I had my ultrasound today and it is a......
BOY!!!!!
Just thought I would share the news with all of you. DH thought I would be disappointed that it wasn't a girl, but honestly I'm not. I just keep thinking of all the money I'll save on clothes, toys, etc. from already having a boy. That's more money for Mickey and scrapbooking supplies!!

Somehow I don't see Matthew sharing those..... :rotfl2:
Congratulations! I only have a little girl so i don't know what its like to have a little boy, but I hear that boys are typically Mommy's boys instead of what my daughter is-a Daddy's girl!

Congrats on the little guy! I have one of each and they both have their own unique way of melting my heart. Although the princess is definitely becoming more bossy/sassy/high maintenance lately.

Did you tell us the nursery theme yet?

Congrats! I have one of each, so I have no strong opinions for either but there is something special about a baby boy. Sigh...mine's almost 8.

Thanks everyone! I certainly agree that little boys are awesome - my DS is such a cuddle bug (and a Mommy's boy!!).
I think for the nursery I'm just going to re-use DS's blue Classic Pooh set. Why spend the money for a new set if this one is perfectly fine (although if it was a girl, you know I was going out and buying pink princess stuff!!).
Any suggestions for names? We are so stuck for a good boy's name!

Well, I am pretty partial to Wyatt. :teeth:
I wanted Solomon or Dimitri for Alex, but DH said no way. :rotfl2: There are five Alex's in kindergarden this year. So don't pick that one.

We named my little one Noah but our other choices were Mason, Spencer and Landon.

He probably won't look so good in the Pink dresses and clothes we talked about. However, Thomas is outgrowing his clothes quickly I will definitely have some boy goodies if you are interested.
So what names are you thinking of? I just love the names Connor and James.

Thanks Denise for the offer of clothes - I may take you up on that just to have some variety! "Thomas" was actually a name that DH and my mom both suggested, but then we figured it would throw Matthew for a loop to think that Thomas is a train and Thomas is a baby. He refuses to accept that people can have the same name as trains (I told you he was strange!).
We honestly don't have any names in mind. When we had DS, "Matthew" was the only name that we could really agree on. We have lots of girl suggestions, though! We want something cute, not too trendy, and not wildly popular. All of the names we like have recently been "taken" by friends or relatives, including some of the suggestions.

Congratulations!!!!! How fun to plan for a new little boy!
As for names, my favorite is Andrew. That's my DS's name and the first and only one DH and I ever thought of. Even though, after we picked it, Hurricane Andrew came through and hit Miami/Homestead really hard and everyone thought we named him for the hurricane when he was born 2 months later!

I think its funny that he thinks people can't have the same names as trains. We have alot of little kids in the neighborhood and the other night we were outside and they all know my name is Jenny well my neighbor is also Jenny but the kids call her by her sons name and then mom. We had them all confused when we tried to get them to call her Jenny too. Some of them have the same names so why they think we couldn't have them is beyond us but they just didn't think it was possible.

i am partial to John. (who is just adorable, by the way!!!) it's an old strong name. when we had him the old ladies in the nursery that give them baths and get them ready for the moms and dads asked us who we named him after and i said, no one. And the could not believe that he was not named after anyone. I just knew from the start that he would be John. Of course he would have looked very funny as a girl named John!!! I call him different Johns all the time, Johnny Cash, John Boy, Johnny Appleseed....but all in all he really is MY John! it fits him perfect. -can you tell that i just love him!!

SIOH had it claimed but than her SIL went and used a J name and threw our name right out the window...

So many good suggestions!! It's hard because I used to be a teacher, so a lot of names that I like I have some negative associations with (you know, when you say the same name over and over during the course of a school year, it really starts to loose something! ;) )

Congratulations! I have a girl, but lots of my friends have boys, so get plently of boy time.
My suggestion for a name is Garrett! my friend's little guy is the best and cuddliest little guy I've ever known, he also loves trains!

Thanks for all of the congrats! I'm really excited. Even though I said I wouldn't buy much, I couldn't resist a big sale at Gymboree today!! :rotfl2: Why is it that baby clothes are so much more fun to shop for than adult clothes?

I am late to the party...congrats Michelle! Names....my oldest son is Thomas (5 yrs old) -- never Tom or Tommy. My youngest son is Wade (2yrs old). He is a big fan of trains. He has accepted the whole Thomas my brother, Thomas my favorite train thing quite well.
Here is a suggestion about names -- go to your hospital for a visit. Find some nurses from the nursery and ask them what the latest popular names are. You can't go by the national statisics -- they are too far behind and not where you live!
When I named my daughter Emma, I had never in my life met a person with that name. (This was about a year or so before Rachel on Friends named her daughter Emma) I am sure you are thinking this sounds odd -- now you can't go anywhere without running into a little Emma or Emily. I do still love her name, but I wish it was a little less popular.

I second that. I'm a teacher also, and I was working on my graduate school project. I asked the Data clerks at 5 schools about names. In the 5 schools- almost 5,000 student only one Ansley. We used it and now it is so popular- DD even has a subdivision of houses named after her now! I love the name, but hate that it got popular so fast.

I know just what you mean about the baby clothes thing. I hate to go clothing shopping for me. Ick. Really can't imagine a worse way to spend time. But shopping for Owen on the other hand is a blast! Even socks are cute when they're tiny. Gymboree is a dangerous store, so many great things that are different from what most places sell. They last forever, the colors are great, and for me, they fit OWen better than any other brand.
Names, we thought about Ian, Aiden, and Caiden.
