Hello Everyone.. WOW quite week here... :goodvibes Where did everyone go??? Oh yeah. you all went to WDW!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We are back from KAREN's and had a great time. Its good to have DANIEL home again.. of course. :goodvibes

We went to Virginia Beach for the past 3 days and boy are we dark.. I think darker than the cruise... :teeth: Jaclyn was in her glory,... it was the NATIONAL LIFEGUARD ASSOCIATION swim competion for the 3 days we were there...On FRIDAY however.. we got to the beach at 945AM.. at 950 or so a wave crashed over me and and ripped my right knee out. :guilty: I head it snap and tear.. The life guard came over to me and tried to help me up and then another wave wiped me out back ward again... Of course I was riding a "BOOGIE BOARD" when it happened... Who said you cant be a cool 40 something mom!!!!...

We stayed there and I tolerated the pain the day..but at night.. OOCHHHH!!!
So ANDY... when your done with your chair and ice.. can I borrow it!!!! My ankle is so swollen,.. I have KANKLES,,lol :rotfl:

LYNN so glad to see BOB has a date.. perhaps this can persuade you to still come with us one last time.. HINT HINT HINT.... :grouphug:

DARLENE.. you are so sweet.. you need this vacation..
I hope the 3 of you have a grand time and I am so glad SANDY'S tests were negative...

TERRY.. keep the count down going... JACLYN was going to call CRAIG from the ocean, and let him hear the waves crash.. but didnt want to be mean..The waves were vicious this week. We saw the surfers and then saw our lives pass before us..lol :smooth: One minute we were in waste deep water...next thing we were tready in 10 ft of water...with white caps...
It was great..

DORI.. hey. you think you can get some excitement in your life. Its to boring!! :hyper2: I cant beleive your brother would do that to your own mother!!! Good thing he is gone.. Did you ever get the ring back though???

Ok off to get JACLYN to work... and we have a family reunion today... HAve a great day everyone.. :wave2:

Doreen--I felt your pain as you were expalining what happened, ouch indeed child!!! Take care of that knee and ankle!!!

I have the house all to myself for a few hours. Angelina spent the night at a friends house and Hazel just left for church, then has a Bridal Shower to attend this afternoon. I just finished getting all the bills paid for the rest of the month as I finally started receiving my WC checks. What a hassle those people have been, last time I was on WC I didn't have any problems, I don't know what happened this time around, and it's the same insurance company, go figure. At least it is now resolved, and the checks have started coming in!!!

I think after I finish checking some more messages, I'm going to pop a DVD into my laptop, and rest up for PT tomorrow. :rotfl:

Doreen -

No, we never recovered Mom's ring. I'm just glad that she is finally starting to see him for what he really is. Now you guys can understand why I was so upset about her letting him camp out in the pasture next to the barn in the first place. I had been holding my breath since he arrived, just waiting for something like this to happen and unfortunately, I wasn't disappointed. But I'm not as upset about the ring as I am about the drugs. He was only hurting my Mom with the ring, but the other was affecting multiple families. (I was worried about having my property confiscated too. Since they had to come down my driveway and cross my property to get out to the barn, there was a chance that I could have been implicated as well. So much for 'brotherly love', huh?)

The one good thing that has come out of all this has been some long, deep discussions with Devin about drugs, honesty, integrity, work ethics, etc. (Yes, Devin knows about everything that has happened.) As his godfather (George) pointed out to me one time, "A bad example is still an example". (He should know, he's got a sister that is just like my brother.) I'm pleased to say that Devin is totally offended and disgusted by the whole thing. He's such a good kid! I only hope that it continues as he becomes an older teenager.

Well, I totally blew off the domestic scene and shopping to relax yesterday, so I better get off my butt and start getting something productive done.

Take care everyone!

DORI!!!! My gosh, you have had a time of it. I kept wondering where you were but knew you would check in when you had time. Family can be trying at times. Glad your mom is ok and your brother didn't cause any more trouble than he did. And that was enough. Devin is a smart kid, I think you were right not to shelter him from what happened. You're a good mom.

DOREEN I did some awesome boogey boarding myself this summer. Glad you had fun, sorry you got hurt. Being in your 40's isn't sooo old when you are having fun...but it sure hurts more! Take care.

Now...back to packing! I have stuff all over my bed and suitcases waiting to be filled. Thank goodness Stan packs himself, but right now he is in my way. My goal was to be packed by today. The problem is I still have to have something to wear Mon, Tues, Wed and travel day. And I am packing for 18 days! I don't have that many clothes. I do plan to wash but don't want to spend that much time at the laundry room. Plus there are all the airline restrictions to deal with for weight and size of luggage. OK, I got that out, now back to packing.

Hi everyone,

I am definitely in the vacation mode but can't seem to get packing yet.

Anyway, in addition to blocking rooms for our group (rates are guaranteed not to go up) and I also making arrangements with a limosine company for our group for anyone that wants to take a limo from the airport to the Radisson. I was also thinking if some of us are getting to the airport around the same time, we could share a limo so we can all save money that way too.

Okay everyone, let's party.

Hello Everyone ! :wave2:

Dori: So nice to see you back on the boards posting again. Sorry about your brother. I believe everything in life happens for a reason even if we aren't meant to know what that reason is. Sounds like this experience has brought you and Devin a little bit closer. Which sometimes can be hard with a teenager.

Doreen: All my best to you and Marty. Did you still want to get together on the 28th?

Lyn: That is an awesome picture ! :goodvibes Something to think about when we go there next year. I have always heard of that place but never went because we had the kids with us and we were busy doing other things. So does the frog legs really taste like chicken? :rotfl2: Good luck to finally getting some closure this November.

Andy: How's the knee? Still taking turns with the ice and warm method? Did you give someone your cell number so we can call you on the 19th?

Bev: Are you all packed yet? What are you waiting for? :rotfl2:

Terry: Just wanted to say "Hi" How are things at your end?

I will be posting some more patio pictures later today.......

Just arrived home from PT and I was given two more exercises to do this morning. More of the swelling has gone down and I'm starting to walk better. Yes, I'm still switching between ice and heat.

I have Ed's and Bev's cell phone numbers, and they have my number. So, one way or another, I will be in touch on Friday evening.

You can see where the landscaping will be going and the entrance to the patio will be.

The patio itself is pretty much done. We still have to do behind deck where the meter's are. Sure Andy can relate to that.

Notice my water fountain came in, and the patio really needs to be cleaned up a bit now.
I will have more tomorrow as I have been working hard on the landscaping today. All the timbers are in now ! Yeah :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hi everyone :wave2:

It was a busy but fun weekend :) Last evening Craig had a bunch of his buddies over for a party. One of his friends is moving to Florida TODAY, so they had a going away party for him. They asked me to write "Good Riddance, Mike!" on the cake, so I did. :teeth: Hey, what do you expect from a group of 17-18 year old boys?? lol

Dori: So good to hear from you! I'm so glad you had fun in California. And relieved to hear that your brother is finally gone. Sorry you had to endure all those problems while he was there though.

Lyn: I LOVE the picture in your signature! You can just tell how much fun you all were having  I'm really going to miss you next year on the cruise.

Doreen: *ouch* I'm sorry about your knee! :( But I'm glad you had a good time at the beach anyway, and a good visit with Karen :) It's funny that you mentioned Jaclyn thinking of calling Craig because just yesterday John and I asked Craig if he's spoken to Jaclyn lately. I guess they've both been busy enjoying their summers! :sunny: But I know they'll have fun on the cruise, along with all the kids, next year!

Andy: I'm glad that the PT is coming along. Hang in there.

Darlene: I hope you all have the most wonderful vacation. You more than deserve it! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back! :grouphug:

Bev: What limo company are you dealing with? What are the rates for a stretch limo?? John always insists on a stretch limo when we're on vacation and so far we've used Tiffanry Towncar with no problems. But we're open to suggestions! :)

Tina: The patio is looking great! Your hard work is really paying off! :)

To all of the Mini Meeters: Have a wonderful time Friday night! I would love to talk to all of you, Bev you have my # right?? :teeth:

Hi Guys

Well the nerves are kicking in good and fast now, I am always like this before I fly, Vicki just takes it like a pinch of salt, me I have un upset tummy for about 3 days lol. :rotfl2:

I have packed and repacked and I am sure will repack once more just for luck, I thought I may have too many tops and tshirts so I took them all out tonight just to see. I am ashamed to say that there were about 50 tops in there, so anything with a duplicate colour has got left behind, so Im down now to a more respectable 20 tops. I always take far too many. :flower:

Really looking forward to seeing a lot of you on Friday. The boards have been so quiet this week. I cant quite beleive on Thursday I start my day at 5.00am in the morning, my flight is at 8.30 and I land in Sanford at 12.50 lunchtime, that is going to seem like one very very long morning lol.

I am looking forward to the flight as nervous as I am because of my primeum seating, extra large seats, free drinks, seatback entertainment units, extra luggage allowence and first to board and deboard if theres such a word lol. For a flight as long as this 91/2 hours I am sure it will be worth the extra.

Had a right old day today, my best friend and her family left Cardiff this morning to travel to London to catch a flight to Bermuda for 2 weeks, I had a phone call off her at 9.30 this morning to say that they had left all of their travellers checks at home in a safe place.(too safe I guess). I then had to find the cheques, contact Visa to tell them what had happened and see if they could cancel them and supply them new ones at the airport, but she had pre warned me that I would have to pretend to be her mother(a bit hard shes only a year younger than me) anyway at one stage the guy at Visa had the three of us conected on one call, her at the airport, me at her house and the visa guy at his office, it was so funny because I kept referring to her by her name and she kept saying, yes thats right mum, lol. I'de aged by about 30 years after the phone call which took just over an hour, when my friend then hung up, the guy at visa told me to stay on the line and let me know what to do. At the end of the conversation he said "Kids eh! I bet you told her to make sure she had all her money before she went did'nt you mum". Oh yes I replied. Still we got it sorted in the end and she is picking up her new travellers cheques tomorrow in Bermuda. :Pinkbounc

Oh well thats it for today, I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.
Tina your patio is looking lovely, hows the packing going, bet you dont need 50 tops eh! :rotfl:

Tina--the patio is looking very nice, looks like you worked hard on it today.

"Mum"--that was a funny story about the travelers checks, I bet you didn't knew you aged so well!!!!! :rotfl2:

I had my "first" big test this afternoon. I took Hazel and Angelina to Applebee's for dinner, the stopped at Best Buy and Target as Angelina was looking for an adapter for her iPod. We were gone a little over two hours, but boy was my knee aching when we got home. I have me knee on ice right now. Both Best Buy and Target were sold out of the adapters, but when we got home I had Hazel call Radio Shack and they had what Angelina needed, so Hazel went and picked it up. Now I have a happy teenager in the house again!!!!!

I did pick the DVD "The Incredibles" up while we were at Target. Hazel and I saw it during our cruise this past January, but Angelina hasn't seen it yet. That will be the next movie we watch during "Walters' Night at the Movies" on Wednesday night.

John surprised me last night with a trip to Disney World this fall!!  Just he and I this time, leaving the kids home. :teeth:

If you look down, you'll see that I've added a new countdown timer! We'll be staying at Pop Century. So those of you who are staying there soon, please take pictures! We've reserved a room in a preferred location which is the 60's section. This is due to my rheumatoid arthritis, and it also puts us closer to the food court which is good for John's diabetes. He needs to have access to food before bed and also first thing in the morning.

I know that the Pop Century will be a huge change from our last few resorts but I am actually looking forward to it! :flower: It'll give me the chance to check out, report on, and take pictures of, another type of Disney resort, and add to my web site. Also, since we do have OUR cruise next summer and Craig's graduation and party, and then college right after the cruise, not to mention the fact that we just got back from a fairly expensive Disney vacation, we are doing this one budget as much as we can! Hey, I am an expert Disney planner, I am looking forward to the challenge! LOL

I got a pretty decent deal on airfare last night. $190 per person, but then I was able to get it down to $160 per person because we had $30 vouchers from Delta from our last flights (I always call for vouchers when I see my airfare go down!). They also had a AAA discount for the room at Pop Century too. We'll be using Disney's Magical Express instead of a stretch limo like we usually have. lol But hey, I figure it'll be fun, and gives me a chance to check this out firsthand :)

We're going for 4 nights, over a weekend, so John will only miss 2 days of work. Craig will stay home here since he'll probably be working most of the weekend and then going to school, but Robby will stay at a friend's house while we're gone.

Have any of you stayed at Pop Century before? How did you like it? What section were you in? Do you have any pictures?? Thanks! :earboy2:

Terry

There is a fantastic thread on the Resorts page called The Groovey New Pop Century Resort or something like that, check it out.

Just one word of warning, there are some rooms in the 60's section that are actually further away from the food/bus/reception, than some of the rooms in the 50's and 70's. I think it all depends where you actual room is.

We have requested a top floor room/non connecting, with a water/fireworks view, what we will get is another thing lol.

I love the value resorts, not that Ive stayed in any other to compare lol, this is my 5th visit and my 5th time in a value, and I love them. We spend so little time in the rooms, and I always have found them more than adaquate, and Vicki loves the giant Icons.

The pop has had some great reviews, also there are some great photos on the home page of the dis wdwinfo I believe.

I am spending 14 nights there, so I will be able to give you the good, and the bad when I return.

Sue, Bev and Tina--it won't be long now, and you'll be on your way as well. It's sure going to be lonely on this thread over the next couple of weeks.

We have to run Stefani to the vet, we woke up this morning and found Stefani's right eye weeping, this happened a few months back at the vet gave us some drops, the eye cleared up in a few days.

This will be our 1st cruise. I haven't booked yet. I was wondering what you all think about this rate I got from Costco. It's $4,680 2 adults, 2 kids, cat 8. We're still making our mind up between decks 5 or 6. I'd rather book directly with Disney but the Costco quote is almost $500 less. Thanks, Maggie

We're paying about 3800.00 for 3 adults and 1 teenager(14) for a cat. 9 cabin, but we also booked back in January during our anniversary cruise, so I guess I'd say your fare is pretty good for a cat. 8, we booked through DCL.

I'm sure if we booked earlier we would have done better. It's tough enough planning one year ahead let alone two. We were looking @ the June 2006 cruise to celebrate a big birthday. Between the significant savings of the August cruise and June being such a hectic month we opted for August. We were in WDW last August and missed all the hurricaines, hoping our luck will continue for next August. Maggie

Since our original vacation for this summer was cancelled due to my knee surgery, we are using this week as our vacation. After taking Angelina and Hazel to Applebee's Monday night for dinner, last night we ordered a pizza. Hazel is enjoying not having to cook this week. Tonight is Family Night at the Walters' Home, and we will be watching "The Incredibles" and most likely will be getting some Chinese food. Gee, I wonder what we can do for Thursday night's meal? LOL!!!

Oh, I was just asked if we could go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Thursday evening. Angelina has seen it twice and Hazel once, but I haven't seen it yet, so I guess we have tomorrow nights agenda planned.

This is a different vacation, but at least we can enjoy it together!!!

Well All - I hate to say it but we have cancelled our ressie on the 8/19/06 cruise. We are realizing all the conflicts (school, sports, CCD) our kids will have now that we live in Florida since we are now encountering them with our repo cruise that we decided its best to just not go. So- there is a SPR available # 5022 should anyone want it.

To all my Hurricane Cruise buddies - it was a pleasure to vacation with you guys and hopefully we can do it again in the future. To all the new friends I would have made - I hope we can meet in the future.

I am so sorry to hear you canceled, although I half expected it. They will just be starting school and that is a hard time to miss.

But, on the bright side...I will SEE YOU Saturday!!!! Have a safe trip out to CA. I am sooooooo ready for this cruise. And will miss you next year. But there is no guarantee ANY of us will be there, it is so far away.

Ginny: Sorry that you had to cancel the cruise but it's very understandable. You know, when we all booked this cruise almost a year ago, I wondered how many of us might not be actually able to make the cruise, and sadly some of us have had to cancel. We even came close a few months ago, but as of now, it's full steam ahead for this cruise! :boat:

Ginny and Sandy: Have the BEST time ever on the repo cruise!!!! WOO HOO! Two weeks aboard the Magic!! :cheer2:  :goodvibes :sunny: :flower:

Surprise!!! Surprise!!! Surprise!!! :teeth:

It is 4:30pm on Wednesday August 17th and we are about 34,000 feet above the east coast on our Southwest flight heading to Florida!!! Angelina is sitting by the window listening to her iPod, Hazel is in the center seat listening to her CD player, and I am on the isle seat 2C listening to my Disney CD while I am typing this message. The song I am listening to is “When You Wish Upon a Star” at the moment.

Now I know that everyone thought we had cancelled this trip, and we did, but this past Saturday we decided to give it a try because I started feeling better. My surgeon and my physical therapist both gave me the clearance to make the trip. We will be staying in a Fort Wilderness Cabin at WDW for five nights and flying back home on Monday evening.

Our flight was scheduled to take off at 3:20pm, we actually took off at 3:35pm, which wasn’t bad at all. We are due to arrive at MCO around 5:50pm. My mom will be picking us up at the airport since she will be staying with us at WDW until Monday.

I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone on Friday night at the Trail’s End for the mini DISmeet. I think we are going to have a fun time meeting and getting to know one another before our cruise next August. I have my digital camera with me, so I will be doing my best to get some photos at The DISmeet and will be posting them as soon as I can. Ed had wireless internet service in his FW Cabin last week, so I’m hoping to have some photos posted on Saturday.

We are hitting some rough turbulence, so I’m going to stop typing for now because I’m making too many mistakes, LOL!!!

Later,

Andy

PS, the captain just came on and said we are about 98 miles from MCO and should be landing in about 20 minutes, it is now 5:15pm, so I’m going to sign off and close up my laptop.

Latest Update:
Well, here we are, we are in our FW Cabin, it’s a little after 9pm on Wednesday evening and checking in with y’all!!!

Good Day Everyone!!!

It’s early Thursday morning (6am) Angelina and my mom are asleep on the Murphy bed in the living room so I can’t get to the phone jack at the present time. I will copy and paste this message on the boards later this morning.

We had a very nice flight, except for the short bit of turbulence we experienced while I was trying to type my message yesterday afternoon, LOL!!!

I think I managed the two airports OK, but my knee is quite sore this morning, so we are going to take it easy today. We have plans on going to the Downtown Disney area and taking in a movie, most likely we’ll be seeing “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” as my mom and I haven’t seen it yet.

This is the first time we have stayed in a FW Cabin (we stayed in the old FW Homes back in the 80's and early 90's). I really like the Old Americana feel of the décor, it’s like walking back in time, with a modern touch. I will get some photos of the cabin later.

I know Sue, Vicki and Tina are flying in today, so I want to wish them safe travels, as well as Ed and his family as they continue their drive from Alabama. To Bev and her group, I wish you safe travels on Friday.

I guess that’s it for now.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Halfway through our 2001 trip I had an injury which left me unable to walk more than a few feet at a time, and I was very grateful to be able to rent a wheelchair in order to finish our trip. DH and DSs didn't want me to stay behind at the resort! There's no shame in taking a seat, if you need to :) Just take care of yourself, and have a GREAT time!

Please give everyone there a big hug from me tomorrow night! :grouphug: Tell them "This hug is from SeaSpray!" :grouphug: :earboy2: And give yourself a hug from me too! :teeth:

We just returned to our cabin a little bit ago and our getting ready for dinner. We arrived at the AMC 24 at Downtown Disney about 20 minutes before the movie. We bought our tickets, got some snacks, then went in to get our seats. We sat there for about 30 minutes waiting for the movie to start, when the manager came in and announced that they were having some trouble with the screen and they more moving us across the hall. Once we got settled in, the manager came in and handed everyone a free pass to come back and see another movie. We are thinking of going back on Sunday to see another movie, but we haven’t decided which one we’d like to see.

After we left the AMC , we headed to Kissimmee to the nearest Walmart to pick up a few items for the weekend. While walking around in Walmart my cell phone rang, on the other end was Sue, she said that her and Vicki had just arrived at the Pop Century. I’ll let Sue tell you about her flight when she returns home to South Wales. It was nice to put a voice with a face.

I’m sitting here with an ice pack on my knee trying to get the swelling down, I think I’ve been on it a bit too much today.

Well, dinner is ready, so I’m going to close for now.

Hi everyone

What a switch - this is Bev on Lindsay's screen name. There is something wrong with my computer. It keeps kicking me out as soon as I got on. Still packing and had to take a break to say hi and bye to my DIS friends. We have to be at the airport at 5am for our 7am flight. I'm tired but wide awake (no one said I make sense). Have so much to do and so little time. lol

Anyone, hope everyone has a great 2 weeks and please stay well. We'll be back home 9/2/05.

Bev :grouphug:

P.S. I have lots of rooms blocked at the Radisson so e-mail me if you want a room at the Radisson the night before. It's party time.

Woo-Hoo!!!!!!!!! One year to go!!!!!!!!

And tonight is the mini DISmeet at Trail's End, to celebrate the fact that we sail away one year from today!!! I'm resting up today for the meet tonight, I did a bit too much waking yesterday, LOL!!!

Welcome back to WDW Ed and Family!!!

On Saturday, we are meeting my brother Pete, his son Peter (who will be flying home with us on Monday) and my brother's girlfriend and her children at Disney Quest, after that we are planning on having dinner at a Dixie Crossroads that has now opened up in the Orlando area. I gotta get my Rock Shrimp before leaving Florida.

Be talkin' with you again later,

In honor of the one year pre-anniversary, I figured I should stop lurking and annouce my presence. We too will be cruising on 8/19, our first! It will be me, Denise, the DH, Mark, and our two children Jim (will be 7) and Paige (will be 4). Before anyone asks, Paige would be Aurora, that's because she is absolutely beautiful...when she is asleep!

I can't surf the boards too often, and you all move a bit fast for me! I'm on one day and Andy is just getting his knee surgery, and the next time I log on, he's in WDW (congrats on how well that is working out for you BTW), so you probably won't hear from me too often, but I thought I'd let you know I'm here.

Most of the active participants in this thread seem to have older children. Anyone else out there have younger children? In the, oh I don't know, 4 to 7 year old range.

Anyway, we are about to start another weekend, 4H fairs, birthday parties, other family obligations. I'd better get started!

Welcome Aboard to the Cruisin' Castaways Cruise Denise and Family, it's nice to have you join us!!!!! We hope you get to post a little more over the next year!!!!!

My mom and I just arrived back at our cabin in FW. We took a ride to fine the Dixie Crossroads here in the Orlando area. It is located on International Drive down the road a bit from Wet n' Wild. The only problem is, my brother was a tiny bit wrong, the DC has NOT opened for business yet, but they should be opening soon, as they had a Hiring Now banner hanging outside the restaurant.

Hazel just spoke with Sue on the phone. Sue and Vicki will be meeting us at our cabin around 4-4:30, then we will all go up to the Trail's End Restaurant together to meet the other cruisers at 6pm for dinner. It will be nice to put some faces with names!!!!!

That's all the news I have for now, will give a more detailed post either tonight after the meet, or tomorrow morning when I log on.

Bye for now,

Andy

Tina thanks for the quick photos... you all looked so great,... nice to put faces to the names.. and you got to put voices with them too...

Sorry your so sick..Get lots of rest.. How was SUE after her long flight over here.. :wave2:

Someone ask about POP CENTURY awhile back.. We stayed there last summer before our cruise and it was awesome. We had prefered room 60's right near the main pool and dining hall...I will have to check my papers to see what room..( Daniel will remember but he is still sleeeping),...
At fist we were on the top floor up and way back.. well those that went cruising with us may recall that is when Karens knee problem started since she fell that day at home leaving for the airport and messed up her knee..so we fought for a closer room..

I thought it was great.. For the amt of time your in the room and all...You bassically get the same food as Carribean Beach resort and of course the same service.. If you want a more formal dining arrangement ... go to the other hotels.. The buses ran so freg... that we never noticed a time lag either. And of course it was neat walking the grounds and seeing the old paraphanila*sp from the 60s and 70s and then all the tall replicas of the toys from those eras...

Sue I hope you and VICKI enjoyed it.. I dont think I developed my underwater film yet from there,,lol :rotfl:

OK time to get JACLYN off to work,, my time for the shower..

You would not believe the day we had today, if I was to tell you all what happened, you would say, yea right.

We left the cabin at 12:45PM to take a one hour ride north to my mom's place. Well, that one hour ride wound up being a five hour trip. We were about half way to my mom's when her car broke down on I-4. My mom called her brother and he came to the rescue. My uncle had to take my mom and I to Sanford International Airport so we could get a rental car as all the local rental car offices closed a 1pm.

On the way from the airport to where we left Hazel and Angelina waiting for us, my uncle called us to let us know that his truck broke down just as he was getting ready to get on I-4. Luckily, after about five minutes he called and said he got his truck running again. We pulled off I-4, just in time to see all the traffic backed up. A man on a motorcycle had been hit by a car and he was laying in the middle of the road. The police were directing traffic so we were able to get around him just before the ambulance arrived. We picked up Hazel and Angelina then were back on the road again, by now it was 5:30pm. We arrived at my mom's at 6pm, and pulling in behind us was my uncle and nephew. After we got our wits about us, we drove to CJ's Seafood House and got a bite of dinner. To my surprise the restaurant had Rock Shrimp, of course, that's what I ordered.

Well, that in a nutshell, was our day. We arrived back at our cabin here at 10:15pm and I'm now waiting until 12:01am so I can check us in for our Southwest flight home Monday afternoon!!!

My mom gave Sue a call as I was typing this message, we are picking Sue and Vicki up tomorrow morning and taking them out to brunch before heading over to the airport. BTW, we rented a nice 7 passenger mini-van. My mom's car will be going in the shop tomorrow afternoon. My uncle thinks the fuel pump went on my mom's car. I'm just glad it happened today, and not on Monday as we were heading for the airport!!!

Happy Trails from Fort Wilderness!!! :wave2:

Monday 8/22/05--3:00pm

Here we are sitting in the Orlando Airport waiting to board our 4:25pm flight home. We had a very nice breakfast buffet meal this morning with Sue and Vicki. After breakfast, we took Sue and Vicki back to Pop Century, then we headed for the airport. This was the “third” time we said good-bye to Sue and Vicki since Friday night, LOL!!!. Sue and Vicki are both very charming ladies, and we can’t wait to spend our dinner meals with them on the August 2006 cruise.

I had a minor fall this morning as my mom and I were arriving back at our cabin after making a trip to buy my nephew a Fort Wilderness t-shirt to wear home on our flight. I reached the top step, but could not get my right foot all the way to the top step. My sneaker got caught under the lip of the top step, and down I went onto the deck landing. I just laid there and started laughing. The more I tried to get up, the harder I laughed. My nephew Peter (age 12) came running out of the cabin to help my mom get me up. I was able to get turned over to push myself up, but I started laughing even harder, by now, my mom was laughing as well. I was finally able to grab a hold of the rail that runs along the deck, and pull myself up. What a way to end our trip. The only that got hurt was my pride, although I did scrape my right leg. When I told Sue what had happened, she told me to get on the plane today and take it easy, I think I will do just that, LOL!!!

Monday 8/22/05--8:55pm

We arrived home about 30 minutes ago, we had a very nice flight home and are happy to be back in our humble abode, SAFE and SOUND!!! I'm sitting here icing my knee down and eating a sandwich. I miss everyone already.

Isn't Sue a riot, we had so much fun sharing the past few days together. If my mom gets her car fixed in time, she is hoping to be able to drive back to WDW and meet up with Sue again before Sue and Vicki head home to Wales.

We're not actually booked yet on this particular cruise, but I've posted a couple of messages and the responses have been helpful. We're considering two dates in August. I'm waiting to hear back from my Board of Ed. I'm a little worried the 8/19 cruise is cutting it too close to the start of school.

When I do book I wanted to be prepared with my insurance decision and dinner seating. I'm probably going with the Costco quote and they also offer insurance at what seems to be a great deal and meets my expectations. Is there an advantage to booking directly w/ Disney vs. Costco? I've been finding Costco very helpful.

Costco suggested taking the 2nd dinner seating. That way you can bring the kids to a "special" early buffet, take in the 6:30 show, drop off the kid's at the club & then go to the late dinner. I hadn't considered that and wasn't sure what this "special" buffet was. I'm not sure I'd want to do that every night. Your dining assignment is for the entire duration, correct?

Thanks again for all your help. Hopefully, we'll be able to firm up our decision soon. Maggie

Verandah Man ... we would love to be added to the dinner link ... the more the merrier I always say!

Tina ... I can't believe 9 months has passed ... I wish we would have had the forethought to plan our cruise last week while sailing in November, but ... oh well

We are all looking forward to a 7 night, although I'm a little skeptical about the August sailing date re: the weather. Last week's cruise was beautiful and very, very calm seas. In fact, the weather in the Bahamas, was cooler than in Central Florida.

I'm going to enjoy counting down with everyone and certainly am up for a game of DIS Tag!

Hi everyone :)

I have not been feeling well the last couple of days, especially today, so I apologise for not keeping up with the thread!

First of all: TINA! I am so sorry I didn't call you back yesterday. When is a good time for me to call you?? My sister is in the hospital and I was talking to my niece (her daughter, they live in NJ) when you called me. You didn't sound too good yourself, your cold is still pretty bad, huh :(

Andy: Sorry about that fall. *ouch* But you know, I have to say that I love your attitude, and you poor thing, when I was reading your post, I could just picture you falling and then laying there laughing hysterically! I SO can't wait to meet you and Hazel and Angelina :sunny: How is your knee feeling today? Oh, and do you know if I am linked to the late-dining crowd?? I don't remember if I ever sent you my reservation # or not :scratchin I know Doreen will want to be included too. I *think* hers and ours are already linked, but I have a really bad memory so I'm not sure.

Disney Poly: Welcome to the thread and cruise! I have DSs the same age as your 2 older ones. My DSs are 17 and 14 now, will be 18 and 15 on the cruise. Looking forward to meeting you and your family :)

Ed: I'm glad you had such a wonderful vacation. :) Have a safe trip home!

Hi all,

Day 2 from the road. Toady we started the day in SC and drove thur SC, NC and spending the night in Roanoke Va

Tomorrow we will see the natural Bridge and Luray Caveens and other sites before heading for Maryland.

Had one delay today, a major accident shut down the roadway in Charoltee NC. Took out the maps and a hour detour and we were back on the way.

Hey Maggie, I went ahead and booked the 8/19 cruise based on the fact that our school district seems to be starting,at least the last couple of years, the Monday before Labor Day. It does make it a bit tight getting back (ship arrives in port on Sat AM, we have to be back in PA Mon AM, a leisurely drive back is not an option!). From what I understand, if we do have to change the date, like when the official 2006-07 school year calendar comes final out in February, we should be able to do it at no cost. I'm sure that is only up to a certain point, but you might want to check with your travel agent, but you would hate to miss out on any early booking discounts, too.

As for dining rotation, I'm pretty sure you have to stick with early or late, although you do have some flexibility if you eat at Palo one night. I would have preferred the late seating, because 6 really is a little early for us to eat, but it was pointed out to me that the 8:30 seating isn't going to be over until 10 or later, and that really is too late for the kids. As for feeding the kids at the buffet, the kid's club will take the kids to the buffet, but if I did, and then went to the 8:30 seating, I would end up eating 2 meals!

Anyone that has late seating thats wants to be linked together.. Update on HurricanUpdate on Hurricane Hilary's path

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you all may have heard the Magic has been rerouted to Manzanillo due to 15 ft waves in Cabo. Our captiain decided that with the tendering it would be too dangerous to stop. Therefore we are on another sea day and will hit Manzanillo Tuesday where we get to dock (Yeah!). Captian Tom has assured us that as we proceed further south we will smaller and smaller waves/swells. Anyway, just wanted to write since I hadn't seen anything yet. Quite possible might be something on another thread but haven't heard of any injuries although the ship was rocking and rolling from the night before. For those of you back there, maybe this will make you feel better about being on land. Right now although the swells are getting better, my stomach wishes it was back on land.

ALso, have taken lots of pixs but haven't been able to download with our laptop. If anyone has seen pixs please pm me and let me know who's doing it. Would love to learn how they did it. Wasn't sure if it was us or the system. Others seem to be having the same problem. Gotta go the line for the computers is getting long again.

Tomorrow we drive to home(375 miles to go).

We may make it, unless we decide to stop at hershey Pa.

Trying to get another trip planned in the next 6months - Next August is too far away.

Dave's doing wonderful - he looks great. He's lost 30lbs and is feeling good.

Does anyone know anything about Hashimoto's thyroiditis? Came home from WDW today to find a letter from my doctor, prescription and a third bloodwork (already tested in June and Aug) to be done 4-6wks after starting this drug. Looking it up on the internet but has anyone ever heard of it?

Hi there!

My mother has Hashimoto's disease. It's a form of an underactive thyroid. I have hypothyroidism, we both take Synthroid. My mother, however, has a "goiter" on her thyroid and therefore she needs to be checked for that every year to be sure that it doesn't grow. We both go every 6 months for blood work just to be sure the Synthroid is doing its job. During and following my last pregnancy, my dosage had be to adjusted as my hormones were changing.

Have you been on any thyroid medicine previously?

Hey everyone!

Bev: I tried to PM you about a room at the Radisson, but got a message that you were out of space and could not accept new messages currently.

Doreen: Don't worry, I have no plans to cancel this cruise. In fact, sometime this next month I need to get the air travel taken care of. (The cruise is already paid.) My current burning question is whether to stay at WDW Resort for a few days after the cruise or not. (And if so, where?)

The mini-DISmeeters: Loved the pictures! Wish I could have been there. It sounds like everyone had a good time. I'm glad that everyone got home safely.

Well, this last week has been absolutely crazy (again). I know that some of you jokingly point out that at least my life isn't boring, but quite frankly, I think that I could go for a couple of weeks of "Boring" at this point.

I spent this last week not as second-in-command, but as team lead. The lead was on vacation for the week. It just reinforced my desire to not be a manager. (There is a reason that a friend of mine refers to work as "adult day-care".) I am SOOO glad that the lead will be back tomorrow.

On Thusday night Devin, my mom and I all went over to Seattle to see "Annie" on stage at the Paramount Theater. I got season tickets to "Broadway at the Paramount" for Mom and I as an early birthday/Christmas present for her this year. It includes five plays over the next year. Mom had taken me to see "Annie" when it first came off Broadway. (I wasn't much older than Devin at the time.) Since it is such a good play, I got an extra ticket for Devin and took him along. There is one other play in the series that I'm going to take him to - "Wicked". It's the story of Glenda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West before Dorothy comes to Oz. It's supposed to explain a lot of things, like where the Ruby Slippers came from. I'm so glad that Devin has developed a liking for theater. In spite of the fact that we missed the 10:30 PM ferry home by about 20 minutes and had to wait for the 12:50 AM boat. He still thought that it was "worth it!"

Then on Friday morning we had to be at the junior high by 9 AM (after getting to bed at 2:30 AM) to pick up Devin's class schedule, have school pictures done, get a locker assignment, etc. School starts on the Tueday after Labor Day. I felt like a walking pocket-book. The only thing they needed me for was to sign a couple of forms and to write several checks. By the time we got everything done and hit the drive-through for lunch, we didn't get back home until 1 PM. (And then I got to log in and work for the rest of the afternoon - I was one whooped puppy that night.)

Yesterday we went up to the county fair with my friend, Doug, and his daughters. (Doreen, I understand about having the fair in your backyard. I live 1/2 mile down the road from the county fairgrounds.) We bought the kids all-you-can-ride passes and turned them loose in the 'spin-and-puke' area (as Doug calls it), while we enjoyed ourselves wandering around the fair and catching up with each other. The kids located us before the appointed meeting time for dinner complaining about being hungry already. We passed out dinner money and made arrangements to meet up again in an hour. It was nice to have some uninterrupted time to catch up with each other.

Today I am trying to take it easy and recouperate before I have to dig into the work situation again tomorrow. I hope that everyone is well.

what a sad sad day - its back to work today - havent been there since Aug 11th - boss is on vacation this wk so thats a good thing
I read a post on the Budget board about airfare from Hartford to Orlando roundtrip at the cost of $116.90 11/30-12/4 (Wed-Sun). DH agreed that its a great rate. Only thing is Im out of vacation time until Jan 1st. Told DH Id take the days w/out pay. Kinda defeats the low airfare though. He said "talk to my boss". Well maybe I'll start looking after Jan 1st - give myself a Christmas present!

Yep,

Sad day here too, My first day back since Aug 3rd.
Boy did I hate that alarm going off this morning.

Came into work, and they was many glad faces I was back. Gee at least its nice to be missed.
As they put it, it was a rough 3 weeks for them.

Well only another 500 emails to go though and I will be caught up

back to work

Well, I still have about another four weeks before I will be going back to work. Therapy is going good and the swelling is going down, the hematoma is hardly noticeable now, which makes me feel better. I'm still having trouble going up stairs, but we are working on getting the strength back in my right leg.

Ed--have you heard from your brother in Alabama? How is he fairing with Hurricane Katrina?

Havent heard from the group in the south yet.
Normally it will take a day or two if the power is out before We will hear anything.

Hey all, wish I could commiserate on the coming back from vacation blues, but I didn't take off any appreciable time this summer. B/c the cruise, all totaled, will take up what we normally budget for one summer vacation, we decided just to do day trips and long weekends this summer. Unfortunately, circumstances prevented those day trips and long weekends! We're trying to correct that problem with a trip "down the shore" this weekend, so maybe next Tuesday I can be empathize with those back-to-work blues!

Well, anyway, thanks for attending my pity party  , but the real reason I'm posting is to ask if anyone has taken advantage of the companion-ticket reward from the Disney Chase Visa. I got the voucher in the mail, and I'm curious about a couple of things. First of all, if I'm reading correctly, I understand that I will get my fare at a set rate (which was reasonable) and then a companion fare free. Can I book more than two tickets (for the kids), and will those fares be the same, or will they try to soak me for alot more? Also, what airlines are these tickets on, and are the times flexible, or are they the 6AM flights out of Orlando that no body wants?

If anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Verandah Man
08-30-2005, 12:26 PM
Sorry Denise, I can't help with this question as I usually book our flights with Southwest (Philadelphia) or Spirit (Atlantic City). I remember reading something about the companion-ticket, but I didn't pay much attention to it.

Spoke with my family in Alabama,

All are safe, a few trees and fences down around the house.
The power is out. They rode out the storm in Moblie. About 90 mile an hour winds.

They have a generator and expect power to be restored in a couple of days

WOW!!! Thanks for the update Ed, I was wondering today how your brother and his family made out. Katrina's rains are now hitting our area, and it's supposed to get worse on Wednesday, we will be in a tornado watch for Wednesday as well.

Just ran out to get some gas in the car. I was just watching the FOX 10 o'clock News and saw that gas prices are supposed to jump by 15 to 40 cents a gallon overnight. I found one station open that was still selling regular gas at $2.53 a gallon. I rode past other stations that were already closed for the night and their prices were at $2.70 a gallon. I had a half a tank in the car, so 5.5 gallons cost me $14.00 and Hazel just filled up the car three days ago. Many others must have been watching the 10 o'clock news as well, there were at least 50 cars lined up at the gas station when I got there. The cars were already lined out on the major roadway leading up to the station.

I'm 18 and I get along great with everyone at every age, and I love the "Bahama Mama", yes my dad and mom do let me have a drink or two of a special day's like birthday's or the first day of a cruise, I love the most Bahama Mama, mudslides, and mike's hard lemonade, only had drinks three times so far through high school unlike my friends

Andy ... did you see on Fox News where they said the gas prices may be as high as $4.00 per gallon in the coming week? Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do about it.

My children went back to school yesterday ... hard to believe where the summer went.

Hopefully today the rain won't be too bad, as we tend to get flooded when it comes down too fast.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of those in the South who are trying to survive and recover from this terrible hurricane!

Take care!

Yes Maureen I saw that, but I thought the man the reporter was talking to said it might be $4.00 in three to four weeks. Only time will tell I guess.

On my way to PT at 8:30 this morning I passed a Lukoil station and the price for regular was $2.65 a gallon. On my way home at 11:00am the price for reuglar gas at the same station was $2.75 a gallon. Luckily, the office I had to go to was only five minutes from my house, so I didn't even turn the air on in the car, gotta save where ever we can now. I'm also glad I locked in the price, this past Spring, for my heating oil for our house for this coming winter, I can only imagine what that is going to cost. If I remember correctly, I think the price I locked in was for $2.19 a gallon, I also had my oil tank filled the end of June, so we will start the heating season with a full tank.

Vacation time is coming to an end for a few of our fellow cruisers in the next few days. I know that Sue and Vicki will be flying back across the pond later today, with an early Friday morning arrival back in Wales. Bev and her group, Karen and her family will be flying home this weekend as well. Safe travels to all, and check in when you get home.

I saw my surgeon on Wednesday and he said my knee is progressing nicely, but he does want me to continue PT for at least another four weeks and has signed me out of work until I go back to see him on September 28th.

I think I'm going to be able to adjust to retirement life quite well when the time comes!!! I have enjoyed being home, but if you ask my DW, she might have a different response!!! :rotfl2:

just checking in - It sure has been quiet here lately with everyone finishing up their summer vacations
Andy - glad to hear the knee is getting better

Dave went into work today to get his paycheck. His coworkers had a card with cash (they all donated) and a Dunkin Donuts card for him. He's been getting piles and piles of cards too. He spoke to his boss yesterday and let her know he'll be needing sick hours. The hospital all gets together when someone is out on an extended sick leave and donates their time for whoever needs it. The hospital matches sick time. Dave is 3wks short for a return date of Oct 1st. (thats if he returns by then) He'll be needing 60hrs, hosp will give him 60hrs. Dave says alot of the time when time is donated that the person it is donated to often ends up with more time than they started with! Dave in turn will donate when someone else needs it too as he's done in the past. Good program to have.

I spoke w/my boss today and told her Im either going back to WDW 1st wk of Feb or last wk of Mar. She wants to know ASAP so I'll have to rush along my friend with her decision. If she comes (extends her cheerleading wknd) I'll go in March. If not then Im going when the crowds are smaller in Feb.

Ed - thanks for sharing your pictures. They are great.
Glad everyone made it back safely.
For everyone on the repo cruise - how was it?

I'm still not back to reality. I don't have to be in work until Tuesday. We had a great time meeting at Trail's End. The cruise was great. DS Harley liked it better than DCL but DD Lindsay and I love DCL. The whole 2 week vacation had some rain everyday but not the whole day. (We were at sea during Katrina and had no idea about the hurricane). We stayed at the POP the night before the cruise and we really enjoyed it. Wish we would have stayed a few extra days. The timeshare was great as usual. The flights there and back were really smooth.

My PM is full and I haven't had a chance to go thru it yet. For everyone,
I have blocked rooms at the Radisson so e-mail me at Bweiss923@aol.com or PM me to book your room at the Radisson the night before. It's party time for the DISer's :dancer: .

Rates are: standard room $129 + tax
Suite with 1 king size bed and queen sleeper sofa $169 + tax

Hi Doreen,

Today is Angelina's last day of summer vacation, she starts her sophomore year on Thursday. It's hard to believe my baby is going into 10th grade already, where have the years gone??? I think Angelina is more excited about starting school this year, last year she was quite nervous starting at the high school, now she has a whole year behind her, she feels more relaxed. She is also exicted because she found out that her best friend Trish and her have some classes together. Thanks to Power Parent we were able to check her schedule out online yesterday, of course Angelina spen all day yesterday IMing her friends to see who had what teacher, during what period.

This year's Homecoming isn't until the first Saturday in November, but Angelina already has her dress, shoes and handbag, nothing like being prepared I guess, LOL!!!

I told Angelina yesterday that she could wear the dress on the cruise next summer for either Formal Night or Semi-Formal Night, her reply was, "We'll see." Kids, just you don't love 'em!!!

I've got a few more messages to check then I'm off to PT, take care all!!!

Oh Yes, I know I will be buying a few more dresses before cruise time. There is a young man by the name of Dan that Angelina is interested in. The two of them have already talked about him taking her to the Jr-Sr Prom this year. Oh boy, here we go again!!! One of my husband's favorite lines from a movie is from Clueless. If you haven't seen it, Cher's (the main character) date comes to pick her up. Her father says to the date (something to the effect of) "I have a .44 and a shovel, I doubt anyone would miss you."

Our DD is only 3 1/2, but he is already practicing that line!

When I was in Florida this past March my mom put in a CD, I think it was Jeff Foxworthy. Anyhow, I remember one line on the CD that went something like this. The father speaking to his daughter's date, "I don't mind going back to prison, if I have too." I think I might use that line every now and then.

We met Dan before they went to eat, he really seems like a nice kid. Angelina asked Hazel if they could go food shopping today at Shop Rite instead of Acme. Hazel asked her why, and Angleina replied, "Because that's where Dan works part-time." I can hear Donny Osmond right now, "And they call it puppy love." :dog:

I'm here :wave2:

Robby had his first day of high school today. Craig starts his senior year tomorrow. :teacher:

Robby seemed to have a great first day; he said he likes his Honors Biology teacher a lot. She told the students they will work hard this year, but that she wants them to have fun and enjoy the class too. Oh, and she is going to let them bring soda or water or coffee/tea/hot chocolate to class with them, if they want. lol He said that all of the other teachers let them drink spring water in class, but not soda or anything else.

Robby is thrilled to finally be in high school and in ALL honors classes. In middle school, only the math class and English class were separated according to ability. He likes to learn at a relatively fast clip and he likes delving deeply into subjects, and that just is not possible when the classes are mixed, like they were in middle school. I think he is really going to love high school :teacher:

I haven't been posting on here or sending emails much because I haven't been very chatty lately, but everything is fine here and I think about all of you, and our cruise, fairly often :boat: Also, over the weekend John said that maybe we should stay at the Wilderness Lodge or the Polynesian, instead of Pop Century, for our adults-only trip next month, so I've been back to reading the resorts and the restaurants boards again. So much for a "budget" trip. lol But, we have not totally decided to switch, so who knows, maybe we will just keep our Pop reservation :scratchin

P.S. Oh yeah, forget to mention, Do any of you play VMK? VMK is a Disney online game site, it stands for Virtual Magic Kingdom. It's free to play. Anyway, John and I have been playing the games on there a LOT for the last few months. You might have noticed my new avatar, that's what my character looks like, in the game. Also, I have CL before my user name CapeGirl. CL means that I am a Community Leader in the game. A Community Leader just plays like every other player, but also tries to make sure that the rules of the game are enforced. I had to send in an application to Disney, and then after a week or so, I was notified that I was "hired". lol No pay, just a volunteer job. LOL John is also a CL. His name in the game is CL_capecad. CapeCAD is the name of his business. (CAD standing for Computed Aided Design). I tried several times to sign up using SeaSpray but VMK wouldn't accept it, so out of frustration I typed in CapeGirl, and it was accepted. Anyway, let me know what your id is, if any of you are on there, or decide to sign on! :flower: Oh, and that's John and I, VMK style, down in the countdown timer for our October trip. :teeth:

Apparently the DIS tag fairy is a member of VMK because I got two new tags recently. One just says I'm a VMK Community Leader, and the other one "Loud people give me skull pain" was a line I said in the game one night, during a conversation. lol Had NO idea that a DIS tag fairy was around. lol VMK has a limited dictionary in order to try and protect young kids from giving out too much personal info, and to avoid people from saying things they shouldn't say. So, you cannot say words like "head" or "ache", and many other common words. SO, we end up getting creative, in order to say what we want to say. On that particular night, someone was saying that they are very loud in person, and I said the above line. Out of context, I guess it sounds pretty funn :)

Since the cruise is getting closer all the time, I made our quarterly payment this afternoon!!! Our cruise is now "officially" half paid off.

Just for the fun of it, I went back to see what the price difference was from when we booked, and what the price is today. Since booking this cruise back in January, the price has gone up some $1600.00 That early booking does come in handy, not to mention the 10% and the $200.00 stateroom credit we got for booking onboard!!!!!

Doreen

DOREEN, Girlfriend! I missed you!
The cruise was awesome and we had a great time. Ginny and her family were our tablemates and we couldn't have had a better time. Stan got alot of rest and Sandy and I snorkeled for the first time. I am soooo tan. We met so many nice people and some of them are booked for this cruise too! Can't wait to sail with all of you again.

Stan will have the port installed tomorrow and will start chemo on Monday. Everyone says how good he looks. We are praying that he responds well to the treatment. I know he enjoyed the trip and was concious of balancing rest and making memories with Sandy. He didn't complain once about posing for pictures.

Sandy started 3rd grade today!!! She came home all happy and bubbly. She looked so grown up in her uniform kilt, no more jumper. Where did my baby go?

Gotta go to bed...getting back to work was tough yesterday. Sandy and Stan both came downstairs on Tues and said, "What? No Lumiere's?" Too funny!

DARLENE<< :goodvibes so good to see you.. I am thrilled that you had a great time.. And STAN did as well... Its so funny that over a year ago you met GINNY and now you sailed with her again..I misssed talking to you guys..As you can see it has been quite here. I didnt get any emails from you or her while you were gone:(

Sandy did well back in school? Mine did as well. I like the fact of uniforms too. Mine can wear Navy or Tan pants or shorts with Polos that have the school logo on it and the girls can wear the plaid or kahki skirt. The boys can wear the oxford with a tie but most opt for the polo now adays..Its so much easier and $$$$..lol

Daniel schedule is all messed up. I think he has 5 study halls in a roll on 4 days.. So much for classes.. One class is excell MATH but they left out BAND.

Jaclyn loves her schedule as well.. WHAOO :Pinkbounc

Doing good thank you Andy! Back from caring for my Mom and our subsequent vacation at DW. We stayed at POP and took advantage of the Free dining plan. It was great but waaaaay too much food! I don't even want to know how much weight I gained. The kids started back to school on Aug. 31st and my DD started middle school. I'm too young to have a child in middle school....aren't I? LOL

How is the knee? Hope the family is doing well! Can't wait to see you guys on the cruise and meet everyone else!

We are back from our Eastbound Repositioning Cruise. It was a fabulous vacation. It was difficult to think about this vacation while planning the other. I fell in love with Disneyland while in California. We are so excited to be sailing with all of you!

Sailing with the Ship of Fools was an incredible, unforgettable experience. Fourteen days was not too long for us. Seven days will seem so short. There are many fellow Fools who will be with us again and for that we are thrilled.

I'm considering touring some ruins in Costa Maya and have put in a request with a small company run by local folks there.

Have a great night!

Hi Robin, welcome home!!!

I was wondering if those who would be going to the airport after disembarkation from the cruise would like to charter a bus. I know a large group from the August Repo Cruise did this, and the cost was cheaper than getting a rental car or a limo service. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

HI ROBIN!!

Hello, Everyone!!

Sandy and I were looking at her scrapbook from our Jan 2003 cruise. Oh my, she looks like a baby. So many wonderful memories! And she really remembers alot of the trip. It reminded me of why we do this. Cruise, I mean. What other vacation promotes so many lasting memories in a stress-free environment where I don't have to do anything but spend time with my family? And we make nice friends, to boot.

Looking forward to planning this trip with you all. Andy, the bus is a good idea, it worked well for us. I'm not sure if we will be heading to the airport after the cruise, but if we are I will give you a holler.

Darlene

Andy I enjoyed the bus rides we shared before and after the cruise. I believe the bus price was based on all seats being used up - I think the price should include gratuity less five seats. On both busses we did not have enough room for luggage and had to be mighty creative.

Although it was a two week cruise and no doubt folks had more luggage, I would still not book every seat.

Going to the airport meant we split the busses: one for terminal A and one for terminal B. This meant waiting for the luggage to be unloaded (and helping to unload). People who had noon flights were pretty antsy.

We are not sure of our plans yet, but would love to ride with Castaways if it fits our plans. I need to get a school calendar for next year!

I'm also trying to convince them to join us next August, we'll see what happens, as they plan on booking the 11 day cruise on the Wonder for next September.

I'll be staying here at the Pop until Friday morning, then Friday my mom and I will be heading over to see Shirley, and will be spending the night at her place. I have an early flight home Saturday morning, as I have a wedding to be at by 2pm Saturday afternoon.

I love to plan and it's killing me to have so little information! thanks!

I am so with you!!! I can't wait until someone starts posting the navigators for the "Special Western Carribean Itinerary". I think the first trip is in December, so that at least gives us an 8 month head start. In the meantime, I plan based on different scenarios.

In other news, I couldn't help but notice that Joanna adopted a dog recently. We just put in an application on Monday for a male Jack Russell Terrier we found on Petfinder.com (we have a female JRT). We've heard nothing, and the waiting is killing me! (can you see this is a common theme with me). I have exchanged e-mails with his foster mother, and she mentioned that there is another application in for him. I'm kind of at the point that I wish they would just say yes or no so I could move on. What is taking so long!

I was looking into possible fun excursions for Costa Maya and found http://www.chacchobenruins.com/

I emailed the contact requesting info on arranging for a private group excursion. Here is the response:

Dear Robin,

Thank you very much for contacting us. Please accept my apologies for my very late response to your email.

Based on my experience guiding in Costa Maya, my first recommedation for families interested in touring ruins while traveling with children is Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. The site is very accessible and has a full service area with a small shopping area where the locals offer handcrafts made in our village or in the sorrounding areas.
The ride to get from Costa Maya, (Majahual) to Chacchoben, is around 45-50 minutes. The road is practically new and in perfec conditions.

The ruins at Chacchoben, offer a great opportunity for the young ones to learn a little about history and the culture of the place, It also offers a a chance to see the conditions in which these ruins were found and how much they change after the restoration. The sorrounding jungle is also inviting for a small exploration, and even when we don't gurantee that we can see any wild animals, the jungle frequently reserves little or big surprises for our groups.

Regarding our services, we are always flexible and don't have a program already set meaning that we practically let our groups shape the tour focusing on their interests and preferences. This tour can be completed in 3.5 to 4 hours maximum, so you'd still have time left for other activities either in Majahual, or back at the port.

The price for this tour is $43 per person. It includes round transportation, travel insurance, entrance fees, local native guide, bottled water at the beginning of the tour and beer or soda at the end.

Please feel free to contact us in case you need any further details.

Sincerely,
Ivan Cohuo

I had an absolutely MAGICal day today, starting with a change in our breakfast plans. Instead of going to the Poly for breakfast, we wound up going to a character breakfast at the Beach Club Resort. Rae and I were using this as our 50th Birthday Celebration. We had our photos taken with Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. Rae and I were also each presented with a small chocolate birthday cake with a lit candle, all the CM's came to our table to sing HB to us. After breakfast we all headed over to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping. While I was checking out at one of the stores, the CM saw the birthday button I had on, she said to me that there was a very important call for me from Goofy and handed me the phone. The next thing I heard was Goofy singing HB to me. Once we were finished at DD, we went back to the Beach Club and spent about an hour or so in the Stormalong Bay Pool.

Rae and her family then went to EPCOT for the evening, while my mom and I went to a TGI Friday's for dinner. I'm back in my room now checking messages and getting ready to load today's photos in my laptop. Will try to post a few photos if it doesn't get to late.

Tomorrow, we are meeting Rae, Tom and Michael at Dixie Crossroads in Titusville for lunch, then will be driving down to Cape Canaveral to visit with Shirley and Norm and take them out for dinner. My mom and I will be spending Friday night with Shirley and Norm, then I fly home Saturday morning, as Rae and her family head over to board the Magic.

I'm sitting here at Shirley's (The Perfect Gift) house this evening. We had a lovely "All you can eat Seafood Buffet" dinner at the Hilton in Cocoa Beach tonight, I am so full. Will be turning in early (hopefully) as I have to head over to the airport by 7:30 Saturday morning.

48 weeks, I can't wai!!! I'll be seeing the Magic on my way to the airport in the morning. I'm sure we are going to stop by and see about getting a few photos. Actually, I will be able to see the Magic from Shirley's balcony, but it will be too far to get a nice pic of from here.

We left a little later from Shirley's than I had planned, but I was abel to get a couple if shots of the Magic from the highway this morning. It was a bit hazy, so the photo isn't real clear. It was such a bummer, seeing the Magic, and knowing I wouldn't be getting on it until next August. I have attached one of my photos below that I took this morning.

Hope you has a safe trip home,

Well this weekend has been an experisive one,
We are getting ready to bring home two kittens later this week. They are about 6 to 7 weeks old.

I have been busy coverting the landing between downstair and up stairs into a kitty playpen. A safe area from the dog
This area is where we kept the litter box for our previous cats.

Kitty supplies are breaking the bank, lol Our cats that had past away were 16 years old, so its been a long time since kittens have been in the house.

Kitten toys, litter box, cat beds, food bowls, food, new mat for landing, gates , doggy treats, doy toy, (cant have the kittens get all the good stuff) lol.

Or also signed Caitlin up for knitting class,

Yep one expendsive weekend, The today food shopping for the week. :rotfl:

Not much new going on around here, other than Angelina has her "first official" boyfriend. His name is Ian, and I met him Monday evening. He is a good looking kid, with pleasant manners!!! Angelina did quite well picking out this boy, or maybe he picked Angelina out, I'm not quite sure, LOL!!! Hi everyone! I called member services today and booked so we are now official. No turning back now. I had to do a Cat. 5 since all the Cat.6 rooms were booked. Have you guys taken over all of Deck 6???? The difference in the points were only 13 pts. each and the cash price stayed the same for the 2 DDs. So now my countdown can be official!!! :cheer2:

I saw my surgeon this morning and he signed me out of work because he wants me to continue my PT for another 4 weeks, as I'm still having trouble going up and down stairs, and since a great deal of my work requires stair climbing, he thought it was best not to send me back to work just yet.

Here's a spooky thought, my first day back at work might just be, Halloween :maleficen Day!!!

Hi Everyone!

There is a lot of discussion with the Ship of Fools characters about whether there would be a land meeting before or after our Castaway Cruise. Since school has started before labor day the last two years, I want to be careful about scheduling.

Crowds will definitely be less after the cruise rather than before our cruise but I really like the idea of resting after running around the parks for a week or so. What are others thinking?

My family cruised in August and are cruising again on this cruise. We've chosen to visit WDW the week prior to the cruise and then spend Friday night at the Radisson.

Congrats on getting the cruise paid in full Doreen!!! I'm half-way there!!! We just got our real estate tax rebate on Saturday, I'll be applying that to our cruise balance this coming week!!!

So far, our plans are: arriving in Florida a few days before the cruise, and staying a few days after the cruise. Since we have a place about 90 minutes from the port, we will most likely be staying there, except for the night before the cruise, as we already have a room reserved at the Radisson. I like waking up Saturday morning knowing we are only "minutes" from the ship!!!

Glad to hear things are going so well for you. Stan asks me all kinds of questions about your jewelry. He thinks you make it. You just distribute it, don't you? Send me a book if you want to.

Hey gang!

Figured that I better check in and let you guys know that I'm still alive and kicking (kinda). Things still haven't slowed down much for me. Work has been crazy. We're behind schedule and I've been putting in insane hours (45 - 50 per week). And as a result came down with a severe cold/flu last week. It's getting better, but I'm still trying to hack up a lung every morning. At least it didn't settle into bronchitis this time - Thank God!

Devin started school right after Labor Day. He has really surprised his father and I. We spent years telling him, but it really seems to have registered this year, that he has a whole lot more free time in the evening if he actually works on his school work at school.

I took Devin to his first rock concert a couple of weeks ago. We have an outdoor amphitheater along the Columbia River gorge mid-state, about 3.5 hours from my house. It is an old vinyard that was converted into a concert venue about 25 years ago. It's absolutely beautiful. The stage is about 100 feet in front of the dropoff into the gorge and is surrounded by a natural amphitheater. People sit on blankets on the grass. It's totally cool. (I had never been there before.) We saw REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and Styx. It was a 5-6 hour concert. Devin was totally amused to see all of these middle aged folks rocking out like teenagers. We had a really good time at the show and camped out (part of the concert package I got - there is a campground adjacent to the amphitheater) before driving home the next morning.

Well, I guess that I better go. I have to get to bed since I have lots to do at work tomorrow. After this long as #2 in command, I've decided that I have absolutely NO desire to get into management. I'd rather keep my head (and backside) down in the trenches.

Take care all and I'll yak at ya later!

Dori :umbrella:

Hi Y'all,
I too am just checking in; I think it's been about 11 months since I posted on this thread, just 300 or so pages to catch up on....

Dori, my son Josh will be 13 1/2 at the time of the cruise (closer to 14); I think I requested early seating.

The cool news here is that the Magic is in town for drydock!!!! Woo Hoo! :cool1: Very cool seeing her on my way in to work this morning! Just 10 1/2 short months till we're up on that deck....

Just wanted to check in and let everyone know what Ive been thinking lately - thinking of cancelling the cruise. It really is alot of $ and Dave hasnt been paid for a few weeks. Did finally return to work this past Mon.
Wont cancel though until the last possible minute. May just take Jon & myself. Who really knows?
If we dont do the cruise we may do WDW for 2wks again. If Dave comes w/us we may do a wk at WDW and also visit SeaWorld and Universal while staying at WDW. Again who really knows?

Lets get through Christmas first

Hi everyone :grouphug:

Welcome to our new cruisers! I am looking forward to meeting you all, this cruise is going to be great! :sunny:

Dori, it is great to hear from you. I hope you're feeling better. You sound like the symptoms I had a few years ago when I had pneumonia! Get better soon!

Barb, hang in there! Don't make any changes until and unless you are totally sure about what you really want to do. :flower:

Have any of you started looking at airfare yet?? :teeth: We are now inside the 331 days-out time frame. lol I checked today and the airfare right now is not bad at all. Not great, but definitely not bad! Just not sure that we're ready to book it yet. Might wait a month or so, or at least until John and I get back from our adults-only trip later this month :)

I hope everyone is well, and again, WELCOME EVERYONE! :grouphug:

Not sure yet if we are going to fly down next August or drive, at least we still have plenty of time to make that decision.

My DD decided she would be so kind as to share her head cold with dear old dad. Angelina came home from school late last week not feeling well, by Monday morning I woke up with a stuffed up head. I'm just glad I didn't have to report back to work this past Monday!!!

I trust others that aren't feeling well, will start feeling better real soon!!!

Take Care All,

Andy

Hi All...I'm not cruising on this cruise, but thought instead of posting this on the main board I'll ask my buddies.

Does anyone know how to put the ticker factory tickers on my desktop?

Hope everyone is doing well.

My kids said yesterday that this school year is 1/10th over LOL so I said I would make a ticker

Enjoy this great weather everyone
