Hey gang! Sorry that I've been out of touch, but life has been rather berserk latey.

Sue - Happy belated birthdy. I guess that we'll both be at the dis-meet in spirit.

Andy - Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your knee again. I keep looking for a body-shop that will sell me a new body. If I run across one I'll let you know. LOL

Lisa - Late birthday greetings and good wishes to you too!

Doreen - Congrats to Daniel! Devin is quite a brain too. My problem with him is motivation. He would rather play around than do school work. I just had a discussion with him yesterday about how school is the training ground for the working world and he needs to work some on his 'work ethic'. I have another appointment with the periodonist on Wednesday. He thinks that he can repair my splint rather than having to replace it. (I destroy them by grinding so hard that I crack them - on both sides!) The doc is worried about my bite. It looks like I hit on the right side before I do on the left at this point. I have to clamp down hard to make the left side close tight. He's talking about me having an MRI on my jaw to see whether the joint on the right side is starting to deteriorate.

Carol - Welcome to our crazy little family!

Diane, Bev & Mary - Good luck in school. Glad that I'm done with school, at least in the formal sense. Being in the IT industry, my education never ends. The company requires us to do training on a regular basis to keep our skills up-to-date. (Ed should be familiar with that scenario, too.)

Tina - Glad that you had a great trip to Vegas. I hope to make a trip to the Grand Canyon sometime in the future as well.

Ginny - Sorry that your husband didn't get the job in Florida. I admire anyone that has the time and fortitude to put on a garage sale. I really should, but it's just so much easier to gather up the stuff I don't want anymore and donate it to the local Battered Womens Shelter here in town. They really appreciate it, because many women get out with only the clothes on their back.

Darlene - A trip to the Bronx zoo, huh? I've always wanted to visit New York. It's on my "Places to visit before I die list" as well.

Lyn - I haven't heard anything from DCL about the passport thing. But being so close to the Canadian border here, it was plastered all over our news this last week. It will also affect folks that want to travel up to Canada or down to Mexico.

Laura - Welcome to you too! I had to laugh about your son's "nickname" (stinkerboy). By the time Devin was three he had gained the nickname "booger", because he can be such a little 'educated donkey'. I have no idea where he gets it! :rolleyes1 (just both parents!)

Barb - Welcome! Gee, are we gonna have to call you guys Barb1 and Barb2, just to keep you straight? :rotfl:

To anyone else I missed - I hope that life is treating you well.

Now, I have something to say that I don't want to, but need to...
I'm afraid that I'm going to have to let you guys down. I'm not going to be able to make two different t-shirts for this group, it's just getting too large. I figured out that I would have to make about one t-shirt a day for the next year to cover everyone and I just don't see it happening. (I need time to sleep, work, clean house, etc.) I still plan to do the t-shirt for the Hurricane Frances survivors. (that's a much smaller group and I can pull that one off.) I would like to recommend we use the t-shirts that Andy designed as the 'official' t-shirts for the Cruisin' Castaways group. (Andy, can you post the link again?) I'm really sorry about this, I feel badly about pulling back my offer! :sad1:

Now to something lighter...
The rest of my office furniture is due to show up on Thursday. So, by the end of next weekend, I should have my home office completely set-up (except for the high-speed internet connection). I'm really looking forward to working from home full-time. I did it this last week, since Devin was on spring break from school. It really worked out well. (Especially since I spent most of the week fighting a moderate case of the flu. You should have seen my sitting at my desk wrapped up in a blanket the other day. But, I was able to get quite a bit done.)

Take care and I'll yak at y'all later!

Dori,

Good to hear from you, Glad the home office is comming together.
You are going to love the cable modem once you have it set up.

I think in IT its not so much that the education never stops, but we just absorb new things by touch or look. Its the nature of the beast we work with.

Dont feel bad about the Tee shirts, we are at 170 plus at this point and the way its going I'm still laying odds we will be at over 200 at this rate.

We were on a Western cruise in 03 with many DISers. One family bought lime green & light blue tshirts and sold them for our cruise (I believe $10 ea). They say "To be a kid again Disney cruise" w/the date. Not sure where he ordered them from. But we could all recognize each other which was nice.

He also had a newsletter emailed out several times before our cruise.

He brought a bubble machine and most of us were on Deck 10 looking down at the sailaway party as we left port.
That Mon (first sea day) we had a wine tasting party on the back of deck 7. We all brought a bottle or 2 onboard w/us and shared. Brought cheese platters from room service. May be an idea for us too?
In Cozumel we all got together for a DIS mini-golf tournament. Sally closed down her place except for us DISers.
In Grand Cayman we had a boat reserved for snorkeling.
Some of us sat together for a while at Castaway Cay.

Dori--the link has been in my signature ever since I first posted the design, I guess that no one has noticed it being there, and I didn't want to keep bringing mention to it. Here is the link that will take you to the Cafepress site where my design is: The Cruisin' Castaways 2006 (http://www.cafepress.com/castaways2006) As I said earlier, the link is also found in the bottom of my signature box.

WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW CASTAWAY CRUISERS!

Dori
Don't worry about the t-shirts, I'm sure everyone understands. And you are welcome to jump in on our Bronx Zoo trip. Glad to hear the home office is shaping up the way you want it too. Hang in there through the transition.

Ginny
Good going with the garage sale! That should pay for a lot of ice!!

Doreen
I hear that Ginny is buying all the ice with her garage sale money. Sounds like Jaclyn's birthday was wonderful. Was it her first time in a limo? I had my first ride in a limo when I was 40 years old, and that was just for a few short blocks taking us to Stan's swearing in as Deputy Chief.

Terry
I would love to have breakfast and see you all on the 24th but I don't think it is going to work out. I have tickets to the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theater in Delaware that afternoon. And Stan is taking Sandy to her Girl Scout Banquet. I will miss you all!

Andy
A weekend visit to Florida is the perfect gift to yourself!

Tina
I haven't had a chance to look at your pictures yet but I can't wait see them.

Later,

I clicked on that link thinking it would take me to a list of all of us with our cabin numbers and such.... maybe if you tweeked the name to read CruiseWear for the Cruising Castaways it would get more hits.

BTW Has anyone done a site for this cruise? We were suppose to sail on the repo cruise this May and someone did a great site that even showed where we all were staying.

I would be willing to put something together, it wold help me to catch up with everyone..... is there a master list of cabin assignments?

Ed--On our first two 7 day cruises, I made a design for t-shirts and made most of them myself using mainly white t-shirts, but there were many requests for the t-shirts to be put on different colors, which at times I had trouble getting. When I found CafePress, I thought this was the right answer, now anyone can choose the color and style of the items they like. Hazel and I already have our t-shirts in the lime green color t's, as you can see in the photo that Angelina just took of me with the t-shirt on. I was going to use Hazel to model the t-shirt, but she is ready for bed and didn't want to change, so I had to be the model, LOL!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :scared1:

Dori: Thanks for the luck! At the way things are going...I'm sure gonna need it. I have a final I'm SUPPOSE to be working on, but I'd much rather talk to you guys! Sorry to hear about your jaw. I hope you're not in a lot of pain. Don't worry about the T-shirts at all. It was nice of you to even consider it.

Andy: The design looks great! I like that we can order almost anything we want. I will definitely be buying a magnet for my stateroom door! I still have the one from our 2003 cruise on my fridge. We will miss you in Florida by one week. Too bad but I hope you have a Happy 50th!

DIANE>. hold up on buying a magnet.. BOBBY and CINDY made magnets for us on the last cruise,.. and all he asked for payments was a beer..lol they were in the shape of MICKEY MOUSE in the LIME GREEN and his kids loved finding all our cabins,,lol ( I think)...

Great modeling ANDY....ok who has the design pattern for these shirts.. I know DORI is doing a SILK SCREEN... with all the inks..but what PATTERN??? and what style?? DORI.. I need to send you a larger size tank.. so I will need an address and I bet Jaclyn will want a tank top as well... Let me know.

The design is mine and I sent it to them as a jpeg file. The designs are put on the shirts using iron-on transfers. I selected the other different items to have the design put on using products that I found on their website.

I'll be making white t-shirts for Hazel and I using my design and iron-on transfers as well. I couldn't buy any lime green t's from A.C. Moore, that's why I ordered my lime green t's from CafePress.

Doreen - Here's the design for the 'hurricane survivor' t-shirts.

http://www167.pair.com/rjmweb/albums/tee-Shirt-Designs/Lost_at_Sea.jpg

And here's the picture of Hurricane Frances that I used to make the design.

http://www167.pair.com/rjmweb/albums/tee-Shirt-Designs/Frances_5.jpg

Since the design is in black, white and shades of gray, I'm gonna let each of you pick the color that you want for the t-shirt. (I can even get lime green!) I can also get sizes up to XXXL (XXL & XXXL will cost a bit more, though).

Hey what about another "Survivor" tshirt? I can use a Survivor tshirt from our 02 Norwalk cruise - anyone else on this cruise that was suppose to be on that one? or affected during that time?

I was thinking last night that this cruise will cost too much. But then I talked myself back into it saying "I need a cruise with no unhappy memories associated with it" so Im going no matter what!

I just got home from work and I was pleasantly surprised. When DD Lindsay and I went to the Disney's "On the Record" in January, I ordered the CD which was supposed to be sent out in March. I forgot about it and today I received it in the mail. Can't wait to listen to it.

Seriously, give Jonathan time to explain what happened from his point of view. IMHO the school is not always right or at least the child is not always ALL wrong. I am sure you will both grow THROUGH the experience. If he were perfect he wouldn't need parents. Good thing he has you. Good luck on Wed. :grouphug:

Happy Tuesday Morning,

My car was hit by another car on my way to work this morning. Thankfully, no injuries, but my front fender was crushed. The neighbor two doors down from us backed out of her driveway and didn't see me pulling away from our house. I laid on the horn and stopped, but it was too late, she continued pulling out of her driveway. The poor girl was so upset, I told her as long as no one was hurt, that's the main thing. Hazel is on the phone with our insurance company right now.

VM... what a wonderful way to start a Tuesday! I have super spidey senses working overtime when I back out of our driveway. 1/2 the houses around here are all pulling out at the same time to take their kids to school. I swear we need a good car pool around here.

Today I have to call our accountant and beg him to do our taxes so late in the game. I finally have all the paperwork. I hate taxes! LOL

Oh Andy! Glad to hear noone was injured. Have a better afternoon. :flower:

I am home with Bryan DS 10 today. He has not felt well since Thursday. I thought over the weekend he would get to feeling better but no luck. I tried to get him to stay home yesterday but got all upset thinking of all the work he would have to make up. So I called his teacher and she talked to him about not having it due until when they get back from vacation. Suppose I should be happy he did not want to miss school but it is awful when they feel as though they can not stay home. What a rat race already for a 4th grader!!

Will sit and watch a movie with him, without his brother. Always positive in the lining somewhere.

The whole front fender (bumper) will need to be replaced since it is all one piece. The girl is in her early 20's. She had her daughter in thte car seat and she looked to be about 2 years old. The driver said she was running late for a doctor appointment and as she was backing out, she only looked once, that was a few seconds before I started pulling away from the house. The girl has already been in touch with her insurance company and told them the accident was her fault. A rep from her insurance company will be here in the next few days to look over the car. As luck would have it, the other car on suffered a few scratches to the back bumper.

We're having a good day here...the school nurse just called...Angelina is at the nurses office complaining of a sore throat and earache. Well, at least the car is here so Hazel can take Angelina to the doc this afternoon.

I'll tell you what...it's been quite chilly and windy walking around reading meters this morning. It feels like November instead of April. At least it is :sunny: and not :umbrella:.

Long story, but again, nothing at all serious or really bad. I just hate to cancel right now because we got such an excellent rate plus the onboard credit, got the exact cabins we wanted, etc and if we cancel and then decided we could go afterall, it'd cost so much more to rebook it. :sad2: I'm just feeling kind of down right now, and not sure what to do. :worried:  :sad2:

Hi everyone,

Terry - I'm really sorry to hear that you might have to cancel this cruise. It's over a year away. Hopefully things will work out and you can still go. If you don't have to cancel yet, maybe by waiting something will work out. :sad1: :wizard:

Andy - sorry to hear about the accident but glad you weren't hurt.

Doreen - my son learned to drive on my T&C mini van. I took him out and he took lessons from AAA and classroom instruction there too. He's also driven my SUV and is a good driver. I was terrified when I used to take him out to practice. He's had his license 2 1/2 years; has his own car; and is a tremendous help to me. He takes DD Lindsay to school for me; takes my mom on errands and doctor's appointments; and yes I still worry when he's out until he comes in. I understand how you feel.

Hi to everyone else that I didn't mention. Gotta go to school in a few minutes. We're having a test tonight.

Terry - I really hope that you don't have to cancel. We are all looking forward to meeting (or seeing you again) you.

Andy - I know that feeling. Glad that everybody is ok.

Everyone else - I will try to get back on soon. I do try to catch up every few days but my work is moving and we have had dance recitals and tomorrow is Kindergarten musical. It seems like there isn't a minute in the day. Hope all is well with everyone else and welcome to all of our new members. We are on the 5th floor and have main seating. Will be DH, DD(8), DS(6), MIL, SIL, and myself.

I have pictures from my last two cruises (one Wonder & one Carnival Glory) but I need to email you to be able to see them. If anyone wants to see them just PM me with your email and I will send an invitation.

I never went to the dentist in my life until the age of 24, that's when I started working for the township and got dental insurance, since getting the insurance, I've gone every six months for the past 26 years. Well, somtimes more when the dentist finds a cavity, or worse yet, I need a root canal done. :scared1: :scared: :faint:

Hello my cruise buddies,

How are you all, well I hope. Had a very busy day today as I had to do a 250 mile round trip to visit one of our new stores in Coventry England, thankfully the roads were good today with not to much traffic about and the weather was very kind to me.

Had good news from Vicki's school today, she gained a distinction in Office Tech and recieved a certificate which will help her to get into college. She also became the lead drum player with the school band. Pass me those headache tablets now, as she has to practice at home even more now, seriously though I am thrilled to bits. Mono isn't as easy to recognize as you may think. Don't feel bad. I did the same thing with my son (whose name is Brian!) when he was about 13. Now that Bryan is diagnosed you can take care of it. I remember feeling like such a "bad mom" because I hadn't diagnosed properly. I'll share with you what a doctor told me, "You are not the doctor, you're the mom and you are doing a good job."

Bev: Stan is doing ok. He is experiencing some minor side effects: fatigue, loss of taste, etc. But overall he is ok. The man goes to work every morning and takes off the afternoons he has treatment. God bless him.

My son (#3) is doing well. Preparing to transition into civilian life. He started a Basic EMT course yesterday. He wants to be a Paramedic. School was never easy for him and I am so proud of him for doing this. Keep him in your prayers. And all the boys and girls still overseas.

My Grandmom is "old". At least that is the diagnosis from her physician. We've had lots of bad nights with her and my poor mom is so stressed. And all the doctor can say is she is "old". Well, she is 91.

Hi everyone :wave2:

Thanks to everyone who sent me PMs, emails, and phone calls. I truly appreciated the concern :grouphug:

For now, we are not going to cancel. I am sorry if I caused anyone to worry; in a nutshell, DH and I panicked when we realized that next summer DS17 would be graduating high school and starting college (we don't even know yet which college), our insurance payments for DH's medical expenses just went up to $500/month which we just found out that day, etc etc.

Like I said, it was just not a great day and a lot of things hit us at once, and we thought, for the moment anyway, that it'd be prudent for us to just cancel that cruise. But after talking and putting things into perspective, we realize that there's no reason to think we won't be able to do the cruise next summer. :)

Home for lunch...Hazel just got back from taking the car to the auto body shop to get the parts ordered. Our car goes in Monday April 18th to get repaired. The insurance adjuster was out this morning to look the car over and gave us a check to get the car fixed and to have a rental car for two days. One little bump like that and the damage total was nearly $800.00, but like I said before, the important thing is that everyone was fine.

It all works out in the end. Glad you decided to wait a while longer to decide.

Terry - Im so glad you decided not to cancel
Ive also been considering not going through w/DCL. I mean there are lots of other cruiselines out there where we can get a verandah for less $. (We have until next June to pay in full or cancel. No decision needs to be made at this time.)

However, I cant get myself on a ship and not "know" anyone. DH is the kind that wants to sit on his verandah w/his book. Im the type that wants to get out and socialize (well at least to say hello) It will be nice to "know" some ppl before getting onboard ship.

I was recently debating whether or not to stick w/DCL. Im making an Aug itinerary and if we dont do DCL next summer we would be activating our APs earlier this Aug. I think Im going to wait. We would still get 11days from the APs in Aug - and waiting gives us more pool hopping time. What better time to take advantage of the DVC pool hopping priviledge than in Aug!

So are we back to making a MA/CT DISmeet? whatsup?

Hey gang - How's it goin'?

Terry - I'm so glad that you'll be able to sail with us again. It just wouldn't be the same without you. I understand perfectly about the money stuff. Somehow, my car always knows when I get my mechanic paid off. (It's times like that, that I know God has a sense of humor and he's :rotfl2: at me!)

Andy - Enjoy Florida. :sunny: I'm glad that your car was the only one hurt!

Mary - Glad that you've finally found out what was making Bryan sick. I can only imagine what you've gone through. Fortunately, Devin has always been extremely healthy. Nothing worse than a bad cold and a couple of ear infections in his entire life. I'm not sure how well I would handle it if he got really sick.

Darlene - I'm glad that Stan is handling chemo so well. I remember when my best friend was on chemo - some days were good, but others weren't. Tell Sandy congratulations for me. I'll keep your son in my thoughts and prayers. Even though he wasn't very good in school, it's amazing how well they can apply themselves when it's something that they really want. (I have a few family members and friends that have proven it to me.)

Sue - Sounds like it's time to stock up on earplugs and Tylenol! You may even want to buy stock in the company. :teeth: Give Vicky my congratulations.

Everyone Else - Hope that things are going well. :goodvibes :grouphug:

HI EVERYONE!

Sandy & I spent yesterday at a Girl Scout Day and had a good time. It was a little chilly to be outside all day but she earned a badge and did some neat crafts. Radio Disney was a huge disappointment. Won't go out of my way to see them again. Hugely unorganized and overrated.

Dori, thanks for thinking of DS#3 and his college class. Guess what? He earned a 93.5 on his test on Friday!! 6 chapters of material, including the human anatomy! I am so proud and happy for him. He did it all on his own, his beautiful wife was in FL looking for a house and interviewing for a job. I asked him how he decided to study and he said he just kept doing all the Practice Tests until he could get them right without looking at the book. Whatever works! He had a wonderful elementary school teacher who told me that he would be very successful once he was out of the traditional school system. And now he is a successful Marine, a successful husband, and looks like he will be a successful college student and move on to be a successful Paramedic.

Laura, sounds like you enjoy traveling as much as I do. We have a trip to VA for a friend's son's college graduation in May. A few day trips after that until school is out. Then in July Sandra and I will be in Cape May for a week. We will be in CA at DL in August and then board the Magic for a 2 week cruise through the Panama Canal to FL. Then we will spend Labor Day weekend at BCV. By then I will be out of vacation days until Jan but will take weekend or day trips. Girl Scout camping will be in Oct.

Gotta go, everyone else. Take care. Hope everything is going well.

Hi All,

We are suffering from DCL withdraw and are considering on making a change to this summer's vacation plans. We are looking at the possibility of taking a 4 day cruise on the Wonder in August, and maybe still doing a couple days at WDW. I'm getting out my DVC Vacation Planner book and seeing what we can work out. Last night at dinner(family meeting time), Angelina said she would much rather take a 4 day cruise on the Wonder instead of spending 6 nights at WDW. I've got to get busy so Hazel can make a call to DVC on Monday.

WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!! I just ask DH what he thought about me taking the girls to Disneyland this August and he said go for it with one request... I find someone to watch boy for a couple of hours here and there while we are gone.

Tickled PINK!! But also nervous. DD6 is tall enough to ride just about everything, but DD4 needs to grow another 1 or 2 to be able to get on Indy... LOL She is hovering at 40 1/2 inches barefooted....

ANd then there is the question of weather (not the right spelling for this version of weather, but I can never figure out the right spelling of it for this meaning... lol) or not I can handle the girls 24/7 on my own. DH and I are really a team. Does Disneyland offer kids clubs too???

I am sooo jazzed. As much as I love WDW... Disneyland was my first love. I have been to Disneyland well over 300 times in my childhood. I cant wait to take the girls ont he storybook boats and on the Materhorn. But I have been reading the DL boards and soooo much has changed there....

I CANT WAIT!!!!!

If all goes according to plan, we have selected the 4 day Wonder leaving August 14th, then will be spending 3 nights at WDW after the cruise. Hazel will be calling DVC MS after she drops the car off at the auto body shop on Monday. This will be our first time on the Wonder after three cruises on the Magic.

Just got word that our Norwegian Dawn cruise out of NY for tomorrow is postponed! The Dawn hit severe weather off Cape Hatteras last night & a rogue wave broke 2 cabin windows. At least 4 people were injured & 62 cabins were flooded. I understand that people are camped out in the Atruim. I'm just glad nobody was severly injured! They went to Charleston for repairs & should then be heading to NY tomorrow. NCL is saying we will leave Monday at the earliest. Lots of buzz on the cruise critic boards!

Thanks for posting that Andy! We are scheduled to leave NY tomorrow afternoon. We were a bit disappointed to have our cruise cut short by a day & I guess we will be skipping their private Island Great Stirrup Cay, but I can't complain. I can't imagine what it was like to be sailing during that storm! At least we are going & the weather looks to be beautiful all week.

I hope you have a great cruise on the Wonder in August!!!

Hope everyone else has a great week, especially if you're on vacation like us! Be healthy!

Hazel and I did a 4 night cruise on the Magic this past January. It was the special sailing to get the Magic back on schedule after the 10 day Christmas Cruise. We both enjoyed the four day cruise and said we wouldn't mind doing it again, except this time it would be on the Wonder instead of the Magic. We just have to wait until Monday and see what, if anything, is available with using DVC points and cash.

Barb--Will know more on Monday, but we are looking at staying at the Port Orleans Resort for three nights after the four day cruise. We will still be able to make the meet at the Trail's End on Friday night August 19th, as we won't be checking out of WDW until Sunday morning.

Terry--Yes, this will be the best of both worlds as long as we can get everything worked out!!!

Andy - I hope things work out for you with the WONDERful cruise. I'm glad the dinner is still on at Trail's End on the 19th. In case I forget. Happy 50th  I'm not always on line except for when we were trying to reach 200 pages. Now that we're shooting for 500 by the 19th, I'll have to get on more. :rotfl:

Congrats to Vicki and Sandra. Great job.

Mary - hope Bryan is feeling better.

Terry - I'm so glad you decided not to cancel the cruise yet and hopefully not at all :dancer:

Today was such a beautiful :sunny: day in Philly I decided to go to Atlantic City with DD Lindsay princess: . While going over the Betsy Ross Bridge, I heard a noise like I drove over something. As we got to the bottom of the bridge, I was hearing other weird noises so I pulled over to the side of the bridge/road and discovered I had a flat tire. I called AAA but didn't know exactly where to tell them I was. I was a little nervous waiting for them. Anyway, about 65 minutes later they found me and changed my tire. We ended up going to Cherry Hill Mall instead. Tomorrow, I'll have to buy a new tire. I don't even have 6000 miles on my car yet. :sad2:

Bev ::MickeyMo

Disney uses a point based system. You get an allotted amount of poiints a year (min buy in from Disney is 150 points) Different times of the year, different resorts, Sunday-thursday less points than Friday and saturday, different sized units all cost different amount of points. You can get a studio on low season at OKW Sun-Thurs for as low as 8 points a night.... all the way up 158 points for a Grand Villa at the BoardWalk Villas for ONE saturday night over Christmas. Most are in between <grin>

You can bank and or borrow points from one year to another... so if you only want to hit the World every other year you can bank your 150 to the next year and book a stay using 300 points...

The DVC board here on the DIS is great.... The FAQ at the top of the fourm is filled with great info.

Things didn't go quite according to plan today, so it looks as though we will keep our Fort Wilderness ressie for August. The only cabin that was available to sleep four people was a cat. 4 and the price was just way too much for me. I can be very frugal at times, and this was one of those times. LOL!!!

We're still looking forward to our stay at Fort Wilderness!!! :cool1:

Was thinking of cancelling our 8/19 cruise and booking Easter 2006 on the Norwegian Dawn out of NY. It was a 10 night to the Eastern Caribbean for a few hundred dollars more (and a balcony stateroom) than this cruise. BUT now I am having second thoughts after what happened. Wonder if it is the fault of the captain for taking the ship into the storm instead of getting back a day late (and losing money) by keeping the ship in calm waters. What do you all think?

Have been reading this board for a while and finally decided to take the plunge and register. We (DH, DD -8yrs when cruising, and myself) will be joining you on the 08-19-2006 Cruise. We were not on the 2004 cruise but we did get "stuck" in Disney World for a few extra days at the time you were "stuck on the ship" So I feel that we may have a little in common.
This is our first cruise so I have gained a wealth of info from you guys.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!!

I got to work this morning, and my work car was all decorated with Happy 50th Birthday Wishes from my co-workers. I got a good laugh out of that, I just wish I had my camera so I could have gotten a few photos. It took me over ten minutes to get all the decorations off, the car windows were plastered with signs.

I just arrived home a few minutes ago for lunch, and Hazel had the front of the house and the living room all decorated with "Over the Hill" signs and balloons. Will take some photos of them later, Hazel is taking me out to lunch for my birthday so I have to get a move on it.

Ed--no we decided to stick with the Fort Wilderness plans. The only cabin that was available for the four of us was a cat. 4 for over $6000.00, a little too much for a four day cruise.

Hi All,

Had a very nice flight to Orlando. I sat next to a woman whose daughter is a CM in the Magic Kingdom, I guess you know we talked about Disney the entire flight. She also shared that she has visited the DIS on occasion since her DD became a CM this past January. Her DD is part of the college intern program. It was quite funny, this woman was sitting next to me in Philly airport and she had on a black pant suit with lime green stripes running through it and also had on a lime green blouse and reading a WDW book. I asked her if she was a DIS member, she said no, then asked why. I told her I thought she might have been because she had so much lime green on and she was reading the WDW book. We had a good laugh about that. She was in line behind me as we boarded the plane and she asked if it was allright if she could sit next to me. I had on my Vero Beach shirt, my DVC baseball cap and pulling my Mickey carry-on bag. I guess she figured I was as much a Disney nut as she was, LOL!!!

That two hour flight just flew by, no pun intended!!!

Well dear folks, it's 1:30am, and I need to get some shut-eye. Believe it or not, we have to take my mom's friend to the Orlando Airport tomorrow evening so she can catch a flight to Vegas to visit her daughter. My mom and I are hoping to get down to visit Shirley at her shop Saturday morning. We might even hang around and try to get some shots of the Magic as it sails away.

Will check in later,

Thanks for the birthday greetings Bobby, and I hope you're feeling better real soon!!! We had Angelina to the doctors twice this week because of her allergies, it's really bad right now. Yesterday as I was walking around reading water meters my eyes starting burning and I started sneezing something terrible, and usually I don't have too much trouble in the Spring.

They are some amazing photos of that cruise ship, wow, is all I can say!!!

It's a beautiful morning here today in Lake County, Florida!!! I think I'm going to fix myself a cup tea and go sit out side for a little while.

Catch up with y'all later :wave2:

This photo cracks me up.... we should play the caption game with it.... Bert... Its a hole.... No, it's a gash, I think it is more like a slice.... My vote is for a gash..... DO we have bandaides that big??? Would neosporin help??

Now.... would you opt to sail back to NO on her??? Or would you fly back?? DH said he would fly back.... he figures the repairs will be made quickly and shortcuts would be taken.....

I bet there was some cursing going on at the helm! LOL

Wow! What a big group going on this cruise! I booked this about a week ago. We are going on our first cruise on May 1, 2005 (4-night Wonder) and I KNOW we will love it.

AAA had a group rate for this cruise, so we got a Category 6 for $5080. I thought that was pretty good! I just found out, though, that DS will have to miss the first 3 days of school for this trip. What the heck - it'll only be 10th grade! :confused3

Anyway, on the cruise will be me(46 at the time of sailing), DH (45), DS(15) and DD(12). Wow! My kids will be so old by then! :earseek:

This seems like a nice group. I did not yet get a chance to read all of the posts. Are there plans for a DIS get-together onboard?

Kath1210: Welcome aboard Kathy and family. It will be myself and DH sailing this time without the kids. My DS is 14 and my DD is 11. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.........I think when you cruise next month you could re-book your cruise on board and get a 10% discount and 200.00 on board credit. Since you just booked this cruise you might save more money. :teeth:

Uh, we are just getting home from a lovely 2-day mini vacation. Tim took 2! yup 2 whole days off. All 4 of us went to Seabrook NH and stayed at the Hampshire Inn. We swam, swam, chatted, talked and just hung out as a family with no phone calls, no work, no company over. We had a great time! :cool1:

Hi Mary - I believe the Hampshire Inn is right down the street from the Best Western in Seabrook - right off the highway?

Jonathan & I do the 6night pkg there every summer. I do it to break up 2 summer wks - usually Th to Wed. Cant beat the price! I believe it's $420ish - cont brkfst. Animals, kiddie rides, waterslide. Need to take their trolley (or drive) to the beach though - cant walk.

Yes Kathy you are correct. We have stayed there several times now. It is just far enough away without being too far. It takes about 2 1/2 hours for us to get there. Like this trip we stop in Portland at the mall to break it up.

For another get a way we also enjoy Embassy Suites right by the Portland (Maine) Jet Port.

How far from Seabrook are you?

Hi All,

Kath1210--Welcome Aboard Mates to the Cruisin' Castaways 2006 Cruise!!!!

I'm sitting here on the computer in the back room of Shirley's shop "The Perfect Gift." Shirley said to say hello to everyone on the DIS!!!

My mom and I will be returning to her place later this afternoon, then will begin our drive to NJ on Sunday morning.

I tried getting on the boards later yesterday morning and early afternoon but didn't have any luck. We came down to Merritt Island last evening and spent the night at my cousin's house, then had breakfast at Zachary's that is next to the Radisson. My mom and I surprised Shirley with our visit, she had no idea we were in the area, the look on her face, when she saw us, was priceless!!!

Another picture perfect day here on the coast. I nearly cried as I saw the Magic in port and knowing I wasn't getting to board her for a while. There was an article in the local paper this morning about the Magic heading for California. I picked up a copy of the newspaper, but haven't had time to read the whole article yet.

Well guys, I guess that's all the news for now. Shirley is busy working on baskets because she is trying to get out of the shop early today.

Bye for now,

Andy

Sue - I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. Have fun on your girls weekend. I need one of those myself.

Tina - Hope all is well. PM when you have a chance and let me know what is going on. We need to get together with Doreen and plan a day.

My sister was at WDW this week - I was so jealous!!! I wan't to be there!!! We are probably going to FL in August to see my mother's new place in Venice, FL - I keep trying to figure out a way to afford to go to WDW for a few days. It would be perfect because it would be when everybody else is there. I don't know if we can swing it though. We just got approved for a home equity loan to put enlarge our garage and put in a driveway and a front porch so I think that we are going to be pretty tapped out by then. Time will tell.

Welcome aboard to everybody that has joined us recently.

Kept thinking thats still a long time to go,
So I dug our Dept 56 Disney Village out of storgae and set it up for a taste of Disney, and to help build the fun for my dd.

In case your missing Disney too here are a few photos of my Village

Ed--really enjoyed looking at the Disney Village!!! Of course seeing the Disney Magic on Saturday and knowing I wasn't getting back on her until August of 2006 was quite sickening.

My mom and I arrived back here to my house around 11:30 this morning. We drove until 12:30 last night then stopped and got a few hours sleep and we were back on the road at 8am this morning. I'm so glad that drive is over with. I'm trying to talk my mom into taking the auto train back to Florida. She would exit the train about 30 minutes from where she lives. It's after taking these kind of trips that I'm glad there are flights available to take to and from Florida, LOL!!!

I'll check back later, I still have many messages to check, and I want to get them finished before Angelina arrives home from school.

Just back from our "6" day cruise on the Dawn. Even though we were short a day due to the wave hitting the week before...I can't complain. We had beautiful weather & the capt'n decided to skip Miami & go to their private island Great Stirrup Cay. I'm glad because we can do Miami anytime but I really wanted a beatiful Bahama Beach day & we got it! This is our second time sailing her & she is a beauty. I especially love the choice of 10 restaurants & eating anytime we wish. The staff is great, the food is good & the mini-suite is very similar to a cat. 6, but when I saw the Wonder pull in next to us in Nassau....I was really homesick for the Magic! Of course any cruise is better than a day on land! When I got home yesterday I couldn't believe I had to make my own cup of tea! Reality stinks!!!

Andy: hope your 50th was grand! Loved the pics!!

Diane: Glad you were able to still go on your cruise and you had :sunny: weather. How does the private Island compare to Castaway Cay ? Tina

Honestly Tina there is no comparison. Don't get me wrong, I love going to the beach & just about any beach will do, but Great Stirrup Cay does not hold a candle to Castaway Cay and I'll tell you why. First it's very small. Everyone crowds onto a little strip of sand. You have to take tenders over & that requires standing in line for tender tickets. We opted to wait until noon time when the called "on your own service". By then there was no wait for tenders & we headed over to an area that was relatively quiet, with plenty of chairs, but also a bit rocky. When we walked down the cement walk-way, it was covered in sand & debris & I said to my DH, "if this was Disney, this walk-way would be painted & swept clean". They do have a barbeque, band, bars, shops, but only one bathroom (it was big but a pain to walk to). There is word that they have sand fleas & although I never saw any, we did end up with a few tiny bites.

Just had to log on and tell you that I booked my flights today, for this cruise, got a great deal as they only came out this week, we fly into Orlando on August 17th 2006, we will spend 2 nights in a hotel somewhere(no idea where yet)7 days cruise, then 5 days back on Disney soil somewhere.

They also had premium gold seats available and as we fly out on Vickis 16th birthday and she will have just finished sitting her very importent GCSE exams, I thought it would be rude not to book them, would,nt it. :rotfl2:

Terry: where do you fly Delta from? This Aug Jonathan & I will be flying Song from Hartford direct - (usually we go Delta from Providence but then there's a change in Atlanta)
Jonathan & I are planning on flying down Aug 12, 2006 - spend Sat-Fri at WDW. (thats why we're waiting to activate our APs this Aug). Dave will fly down Fri, rent a car, pick us up and we'll drive over to the port. Most likely will stay at the Radisson again.

Barb: We always fly out of Logan (Boston) because it's the closest airport to us (Boston is only about a half hour away), and Delta/Song has non-stops flights directly to Orlando.

We'll definitely be flying down at least the day before the cruise, and stay at the Radisson again. That worked out really well for us last year and it gave a lot of us DISers the opportunity to meet.

This flight was much better then the first one we took, I guess because I knew what to expect. I was also fifth in line in Group A, so I boarded very early. I'd fly with Southwest again. Our flight did leave 40 minutes late, but we did make up most of that time in the air, as we landed just 5 minutes after our scheduled arrival time.

Hey All! I figured that I better check in.

Sorry to be out of the loop, but as crazy as my life normally is... the last 10 -12 days have gone over the top. (Andy, I'm with you I want to run away with Mickey NOW!!!!)

We have a deadline for work at the end of the week. I ended up putting over 60 hours last week to make sure that we'd make the deadline. (I worked all of last weekend - ICK! Sometimes I hate being salaried. All I have to say is that I better get a decent bonus out of it.)

My high-speed internet went in on Monday. I love it. SOOOOOO much better then dial-up. It's part of the reason I haven't been able to keep up with the board - I didn't have enough bandwidth from home to have the board up on top of all the windows I have to have open to do my job properly. (Not a problem now, though. So , I should be able to keep in touch better.) I felt so sorry for the technician that did it for me, it took him about 4.5 hours to get in in and working properly. More than half of it was spent trying to get my work laptop to talk to the router. There ended up being two different problems. The wireless network card in the laptop was old enough (3-4 years old now) that it wasn't talking to the router. The guy a sweetheart and threw in a new wireless card without charging me for it. The other issue was that there appears to be two other wireless networks in my neighborhood. He changed the frequency setting on the router (there are 11 channels) and that cleared up the interference. Now I'm high-speed and wireless - woo hoo!

Yesterday was an absolute fiasco! I woke up with a splitting headache that wouldn't go away. So, I was late starting my workday. Then to top it off, what was supposed to be a 15 minute rescue mission to jump-start my brother's truck turned into a 2+ hour long comedy of errors... don't ask! As a result I had to work until nearly 9 PM last night to get my time in.

I am SOOO in need of a vacation at this point, but am going to have to wait until Devin and I head down to Disneyland the last week of July. (Although I am take one day off next week to go Mother's Day shopping with my Mom. It's been a while since we've been able to run off, just the two of us. It should be a good time. Shopping and lunch - can't get much better than that!)

Well, I better get back to work... after I go track down some lunch.

Bev: There were railings missing from the front of the ship when we boarded, we saw them working while we were in Nassau, & by the time we disembarked in NY the railings were back in place. I guess the 2 employee jacuzzi's were swept right off the ship, but they didn't appear to be in any hurry to fix them. I also heard that if you went down to deck 9 you would've seen where they were fixing carpet etc. but we never ventured down there.

Mary: Also sending wishes for Bryan's good health!

Sue: I can't believe you got airfare already...that's terrific!

Terry: I think we will be booking Song too. They seem to have the best rates out of Boston. We may go to Disney for a few days first. We did an excursion on this past cruise to the Holiday Inn Cocoa Beach & my kids loved it! They had a pirate themed kid's pool, hair-brading, & even ceramics. I was planning to stay at the Raddison the night before but I'm starting to consider the Holiday Inn for a couple of days. Maybe we'll do the Radisson before & the Holiday Inn after instead of rushing right back home to Boston! Hmmmm decisions decisions!

Dori: It's good to "see" you! I'm sorry you had such a lousy day yesterday, between the headache and all the time it took to help your brother with his truck. I'm glad you're enjoying your new faster, wireless internet connection! :)

Diane: We've had very good experiences with Delta/Song and Logan so far, so we're sticking with them. I know a lot of people go down to T.F.Green, but it's actually a longer drive to get there than Boston, for us. Hey, you never know, we could end up on the same flights if our plans match up. :earboy2: I still don't know for sure exactly what our plans will be, for before and after the cruise. At the very least, we'll be flying in the day before, and most likely staying at the Radisson. We practically took over the lobby last year, and I have a feeling that we'll be an even bigger group next year! :) I can't believe we still have over a year to go. :earseek:

We rented a car from Avis to get us from the airport to the Radisson back in 03. Met another DIS family there for dinner, swimming (and they took Jon for the night!)

Happy Birthday Darlene - hope you have a Magical Day :Pinkbounc

Im on hold w/Disney Dining at the moment - want to ask about Trails End Aug 19th - IF we need to give a credit card how do you want to go about this? How many of us have either DDE or AP discount? I have both - thinking we can use my DDE disc & Jon's AP since the cards need to be in diff names.

Its almost May 1st - May 15th (day Jon becomes a teenager) I get to start calling Disney Dining every morn for 14 days!

man i sent this once, ripped up my notes and had to piece them back together!

anyways while on hold they called Shirley at Disney dining for me 407-939-7707

the largest table at Disney dining is 6, they can reserve up to 12

we could go thru disney dining and 2 of us reserve tables for 12 or go through disney dining and 4 of us reserve tables for 6

no matter who we book through they dont guarantee tables will be together
we would need to reserve four tables of 6

can apply DDE and APs - person w/card would need to pay the bill and be reimbursed from the others

if we reserve thru grp dining they automatically put add a 10% gratuity

have 48hrs prior to cancel grp dining or person is charged - how do we get a hold of one another if we're already at WDW?

Darlene - Happy Birthday!

Sue - Have a great trip!

Here's something one of my friends emailed me this morning.
This is for the ladies in the group. Enjoy!

Dear All,

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago. It was just that quick. I went to sleep in my body and woke up with someone else's thighs. The new ones had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Who would have done such a cruel thing to legs that had been mine for years? Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine? I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs. Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in trousers and Sheer Energy tights.

Then, just when my guard was down, the thieves struck again. My bum was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear end (although badly attached at least three inches lower than my original) to the thighs they stuck me with earlier. Now, my rear complemented my legs, lump for lump. Frantic, I prayed that long skirts would stay in fashion.

It was two years ago when I realized my arms had been switched. One morning I was fixing my hair and I watched horrified but fascinated as the flesh of my upper arms swung to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was really getting scary. My body was being replaced one section at a time.
How clever and fiendish.

Age? Age had nothing to do with it. Age is supposed to creep up, unnoticed, something like maturity. NO! I was being attacked repeatedly and without warning. In despair, I gave up my T-shirts. What could they do to me next?

My poor neck disappeared more quickly than the Thanksgiving turkey it now resembled.

That's why I decided to tell my story. I can't take on the medical profession by myself. Women of the world, wake up and smell the coffee!

That really isn't plastic that those surgeons are using. You KNOW where they are getting those replacement parts, don't you?

The next time you suspect someone has had a face "lifted", look again. Was it lifted from you?

I think I finally found my thighs... and I hope that Cindy Crawford paid a really good price for them!

This is not a hoax. This is happening to women in every town, every night.

WARN YOUR FRIENDS!

P.S. I must say that last year I thought someone had stolen my breasts. I was lying in bed and they were gone! As I jumped out of bed I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept.
Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

Well while I was snoozing seems as though you all were keeping it lively on here. :rotfl:

How is Bryan feeling? Better, did a 1/2 day again today and only took a 1 hour nap instead of the 3 or 4.

How am I feeling? So much better after I got home from work and slept from 4:30 until 8:00 tonight; oh my. I was just tired, I DO NOT have Mono ;) :guilty:

Have to say how wonderful my children are and Kyle's best friend are. I woke up to a picked up house, floor swept and washed, dishwasher running and supper being prepared!! Gotta give them credit.

Everyone have a good evening, not sure when I am going to bed :hourglass

:cake: HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DARLENE :bday:

I hope it was a great one... Today is DANIELS birthday the BIG 12.... To be young again....

Well the CURSE still follows me and I cant seem to dig my way out of it.. If you want to hear my sad tale read on if not .. fast forward to the next post.

I cashed my 2- WEEKS worth of check this past MONDAY and deposited only a minor portion of it... since it is DANIELS bday I needed cash to buy his gifts and have a part for food for the next two weeks... well some one took it from my purse at SCHOOL.. the whole ENVELOPE of MONEY.... We called the SHERIFFS but with out a witness... I am out of luck...
Oh it gets better.. On WEDNESDAY.. I am opening a can at school. since I work in the CAFE... and the can was really crushed... well the can popped opened and slashed my hand just under my thumb and I was taken to the ER for several STITCHES... on the left HAND...

I NEED A VACATION NOW>>>>>> :grouphug: so that is why I have not been on in some time. I have had a string of bad luck and not in a good mood.. Please send pixie dust and prayers to us. DANIEL is so good about waiting for a birthday gift till I get paid again.. I do have great kids... and love them so much... I miss you all... and will be back on here soon when my life gets in a better mood.. keep the laughs coming... I need them..

Doreen
