here is some snow left in the coastal mountains. It is extremely rare for these Mountains to get any snow, but this late in the year it is really unusual. Maybe once before in my lifetime.

Kathy,

It looks like it was a gorgeous day to go to the beach!! Love the pictures!

Which beach did you go to?

We were on the Oregon coast about 8 months ago for last years vacation.

We stayed a few days at Depot Bay and Gleneden Beach. We took the kids to the Newport aquarium and then headed up to Cannon Beach and Seaside where we stayed for a week.

We stopped at the Tillamook factory on the way! :thumbsup2

The Tillamook cheese factory. This is ahuge place with a free tour and sample and they also sell and make ice cream, pepperoni sticks as well as cheese and other dairy products and a large gift shop. We have been here many times. Greg bought a bunch of pepperoni sticks while I watched the dogs.

This is the only distance shot I got efore dropping the camera. You can see how the hills come right up to the ocean.

Hopefully next time I will be able to get alot of the drop offs and cliffs, devils churn and sea lions and walrus sunning themselves on the rocks there.

we spent the day just past the cheese factory about 15 minutes drive at Barview. It is a tiny place and they have Barview county park and you can drive through the campground and go right ot the beach.

My son Peter is living at Depot Bay right on the main road with an ocean view and he works at Lincoln city.

we love Seaside but it is way too crowded for the dogs.
The aquarium at Newport we have been too many times.
The underseas gardens and wax museum are also well worth seeing. Just a little south of that is the largest dune area on the west coast, it is really a great place to camp and hike the dunes, ride dune buggies or horse back ride through the dunes. w elike to take the ATV's there too in designated areas.

it was 78 degrees and NO wind, perfect day.

Next time your out that way, so a little farther south from Nreport to Florence and just 10 minutes south of it are the dunes and camping and recreation areas. You'll love it.

We'll have to go check out the dunes the next time we go.

We really enjoyed Depot Bay and Seaside. I think the only thing that would make it even better is if the water was warm enough to swim in! :lmao:

Chayce and I tried to swim at Seaside and that water is freezing!!! I think they said it was 44 degrees and this was the middle of August!! :scared1:

So Peter is living in Depot Bay? I'm jeolous!

I told my wife when we were there that I wanted to live in Depot Bay with an ocean view!!

We ate at the "Sea Hag" on main street in Depot Bay...really good seafood! :thumbsup2

Good Morning All:

Another day and another thread begun. Yah

I am currently loading the pictures from this weekend. Its taking forever because I still have some pictures from the last cruise on the camera. Its that fear of deleting pictures. I deleted 2 days of pictures from the very first cruise we ever took. It tends to leave people a little gun shy.

All is good here, its in the 50's today and suppose to be in the 70's by Wednesday. We will SO take it.

I will check in later, its Monday and I have to actually do some work.

Yes, we did this last year and it was a lot of fun. We don't even have kids and we enjoyed it. Someone will keep a list of all the people and room #'s that are participating in it and mail it out right before we leave.

I didn't have a fish extender since there is no way I could make one. We used Christmas stockings:

Other carriers expected to follow suit or pursue talks are:

United & Continental
American & Jet Blue
Southwest & Airtran

I'm afraid that if all these mergers were to happen and oil prices remain above $100 a barrel, the days of the "discount airlines" and super cheap airfare may be coming to an end!! :scared1:

On a more positive note.......did anyone know there is a space shuttle launch scheduled from Cape Canaveral on Dec. 4? I am so hoping that it gets delayed until sometime between Dec. 6-13 after the ship gets back!!!! :)

Good night everyone.

Hey 07 Nana Heads ... FYI, Judy is sick and in the hospital with dehydration and other fun stuff. She blew her knee out again at the World over the last week too. Just wanted you to know in case you wanted to send Nana hugs

Oh dear.... why is she so dehydrated??? Did that happen at Disney World?

Wow, that fish extender is GORGEOUS! LOVE the colors. I have my gifts all planned, need only acquire the materials and make 'em. With two cruises to go this year both needing FE gifts, I'll be busy for a while!

Here's a little photo for you.

Good Morning All:

Denise you are correct, Tablerock is about 15 miles from Rockaway Beach. My mother went down there and their lakefront road is under water. They are suppose to close the dam today, so hopefully some people can go back to their houses.

I'm up early, I just got off the treadmill. I have been feeling like crap and thought if I would get up off my butt and workout I would feel better. I've felt great since I started and have dropped 3 pounds (I won't tell you how much I had gone up). So its all a good thing.

Trey and I both have game to work this evening. Hopefully more cruise money.

May everyone have a great day and I will check in later.

Good morning Nana Nation. I'm way behind on my day already because you guys have been so chatty.

Things went well at school yesterday, so keep your fingers crossed.

Shell: I hope you guys have a wonderful time. Just remember while you're lying there by the pool that I could have been there with you supplying you with tequila...............you're welcom. Just a little extra guilt before you leave.

Wendy: Was going to try to get there the days you were going but SW flight prices went up. I didn't get tix in time. Could have flown to DL of $220 RT but we leave for WDW on May 9th and that just seemed greedy.

Christine: We are planning a trip to DL in August. I'll keep you posted. It will probably be the week before school starts.

Dawn: Tell Skylar Jacob is sorry he didn't get back to him last night. He had a project due today that he let drag on.

Greg: I hear you're a Playgirl model too. You do have nice legs. Not as nice as Mutt's of course..........

It's been cold the last few days but I have a few roses ready to open. I hope they'll make it.

I'll pick up a card for Judy today. That's terrible. I hope they managed to have fun though.

Is it time for Gatlinburg yet? I'm ready.

Jacob's play is tonight. He seems to be doing alright.

Well, I'm off to the races............

BTW: Welcome to the new family. I have looked at the cruisemate list and it's shaping up to be a great bunch.

Tonya: Loved the picture. I'll show Jacob. Was there a dam in the picture with Trey? Gee.....I didn't notice.

After I dropped Christian off, I went to grocery store. Watched Elizabeth while her mother went to the grocery store. Now :laundy: and sewing! This will be a busy day so if I don't get back to later...Skylar has guitar at 5, soccer at 6 - 7:30, Christian has baseball at 5:30 - 7. At least they are at staggered times! :cool1: What would I do without my boys! Oh, wait we got to fit homework in there too!

:lovestruc Our favorite! Skylar says they have the best sushi. Christian loves their chicken and the white rice. My and Skylar's favorite used to be the lobster--which they don't have anymore. So, I still go for the steak but I think my favorite is the grilled vegetables with the white rice. I eat two bowls full. So next time, I think I'm going to see if I can get just that!

So yesterday my DH Ed got some bad news. :sad1: He is a big San Fransico 49ers fan and has been waiting for years now for the 49ers to come and play the Bills in Buffalo. Well, they released the schedule and guess the date for the game... 11-30. Danielle's husband is a big Bills fan so it would have been an interesting day.

No luck with job searches yet. We have 2 casinos here too and they are slimming down their employees and shortening up hours too. I have a friend who works there.
Many people are out of work so they cant afford to go gambling, I do believe it will get a lot worse before it gets better. another couple of years before building industry starts coming back again:sad2:
It goes in cycles like this all the time. we have been through this twice before and I'm sure it will happen to us again. Just the downside to being in construction i guess.

Lorna, Where did I miss that the kids didn't go? Good for you!

Pretty day here too. Got the flower beds around the house in front raked out. Legs were killing me so I thought I'd sit in the sun and relax for 45 minutes. Set the timer and sat down to enjoy my book. The phone rang and I went to get it and it was 1 hour and 45 minutes later! But I have to say that sun felt sooooo good! :rotfl:

Greg-I noticed the space shuttle was launching on the 4th. I think we will be at sea that day. Do you think we could see it? It would be cool if it got delayed until Saturday, so we could see it when we get back into port.

Hi Lorna,

If it launches on the 4th we'll be to far away to see it. I'm just hoping and praying it gets delayed until the 6th!! :woohoo:

I hope everything is ok with your test results! That would be scary! Our prayers are with you.

I don't even want to talk about the weather. I can't believe we got 6 inches of snow yesterday?! :scared1: :sad2:

If it wasn't for the fact that my wife and I have tickets to see the Smothers Brothers this Saturday I'd buy plane tickets to Las Vegas and spend the weekend there!

Well, after much reading, I think I am somewhat caught up. Let's see:

Tonya is Wendy's girlfriend. Terri is jealous of the new relationship. Lorna tried to lose the kids, but they found their way back home. Greg wants to smother his brother's wife and then fly to Vegas!:confused3 It takes Dawn 1 hour 45 minutes to answer the phone when she is reading a book out side (must be a long trip inside the house). Denise is going postal on her friend Sue. Danielle and Sherri and their families have no clue what they have gotten their self in to with the Nanas. And, last but not least, Kathy is roasting her swollen ankles before dinner tonight!

Did that get it?

MY PRIVATE PART DIED

An old man, Mr. Wallace, was living in a nursing home.

One day he appeared to be very sad and depressed.

Nurse Tracy asked him if there was anything wrong,

'Yes, Nurse Tracy,' said Mr. Wallace.

'My Private Part died today, and I am very sad.'

Knowing her patients were a little forgetful and
sometimes a little crazy, she replied, 'Oh, I'm so sorry,
Mr. Wallace. Please accept my condolences.'

The following day, Mr. Wallace was walking down the
hall with his Private Part hanging out of his pajamas.

He met Nurse Tracy. 'Mr. Wallace,' she said, 'You
shouldn't be walking down the hall like that.
Please put your Private Part back inside your
pajamas.'

'But, Nurse Tracy I can't,' replied Mr. Wallace. 'I
told you yesterday that my Private Part died.

'Yes,' said Nurse Tracy, 'you did tell me that, but
why is it hanging out of your pajamas?'

'Well,' he replied, 'Today is the viewing.'

Good morning Nanas.

Jacob's play was a great success. We had two rows full of family and when they called his name we screamed and shouted. It's funny you guys mentioned all your "relatives" you could me in touch with. Both of my brothers are Longshoremen and they had some guys in from NY this week. They sure were asking alot of questions:rolleyes1

Yesterday DS had a field trip to Jamestowne. We had just gone as a family but there was no way I was putting him on a bus that long without me, so I went along. It was a beautiful day and we didn't have any trouble with the girls. That place is really cool. They have an ongoing dig site there and you can go and just hang out and watch for them to pull stuff up. One of the kids actually found a picece of metal and asked our tour guide if he knew what it was. He said he would ask one of the archaeologists. Come to find out it was a piece of rolled lead that they used to make shot. 400 year old artifact picked up by 10 year old kid. Pretty exciting.

So, are we going to make all our plans for the cruise while Shell is gone? That would teach her........................

Dawn: Jacob has been on restriction from the computer for dragging his feet on his writing assignment. He'll be allowed back on today AFTER he gets his homework done and I will have him call Skylar. So nice for him to call and see how his play had gone. If only you guys and Hunter lived the closer..................we really need that Nana commune.

Kathy, lots of :pixiedust: for you and your family. While being unemployed is fun for a while, its not for the long term.

Lorna, good luck on the mammogram. We will be thinking about you.

Anyone heard from Woo. I'm kinda hurt she hasn't called me yet. She is probably attempting to drink herself through EPCOT. I hope she makes it. If you read this, they have that Wine that you like in Italy and for less than what we get it for on the boat.

Evening all,
well it warmed up just enough to give the dogs a bath late this afternoon. It had been about 6 weeks since they had one, boy do they smell better now:goodvibes

we have a shower hose attachment for the outside of the motorhome that we can connect to the hot water tank so they had nice warm baths.
Then a long walk and romp in a field near by, now they are sleeping.

Tomorrow I visit with a life long girlfriend in town. We are meeting at the mall and will find a nice warm bench to sit on and visit for a few hours.

Tomorrow night the COLD weather will set in with possibility of snow!!
Who ever sent it our way, please take it back!!

Have a great evening everyone,

Kathy

What's up for the weekend folks? We may go to the Auto Show as Mina is in the market for a new vehicle so it's a great place to look at lots o stuff. Tomorrow Emily has dance at 10, Elizabeth has a soccer game at 11 and dance at 1:30..then we are heading into the city for Pitt's annual Blue/Gold Spring football game since it's supposed to be a great day in the 'burgh. Sunday is Palm Sunday for the Orthodox faith - yes we haven't had Easter yet and it's almost May. I think that's all we have planned. But now that I have thought about it I'm tired.

Actually they have gone up from when we booked just a few months ago. Our category (8) went up by more than $1,200 from when we first booked.

Yet there still seem to be a lot of cabins available. You'd think they'd have kept the prices down a bit until they were closer to capacity...

It is really nice to have the inside of the van CLEAN again. All it's had since last November was some dusting and quick vacuums. It really, really needed a good cleaning! Next, I'll have to start on the outside, getting the tar off and such and then waxing. I'm too frugal to pay someone else to do it ;) .

Jeff, If you're paying, I'll have to take my daughter and granddaughter too! :lmao: We'll be at WDW starting 8/9. So, that will be 5 of us! A suite will do just fine, thank you! :rotfl:

Hi Everybody!
We got home from our long trip Tuesday night and have been running ever since . . . we leave again on Tuesday and 6 days at home was NOT good planning on my part. Either we should have just stayed gone, or been home for a couple weeks in between.

Lynn, sorry I missed your birthday! When are you going to add the baby to your signature line? She'll be traumatized by being left out. It's hard to believe Drew is almost two!

Kathy, glad to hear you had such a great visit with your friend! We stayed with one of my childhood friends on our recent trip, and it was grand - picked up right where we left off, a couple decades ago! Bet your throat is tired tonight, though, from so much talking, lol.

Denise, sure is a tough time to sell a house, isn't it? The townhomes in our neighborhood, that used to sell before the sign went up - now we have had three on the market for about 6 months. Hope it works out for you guys soon.

Shell & Bill - hope you have a great time in the world! We'll miss you at Corky & Lennie's next week!

Jan and Dave aren't going this cruise? TOO BAD! They were so fun - we ran into them alot too.

Did a little yard work today - the weather was gorgeous - and B. washed the van. It hadn't had a bath since Hilton Head, over a month ago. Then my girlfriends came in to scrap - well more to talk, but I did get a few pages done. We had chicken and rice for dinner.

Happy Saturday, Everyone!

well oneof my brothers and his wife are coming to visit this afternoon and my oldest daughter will also be coming this afternoon. guess we will have plenty of bodies here to keep us warm .

No dusting of snow, just a few flakes in the rain showers so far. although a few miles from here they did get a good dusting of snow last night.

They say our biggest chance of a good snow shower will be much later today.
