View Full Version : Code frustration and FOILED by a cruddy postcard!

So, I have done everything to try to get a stinkin' 40% off code. I have re-registered on the website with 2 different names, used my business address, ordered DVDs, called to ask, created 2 new email accounts on yahoo...

I check all three of my email accounts weekly. I check my business mail box. I check my own mailbox... I've been doing this for months...

Finally... yesterday I see a glimmer of hope... I glance through my mail fresh out of the mailbox and see a small corner of Disney blue on a postcard - I am like Charlie with the flicker of a golden ticket - Excitedly, I pull out the postcard which has "Walt Disney World" and read at the top.... "A little something to express BIG THANKS" Oh boy oh boy! I think - I've finally gotten a code!!!!

No. "We're giving you a fun and free way to customize your computer with your very own Disney-themed desktop background AND icons - all designed especially to thank Guests like you...."

Sure, I drop 3 grand and you send me downloadable computer icons? That's a great way to thank me. Good grief.

SEND ME A DAMN CODE!!!

I totally feel your frustration!! I have only been lucky to get a code once - I was actually doubly lucky because I didn't even know it was attached to my name and I only found out about it when I called to make a room only reservation. It was a great surprise. I got a great deal on a preferred room at All Star Movies in December of 2006. It worked out great because we were only there for a long weekend and knew we wouldn't be in our room much at all. I think we paid $65 a night.

I just booked air fare today for a summer trip and I'm hoping that I can get a AAA discount on a room only. I have never been lucky to snag a AAA discount so I'm not holding out much hope!!

LOL:lmao: I loved your post! I got all excited over a post card before only to realize that it was telling me about a general public code! My luck will be, I'll get one and I won't have either the time or the $$ to go!
pixiedust: a little pixie dust hoping for those codes for you all!

I hear you! We've never recieved a private pin code either! This will be our third deluxe resort trip! This year we did qualify for the public discount! The previous two trips we paid rack rate.

We have AP's and have been 20 times or more and have NEVER gotten any such code. In fact I didn't know they even existed until I joined this board.
I will say however that I emailed some constructive criticism via the website, and after several days, received an answer, from a real live person with a phone number, email address and everything.
You might try this approach, outlining your reasons why you feel you deserve this code, and see what happens.
It can't hurt, right?;)

Good Luck!

I think the booking date on the 40% off codes expired in March. I know mine did, so I wonder what is next???:confused3 50% off would be good, :cool1: Oh yeah, like that is going to happen.

I feel everybody's pain.

I've done everything possible to get any kind of code and/or discount. I've registered on the Disney website, taken surveys on the website, called, begged, pleaded, etc. but I've never received any kind of code.

The closest I came to a discount was receiving the water parks and more ticket upgrade last year. I already bought the park hoppers so they weren't free.

I got the Mickey Mom's Club packet in the mail the other day and believe you me, I tore that thing apart thinking maybe just maybe it would have a code in it. Nothing....Nada.....Zilch! I even e-mailed Disney to ask if there would be any discounts for those who applied to be on the Disney Mom's Panel and I was told no.

Our vacation is now just 35 days away and I still have my fingers crossed that a code will come out before we arrive. Thank goodness I haven't been holding my breath waiting on a June code!:headache:

In all our trips to Disney, we have NEVER gotten a Pin code. Not one stinkin code!

The best we get is an AP discount or general code.

I guess Mickey doesn't love us as much as we love him. :confused3

That is exactly what it feels like doesn't it? How can we love a place so much and be so mad about stuff all at the same time? I guess if we didn't love it we wouldn't care.

Don't lose hope! We got that postcard a few months back. Last week we got a code! Only for 20% off, and very limited dates, but it's better than nothing. Now I would never suggest lying :scared1: but DH ordered a new planning video (for me) and answered "never" when they asked how many times you've been to WDW. Don't know if that did it but the code came on the same day as the DVD.

I tried that too.

On the phone, when I call now, I lie all the time to the little survey thing, and always say I have only been once and it was in the 80s. Same on my new registrations on the website. I even tried to fake out the system logging on with my fake registrations and pricing vacations that are the same as what I'm really already booked for.

Hasn't worked yet.

SEND ME A DAMN CODE!!!

Amen to that!!!

Your entire post cracked me up. Very entertaining. Thanks for making me laugh today. :)

BTW, I'm not laughing at your frustration. I'm laughing because your post (and not your predicament) was very entertaining. Wanted to make that clear.

We haven't gotten anything either in our 10 years of going. In less than a month I'll be a CM though so that's a 40-50% discount in itself :cool1: Trust me, if I find out anything about the codes I'll let you guys know! I'll be working with hotel reservations :)

I was frustrated over never getting a code either, and this will be our 3rd trip in 3 years (staying deluxe). I played all the games too, ordered the DVD, used multiple addresses, called weekly to see if there was a rate under our names, etc.

I also did the same for my parents who will be going with us, and haven't been to Disney in 26 years. And guess what? My mom got a 20% off code (via email) a few days ago. AND it was for the dates we're going, AND there was availability for the code at the Poly, so I was able to apply it to our ressie, saving me $450! I too felt like Charlie when my mom handed me a printed out email with Disney characters on it and said, "this isn't what you're hoping for, is it?" I scanned through the email and towards the end, there it was, the words PIN CODE with a number. YIPEE!!!!!

So don't give up hope...it can happen!

My son got on and registered for the DVD. He said he had never been to WDW before. Lo and behold we got a 30% off code for this fall! My DH called yesterday, and we booked Beach Club for December with Deluxe Dining and the wine add-on. It ended up being quite a bit cheaper than the free dining offer we had booked for September.

I was telling my DH that he didn't know how coveted this code was, and he was all like "Yeah, Yeah, they give this to everyone." Then he saw how much it saved, and I made him call to book it. Now he is a believer!

Anyway, I've been waiting for a code for years. Sounds like they only like to give em out to people who rarely go or have never gone before. Wish it would have been 40%, but hey, I'll take the 30%. If you're gonna stay in a Deluxe it can be quite a large discount.

Say you've never been before:wizard:

Well, I really never have been before and I stated that when I ordered my planning DVD and got squat. I also got one for my hubby as well, and well, no code. But we are doing free dining this Sept, so all is not lost! I'd really like a room code eventually so I can come back and do Poly, though!

Man, that sucks! The free dining is a good deal though. I don't know what they use to choose whose gonna get the codes. When my DH called, he said it was like "20 questions" to make sure we were the real recipients of the coveted e-mails, especially since it came in my son's name. Seems to me like the people who spend the most $$ at Disney usually are the ones less likely to get the discounts, which isn't really fair at all, but I'm sure they feel those of us who keep coming back will keep coming back whether they offer us a discount or not...They got us hooked!:fish:

Hope your first trip to the Poly will be magical! You will love the free dining too!:wizard:

Won't they know if you really have been before? A few months ago when I called they said something about 'we see you been here before, with your last visit being Nov of '07'. So, if you lie to them, won't they be able to match your phone with your address and have the 'puter tell them you've been there before and just how many times you've been? Same with the dvd, won't the 'puter know it's got your address and has sent a dvd a yr or 2 ago?

Thanks!

My son ordered it in his name and said he'd never been. Yeah, they know EVERYTHING about me. They could probably tell you what my favorite color is, but they don't know him. He used his own email address. My DH gave them his cell phone number. I don't think the computer cross-referenced it all. Sometimes when I call they have me at different addresses from our old house about 5 years ago, so I must be in the computer more than once.:confused3

I've never gotten a code!

I've never gotten a public code!

I probably won't get a code or public code for our October trip!

I've never gotten anything in the mail from disney. I didn't get to use the public codes because POR king bed rooms weren't part of the public codes. Our octobe trip is the 18th - 25th. In the past the public codes have been for check-in dates on the 20th of october, but probably won't be allowed to use it at POFQ

About five years back I came across a deal in our Sunday paper. Ga resident code, Got a wing room at CR for $129. Could have had WL for $99. Tha may have been the past PIN type code for us. We used to get cards all the time. After I purchased APs no more codes. NOw we get nothing but the MOM's club packet.

I hate these posts where people go on and on about how they would lie, cheat, and steal to get a code... and then end with a curse for Disney. Are you folks listening to yourselves? Are you going to teach your kids to lie, cheat, and curse Disney? Yuk. Eew. Go somewhere else.

Well this is obviously too small of a sampling to draw any conclusions, but it seems obvious to me that they don't give you a code if they know you're coming anyway. Just look at the sigs of the people on this thread who are yearning for a code - they all seem to go to WDW once a year or more. If they know you're coming, why would they make it cheaper for you? I know that if they gave you a 40% off, you might go for a deluxe instead of a value and end up spending more money. But that's probably the exception, not the norm.

I've never heard of an e-mail code! What is in the Subject Line?

Make sure you check your spam file. That's where our went. It had "***** Family your Disney Dream is Here!" When you open it said "A Dream Offer for the ***** Family" We're so excited to hear you're thinking about taking another amazing Walt Disney WorldŽ vacation! And you'll be excited to know that the Disney Parks DVD you ordered is on the way. But until it arrives, use the included offer and information to get a head start on the fun - there's plenty of it!

Since you're interested in coming in December, here's a great offer we picked out for you and your family. It's the best way to open a whole world of Disney dreams and possibilities. Then it lists the offer details and gives you the pin code.

Unfortunately, now that a code has finally arrived, we won't be able to use ours. :guilty:

Good luck!
