We're heading down next week for just a weekend this time, before going over to St. Augustine. Trying to figure out what we're going to do and I see here Aquatica, but what the heck exactly is it? Is it a waterpark? Any pics? Thanks all.

To be more specific, how would you compare Aquatica to Typhoon Lagoon? We're looking for something tropical like. 2 adults, 40ish. I love beautiful landscaping, places to relax, tropical feel with light to medium sized attractions. We've never been to either waterpark. Were thinking of Typhoon Lagoon and I just discovered Aquatica here on this board which never heard of. Thanks all! Only a quick trip this time and wanted to try something different. Anyone been to both parks?

hmmm, it depends what you are looking for. who are you going with?. on your own children?

aquatica has a number of slides, 2 wave pools (1 for advance swimmers and 1 for people not so strong at swimming) a pool where kids can play, and also a lazy river.

when you look at tl, you don't have the kids pool, you only have 1 wave pool (mostly large waves) and lots of slides.

so my advice, if you're looking for something kids can do, head for aquatica. oh yeah...something else i didon't mention about TL, you can get some really good spots in the sun, and it's easier to find everyone, as it is split in to sections

From what you say you are looking for, Typhoon Lagoon sounds your best bet in my opinion any way.

No kids, just 2 big kids at heart, 40ish. Honestly we love Disney and usually just go at a slower pace, looking for the beauty of the park mainly, hitting a few rides, chilling, relaxing in the water, etc. I like the tropical look to TL, but is Aquatica also tropical? I heard they have parrots and a giant tortoise also? We would like that also. Just go at a slower pace then most with kids lol, looking for the beauty of the area, I really love the landscaping of the parks, looking for a little thrills and a lot of chillin, lol.

Aquatica is definitely a beautiful park with some great lush and lovely areas to relax. it might be fun to get another adult couple and rent a cabana for the day to get some privacy and enjoy the sun a bit more. here are some photos on Flickr of the park that my co-worker took when she visited:

Also, here is some good information about the grand opening - you can get a sense of the tone at the park and whether it is exactly what you are looking for -
