Thanks for the info.
We noticed some of the construction on our last trip, and it really looked large.
The renovations and expansion actually started last year. Lots of the rooms have already been refurbished. I know they were doing the Concierge while I was there, because we were the last to leave before they started, but the had closed concierge and we were given food vouchers. The new convention center will be awesome.

Oh no! we'll be there in August. Does this mean there will be alot of construction going on during our stay? I hope not, was hoping for a nice relaxing stay. Last time we went and stayed at the Dolphin, Chrysler was in town and took over the whole complex. Boy it really put a damper on the guest who weren't part of the Chrysler convention. I really love the Dolphin and was hoping for a little quieter trip this time.

Luvdisney,
We'll be there in July and I was wondering the same thing.
Is the construction very intrusive?

I'm not that fimillar with the area around the Swan and Dolphin but it would seem the new additioin would be to the left of the current Convention Center in this picture.

so, they are expanding the convention center only right, they arent adding more rooms??
Are they changing the decor of the rooms with the rehab or keeping it the same?
I'm intrigued by the new restaurant too!! anyone know when it's supposed to open???

All of the rooms will be re-done with a warmer decor. In addition, all rooms will get the new "Heavenly Sleep" beds, which guarantee the most comfortable sleep you've ever had. These beds are in place at most Starwood properties and are a huge hit with guests. In fact, they've had so many guests interested in purchasing these beds for their homes that they instituted a system where they can be orderws on the spot.
Every surface will be repainted and freshened up as well. It's a rather extensive re-do when you consider that the $70 million price tag will not add a single room to the resort. The additional convention space will be situated between the Dolphin and Yacht Club in an area not visible on the picture posted above.
