Have you done Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls? I would say the Duddly's drop is more intense than Splash Mountain, which is more intense than JPRR.

I believe that Dudley has a steeper drop than Splash Mountain, and the Jurassic Park drop distracts you prior to the drop. The Splash Mountain drop is fun and certainly no worse than the others.

I would say encountering a T Rex at the start of the drop is scarier than the rabbit and fox at the top of Splash Mountain:cool2:

JPR has a 85 foot drop I would say it is way more intense

But what about the vultures?

They all feel about the same to me. Nothing intense at all.

I hated the drop on Jurrasic! The last time I rode it was after doing splash and every other roller coaster in orlando for a week - I learned that I turned 40 and I suddenly have vertigo and each drop (or bounce on twilight or even spiderman) was making me worse and worse. The dudly flume SCARED ME too.

splash is a breeze.... and I love the themeing and happiness and wonder inside - you shouldnt miss it... jurrassic? uhmmm... i can watch the movie if i want dinasaurs -- in otherwords, I rather be eaten by the T-Rex then do that drop again.

I agree that Dudley Do Right is the worst one, but oh so much fun!

To me Splash Mountain is more intense than Jurassic Park because the logs are smaller than the huge boat you sit in at JP and it seems like the drop is a whole lot faster. JP might be a longer drop but I think SM is more intense. You also don't have any restraints on SM like you do on JP and that adds a whole different feel to the drop in my opinion.

 That 85ft is pretty wicked. JP ROCKS.

JP: Over 80 ft drop, 50 degree angle, under-curve.
Ripsaw: 75ft drop, 50 degree angle(approx), over-curve.
Splash: 50 ft drop, 45 degree angle, diagonal.

I'd say the JPRA drop is more intense than the SM one but the thing that goes against it is the bigger, more stable craft. But have to agree Dudley is the most intense of them all (haven't ridden since the restraints came in though)

I love JP but I feel safer on it than I do on Splash Mountain. Yeah, it's a longer drop but it just doesn't feel as fast or intense as the drop on Splash, to me. The boats are bigger, more weight because there are a lot more people in each one and you are held in with a safety bar. It probably is more intense since they actually feel the need to hold you in but because of all that it doesn't feel as intense to me personally. That's all. :)

::yes:: I agree that riding a boat down the slope is less intense than a hollowed out log. I would like to add that less intense does not equal less fun. I love JPRA and never miss it.

I have a 7 yo DD, are the dinosaurs really scary on the JP ride? I took her on 'Dinosaur' at AK last year cuz she's always been a daredevil and she was scared to death!! I felt so bad!!:sad2: But I have to say as soon as we came out she was laughing and running around again, happy as can be (so no lasting effects). She loved SM BTW, and went on it twice, so the drop wasn't scary for her at all.:)

I think the scariest dino's are in the building your boat goes thru and the T-rex is the worse since you are going between his legs before the drop

I don't have children, so I'm a little tentative with my opinion here. I think the dinosaurs in the outdoors portion of the ride wouldn't scare her. The inside of the ride building is dark, though - not as dark as Dinosaur, but still dark. There are several dinosaurs in there that try to "get" you, especially the life-size (so I'm told) T-Rex. On the other hand, they do a really good job with the T-Rex, so she may react as "way cool"!

If she handled the SM drop, then probably this drop would be okay for her too - it's a bit longer, but smoother because of the boat's size and weight. Although with SM, you can tell just when the drop is coming. If you've never ridden JP before, you might not realize when you're about to drop until it's actually started - the drop is a bit hidden, and you tend to be paying attention to other things at that point, anyway. If you're not concerned about that surprise element, then I'd bet she'd handle the drop just fine.

Yea, it might be a bit much for her. There are 2 other water rides though, so maybe we will check them out. DH and I would love JP tho, so maybe we will do rideswap.;)

My nearly 7yr old was deathly scared on Dinosaur ride - but he enjoyed the Jurassic Park Ride - He understood that there would be dinosurs and that they were fake - He looked a bit terrified at the sight of the Trex - but was willing to ride JP more than once - so he must have had fun!

He loves Splash MTn, Dudley - etc - the fall part does not scare him (funny, I am just the opposite....)

My youngest son (now 14) was 7 the first time he rode JPRA. We had the misfortune of having the ride stop for an extended period of time just before the big drop which means that the hungry T-Rex was just above us. My son was TERRIFIED! The drop didn't bother him at all, but that T-Rex was definitely another story. :scared1:

The raptors that lunge toward the side of the boat aren't easy to take for a little one either.

I'd ride it first without your child if you can manage it to see what you think. You'd know best what would scare your child.

My DS has always been a very vocal and articulate kid. when we first took him to US/IoA he was about 7. we got on Jaws. As the guide does his theme thing my son converses with him, telling him how well he moves the boat. the guide smiles and compliments my boy's chatting skills. he was loving the ride until our friend "Bruce" pops out the water. My son lets out a yell and i hold him tight telling him its going to be OK. I am feeling lousy and tell him the guide will 'Take care" of old brucey. We get to the part where we get to the first explosion and my son screams out "Is anyone coming to save us? What kind of place is this with no police?!". i try my best not to fall from laughter and we get to the point where bruce dies and he tells the guide he took too long. the guide face turns red and just starts laughing as hard as he can.
Now later we go to JP Falls. I got a older kid plus a couple of teenage cousins with us so i try to get him on. no luck, till i get him a toy gun from MIB and tell him it works just like the MIB ride. we get on and he sees the good dinos and claps, then the baddies come and he flings his hat at them. yup the $20 Suess hat i just got him. I remind him of the MIB gun and the ride completely changes. every baddie that came he swore he shot with his MIB gun and kept asking me where is his score. when the T-rex came i told him its a million points. forget it he loved it and kept taking his "shots" at it. then the drop came. He screamed and smiled all they way down (he likes thrills but not scares).
that was almost 3 years ago and he still has the MIB gun.:thumbsup2 :yay:

Orlandonyc: What a GREAT idea, for any ride that MAY end up being scary!! Do the MIB guns have a laser light thingy? I'm still not sure about JP, but she says she wants to go on the Jaws ride....

no lazers but it made a sound at the time. i don't know if they still sell those but it look likes the little gun will smith had in the first movie. it was great and after the JP ride he wanted to get on everything.
