Okay, what do you do.....
1) Book a room early to get where you want- and can afford- hoping that a discount will later come available. Then, when a discount becomes available, call and ask if they will apply it to your reservation? (Will they apply it to a pre-planned reservation?)
or
2) wait until discounts come out and call and hope you can get the dates you want?

I would book now for what you can afford. Later if a code comes out for your hotel and dates you can call and ask for the code to be applied to you exsiting ressies.
I booked last August for this May, and not only got a code applied, I changed resorts too. Sometimes a really good deal comes up and you may want to switch.
It's better to know you have the room first, as they fill up quickly when codes come out.

It depends on when you are planning to go. If you are planning within the next 3 months or so, I'd suggest you go ahead and make your reservations. If a discount becomes available between now and then, you can always make new reservations for the same dates using the new discount code. I have never tried to get the discount after the fact, so I can't advise you there, but I do sometimes end up with 2 or 3 reservations, which can easily be cancelled if a better deal comes along. Either way, you are covered for the dates you prefer. Hope I understood your question, and this info is helpful!:) Have a wonderful trip!

Actually, my full-time position ends this Decemeber. So, by this summer, I want to go ahead and plan for a summer 2003 trip. Maybe get most of it paid for before the end of the year.
We will be at HRH for 3 days before moving to AKL for 7 days this summer. But, only get AKL because we were originally reserved for Pop-Century (which is not going to be open)
I just wondered if having double reservations was okay.
