Third Time is the Charm Trip Report!
Cast members:
Me: Denise, Mom of the :dance3: and Disney Fanatic
DH: Fantastic daddy and DH, adores me and our :dance3: and so takes us to Disney (he even took me to WDW for our Disneymoon)! :love2:
DS, DS, and DD, our 7-year old triplets who live, eat, breathe Disney! :thumbsup2
Jitters: our 16 year old Tabby cat who will stay home and relish the peace and quiet! :cat:A little background, Trip History, and Recent Events
This will be our third trip with the kids to Disney. We took them in December 2005 (GF) for their 1st trip and had a MAGICAL time filled with amazing pixie dust. We returned in Sept 2006 (CR) and once again had a magical trip and even rode the jeep with Mickey Mouse in the AK parade! Here is our Live from Disney 2006 trip report. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1232976)
For this 3rd trip, we were originally scheduled to go last September 2007. Unfortunately, my DS, Rees, got very ill and was hospitalized for over 25 days, had 3 major surgeries, and missed and entire quarter of school. It was an extremely difficult time for us all. :guilty: Here is the link to DS' prayer thread and all the background. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1608143) DS his special needs and has Cerebral Palsy. His new wheelchair will not be in for our trip, so we are renting one for him. He thrives on Disney and talks about it non-stop. It was especially tough on him since he was hospitalized, not feeling well, and had to miss his favorite trip. He literally counts down for a year in advance. There's not ANYONE we know who doesn't know exactly how many days, minutes, SECONDS are left until we leave. ;)
So, we rescheduled for February 2008. Then, BAM, DS and DD get the flu the week we are supposed to go. 2nd cancellation was really tough for all of us to take. :sad1: We were sorely disappointed.
BUT, now we are FINALLY headed to Disney for 9 days on Friday! :cool1: The kids think we are going Saturday, but we are checking them out of school early on Friday to drive down. They are going to be so excited. I can't WAIT to meet them in their school's office when their teacher's tell them they are checking out early for an "appointment" and say, "let's just go ahead and go to Disney TODAY!" :woohoo: :yay: :faint:
Resort(s), Parties, and Surprises Galore!
We are staying at the Contemporary Resort with a MK view for 5 days and then switching to the Beach Club with a Standard view for 4 nights and are on the Deluxe Dining Plan. We are going to the P&PP on May 2 and got tickets for the Disney Channel Games Concert on May 3rd. :worship: I also bought us a Disney brick with our names in front of the MK last summer, and I haven't told them. So that's another surprise! :thumbsup2 We are all so excited and can't wait to arrive! I am also getting an AP this trip, and DH has agreed to try to book a bounceback trip for December if it's available. And since I've made a live trip report thread... WE ARE REALLY GOING THIS TIME!
This is truly a celebratory trip for us all!!! Not only for DS' good health and the kids FINALLY getting to go, but it's also our 13th Wedding Anniversary (we Disneymooned at the Poly :bride: :groom: ). And I just got a new job as a NICU nurse and will start in August. :cool1:party: :dancer: :jumping1:  :cheer2:

Right now we're working on the packing and last minute details. I actually didn't unpack a lot of stuff from February (like the pin lanyards, cleaning supplies, etc). I used to DISign shirts on the DISigns board. I have made 3 sets of custom shirts for our trip. The rest of the days we are coordinating in color. Tomorrow I have a ton of errands to run and last minute things to buy. Then Thursday I will pack everything. Once the kids go to school on Friday, we will load the van before I go to work. I am leaving early (DH works from home), and then we will go pick up the kids at school. All the teachers at their school know we are leaving early, and I think they are as happy for us as we are! :cool1: I just don't know how much longer I can keep quiet. I am dying to tell them, but the surprise will be worth the wait!

Denise,
I cannot wait until I can see pictures from your trip.
I know your kids will be so surprised to see the brick. Be sure to take a pic of that.
I know that being able to have a tile at Epcot meant a lot to Stephanie and I (even though she really wanted a brick).

Denise- I'm so excited to hear that your trip is on! That's so great after all the delays!!
When I was little kid, I was called down to the office and in those days that meant only one thing.... you were in TROUBLE! Well this one time it sure as heck didn't mean that. My mom came and picked me and my DB up and we went on a surprise trip to the circus. While it wasn't Disney... it was a surprise- and one that I remember with great fondness to this day! Your kids are gonna remember this forever and always look back at it with a smile on their faces.
Have a wonderful, joyful trip! I'm looking forward to keeping up on this TR!

I was at the kids' school today volunteering. All the teachers know we are checking them out early for a surprise, and they were as excited as I am! In fact, 3 or 4 are coming to the office at 1pm just so they can see their reaction. I'll have the camcorder and camera ready!
And my new BB Curve arrived, so now I'll be able to take even more pictures with my camera phone!

Have fun on your trip. I remember reading your "live" updates from your Sept. trip and thought they were fantastic!
I read your thread about the issues with Rees, and am glad he is eating well, and I TOTALLY understand canceling trips because of little ones with medical issues. We had to cancel our Sept 2007 trip because of issues with the baby, hopefully he stays out of the hospital for our Aug/Sept 2008 trip!
Looking forward to your live updates on your beautiful family!

We are on the road! We picked up the kids and told them we were going to Disney World right now!. They didn't believe us and kept asking where we were really going? When we got to the van, and they saw all the stuff their eyes got huge. I looked at Rees and said "you'll be sleeping at the CR tonight and can watch Wishes from the balcony!" Then they ALL started screaming and were bouncing off the walls. They said it was the best surprise ever!!! They are still in shock, but grinning from ear to ear. I just can't believe we're FINALLY going. We should arrive around 9pm tonight. I'll be back later. Stay tuned!

We are at the Plaza for lunch. Rees is wiped and headed back to the hotel for the rest of the afternoon after we eat. So far we've ridden Pooh, Peter Pan, IASW, Mickey Phil, Dumbo, and Snow White since noon. DD and DS want to ride POC, Splash Mtn, and Big Thunder next. We are eating dinner at 1900 PF tonight. The crowds have picked up. We ate at Gaspy's last night, and I'm posting on my BB.

I'd say MK isn't too bad. Pooh was 20 minutes and Snow White is 15.

If you poke around in there, let me know! Trying to decide to get water/milk/OJ delivered OR just pay the price and buy it there! Have fun, my boys are 7, and 9 and we're reading along:cool1:

We had a great day. After DH and Rees went back to the room, we rode HM, Big Thunder Mtn, Buzz, Space Mtn, and POC. We left at 7pm (there is another Grad Night tonight so MK closed at 7pm) and met them riding the monorail. Rees was feeling better. We came back to the CR and DD changed into her Cinderella costume for dinner. We rode the monorail to the GF. It was packed, and the MK was packed this afternoon. SM was 90 min before it broke down, space Mtn was 70 minutes. Dinner was great at 1900 PF and the characters were wonderful. Anastasia was hilarious (Marti and Marci, it was the same girl from our trip). Lady Tremaine took the kids and paraded them all over the lobby of the GF. It was too cute! After dinner we came back and put the kids to bed. Tomorrow we go to DHS and eat lunch at Hollywood and Vine character meal and the Brown Derby for dinner. Oh, and I finally got to show them our MK brick this am. They were all shocked and quite excited!! And to answer a couple of questions: We also got our refillable mugs and you can't refill them after 11pm when Tempo closes. I also called and booked the bounceback offer for December for 4 nights. I didn't get our 1st choice of resorts our dates, so I'm not sure if we will go. Have a good night everyone

Hi, everyone. We had another great day! We slept in so that Rees could catch back up, and he felt much better. Lunch at H&V with the Playhouse Disney characters was really cute. The kids especially loved dancing with them up front. I'm glad we did it this trip, as I have a feeling they may not want to eat there in the not too distant future. DD, DS, and I rode Rockin' roller coaster. DD loved it, and DS wasn't too sure about it. He had tears after he got off, but then seemed to warm up to it as the afternoon went on. I was really impressed as this was his first trip to even ride ANY roller coaster. We went to the new Playhouse Disney show, and it was adorable. The kids loved it since they are still big fans (especially Rees) of MMCH and My Friends Tigger and Pooh. Rees didn't want to go to Little Mermaid today as we left the poncho (he is very sensitive to touch), so we'll go Wednesday. We saw the new Block Party parade, and the kids had so much fun! DD and DS went with DH to Star Wars, we saw most of the HSM new show, and we all went to Lights Motor Action which they all love, and that's where we saw Anne Marie and her family. She said the cruise was really great, and they got to double dip at the beach because there was some kind of problem with the ship. She missed Palo because of that. We had dinner at the Brown Derby, and it was yummy. I finally got to try the Grapefruit Cake! They gave us a Champagne toast complimentary for our anniversary. We were going to go to Fantasmic tonight, but we have an early ADR for Donald's b'fast at the AK, so we came back. Wednesday we'll go to Little Mermaid, Muppet Movie, Indiana Jones (was closed today for the cheerleader competition), Beauty and the Beast, and Fantsmic. We drove back to the CR (and, Marti, you are so right about the van being easier!). We watched Wishes from the balcony tonight and also went to watch the monorails from the 4th floor viewing area.
As far as crowds, there were a TON of cheerleaders in DHS today for the finals of the competition. Lines for standby did seem long to me (70 minutes for RNR, 60 for ToT), but the Fast Pass lines were very quick. The weather is HOT, HOT, HOT (almost 90 today). We are all pink and had to buy some Aloe Vera tonight.
I checked and Sundries had a 1/2 gallon of milk for $2.89, and chocolate milk for around the same. I'll check better later. And we booked the bouceback in Dec for the GF, but I don't think the dates will work so I'll try to change them later.
Tomorrow we go to AK, b'fast at Donald's, and then dinner at Narcoosee's. Have a good night everyone!

We rode Everest, and DD and DS loved it. We rode the train to Conservation Station, saw the Nemo musical, and Pocahontas show. At FOTLK, DD was chosen to teach the lion section how to roar and then all 3 got to be in it and do the parade. This is their 3rd consecutive time to be in the show! We are now at the Bone Yard which they love. We will probably go ride EE again and then head back. We have dinner at Narcoosee's at 7pm. Tomorrow we go back to MK for the day. Dinner at Narcoossee's was delicious. I had the Surf and Turf, Tuna Tartar strawberry shortcake, Sangria, and a Firecracker (after dinner coffee drink).. YUMMY! We had a lovely table with a wonderful view. It was very kid friendly, and we will definitely go back. Rode the monorail back and saw the EWP and then Wishes. Tomorrow we have an early b'fast at 'Ohana and then spend the day at the MK. We also eat dinner at CRT. Tomorrow is our last night at the CR, and then we switch to the BC. Oh, and the CR delivered balloons, a signed Mickey card, and 3 chocolate Castle puzzle cards to the kids today. This is hands down our "home" at WDW. Night all!

So two of your kids rode EE? My dd will be 7 in June and she loves rollercoasters and I know will want to try EE. My DH and I tried it last May and loved it, but I wasn't sure if the ride itself might be too intense for a younger kid. I remember feeling how strong the forces were going around those circular turns--but loving every minute of it. Your kids did ok?
I didn't realize that you were splitting your stay with the BC. We did that last year, 3 nights at CR, then 4 at BC. How funny.

:woohoo: Today was great. We got up early for breakfast at 'Ohana. The line to check in was 20 minutes :scared1: , but we were seated around 10 minutes later. The food was good, and the kids love the parade and Stitch. Stitch took Rees' milk and drank it, and they thought that was hilarious. Then we bought some pins (Rees now wants to trade too) and headed to the MK. The crowds were great today, and it was cooler with overcast this am. Wait times were very nice (20 min for Pooh, 20 min for Splash, 10 for BTMRR, 10 for Buzz).
We rode Aladdin's carpets, Jungle Cruise , POC (which Rees rode and LOVED!), Splash (which drenched DD, DS, and me), HM (Rees didn't ride), Pooh, Teacups, Indy Race Cars, Buzz, and then Laugh Floor. At the Laugh Floor DH was picked at the beginning to dance, and then Rees was selected at the end by Mike W's nephew for the kid who tells what he wants to be (Rees said a pilot). The show is adorable. Then we headed to the Castle to eat at CRT for dinner. the food was good and we all enjoyed the Celebration show. After dinner we went to Toontown and rode the train around the MK, saw Mickey and Minnie's house and Donald's boat. Then Rees out of the blue said he wanted to ride Goofy Barnstormer. Well, he ADORED it and insited on riding again immediately. Then he asked if we could go back to BTMRR because he wanted to ride THAT! I was SHOCKED! Well, we rode it and he loved it and wasn't scared even of the dark tunnel with the bats!!! :cool1: So we rode it again twice. Then he asked if we could go back to AK to try EE. :faint: I am so happy that he was able to conquer some of his fears and sensory issues and ride POC and 2 roller coasters today. What a huge difference. :woohoo: This is the child who we couldn't get to go on Peter Pan 2 years ago. We just had the best time today.:goodvibes
After BTMRR we got a Dole Whip float (hi, Marti! ) and some treats at the Main Street Confectionary. Then we came back to the CR and watched Wishes from the 4th floor balcony. We are now packing up to head to the BC tomorrow to check in. We go back to DHS tomorrow and then Epcot on Friday.
Have a great night and celebrate with me that Rees did so well! :dance3:

Oh, I forgot that I met several DISers today. Monicatb from Mexico and another lurker on the DISign board and someone from TGM. They all recognized the kids and our matching shirts.
That is great that you were all able to enjoy the rides! My DS5 has developed a fear of the rides & I don't think DD2 will be tall enough when we go in July to ride much, so we'll probably be doing the Buzz Lightyear ride alot. Maybe my DS will become more fearless like Rees. Wonder what was the turning point? Seeing his siblings enjoy the rides so much?

Hi :) I know you don't know me, but I had a quick question if that's ok. If you don't mind me asking, what time was your reservation for Ohana? We're trying to decide what time to schedule breakfast there and want to avoid a huge line if possible. We're not sure which is better, earlier seating time or one of the last seating times.
Thanks! :)

We are checked into the BC and we picked up our seat tickets to the Disney Channel games concert on Saturday. We have a very nice standard room on the 2nd floor. It is over the courtyard facing the little mermaid statue and has a full balcony. We literally are 20 steps from the stairs in the lobby so it couldn't be more convenient. I also was able to change the bounceback date to Dec 1-14 at the CR Bay Lake view. We are pulling into the HS parking lot now.

Today was really fun. We checked out of the CR and went to pick up our tickets to the concert. We have lower level between 1st base and Home plate. Then we checked in here at noon and our room was ready. We really like the layout of the room and our location is great. Our room is directly over the BC mercantile shop and steps from the lobby. We went to HS and they were doing the DCG parade. We got seats in the reserved VIP section (the cast members were terrific and let us sit there so Rees could stay in his wheelchair out of the sun). While DH held our spot, we went and watched the HSM pep rally. They loved it. During the parade we saw the Jonas Bros, Cheetah Girls, Selena Gomez, and a new star of the Camp Rock movie. I got some great pictures. We also went to the Little Mermaid show, Muppet Movie, Indiana Jones, Beauty and the Beast, and Fantasmic. We ate dinner at 50's PT and it was yummy as usual. We had the same server as 2 years ago, Cindy. Her niece is expecting triplets, so we had a lot to talk about. We came back and the kids crashed. They are super tired. Tomorrow we have lunch at the Garden grill so we will sleep in really late. We also have dinner at PSB. The big thing is both the boys want to try Soarin' snd Test Track, so keep you fingers crossed!! Have a good night!

We ended up riding Test Track 3 times (when we went the CM let us stay on for a 2nd ride). We also rode Soarin' 3 times today. They loved them both! We rode Nemo, did Turtle Talk with Crush, the boat ride in Mexico, Living with the land boat ride, Soarin' and TT. We walked around WS and got pictures with Marie and Aurora in France; Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins and Alice in England; Donald in his Three Caballeros outfit; saw Belle in yellow, Ariel, Mary Poppins, Aurora, and Snow White for PSB dinner. Dinner was good, but Davis is TOTALLY over the princesses. It was funny when Aurora kissed him and he got so mad. Guess he's a tween now!
We came back and got some Gelato at the BC Marketplace. Tommorow we rest, eat b'fast at Cape May with Goofy, and go to DTD. Then we hit the P&PP tomorrow night and eat dinner at Crystal Palace. Saturday is swim at SAB and then go to the DCG concert. I've got to get Rees in bed, so have a good night!

Oh, I forgot the Flower and Garden Festival today. Epcot is just beautiful. We especially loved the Neverland Area that had Captain Hook, Peter Pan, a Teepee, and canoe. They also had really cute topiaries of Snow White and the dwarfs, the Three Caballeros, Scar and Zazu from Lion King. There were red geraniums EVERYWHERE, and it was just lovely. I got DD a 2008 Epcot F&G festival pin for her collection too. I didn't see any t-shirts, but they had lots of cute garden stuff in some booths set up at the entrance to WS.

Thanks for the update and have another great day tomorrow. :thumbsup2

$10 if John can finish the Kitchen Sink!
ETA: And I want pictures!!!
Rees is the one who wants the Kitchen Sink! We promised we'd get one too.
:rotfl: and I bet Rees will try to eat the whole thing! Are you extending your $10 to cover him too, Marti??

Well, Rees was EXHAUSTED and just got up, so we missed Cape May. I'm going to stop and ask if they can fit us in tomorrow am or Sunday before leaving. We're getting ready and going to DTD. We'll grab a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich and shop. We eat at CP at 4pm and then will spend the afternoon at MK before the P&PP. I think we'll grab a Casey's hot dog later tonight. Have a great day! And, Marti, I'll take your bet!

Hi Denise - Glad your vacation is going so well!
I was wondering what the kids thought of BC compared to GF and CR?
With our 3 youngest - dd (10) favorite is YC, dd (9) favorite if Poly and ds (7) favorite is GF!
Have fun at SAB!!!!

:dance3:

Ok, it is SUPER late. Kids loved DTD, and we ate at Earl of Sandwich. Had early dinner at CP. The P&PP was fantastic, extremely low crowds, great weather, all rides walk ons. We had a wonderful time, but I am exhausted, so the details will have to wait. Tomorrow we swim (I have sun rash/poisoning and am one big red bumpy blob, so I may have to hide), and then the concert tomorrow night with Hannah Montana, Jonas Bros, and the Cheetah Girls. Night y'all!

Well, we had so much fun at SAB, that we voted to skip the concert to swim longer. So, we just came in and will head to the Boardwalk to walk around and see what we can find to eat. We may end up going back to Epcot to grab CS or order room service here. We ate lunch at Beaches & Cream and we got the Kitchen Sink. We only ate half, but it was yummy! They gave Rees a magic moments certificate for the KS when we told them why we had ordered it (he had talked about it non-stop when he was in the hospital). I will update with pictures and lots of details on Monday. Tomorrow we eat at Cape May Cafe and then drive home. Thanks for following along. This has been a wonderful trip, perfect weather, and tons of fun. Have a great night!

We went to Spoodles for dinner, and it was the first meal I have really not enjoyed. The food was just not what we like. Afterwards, we got some pastries to take home from the Boardwalk Bakery. We also rented a surrey bike. Boy, that hill from the YC to the Boardwalk is a killer! We are packed and just finished getting the kids ready for bed. We have b'fast at Cape May and then are running back by DTD to use the rest of our Snack and CS credits. We should be home around 8pm tomorrow night. This was a GREAT trip, and we all can't wait to come back.
