Does your name mean anything in a different language? Is it dervived from anything?

Mine is Meaghan, and is dervived from Margaret. Irish name. Meaning: the Greek word for "pearl" is all I've found.

So what does your name mean?

Jenny, my real name is Meaghan. My pen-name is Amanda. See, I wrote a story back in 8th grade about a girl named Amanda Sparks who goes to this magic school (not unlike Harry Potter). Actually, she runs away from home to get there, but that's hard to explain. Then, she meets friends, and has to save the school (and the world, later!) from an evil Sorcercess named Haley. LOOOOOOOOONG story short, Amanda is simply a pen-name. :)

GEORGE
Gender: Masculine

Usage: English, Romanian

Pronounced: JORJ (English) [key]

From the Greek name Γεωργιος (Georgios) which was derived from the Greek word γεωργος (georgos) meaning "farmer, earthworker", itself derived from the elements γη (ge) "earth" and εργον (ergon) "work". Saint George was a legendary dragon slayer who was supposedly martyred in Palestine. He is the patron saint of England, Portugal and Catalonia.
This name has been borne by six kings of England, two kings of Greece, and the first president of the United States, George Washington. Other famous bearers include authors George Eliot and George Orwell (both pen names; real names Mary Anne Evans and Eric Arthur Blair respectively), composer George Frideric Handel, and Pacific explorer George Vancouver.

eww. lol

Me and my friends were having a random facts discussion yesterday, and I remembered you saying that and I pulled out the old "cotch-leen" tidbit. They were quite impressed by the randomness :upsidedow So thanks for helping me out! XD

And my name...isn't real.
Mariclaire.
Not on any name website. My mom knew a girl named that in highschool, and even though she hated the girl, she loved the name, so she named me it.
And it works out, because both my grandma's are Mary, and my mom's Claire, so it's like they passed it down to me :]

But, since it's pronounced Mary Claire..
Mary-Hebrew- "Sea of bitterness" (lovely..?)
Claire-French- "Illustrious"

Middle name:
Patricia (paternal grandma's middle name)-English- "Noble"

And lastly, what everyone's ACTUALLY called me since I was born:
Mickey(maternal grandma's nickname as a kid)-American- "Who is like God"

And it's FINALLY classified as unisex on the site! I've checked before, and it always said it was for boys :P
And it was rated 3.5 stars :]
But here's the best part...
Info on this name: Diminutive form of Michael. "Mickey Mouse" animated Disney character and spokesmouse.
I was born to love Disney, basically XD
