I have a fast question. I am packing the rest of our things now. I need to know if there is a dress code for the California Grill. I am going with my hubby and my 12 year old son. I have ressies for the california Grill and i need to know what to wear. I really need to know what my son can wear more than anything else. Please someone help me so i can zip up my bags!!!!

I can only tell you what we wore, and we felt very comfortable there...

The "guys"- DH and two DS's wore khaki shorts and golf shirts...
DD and I both wore skorts with a nice top, "resort casual" type. We were headed out to the parks that night, so didn't want to be too dressed up (dresses or skirts) but you could certainly do it if you wanted to. Before we went to our final dinner that night, we took a family picture outside of the Contemporary by the pool under the rod-iron Mickey Mouse. It is our favorite picture.

Personally I wouldn't wear jeans and t-shirts to California Grill, but these days people wear just about anything anywhere. Have a great time, it was our family's most memorable meal at WDW.

thank you for answering me so quickly. I am planning on wearing a dress and hubby is dressing up too. I asked because my son is into sports and doesn't like wearing those kind of clothes and i wanted to know if i had to go out and buy him something for dinner. He wears alot of basketball clothes. So it looks like i will have to go shopping, right?

You're so close to leaving, I wouldn't bother going shopping (unless of course he would wear it again). My boys are teens and happen to like to wear collared shirts, but I do remember the days it would have been a struggle, so don't worry about it.

There must be something you've got in his closet to wear that is presentable. Honestly, I've seen posts on this site that people have gone to Calif. Grill in their "park clothes"-tees, etc. and have been fine. It is fun to dress up for a night (like you are doing) but if it is going to ruin his night, come up with a compromise. What always worked for me is putting out stuff on the bed that YOU really would want him to wear --all the way to the outrageous--a shirt and tie, lol, and see how fast he picks out something half- way presentable!!! When it is HIS choice, he'll be much less apt to whine. If all fails, let him be casual, no one really cares!!! What is important is that you have a nice meal with your family, those are the memories, years from now what you wore won't even matter.

p.s. in all the years I've had to do business travel with DH the thing I've fretted the most about is "what to wear" to all of the functions...in the end it doesn't really matter, people wear it all and you end up thinking, what was I worried about?

Thank you so much for that thought. That is such a good idea. I am going to lay it all out and let him pick. It will make it much easier and i will get what i want and he won't even notice. Thank you for your help.
