5.4 magnitude earthquake hits Midwest felt for thousand of miles. Oh my are you okay! I lived in Cinncy when we had one it was the freakist thing dont know how those who live in earthquake zones do it.

Was pretty strong in our little corner of the world. Epicenter is not too far from us, maybe 100 miles? Not sure, but not far. Our news was live with camera pointed out the window this morning at 4:37 a.m. when earthquake happened. Woke me up and I immediately turned on TV. It's all they talked about for the next 2 and a half hours when I had to leave the house. It was a pretty big deal here. Freaked my dogs out too. I have been through many earthquakes of this magnitude. None over 6 point something though.

ETA: we are onlly 30 or 35 miles from the epicenter. I have such a bad sense of distance or direction.

I just talked to my sister and she said it woke her out of a dead sleep and her hairspray bottle was teetering around on her dresser and the water in her glass was swishing around.
It freaked her out.

We just moved back here after 20 years and since June we've had the drought, a blizzard, a flood, and now an earthquake. :scared1: Just as long as they are not tornados I am fine.

I actually live in Southern IL about 25 miles from the epicenter. I thought we were having a tornado when it first woke us up this morning! Somehow, my DD4 and DD1 both slept through it. We had an aftershock that registered 4.5 about 10:15 this morning, and that one was a pretty good shake as well!

Sorry, tornado season is just about to start. depending on where you are, chances are really good you'll get atleast one. :guilty: Sorry. Hopefully you didn't have any damage from the flood, and if a tornado does turn up, it bypasses you!!

It woke me up because the shaking turned on our CD player with a book in it. It was a deep male voice talking about The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader--freaked out doesn't even begin to describe how I felt! :eek:

I am very relieved that the kids didn't wake for the excitement, but DH was out of town and I called and woke him to tell him how scared I was! :eek: :eek:

I have lived in IL 30+ years and have NEVER felt an earthquake-they have happened but I haven't felt them. It was creepy to wake and think the world was ending! Felt the aftershocks around 10ish this morning too and it makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it!:scared1:

We survived a tornado that ripped through my hometown when I was in Jr. High, killing 13 people and I don't remember being as freaked out as I was this morning. Maybe because I am old enough now to know I am not indestructable!:sad2:

We felt it here in Louisville. My dd slept through the morning one. I was the only one to feel it at 11:15 this afternoon. We thought maybe it was a huge windstorm or a big truck going by our major road we live on when we felt it shake the house this morning. :laughing:

Did you feel the one Sunday night/Monday morning 12:40 here, would have been 1:40 a.m. there, I think? It was stronger but short. It's strange to have this many aftershocks. They are saying we could get aftershocks for a month or two. :scared1: Very strange.
