View Full Version : can you bank and borrow at the same time?

I tried asking the DVC person today, and she didn't understand what I was asking, so I'm going to ask the experts instead.

I am reserving a 2BR and a studio for next February. I will have to borrow a few points from Sept. 2003 to make this ressie complete. However, it's possible that I won't need the studio. I will know this by September of 2002, well before the banking deadline of my 2002 points (I will have just received the 2002 points).

The ressies are linked, but have 2 separate ressie numbers. I am planning to make the studio ressie first, which will use non-borrowed points. I will then make the 2BR ressie, which will use some borrowed points. So far, so good?

If I cancel the studio ressie in September, can I bank those points (remember, those points weren't borrowed) into Sept. 2003? I know that I could if I didn't have borrowed points. I just don't know that if I have borrowed points, this automatically makes me ineligible for banking points.

Basically, I'd be switching points - using the borrowed points for the 2BR ressie and banking the unused points from the cancelled studio into Sept. 2003.

OK, if this sounds confusing, it's because it is. And if the answer is yes that I can borrow and bank at the same time, has anyone actually done this? I hate to be a pioneer about this sort of thing.

I may just solve this whole predicament by doing an add-on...

Yes you can do what you said as long as you remain within your banking windows which you are already aware.

Basically you can bank any current year points into next year and you can borrow any next year points into current year. The two have no relation to each other.

It's very important that you keep track of which points are which and that member services is using the points the way you intend.
