Need some help with Generator - Onan Emerald 1 Genset

We're having some problems getting our Generator to start. It turns over, but that's it. It's an Onan Emerald 1 Genset. I was just wondering if any of you are knowledgeable about this and have any suggestions for us to try. I was hoping we could figure it out ourselves, but if not, we'll just have to take it to be repaired. Thanks you guys!

Diesel or gas ?

I would check fuel filters and or maintenance items first.

It needs 3 things to run, fuel, air and spark.

Remove air filter and spray some starting fluid in the carb intake, if it runs you have a fuel supply problem.

Get a cheap spark tester at the auto parts store and check for spark if no spark check

1 oil level

2 change spark plug

3 check your grounds

Diesel or Gas??? Big difference in troubleshooting it. Have you started and run it under load for 30+ minutes every 30 days or so?

I can tell you this. We just pulled MH out of 6 months of storage this past weekend. I had done plugs, air filter, and oil/filter change last season. Gas tank was filled with Stabil prior to storage, and was full.

I had to crank the generator for quite some time before it would fire. You may want to try some carb cleaner and see if you can at least get it to cough.

I just wanted to thank you all for the suggestions!! I've been crazy busy lately but tomorrow after work I'm going to try to get the Generator running! I'll let you know how it goes!!
