I think this may be a silly question, but should both my DH and I both join the flying club or do we get as many miles as we can with just one membership?

You both need a membership as can only claim for flights etc taken by the person listed as a member.

It should tell you how much each flight earns and that is for the individual flight. I think MCO economy is about 8500 miles for a return flight.

Last time I booked it allowed me to get all the points on 1 membership (the lead traveller) as the tickets were booked together

How many points did you get in total?
I believe that is only possible if you hold a Gold Flying Club card. Each person over the age of 12 needs their own membership and under 12's can only be added to a Gold Card member.

I got 4336 points according to my statement for a trip to Orlando. I'm confused as that doesn't seem enough for a return flight for 1 person. Now very confused!

That would be the amount of points for the lowest class fare for one person. The standard economy points is 8500 or thereabouts, but if your ticket showed class N then that only gets 50% of the points.

Exact figure for MAN-MCO return is 8448 miles. Per person as Claire says.
If you are registering more than one person do it thru miles more friends link, then you both earn bonus miles:goodvibes

So if my hubby has 17000 miles from our flights last year I should have the same ??
Is there any way to combine the points once we get to the magical 40000 miles between us.
Thanks for your help - can't believe I missed this one.

Yes you should have your own account with same amount. You need your Husband to send you a link from his account for Miles more friends, then register thru that. Unfortunately you only have 6 months to claim missing miles, if your flghts were more than 6 months ago you have lost them now.

You can only go back 6 months if already registered with Flying Club, if you need to register you cannot back claim any miles.

You can Claire. I just did it for Easter. Registered DS's friend after we got home then claimed his missing miles. Only miles we have not got is the miles more friends bonus(neither of us got them) but he has 8448 miles on his account.:thumbsup2

Hmmm back in 2003 I tried to claim for DH as he hadn't registered before our flights and was told we couldn't, maybe things have changed!

I think it must have done, I registered tonight and I now have approx 14,000 miles in my account which is the miles from my Dec flight along with a 1,000 mile bonus. DH's account is also showing the bonus thanks to Wayneg :thumbsup2
