Happy Birthday To Me!!! Got A New Toy!!!

Well I got it...the Pentax 50mm f1.4. My wife wanted me to order it before we go to DW on the 1st of May. I was going to go through B&H but they are closed for passover and I could not talk to anyone about delivery. They have overnight but I am a little leary about trusting computer info as apposed to talking to a person. Groucho (thanks) recommended Adorama so I called them and ordered it. Brian guaranteed that I would have it Wednesday the 30th. Still cutting it close but he said I was first in line for shipping and it will be at my house as scheduled. I am very excited about using this thing.:cool1:

Thanks Gdad, another vote of confidence in a company that I have not used yet. Makes me feel better. I just e-mailed Frank from Adorama and am on hold on the phone right now with them. My wife would be more comfortable with overnighting it so I am going to change the delivery to get it a day sooner. Makes me feel better too but was trying to save a little $. Better safe then sorry, I would hate to have it sitting here in AZ while I am in DW.

Aint that the truth. This way if I miss it and they don't want to leave it at the door they can deliver the next day or I can go pick it up at the hub. Frank from Adorama already replied with a new order confirmation showing next day air.

Thats what happened to me a few weeks ago- I missed delivery and opted to pick it up at the local Distribution Center- but since I called too late it was not available until the 3rd day. Very frustrating knowing your lens is so close yet so far away. :rolleyes:

You will like it. I really enjoy using mine. At WDW I use it in most indoor situations and once the sun has set. I also use it when I really want to limit the DOF. The 50mm is sharper than my kit, but I still use it most of the time during the day for the flexibility of zooming.

Thanks for the tips ukcatfan, I know that I will use it indoors and at night but will still like to have the zoom capabilities of my other lenses. I have read that some people have used the lens throughout the day and have loved it. I am sure that since it will be new I will use it exclusively for the beginning of the trip. Will post pics when I get back.
