I'm doing the 2009 Family Fun Run 5K

I am very excited about this! I have never done a race before. I have been wanting to do a Disney race for a few years. My goal was to sign up for one of the "bigger" races but I didn't realize how quickly they filled up. All they had left are the Marathon and Family Fun Run.

From the research I have done, it seems as if the Fun Run is a good casual, low impact race. That sounds good for me since I have never been a runner.

Has anybody here ever done the Fun Run? If so, do many people take it seriously or is it just mainly families having fun?

DH and I did the 5K this past Jan. Was only our second 5K and it was fantastic! In fact, it's where we became addicted and are now signed up for the 1/2 in 2009! Oh yeah, and the Minnie 15K next weekend.

The field ranges from those who are serious to families with little ones in strollers (even though they say strollers are not allowed). The corral is broken out by time so makes lining up in the right group easy.

You'll have a great time!

I did the fun run last year and it was fun! There are a few serious folks, but for the most part there are lots of kids and everyone is having a good time.

We did the 5K at a very casual pace as part of the Dopey. We were at something like 17:00 pace. There were a bunch of people behind us. Lots of people in costume and dressed up. You can see pics I took at http://www.disneyrunning.com/085kphotorm.html
