Have you contacted Disney's special info line for Guests with Disabilities? Here's the number - (407) 939-7807. I would think they could answer your question about the special access steps.

I was digging around on the allearsnet.com site and found an article that listed the zero entry pools on property and, according to it, none are at any of the values.

I hope this info helps. I'm sorry that you are struggling with finding an answer. Goodl luck!
There are no zero entry pools at the Value resorts.
I have not stayed at any of the AS resorts, but the information I have is that all the pools have a set of 'bump steps' (the actual name of them is a 'transfer tier', but 'bump steps' is more descriptive.
I have some pictures of bump steps, but had some trouble finding them. I was able to find one and I'll look for more. Here's a picture of the steps at one of the quiet pools at OKW.

This is looking at the steps straight from the back. The steps go down the side, just like a stairway.
They are most useful for someone who has good balance and good upper body strength.
The top step is the height of an average wheelchair seat. The person parks the wheelchair right next the top step, facing the water and then transfers from the wheelchair to sit on the top step. In this example, the wheelchair would be parked on the right side of the top step.
The silver handle on the left side of the step is for the person to use if they need it for support or to pull themselves onto the step. Once the are securely on the top step, the person bumps their butt down step by step until they are in the water.

Here are some pictures that we took at the Volcano Pool at the Poly in July 2008. Some were taken with our Canon Digital Rebel and others with a cheaper underwater digital camera. That underwater camera was the best investment we made for our trip!

I'm not the OP but we have an Olympus Stylus 790 SW...it takes pretty good underwater pics IMO.

We bought ours at Meijer. It cost $99, but was well worth it. It has expandable memory and holds many, many pictures.By the time you buy the disposable camera and pay to have the pictures developed, it makes the digital one well worth it. It also takes video and we have awesome video of us going down slides. They have a similar one at Wal-Mart that lists for $56,but it doesn't take video. The Meijer one was their personal brand name, I think GSX. The Wal-Mart one was Vivitar. It held up well in the water and never did leak. The case can be removed and then used as a regular digital camera. I highly reccmmend it!

I'll be bumping this thread to keep it alive till my next trip. I plan to get lots of pictures of the watering spots in the parks!:thumbsup2
I want pictures of ANYTHING in Disney that involves water (where you get wet) so I'll be taking pictures of the wet rides, the mist areas, and more pool pictures of course.:goodvibes
Oh yeah, I meant to ask... didn't I read somewhere that you can swim in the lake near the POP? Not that I'd want to... (I've never been a lake person...) but I could have sworn I read that somewhere. maybe I dreamed it...:rolleyes1 I have strange dreams...

I was looking at those pictures thinking "This makes me want to switch from the POP to the All Stars!!!" Then it occurred to me that the last 2 times we stayed there it was under refurb. Looks like they did a spectacular job!!!

ASMu was very nice. It is smaller than POP and I didn't think the pools were as crowded. The piano pool was vacant during the day time in summer. I like All Stars - great theming. I like POP, too.

Thanks, we were fortunate enough to reserve a 14th floor room at the Contemporary... it was such a great view, we didn't even mind not having a MK view. This was taken in the early morning when everything was still pretty quiet. The cruise was part of the same vacation - we treated ourselves for our 15th anniversary (too bad we can't live like that all the time :cloud9: )

It's a great picture!! Yes, I wish I could just take off and go somewhere whenever I wanted to and do it Disney Style. DH and I plan to take a cruise for our 40th, which will be our first cruise. It's a couple of years away, but I'm so excited!

I had promised lots of pictures, but on our last trip the weirdest thing happened. I took the new hard drive camcorder instead of the camera. I made a special trip out to get a picture memory card, and I *THOUGHT* I was taking pictures. I wasn't. I got home and still had a blank memory card. I had lots of pool pics and food pictures for the food thread, and none of them were recorded. I still have no idea what went wrong. It appeared I was taking pictures. My camcorder is almost new, and it has amazing digital optical and digital zoom. Hey, I can't be an expert in everything, and this proves it.:confused3
We're going to work on it some more and see if we can't figure it out before we go again in a few weeks.

Yeah, I can never understand why it is that POR can sleep 5 but CBR can't and CBR has bigger rooms (bigger than any of the moderates at 340 sq ft vs. 314 sq ft). . . :confused3

Obviously, Storm Along Bay would be #1, but after that...:confused3

ALSO REMEMBER: When I started this thread I was looking for more than just resort photos!!!! The moderators moved it here to the resorts board, but I'm after ANY POOL ANYWHERE on Disney grounds or on any Disney ship!!!
I'm also after pictures of swim meets, conventions, silly photos, YOUR FAVORITE Disney water pictures, and any other Disney "body of water" pictures you might have.
I'm also after pictures of since retired swimming pools and LAKES on Disney property (IE River Country... Anyone have any vintage or current photos?), and current lakes and pools that swimming isn't allowed in!!!

I'd say call 407-W-Disney and ask them. They should know for sure. I'm not really sure to be honest. I'm thinking there was some rule at the Pop about floats and inner tubes, but for the life of me I can't remember it. I do know its more fun when the pool is packed with fun loving people and lots of pool toys! We've been there when we had a blast, and other times when it was just boring and there was no sign of any pool toys. One of my favorite pool activities is just asking if we can join in on a game of pool ball! (Rules are simple: Just keep it from hitting the water!):thumbsup2

I love this thread. And I don't even like to swim.
Do the eyes on the clown really glow at night? I seriously think the pool would keep me from ever staying at the Boardwalk. I attribute it to being from the "Poltergeist" generation - my sister collected clowns as a kid and that movie had me terrified one would come to life and try to kill me.

From the pictures it looks like there is at least one slide at the pool of the Caribbean Beach and AKL. Anyone know the age limit to go down this slide and if they allow arm floaties while going down it? Oh and also if they let a parent stand at the bottom of the slide, or how deep the water is at the bottom of the slide.

Thanks a bunch! As you can probably guess I have a 5 year old DD who is on the verge of swimming but I'm still not sure of how comfortable I am with it. :)

My DS4(at the time) and DD (2 at the time) went down the slide at AKL so many times I lost count...there lots of little ones, usually with dad going after, up top coming down with the life jackets they provide....and lots of moms and dads taking turns standing there to catch them. The life guards just laughed at my tiny 2 year old...she may be tiny but she's fearless!

My father knew someone that was related to someone that worked for Disney/built/something like that. So they got us 2 rooms at the Polynesian & I know we stayed at the Golf Resort too. It was early morning, probably around 7 30, we were there in May. Actually it wasn t as crowded as I thought that it was gonna be during our stay. This was a first time for us at the Yacht Club and of course we loved it! Will be back there Nov.27 for a one night pre cruise, maybe I will see that same duck!:thumbsup2

First, I just have to mention the amazing full figure hidden Mickey cloud in this picture posted on pg 18! Anybody else see it?

Bowling Pin Pool in the 50's - which had much warmer water than the main pool the time I was there. I swam in here for about an hour on November 10 as a heavy rain shower affected MVMCP. Decided to head back to the resort at around 8 pm and go swim in the pool. I was the only one and didn't feel cold at all - at least not until I got out of the water...

I actually thought that at night this place really looked spectacular - it was very well lit and really very atmospheric (in keeping with the African Savannah theming).

Great pic!

Love the courtyard pool. When we honeymooned there back in 1991 that was the only pool they had. We have such great memories of swimming there that when we go back we only use the courtyard pool. Just not big fans of the other one. No memories for us there!!
