Ok... well I saw that there was a pacing group list set up for the walkers, and in order to not hijack their thread I thought I would start one for the runners. It might be nice to be able to find someone planning on running the same pace to run with.

You're probably too speedy fro me, but I'm hoping for a 10:55 pace. That will depend on teh weather, though.

I plan to stay in the 12's. However I am not sure how the heat and humidity will affect this northerner.

I'm hoping to be somewhere in the 10:00/mi range. Fingers crossed!

I hope to come in just under 9 mpm. perhaps 8:50. It's possible that Amy and Angie will be running the same pace. Actually I need Angie with me for the first couple of miles, since she is sane early in races and I lack that quality.

Did my last LR today...10 miles @ 90 minutes.
I hope to be around 8:45 race pace.

Well, it's my first race and I was hoping for 9:30-9:40, but since I've been fighting some nagging low level injuries, and since this race is in Florida, I'm not too sure anymore. But I definitely want to do under 10 mpm. (Can you tell I haven't quite "released the outcome" of my time goal yet?)

I am REALLY hoping for a 12 minute pace. But realisticially my pace is probably going to wind up closer to the walkers.....

My real goal may be to do mile 1 at 13 minutes. I think what I normally do is "take off" like there is something chasing me LOL! Then I die. So I was thinking if I MADE MYSELF go slow the first mile I could work into my avg pace. That works in training, but I am not as good in races. (I don't seem to find a "stride/pace" zone until after mile 1!)

I am going to try for an 8:45 pace. My long runs have been slower, but I just did a 10K at a much quicker pace, so pace calculators say that I can maintain that.

Y'all are just too fast for me! But, this is great motivation to help me step it up.

I guess on a good day I am at 11 or 12 minute pace (but I slip in minute walks here and there). However, I am recovering from a boo-boo hip and just really want to finish in time and HAVE FUN. My training was halted 4/11. My DH (dennyha) is with me but I might TRY to stay with my same-pacers so that he can run-on if he wants. Or, he may just want to hang with the group, too.

Calcio - I know what you mean... I have the hardest time at the beginning of the race keeping my pace in check. I mean it feels like I'm going the right pace, but in all actuality I am seriously NOT. And I always pay for it at the end too!!

My pace has been between 10-11 but I think it's going to fall back to 12 because I've never run in hot or humid weather before.

I'm so afraid to post my pace aspirations...feel like I'm jinxing myself :(.

I have a 3 tier goal plan:

If the stars align: 8:45
If I'm having fun and feeling good...but not quite at my best: 9:15
Will be completely pleased with: 9:30

Put me in the 9:30 group LOL. Training has been spotty the past few weeks...legs were bugging me a bit....so I'm just really hoping to go out there and have fuN!

I'm with Amy on this one, I'm kind of afraid to post my goals because I feel like I might be jinxing myself, there are so many variables . . .

I'm running 20 miles this Saturday
I'm planning on racing the Minnie 5k for a PR
Also, count me in the group of those who have no idea what effect the heat and humidity will have on my pace.

Anyway, I'd really like to come in right under 9:00 (like 8:59:rotfl: )

I will probably start the race doing 9 minute miles and then see how I feel.

I guess that is the long-winded way of saying, put me down for 9:00.

Cindy: I'm hoping to PR the 5k too!!! :goodvibes Jinxing aside...what are you shooting for at the 5K? I'm hoping for 26 if the humidity doesn't kill me. I really have no clue though....my runs the past month haven't been stellar. Bottom line...we're in WDW so it's ALLLLL good! :thumbsup2

My current official PR is 26:08, however I ran an unofficial 25:59 (my watch time in a gun time race where it took me over 30 seconds to cross the start line), so I would really like 25:59 (or anything faster, obviously). For the last 2 5ks I have run (the 26:08 and the fake 25:59) I used a strategy that I read in Runners World - run the first mile at a faster pace than you will be able to maintain for the whole distance. I plan on doing this again and will try to run the first mile in around 8 min. and then push myself as much as I can for the rest of the race (of course, assuming the humidity doesn't kill me).

Hi,

Please put me down for 9:30. I'm hoping to be faster, but given my (lack of) depth of training since January I think that's reasonable.

I'm hangin' at 12 right now. That would give me a solid PR!

I am about an 11-12 minute mile. That is what I hope to maintain during the 15K.

It might be run a mile, walk a quarter mile or whatever but I hope to maintain that.

I am getting excited.

I coming to MINNIE WEEKEND and running in the Minnie 15K! :cool1:  :dance3: :cheer2:

Thanks to the persuasion of Charlie (Judy's DH), yes - yet again... look at my signature and Craig (Calcio). Both of which have made me offers I can't refuse.

I have not seriously trained for this, I have maybe run a total of 6.5 miles since completing the Goofy in January. I have no hopes of getting a good time, but I hope to run somewhere around 10:30 to 11:00 miles.

I am finishing up graduate school and have no (sane) reason to be coming down for this. However my wonderful DW (Cam   :flower3: ) said we'd make it work... so here I come!

See everyone there!

I don't know if I should be posting here or on the walkers thread because I do a little of both. I really want to be a runner but I give out and have to walk a bit and then I can run again and then I have to walk. I am definately going to try to keep a 12 minute pace even though lately in training it has fallen below that. At least I know I keep it under the 15 minute pace even if it ends up being right under.

I tend to like overestimate my finishing time because if I underestimate then I am afraid I will get upset and loose my motivation. It worked with the TOT 13k and I was under my estimate. So for now I am shooting for a 2 hour total time and anything better than that will be ok with me. I will definately be happy with a 12 minute pace (especially since in a 5k I have an 11 min pace) How I would love to be under 10 mins but that is a long long time away.

Howard - I think you need to take it really easy and run with me! Then again, if it's really hot and humid, I may be closer to teh 12 mpm group. :confused3

Hi all !!
I'll be trying to equal my latest run/walks..
Just under a 12 average, peaking at just under 8, walking at high 12's
Been following my garmin's time prompts for the last workout.. 2 min run, 3 min walk. Was happy with the results and very happy not looking at watch constantly. Will probably use it for events too, to try to keep on track.
But dunno.. Did the NKF5K in Early march and kicked it out for a PR of 30:35...
Just hoping I can sustain SOMETHING for the 9 miles..

Any company appreciated.. Figure there will be small clouds of WISH shirts around..

Well... I was right. My goal pace changed after my 8 miles on Saturday!! I kept about an 8:47 pace, but come Sunday and today my legs were so sore. I am also getting a bit of a nagging pain in my left shin which means LOTS of ice, and ibuprofin. It also means I need to not push too hard on Sunday, or I might really do some damage!! I am getting so excited. Less than a week away!!

ok so i tend to run around 9 min per mile- maybe a tad faster at the beginning but will give myself a bit of breathing space due to the HUMIDITY! There seem to be a few of us around this pace and i'd love to run with someone but have to warn you that i will need my music to keep me going so may not be best company!

See you sat/sun
