. A braised Pork Shank is basically Pork BBQ - it's a large on-the-bone pork chop, cooked until the meat is extremely tender. You eat it with a fork. Very yummy.

If I were a more easily persuaded mother, my daughter would have had something, “Just to shut her up”, but I don’t do that. I know many parents don’t, but then again, many DO. I don't either, I'm mean :rotfl2:

Dude, a whole weekend?? We play every other Friday from about 7 to midnight. There are 4 of us, and another guy has kids, who he has brought a few times. We jsut set them up wit Disney movies in the next room.
Well, some of the group game locally on a weekly basis (or some other regular basis, I dunno), and those are more like your group. But, this is an annual event with about 10-20 people, and some people travel several hours to get there. There is a defined story for the weekend, and that is pretty much the only thing going on (other than some background food prep). I'm not sure if it is always this way, but when I've been there, there were basically 2 groups, each with their own DM, and at the end, they battle each other. When it started, the group ranged in age from about 20 to 30-something (I remember one guy turning 50 a few years back, but I forget how long ago), and none of us had kids.
Portions of this group now have kids, and we do get together for other events, too, some of which are more kid-friendly than others. Many of this group are also on a listserv email list, which one of the guys started as a way to keep in touch with his family and friends, and it kinda grew over the years. Since the group is spread out all over the country, and in fact, the world, there are also a few more local listservs to organize more local social events. I'm sort of on the fringe of the group - but I do try and get to some social events when I can.
Probably much more than you wanted to know, huh?

As I’m SURE you could tell by Brianna’s outfit, we were headed to Dinner with the Princesses at Akershus. We got there a little early and went to check in. They told us it would be about 10-15 minutes and not to go on the Maelstrom while we waited (as if). Do people really do that? Check in for an ADR, then run off for a ride? That seems kind of rude to me....Oh well, I never took finishing classes, so what do I know?
I can't believe people would actually do that:confused3

Our kids sit on the couch and watch movies or TV with the other guy's kids until his wife gets home, then she comes and picks up her kids, and my kids go to bed. If the kids stay until we're done, we set them all up with blankets and pillows ont eh couch (It's a huge sectional).

Wow. I wish I were still in contact with enough friends to do this. WAAAHHH!!! :sad2:
The sad thing is, I wish I had enough friends close enough to see on a regular basis - esp. another couple for dh and me to hang out with, that we both really got along with. My sister and I have discussed this - I live far enough out in the burbs to be a pain to go out and see, but not far enough for it to be a special occassion for me to be in town. Plus, these are my sister's husband's college friends - I get in through my sister. It's funny - I finally got my own identity in the eyes of the founding guy when I sang at one of the annual Hallowe'en parties - until then, I was always R's little sister, it seemed. ;)
My own college friends have mostly scattered - although I did run into the husband and daughter of one of my closest college friends at the library last weekend. It was weird - we hadn't realized that we are in the same library district, because we both live on opposite ends of it, and we have probably missed them by about an hour, every single friggin Saturday of the past year and a half since we moved!
Oh, and I *am* glad to hear good things about Akershus. Tho, who knows if we'll ever get there - dd really hasn't gotten into any more of the princesses lately. Right now, actually, our house is all about Pokemon...

Chapter 10: Another Shining Example of Parenting Gone Bad.....
Day 3. Monday. HHBG’s phone alarm goes off at 7am. I slept poorly again the night before, so I groan and roll over. HHBG knows I have not been sleeping well and tells me he will go get breakfast and get the kids up while I veg in bed a little longer. He’s so sexy.
After I remind him we bought the kids breakfast food and not to get them too much, HHBG runs down to Roaring fork with the refillable mugs. He comes back with Fruit salad for the kids, a cinnamon roll for himself and a banana for me.....and my much needed morning coke.....ahhhh.....manna from heaven.....coke.....(Insert Homer Simpson like drooling here). We set the kids up with their pop tarts and pull out yesterday’s unfinished chocolate milks and apple juices.
Soon, it is getting late. HHBG gets the kids dressed and ready while I take a shower and get ready. This is where our first problem of the day starts. HHBG decides to let the kids put on their own sunblock UNSUPERVISED. I have no idea what he was doing while they put on their sunblock, as I was in trhe shower, but I came out and Brianna came to show me that she had dome her own sunblock....and she was OUT. Yes, she had used the entire travel-sized tube of sunblock. Spencer came over, and he too, had used his entire tube. I had little grease babies. It was in their hair. It was EVERYWHERE. They looked like butter basted butterball turkeys ready for the oven. Brianna’s hair was SLICKED back, as she had brushed in the sunblock. Spencer had a spikey hair do. It was BAD.
I tried quickly to get them to strip down and take a quick shower to get off the sunblock, btu HHBG had told them that as soon as I was dressed, we were going, so they threw FITS over this suggestion. Not wanting to deal with the hissy fits that early in the morning, and exhausted myself, I decided to be stupid, and just wiped them down as best I could with a wet washcloth and then some Ponds make-up wipes.
Well, I finished getting ready, threw on the CARGOES OF HOLDING +1 and another Disney-themed shirt, and we were off. We rushed off to catch the bus. Spencer was so excited, though, that he rran into an upright. You know, those columns that hold up the roof on the walkway? Apparently, he couldn’t see it. :sad2:
We caught the bus to Epcot, and not 5 minutes after we get going, Brianna is crying that the sunblock is in her eyes. It’s on her hands, too, so when she rubs them she gets more in her eyes. I practically had to restrain her to keep her from rubbign in more sunblock. She refused to listen to me that she was makign it worse and not better. I was wiping her face and hands with wet wipes, but there was so much in her HAIR, it was getting into her eyes from her bangs.
Some bus pics:

http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/WDW%2008/DSCN0996.jpg
The instant we got to Epcot, we hightailed it to the bathrooms. I wanted to put her head under the water, but she said it was too cold. I tried to make her, but it was like a cat in a bath. I could NOT get her under the tap, and I was afraid all of her screaming was going to draw security and CPS. We finally compromised with some wet paper towels. I wiped and wiped and wiped at her head to get everything off. I made her wash her hands, too. When we came out of the bathroom, she was fine, though her eyes were still red.
Outside the bathrooms (which, by the way Jordan, were very clean and quiet...just sayin’)

By the time we got there, the line was already up to 30 minutes, but we didn’t care, we got in line. Brianna was TICKED we were draggign her along when she wanted to buy something, and let her displeasure be known. She really decided to use her eyes as an excuse to make everyone around her miserable.
HHBG left me to deal with her and try to get the sunblock out of her eyes (How much could be left?? I had cleaned her entire head 3 or 4 times at that point!!). I really felt bad for the people in line behind us. They really tried to cheer her up. She would smile and dance for them, then as soon as she wasn’t the center of their attention, she went back to the cryign and whining.
Well, it was finally our turn. We were in the back row, which was fine with us. Brianna had stopped grumping, so we hooked the kids in and stored their crocs. The ride was great. Being in the back, you really feel like your feet are goign to hit the things you are flying over. It was a great experience.
Walking out.

When we got off the ride, we decided to get fast passes for later. While I did that, HHBG tried to get a follow up on the picture from last year. This is the best we got.

Oh well, we were planning on coming back....right??
With fast passes in hand, we walked over to wait in the Test track stand by line. Listed wait: 30 minutes. Actual wait: an ETERNITY. Brianna wanted to be carried the whole time. My back was screaming from it. HHBG wouldn’t carry her. She was whining. HHBG threatened her a f ew times tot ake her ack to the hotel. Why do we change out parenting when we go away? In normal circumstances, she NEVER would have gotten so many chances to start behaving. I’m sure the people around us were not very happy with us having the little whining cryign child with us. I apoloise to anyoen who was in Epcot that day.
Brianna Finally let me put her down as we were about to get on the ride. A woman and her grand kid had been waiting in the single rider line, and they put HHBG with Spencer and the grandma in one row of the car and Brianna and I with the girl in the next row. Spencer started to whine againt hat it was his turn to ride with mommy, so I offered to the grandmother and girl that I would ride with both kids if they wanted to ride together. They were very grateful to be together, and we avoided yet another tantrum with my kids. Win-win there.
The kids loved test track, and we added the pics to our photopass (which I still have to order....oops).
After we got off of TT, I decided that I needed an ice cream. I was exhausted, not feeling well, and my back hurt from carrying Brianna. So, I got everyone some ice cream, and we went and sat on a bench.
Well, we were right by the dancing fountains. The kids saw them. Spencer wanted to go play in the fountains, and I decided it was hot and dry enough that he would dry off pretty quickly. I pulled off his tee shirt and let him go play. He had a great time. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make the kids the happiest. Some pics:

Fountain time!! Starting off a little hesitantly:

Woah!

OOH! This is fun!!

Brianna decided she wanted to get wet too....now her dress is made of denim adnhad a few layers to it, and. I was worried about her drying off, but HHBG pointed out that it would probably get the rest of the sunblock out of her eyes, and Spencer was in there already, so I reluctantly said OK.

Oh, the anticipation:

It’s Wet!! I’ll stay back.

After the fountains, we took the kids into the rest room to dry them off some with some paper towels. Brianna said her eyes didn’t hurt anymore, which was great. Also, I would give the bathroom by TT and the fountain a 2 flush rating. Very clean, but somewhat noisy and crowded from the wet kids.
Next, it was off to Spaceship Earth. The kids LOVED this ride. It was Spencer’s favorite. In the line,w e saw some more peeps. I tried to get a pic. This is the best I did Brianna kept refusing to turn around.:

OMG! I forgot about this one! HHBG doing the Peeps sign:

B was still doing lots of grumping and wanting to be carried. That was her big thing this trip: wanting to be carried. It got very tiresome very quickly. HHBG and I even considered renting one of those evil strollers, but we didn’t. We just told her to walk or we would leave so she could rest. We are MEAN.
The kids had another fight over whose turn it was to sit with me. They fought the entire wait for the ride. Fortunately, she was in her very adorable Queen of Hearts dress, so people were more interested in how cute she was as opposed to what a brat she was being. I got at least 5 or 6 compliments just in the Spaceship earth line.
Finally, it’s time to get on the ride. Brianna has been grumping all day, so HHBG says she has to go with him and hauls her onto the ride with him. I don’t know what he said to her, because she started off wailing, and was quickly quiet for the rest of the ride.
We created our future world, and the ride was over.
We checked the time, and decided we had time to go Soarin’ one more time before lunch, so it was back to the land we went. The posted stand by line at that point was 105 MINUTES!! DUDE! Thank goodness we had fast passes.
We got in the fast pass line, and were relatively quickly on the ride (I think the wait was about 10-15 minutes). This time,w e were in the front row. We flew over California again, and enjoyed ourselves again. This is a great ride. It was one of my kids’ favorites.
It was interesting to compare the front row with the back row on Soarin’. Inthe front row, it was easier to get intot he experience. There were no feet above you, and you are really close to the screen. In the back row, there are feet, but I felt like the experience was a little more exciting. You feel like you are RIGHT on top of the water and going to nick the mountains. It doesn’t feel that way in the front. I wouldn’t say I liked either better, but I would say, if you have the chance, try both. It’s a different experience and very interesting.
We got off Soarin’, got the pic, and it was time for lunch.

Oh, and I *am* glad to hear good things about Akershus. Tho, who knows if we'll ever get there - dd really hasn't gotten into any more of the princesses lately. Right now, actually, our house is all about Pokemon...
Be thankful. I am getting sick of princesses.
I'm all caught up and ready for more melt downs and cranky pants!
I wish Disney would buy her a new wig...Bret Michael's hair looks better then Aurora's.
You must be loving this update if you like the cranky pants. :sad2:
And I agree about the princess's hair. Aurora and Pocahontas are the worst. :sad2:
The picture of him tweaking Jasmine is one of the funiest things I've ever seen!!:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:
The lady at the buffet reminds me of my dear sweet grandma. She's the reason they started putting plastic around jars and bottles at the grocery store. She would open up the salad dressing and poke her finger in it to see if she liked it. If she didn't it went back on the shelf!:scared1:
We've had breakfast at Akershus twice and really enjoyed it.
I agree, it's a hysterical picture, that I intend to blackmail him with. pirate:
Thanks for THAT visual.
I love Akershus. :confused3 I would prefer it without the princesses, though. I want to go just for hte food.
At least the kids weren't resisiting sunscreen....

It's amazing how once you have children your idea of sexy changes so drastically!:rotfl2: I tell my dh all the time, if you want to turn me on.....do the dishes!:thumbsup2
I'm sorry, but I had a good laugh over your description of trying to get the sunscreen off of Brianne in the bathroom! I've washed a cat before and it's hilarious!
