Hi!
I suspect this question has been asked before, but is the DDP worth it if we don't plan on eating any desserts? I have 2 kids and they probably would eat their dessert, and my husband will as well, but I probably won't (well, I'd like to but the calories will kill me!). And don't we each get 2 desserts per day? That seems like too much! And my problem is, I would want to get my money's worth, so would end up eating them!!
If I didn't get the DDP, we would rarely order dessert, or share.
We are going next week so need to decide whether to get it soon!!
Thanks!

Dessert is a relative term, especially with CS. We got yogurt as dessert and saved it for breakfast. At TS meals it'll be more straight forward, but fruit, a scoop of ice cream/sorbet and sugar free items are often options.
You don't have to eat it, seems like there are 3 more willing mouths! Also be honest about your calories at Disney. On vacation you'll likely eat more than at home. At Disney you can walk and swim more too, so the calorie count may be balanced off by your activity level.
As to worth you'll have to do you own personal math and decide.

When I did the math for us... the dessert was a big part of making use of the value of the plan. If we were not dessert eaters we would most likely skip the plan and pay OOP.
This will all depend on what is right for you and if you are using the plan more for value or convenience.

Dessert may make or break the plan for you. We don't really eat dessert and with a dessert included with the CS and an additonal snack it really can be just too much food for some. It is difficult not to want to squeeze the value out of DDP so if you'll be tempted to order and pay tip on food you don't really want I'm doubtful of the savings in the long run.
One thing I noticed, the value isn't really there anymore for the signature dining. You could no doubt break even using the credits at 1TS locations even without dessert, but with the 2TS locatons it would be more difficult.
The old plan had value even if you skipped courses, the new not so much.

When I calculated for my upcoming trip, I didn't count the deserts at the CS since we would never purchase them. Will probably take them, but I hope to occasionally get fruit for the dessert.
For the table service, I counted the desserts for calculating the tip if on the plan, but didn't for OPP.
We still should come out ahead with the dining plan (assuming I am guessing correctly on what my teen DD will order), even without counting the snacks, but it is not a huge savings (5% - 10% after I add in $ for snacks).
And with the dining plan we can get the entrees we want without thinking about the cost (I came from a limited background and even though I can afford it now, I still have frugle tendacies.)
I thought about DDE, but since there are only the two of us for four nights, we won't save enough to cover the $60 charge. While I do plan on a solo trip in October and probably won't get the dining plan then, when we take our family trip in March, we will likely get DDP. So I don't know how much it would really save.

My DH can't always eat the desserts that are on the menu because he needs to stay on a low fat diet. The TS places were always willing to give him some fruit salad instead, if you want to watch your calorie intake that could be an option for you.
