I'd like to see a thread with JUST pictures of the pools.
I didn't post this on the resorts forum, because I want more than pictures of the resort pools. I'd like to see ALL the pools on Disney property!!!

Resort pools
Water Park pools
Disney's Vero Beach Pools
Disney's Hilton Head pools
CM pools??? (are there any?)
etc etc etc

I'd like to see professional pictures (from off websites) AS WELL AS "your" pictures from your trips.

As far as your pictures... if theres one thats AT the pool, and its funny (something or someone doing something silly, etc) thats great too!!! Lets see it! (:rotfl2: :scared1: or :headache: )
Unusual camera angles? Aerial Images? Pictures of people participating in unusual events at the pools (swim meets? groups? athletes? etc)

ANYTHING involving the pools at ANY Disney property!!!

Why am I doing this? I am NEVER satisfied with the pictures I see on websites of the pools. I'd like a really big thread on swimming pools!!!
If hundreds of DISers will cancel or switch their resort bookings when a pool closing happens, then it plays to reason, that the pool is VERY important! But we just don't seem to see many pool photos. Lets change that!!!:thumbsup2

I'll try and get some online tomorrow and post them as well.

You did great!!!
I'd LOVE to see this thread get really big! I'd love to see more pictures of the pools you don't hear about.
Its not that I made it, I'm always looking for pool pictures every time we consider a different resort. When you find them online, they are always these little "thumbnail" pictures taken at 6:00 AM.
Its kinda like Myrtle Beach.... You send off for free info. You get these glossy colorful brochures. In the picture, the resort you book has this tropical pool with exotic plants, its HUGE, and its bright and colorful. The ocean behind it is bright blue.
You check into your room and when you get to the pool, you kinda stand there... like a limp carrot, staring at this concrete gray, steamy, pale and bleak pool. The bright blue water in the brochure is greenish yellow, and the Halle Berrys, Pamela Andersons, and Linsey Lohans that were all around the pool are more resembling Ursula.:rotfl2: The David Hasselhoffs are replaced with Buddas. The plants that were in the pictures aren't anywhere to be found. The bright blue ocean backdrop is gray water and gray sky, except that you can't see it through the steamy smudged windows.
Oh... and that football field sized pool (taken with special lenses at about 6" off the ground) is not much bigger than your Jacuzzi.

The same applies to Disney to a degree. The pools at Disney are AWESOME, but the pictures you see online don't do them justice. I'd like to see more of them.
Now I will admit, that there are a few pools at Disney that aren't all that great. But I'd still like to see pictures for comparison.
I need to check my pictures too. I forgot to.

What were your thoughts of Vero as far as price? We looked into it, but it seemed to us that by the time you pay for every single little extra thing, it would get very expensive fast. What did you think? Was it a good value?
Was all the extra stuff really that bad (price wise)? :confused3
It sure sounded fun if I wasn't concerned about the money.

Well, we went during value season, and we had a coupon for 20% off accomodations. We got the coupon out of the back of the Birnbaum's guide to WDW. So basically, it was like getting 1 night free. Honestly, we did not pay for any "extras" there was so much to do in the free activities that my family was interested in. Archery, unbirthday parties, treasure hunts, crafts, games by the pool, campfire at night. The staff was amazing with my family! Sept is a really uncrowded time to go, so we basically had our own personal activities planner! My kids also did face painting, and pin trading. We had a few times where we sat around and played music with some of the staff. It ws very relaxing and just enough activity to keep my kids occupied. There is a little mini golf course near the pool that you have to pay for, but our activities director gave us free passes! It was a truly wonderful place!

While this isn't exactly a swimming pool, it's one of my favorite Disney places to swim! This is Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line's private island in the Bahamas. Please pardon my rather ugly toes. The beach was this uncrowded all day (Nov. 2005).

Yes it is and if you take the boat from WL to FW or FW to MK you go right by it, close enough to see some of the structures sitting there doing nothing. It used to have animals on it, they were largely transferred to AK I believe?

This just tickles me, I NEVER have pics of myself at the pool or the beach (I am the one holding the camera), so at some point I ALWAYS take a pic of my "beach toes" or "pool toes" just so in 50 years when the kids look at the pics they will know that I was there.

Great pix, everyone! Question: How come I don't see any floaty things, such as water wings/arm floaties or innertubes? Are those verboten??? I hope not, because I can swim, but I much prefer to just lounge in the middle in a tube...

Also, any pictures of the Contemporary? Also, is there a pool at FW?

It is sort of greenish. It's supposed to look like swimming in a natural body of water, not a swimming pool. A few people have said that it has that sort of "crocodiles swimming in here. . . somewhere. . . look. :rotfl2:

Julie,

I am not sure if you can bring tubes into the pools. I know the kids can use swimmy's on their arms and life jackets, but I do not recall ever seeing any one on floats.

We saw the lifeguard take a float away from someone and let the air out of it at Pop last summer. You can have noodles and they had them there for everyone to share.

PS I see your from Winnipeg. I saw a show on VOOM tonight that was showing a black bear. The guy went on to explain that the original Winnie the Pooh was named after Winnipeg because Christopher Robin was fascinated with a bear he saw in Winnipeg (or something along those lines). Anyways, I've forgotten all the little facts he told, but the Winnie part being named after Winnipeg stuck.

That's true, we have a statue at our zoo of Lt. Harry Colebourn with his young bear cub that he named "Winnipeg" after his home town. He took the bear with him to England during WW1 and loaned him to the London Zoo when he went to France. According to reports, the bear was so well loved that Harry Colebourn decided to give him to the zoo. Christopher Robin Milne met "Winnie" there and the rest is history. :goodvibes

We could use some more good Contemporary pics. Also some more of the Hilton Head or Vero Beach. Also more of the water parks.
Theres been lots of pictures of the volcano pool, BUT if you look at all of them, they are all slightly different. Different angles, crowd levels, lighting, etc. It helps your mind see past a blank photo when you have different pictures of the same pool by different people's perspectives. You get a better feel for whether or not you'd like to swim at that resort's pool. (They all look good to me!)

So what pools are we missing now?

I know a few have been posted, but I was hoping for some more Hilton Head and Vero Beach pictures, and some more Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach as well.
I was hoping too to see some photos maybe someone caught when large groups of something interesting were maybe practicing in a specific pool. Like maybe a swim meet or such. We once caught a night with all the cheerleaders from the cheeroffs in one pool. They were throwing each other way up in the air, that was cool. Maybe just some really fun pictures of unusual people/ characters in the water or such.
Also some really weird angles and optical illusion type photos (like when people angle the camera to look like someone is walking on water, etc)

Just ideas. Also, if swimming is allowed in any of the beach areas or lakes (not sure; maybe not) that would be interesting. I had a lot bigger spectrum of this thread than just resorts. The moderators put it in resorts because it would get more attention there (and thats fine) but I was hoping for a lot more myself.:thumbsup2

So many pools, so little time. The Coronado Springs Resort pool is gorgeous...they all are.

I don't know if it is appropriate here but I too would like to see more Vero Beach and beach shots of Castaway Cay.

These were taken at the fountains at Epcot. Early June, 2003 - but I do not believe they have changed! DS just turned 4yo at the time.

We almost always stay at the POP. All these POP pictures have me counting the days even more so. We opened our pool at home this past weekend. Its still GREEN and CLOUDY, and nasty. Theres little piles of leaves on the bottom. It will be a couple more days before its clear and blue, so these nice clear blue pools look even better today after cleaning mine all weekend!!!

Oh yeah, i like the kiddie pool at night pictures!:yay: I remember one trip in January when the regular pools (everything BUT the kiddie pool) were not heated. They were ICE COLD!!! There was a few brave teenagers and kids, but only 5 or 6. I turned the corner to the steamy hot kiddie pool and saw about 15 adults!!! We all laid in the kiddie pool for hours talking, while the kids were all in the non-heated pools jumping around and shivering.

These were fenced off for refurbishment or removal (unsure) on our last trip. Does anyone know if they are still there? Have they changed?

Oh no!! I hope they have not changed!!!! Someone please post on this.

My son has just turned 9 and he still loves to get wet every chance he gets. Last summer we did not play in the fountains at Epcot but he took a "shower" in Animal Kingdom and he played in the water at Pooh's Playground and Donald's Boat - thank goodness we had a 3 year old friend with us. He could pretend that he was helping :rotfl2: his little friend. I have a picture of my tall skinny 8 year old surrounded by toddlers in Pooh's playground and it is too cute.

I really think Disney does a great job with putting water play stops around the parks so that the kids can cool off and decompress. They are all so cool. :cool2:

I just know that what you saw has to have been some form of refurbishment.

We really only swim at night. I don't like being out in the full sun for anything. (I'm a wimp, I know! LOL)
Besides, it's so relaxing after the hot days.
Love the kiddie pool! It's a lot less nerve wracking with the littles.
(We had 4 under six last trip!)

I had an opposite experience with the kiddie pool -- we were there in Aug. '05, and Katrina was going through the FL Keys before she turned and came back north east.
The weather had been great all day, never know there was a hurricane in the same state, but that night while we were in the kiddie pool, this weird wind came up that was icy. It was still 90 degrees out, but I was freezing in the kiddie pool. The big pools were fine, because you could be almost completely submerged.
That was some of the weirdest weather I've seen!

From the pictures it looks like there is at least one slide at the pool of the Caribbean Beach and AKL. Anyone know the age limit to go down this slide and if they allow arm floaties while going down it? Oh and also if they let a parent stand at the bottom of the slide, or how deep the water is at the bottom of the slide.

Thanks a bunch! As you can probably guess I have a 5 year old DD who is on the verge of swimming but I'm still not sure of how comfortable I am with it. :)

If you look at MOST of the pictures of this pool (even the ones here on this thread) You see this mysterious looking temple, the pool, and they seem to be kinda "alone in the jungle". Now, theres NOTHING wrong with that, and I like some of them a LOT, but THESE 2 pictures show the more "yeah, theres still a DISNEY CROWD" and theres STILL chairs and a "commercialized" side to the pool. :thumbsup2
Its just a different perspective when its taken by different people at different times from different spots!:thumbsup2 :goodvibes :goodvibes It helps show the whole picture, not just what the paid photographer is trying to show you.

I haven't stayed at either, so I wouldn't comment on that BUT I will say if temperatures are as hot where YOU are as they are HERE.... ANY pool will make them really happy!!! If I won a trip to WDW and it was as hot there as it is here (temps at 102 the day before yesterday) I'd skip the parks and just lay in the pool all day.:cool1: We've swam in our pool (its sparkling blue and clean now) all week!!!!
The reason I say "If I won a trip" is because thats the ONLY way I'd be there in these temperatures. I'd never pay to be there in this season.

I actually just saw something on the news about the temps where you're at! Thank goodness for swimming pools!:goodvibes

My family spent alot of time in that hot tub in May- no one was ever in there the week we were there.:goodvibes

Us too, it was always empty! :thumbsup2

My old preacher used to have a famous saying that sums it all up!
"You spend money you don't have, on things you don't need, to impress people you don't even like."

When I stopped doing that my finances changed.:thumbsup2

DH and I are working our way to Debt Free, Dave Ramsey style. Now that we live on a budget we can afford really nice vacations, clothing, eating out, etc... AND take GIANT chunks out of our debt each month. It actually feels like you spend MORE money and live more lavishly!

Learning to make your money work for you, instead of you work for your money is incredible.

I like your preacher's quote. Smart man. (or woman!)

Not only has it been super hot here for the past week- record breaking temps for at least 5 days in a row, but now this morning we woke up to the wonderful smell of forest fires, burning a good 2 hours away. It was just lovely. Too stinky to enjoy the pool today

I know this is :offtopic: , but on a trip back from WDW we drove through the big fires in FL. The smoke didn't look like smoke, it looked like a thick mist. It was so thick at times, that you couldn't tell if you were on the road or a bridge!!!
And if you KNEW you were on a bridge, you certainly couldn't see over the sides.
It was scary / exciting / amazing / sad (all the critters) / fun / and dangerous all in one. It certainly made for a shorter "seeming" trip home.

My vote is for Typhoon Lagoon. We bought the Water Parks & More option on our last trip and did get to go to both parks. Our entire family enjoyed Typhoon Lagoon, and particularly Crush 'N Gusher. Your DS9 dare devil will absolutely LOVE it!

My DS11 is our thrill seeker, and he actually enjoyed Blizzard Beach more. The slides are much taller and faster. I, however, thought that Crush 'n Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon was worth the price of admission alone.

This thread is great. I'm hunting for information to see if it's going to work to get my ds who is severely disabled into one of the pools at the All Star resorts. I was told that one of them are zero entry but can't find evidence of that. Someone else told me that there was a spot in one where there is a wheelchair seat height set of steps that you could then go down into the water on. But, in all the pictures I've looked at I can't see that. Any more close up pictures of any of the All Star resorts? We're staying at All Star Sports in Sept. and I'd love to get ds into the water. But if it's not going to work we just won't offer that as an option. Thanks,

Team Renfroe is how we refer to our family. Myself, DW, DS11, and DD8 comprise Team Renfroe. (This helps us to be reminded that we are all on the same TEAM!) Think Family Feud.

Then I shall count on you and your little pirates to provide me with many, many pictures to enjoy until we get to go back at Thanksgiving!

I have pictures from the cabin pool at Ft. Wilderness. I can't post them, but don't worry.

After you read the following, close your eyes and imagine a cement rectangle. Fill it with sparkling blue water. Surround the pool deck with a few loungers and tables. Do NOT add theming. Do not add a hot tub/spa.

There you have it. OTOH, the bathroom is lovely. By far the nicest public restroom I've ever seen. With tiles and murals and large open spaces. :confused3

The pictures have to be online first. Most people go grab a free photobucket account. (www.photobucket.com probably). Then you just upload them from your camera to your computer, and from your computer to your photobucket page. Photobucket then gives you 4 lines under each picture. One of those lines is your tag. Not sure which one. I always have to experiment a little with the preview button here on the DIS to figure out which string of code to use (copy/paste). It all sounds VERY complicated, but once you get it down pat, its a 30 second deal from the camera to the DIS forum.:thumbsup2 Photobucket can explain it all I'm sure.
maybe someone else can explain it better.:confused3

I don't disagree with this description, but I will point out that everyone I saw at the pool was having a great time. Here is a pic of my nephew, having lots of fun at the FW pool, in the rain!

I seem to remember reading that they plan to change that. Am I wrong? Aren't they going to totally redo the Fort Wilderness main pool and give it a new themed make-over and a slide? I hope so. We plan to buy a travel trailer in a few years and I'd love to camp at the Fort. A brand new themed pool would sure be nice :goodvibes

I gotta admit I always thought that was one of the more boring pools on property too. Fun probably, but not much decor.

Thanks,

I'm sorry that I can't help you out with an answer to your question but I at least wanted to recommend that you try out the DISabilities forum here on the DIS. The wonderful individuals who post there are super informative and friendly and I'm sure someone has information about this amenity if it does exist.

Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful trip to the World!

Thanks for your reply. It's the only one I"ve gotten. I have tried the Disabilities board and gotten no concrete information from them either. I'm just going to have to wait until I get there and then investigate.

Have you tried going to one of the FAQ's threads for the All Stars over on the resort boards?? Maybe they would know more about that!

Have you contacted Disney's special info line for Guests with Disabilities? Here's the number - (407) 939-7807. I would think they could answer your question about the special access steps.

This is the link the Guests with Disabilities section on the WDW website - http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/common/Plain?id=PlainHomePage#guidebook

I was digging around on the allearsnet.com site and found an article that listed the zero entry pools on property and, according to it, none are at any of the values.

I hope this info helps. I'm sorry that you are struggling with finding an answer. Goodl luck!

I don't have any pictures, but I'm pretty sure that neither FW pool has been updated yet. Ask on the camping board - the regulars there are sure to know.:)

I know that at All Star Music there is a Wheelchair entry in the Guitar Pool (at the end - where the tuning pegs would be). But not at the "quiet" piano pool. I know that when you stay at any of the All-Stars, you can pool hop at any of the pools there. (Sorry I don't have any pics)

In the concrete around the pool there were many 'drawings'.
