This has got to be one of the most pathetic things I've ever heard.
-------------------
http://blogs.usatoday.com/gameon/2008/04/families-in-leg.html?se=yahoorefer
Two families in Hawaii are on the brink of going to court to settle their sons' fight over a David Beckham jersey.
The Honolulu Advertiser says the legal wrangling began after Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy played a Feb. 22 game at Aloha Stadium. The two boys, aged 9 and 10, had clamored throughout for Beckham's attention and held up "Go Bekcham" and "Aloha Beckham" signs.
At game's end, Beckham rewarded them with his jersey. (AP/Honolulu Advertiser photo/Joaquin Siopack)
But now one family says it's theirs because their boy got it first. The other family says they get it, because only their son held his sign aloft the entire game.
We favor the Solomon-like solution suggested by Galaxy GM Alexi Lalas: Get out the scissors.

You have got to be kidding me.
That's absolutely ridiculous.
I remember watching a cops episode and they were arguing about a mattress.
A mattress.
Man, some people get obsessed over the stupidest things.

"You take this part with this part of his name."
"Heck no! I want that part of his name!"
"NO! I got it first so I should get the entire thing!"
"Heck no! It's my right to have it!"
"Are you crazy?"
"It's mine!"

I despise David Beckham. He's not the brightest spark in the box and i do wonder if he has more money than sense. I dare say he makes more money from advertising products than he does playing football but there's still no denying the fact David Beckham is one of the most talented players you'll come across. He'll be 33 this year by british standards thats a good age to still be playing it. Footballers have limited lives they don't tend to last long.
[i speak from a british perspective i have no idea how different soccer is from football but i don't think it's that different at all. Also i feel the need to defend the fact that we have some great players]

Wow. There are worse things in the world going on. There's no need to be worrying about a stupid jersey.
But David Berckham is really hot. Just had to put that out there.

I don't watch much soccer, but I heard he got like a bunch of awards and stuff for his playing? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think you guys realize how expensive a game worn jersey is. He is a very popular player and his jersey is probably one of the most expensive jerseys out there. So if the family needs money they would probably fight for it.

I always thought football (British football) and soccer were the exact same thing.
I've always wondered something.
How come they named American football football? British soccer was already called football so why give us cause to be even more confused?

That jersey is probably worth more than 10,000 dollars to the right person.
The kid he gave it to should get it.
and about DB. He's got an amazing free kick and a great cross, but thats about it. He is feared when he's the designated free kicker, as he well should be. But even he recognizes that that and his cross are all thats going for him right now. He's a good player, but he really doesn't still deserve all the hype he's been getting. He's the pretty boy of soccer, and thats the main reason he's still so popular.

that and all the advertising he does.
If you went back 10 years when he was in his prime i think you'd find out that he is exceptionally talented.

He is exceptionally talented. He has great touch. But like you just said, ten years ago he was in his prime. All he is today is an amazing free kick and a great cross.

American football has always seemed a weird sport. And why call it football? Doesn't seem to touch the feet that much.
BTW, that jersey would fetch a hell of a lot if they sold it on ebay.

My brother plays rugby here in America.
He says football's a lot less physically intense than rugby. Rugby's more like guy's lacrosse here- anything goes, within reason.
