Thanks for all of the good wishes! We're running around getting ready for tomorrow, but we did go to "our special place" for lunch.
Diane: What grade will you be teaching?
Lori
Hi Lori!
Right now I assist in a kindergarten classroom but I will be student teaching in a 1st grade classroom in the fall so I want to hold off on making any final decisions until after that. I may not even stick with early ed. I just don't know yet. There is so much to consider & so very much responsibility. I'm not sure I can take it all on at the ripe age of 43! :confused3
Thanks for asking!

Happy 4th July! Hope the weather is good!
Today not good here, very warm but very wet (surprise, surprise!) :rotfl:
Terry, loved the photos! Hope John and Craig are feeling better. Great to put faces to names! :goodvibes
Tina, talk away! It's a part of life and it is better sometimes to be able to talk to those who are not directly involved.
Doreen, love the necklace!! Is that Lia Sophia? Is that only based in the US or is it worldwide?
:cheer2: Welcome Elaine! Yep, we're cruising for the first time too! :cheer2:
Lori, missed it yesterday but Happy Anniversary!
Linda, I hope you see some light at the end of the tunnel financially... not easy I know.
Denise (Aurora's Mommy), Sometimes people like to go on power trips... you can be the bigger person and let them be childish! Hope things are improving on the work front.
Hello other two Denise's as well!
Ed, are you in any of the photos?
Enough for now! Must do some work...
Moira. :sunny:

Ah Terry so you Do indulge ocassionally and I see the picture proves itl Was that the blue martinis/varnish martinis you were talking about yesterday? Where the heck did I get the idea that you didn't drink? Not that it matters of course, just an odd assumption on my part. Must be because we often met up over fancy coffees! Can't wait to meet at Cove Cafe again friend!
Now back to trying to remove Olive Oil from my hair Ugh! Stay tuned!
Mary Rose
Yes, that was the nasty-tasting varnish-tasting blue martini I was telling you about! blech! But they looked so pretty we (my sisters in law and I) didn't want to stop drinking them. The more we sipped them, the better we thought they tasted. :rotfl: They were quite strong!!!
We had stopped into the martini bar before dinner to get a drink. We ended up giggling all through dinner that night and I never did get the formal pictures taken during that cruise (Royal Caribbean cruise) that I wanted. :rolleyes1 And this was all because of 1 very strong, gross tasting, but pretty, drink!
I don't drink a real lot, but I do like to indulge in the occasional adult beverage! :teeth:
And I still can't believe that several of you thought I don't drink at all... LOL Here's some more proof, from the DCL cruise in 2004:

I am getting sooooo tired of all these T-storms that we have been getting. It was so nice and sunny before. :sunny: DS and his gf left this morning to go to Wildwood for the day. They wanted to watch the fireworks on the :beach: Now it's getting so cloudy and the weather guy is calling for more severe T-storms tonight. Of course I worry until they get home.
Now I really feel old. The other day I rented a movie "Rumor has it". Did anyone see it? Basically they keep referring to the movie "The Graduate" which I really liked but DD, DS and GF had no idea what "The Graduate" is. They don't know who Anne Bancroft or Dustin Hoffman is either.

Looks like everyone has been quite busy and having some great times! :sunny: Glad you all had fun at your meet--looks like alot of fun!
Getting ready to head out to my folks for a picnic dinner and then off to see the fireworks!! :wizard:
Andy--Just a thanks for the transfers--got them yesterday--I may pm you with a question. Yes I still need to get you a pic and mail your money due for everything along with it. I will try to work on finding a pic tomorrow and get that out to you right away. Thanks again! :sunny:
Ed-- Please wish Caitlain a belated Happy 9th from us! Our Dd will be turning 9 the day before we leave so we have a 9th celebration coming up too! I sent you a pm a while back with a name change for one of the magnets---Did You get that?? Just let me know and I will get payment off to you too.
Can hardly believe this cruise is coming up so fast :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
I don't remember who this would go to but we would be interested in some of the pens maybe 6 or so. Just let me know who to send payment to and also for the Leis too.
FYI: We just booked the Fury Catamarn Snorkle in Cozumel the other day and I know there are a few going on here---our DD has been practicing in the pool with her new snorkel equip and says she would love to do it. I'm kinda excited because DH and I have been on a few catamaran snorkle trips but in the way past if you know what I mean---so we know how fun they can be. If anyone has any info on this that they know of lately we would love to hear. Also I think I read where it would be good to bring your own food from the ship for lunch but thought I read a thread from a trip report made just a few days ago that you could'nt take food from the boat on this excursion??? Can anyone shed any light??
Well, hope you all have a wonderful Independence celebration and thanks for everyone's help!! :sunny:

Thanks to a special friend  it took alot of courage to talk with Chuck tonight about the cruise. I was just ready to cancel. The guilt was laying heavy on my heart. :sad1: The only way I can explain it is I feel the need to have her blessing in a way or know it's o.k if we go. So ONLY if Mom is having a good day tomorrow Chuck will talk to her about it. Chuck also told me Mom picked out something special she wants me to have and wrote out a card and he's bringing it home. Good morning everyone :wave2:
Welcome back, jweiss!! :)
I realize that I have a few people (families) to add to Page 1, and I'll try and get around to it soon.
Doreen: Craig said you called, he didn't say that you were representing AA in any capacity though. :teeth: We had company over for a BBQ yesterday so John and I were out picking up steaks when you called.
I have a second interview with one of the companies I've interviewed with, today at 11am. This job is for slightly less pay, and only 30 hours. Con: less take-home pay each week. Pro: Seems like it'd be a MUCH more managable transition to go to, from being a stay at home mom for the last 18+ years! Last week I interviewed with 2 HR people. Today they want me to interview with the woman I'd be directly working with, and they want to show me around the department. Sounds promising, but I'm not counting my chickens yet. lol

I hope that everyone had a great 4th! The weather here was mixed - some rain in the mornings and really humid. Then yesterday was just beautiful! Sorry to those on the east coast, since we sent the storms your way.
I spent most of Monday night designing our door magnet and I finally succeeded! It took both my DH and I, a web design program called Fireworks and a lot of learning on my part, but its done! I'd post a pic for you all, but I don't know how ...
Has anyone done any shopping yet for the cruise? I went out over the weekend since it seems like a lot of clearance sales were going on for the holiday. Anyone score any really good deals?
Only 66 days until we sail!
Denise
P.S. Tina - we'll take a couple of pens (4) if it is not too late. Let me know how much I owe you for them.

Welcome back cuz. Jennifer, it'll be nice to finally meet you and your family.
We're planning a reunion cruise next year on the Explorer of the Seas. PM me for more details.
Tina - yes, please put me down for the hot pink pens. :rotfl:
Doreen - I brought the book into work today and it disappeared. I last saw it on a table in the breakroom so I'm hoping someone took it to order jewelry.
For everyone who had a bar-b-que yesterday, I hope the weather held up for you.

Yay! I went on the second interview today and met with the woman that I'll be directly working for. She showed me around the offices and explained in more detail what my job would entail. I really felt very comfortable there; they even have a computer with INTERNET CONNECTION set up in the breakroom so people can go online during their breaks and lunch! Ok, I can deal with that! LOL
The HR woman called me this afternoon and offered me the job. She's going to over-night the offer package to me, and I start on Monday! :cool1: This job seems like a perfect fit for me, and it seems to be a very nice group of people. Now to go through my closet and collect all of my business clothes. lol

I was off the computer for two days and you guys exploded. I'm pretty low on that posting list - I guess I better catch up.
Terry - Congrats on the job. I think 30 hours a week would be great. A good transition from an occasional day to every week. As long as you tell them that you will be gone for 10 days or so in August.
I felt like I had so much time for this cruise and now I am starting to feel like I need to hurry up and start getting things done for the cruise. My niece is getting married on the 22nd and her bachlaurette(?sp) is this Saturday. That is going to take up a lot of my time between now & the 22nd.
Welcome to all of the new additions - we get bigger by the day. Doreen - sorry that Jacyln won't be coming but it will be nice to meet two of your sisters. Do you have any other sisters or is that?
We had storms all weekend - lost power for 6 hours on Sunday.

Doreeen - Zack is going to day camp in Constantia for a week. He is really only a cub scout but my husband is an assistant scout master so Zack goes with him a lot.
Diane - Don't even get me started, the weight just keeps going up and up and my options for what I am going to wear on this cruise just keeps going down and down. Of course I only use a third of everything I bring anyway so I don't know why I bother.
I am getting a summer cold and I hate them. When I have a cold I want to lay in bed curled up under the blankets and I don't think that will work this week. Oh well, at least they usually don't last as long. Talk to everybody tomorrow.

Just had the main floor (mstr bed, mstr bath, kitchen, dining/living, den, front bath) painted. Now its time for new curtains, etc and perhaps a new floor!
Only 5 more weeks and we're off for our 2wks in WDW.

I did check the pricing the other day as a matter of fact, it was like $2,997 for the three of us in an inside cabin. However, Angelina will be getting her driver's license next year and we already promised her that we would help her get a car and pay for her first year of car insurance, and living in NJ, that isn't going to be cheap!!! Our car insurance is already going to be higher because of Hazel's accident last month, I'm not looking forward to when our new car insurance premiums begin in December. :sad2:

Or color, we spell it colour

For all of you who read my rant last week about my work frustrations, thanks for listening, the kind words, and just a quick update. My supervisor has been informed of the error of his ways, and he has rectified the situation, so things are vastly improved.
Now, on to the topics that are so near and dear to many of us: Dieting and shopping! I have finally come to terms with the fact that that last 10 pounds is not going to come off before the cruise and so I have begun shopping for new clothes. I went to buy a bathing suit last weekend :crazy2: Everything is really picked over, so I decided to go mail order. So, I lock myself in my room with a tape measure, catalog, and a box of tissues. Now, I didn't expect to be pleased, but, omigosh, my chest measurement didn't even register on the measurement chart! :sad2: I can't even fill a size 6! Needless to say, the hips and waist were there, so I ordered something to fit my hips and I'm hoping for the best.
On the bright side, I found a dress for formal night (and, yipee, it has a sewn in padded bra!). The only problem is that it is short (around knee length), and the youngsters I work with tell me you don't wear nylons anymore?! When did that happen? Don't know if I will be comfortable sans nylons.
Well, everyone have a nice weekend.

Margarita Tasting on the Magic
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I attended this event on the June 24th cruise and it was very different than what I expected. The person presenting gave some great information on the history and types of Tequila. Margaritas are one of my favorite drinks and the actual tasting was not to my liking. They start you off by giving you a shot of Jose Cuervo Gold and you lick salt off your hand and bite a lime after. The lime and salt is only for the Cuervo. Next they give you a shot of a higher quality Tequila. I don't like doing shots and used the salt and lime anyway. Straight Tequila is nasty. Next, they give you another shot of a very good Tequila. Still nasty to me and I once again used the salt and lime to the dismay of the presenter. Finally, they bring out two small Margaritas that could have fit into a Dixie cup. One Strawberry and one regular. I would have traded the shots for 8 mini Margaritas if given a choice. They were good but I could still taste the shots. Is doing shots of Tequila considered Margarita tasting? I'm sure some people who attended enjoyed the pure taste of Tequila, but if you don't do shots, you may want to spend the money at the bar getting real Margaritas. I did leave the room with a buzz and maybe that was the real purpose of the presentation. Thought I would share this with the future cruisers.
Just read this on another thread.. Interesting to know this info prior to the cruise...
DANIEL and I are looking at the thread of the foods.. Man are we hungry now for the midnight dessert buffets...

The area that I was working in yesterday has a creek that runs along side the housing development. With all the rain we have been having the creek overflowed it's banks at high tide. I could actually stand there and watch the water rise and come over the banks. One street that I had been on about 30 minutes prior, was completely under water, I am so glad I got those meters read when I did, but I felt so bad for those families whose yards were completely submerged. I went back to check later in the day, and the water was back down, but a lot of the water still remained in the peoples yards.
Here's wishing everyone a GREAT weekend!!! :woohoo:

I'm sure some people who attended enjoyed the pure taste of Tequila, but if you don't do shots, you may want to spend the money at the bar getting real Margaritas. I did leave the room with a buzz and maybe that was the real purpose of the presentation. Thought I would share this with the future cruisers.
Just read this on another thread.. Interesting to know this info prior to the cruise...

Thanks for the description. That does not sound anything like the martini tasting I attended last summer.

Moira; I'm with you on the diet thing but you're ahead of me by 3 lbs! It sure gets harder to lose weight as you get older - 2 yrs ago, I went on a diet and lost 12 lbs in 4 weeks; it was AWESOME! This time around, I've been at it almost 4 weeks and I've only lost 4 lbs - and I'm stuck!!!! Yuck! Is there such a thing as diet PD? I need a truckload!!!
POTC 2: so did anyone go and see it in the middle of the night? Is it suitable for 7 yr olds? I've been hesitating about letting my DD see the first one (I saw it a long time ago but I forget how "scary" it was). Now that the likelyhood of #2 being shown on the cruise is apparently quite high, I'm tempted to rent it... any opinions?
Doreen: the last time I had tequila, I was in University (a LONG, LONG time ago!) and it made me so violently ill that now I can't even stand the smell of it... too bad because Margarita are usually so pretty... now let's talk Daiquiris and I'm in!!!

I had no clue how to start the sucker up even,,( so I guess I needed him). I can shift with no problem .. its getting up those darn hills (well ok the little ANT hills at the end of the streets..) :rotfl: And he made me go to that same street over and over again..lol.MARY ROSE its like a street at your corner.. Not really a hill but enough of a roll to get over..lol :lmao: I had beeping at me. starring at me. OH WELL!! :car:

There must be! Come on Canucks, stand up and be counted!!! DH, DD (7) and I are from the Greater Toronto Area, and we're flying down this time (we usually drive), leaving from Buffalo on SWA. :wave2:
When we were on the ship last year (Wonder, 4nts), we were actually quite surprised at how many crew members were Canadian - actually, it was amazing to see how far some crew members had travelled to work on the Ship, but then again, I'd travel "to infinity and beyond" (I know, corny!) for the chance to work on this floating paradise! Wouldn't you? We're working on DD to set her sights on such a job (so mom and dad can get a discount!!!) :teeth:

Julie: I can't stand tequila either, no margaritas for me! I like drinks made with rum, like pina colada! We have friends from Toronto that we may be cruising with next winter. :sail: We stayed in Canada for 5 days when we took the kids to Niagara Falls back in 2001, and we loved it. I have pictures from that trip on my web site. :3dglasses
Doreen: John said the same exact thing to me as he was leaving to go to work "Enjoy your last day off!" Geez, it's like next week will be the end of the world or something. Then again, it WILL be the end of the world as *I* know it! :rotfl: Party's over! :joker: Ah well, I feel very fortunate to have been a stay at home mom for basically the last 18+ years. :goodvibes Now I'm looking forward to a paycheck again! :smooth: And the hours I'll be working (9am - 3:30pm) are actually quite nice. I won't have to leave here until 8:30am, which is over an hour after John and the boys will be leaving in the morning (Well, it'll depend which classes Craig has on which days, but I know he has morning classes almost every day for the fall semester), so that'll be nice, I'll have time to check my email and check the DIS boards before leaving for work. Then I'll be home by 4pm each day which leaves time to get things done such as dry cleaners, food shopping, banking, doctor's appts, etc. Ask me how I feel a week from now, after my first full week back at work!
I'm sipping hot tea with lemon and honey. I'm feeling a bit better today. My throat doesn't hurt as much, the laryngitis is a bit better, and I don't feel quite as congested. :)
Tomorrow is our anniversary and John's been asking me what I'd like to do. I think we'll start the day with brunch at our favorite restaurant. Not sure what I want to do the rest of the day though :scratchin
Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Terry...good luck on the job and hope you feel better! Congrats on the anniversary!
Sun is shining bright and the next few days are supposed to be beautiful..sunny and 85 every day. We also had alot of flooding in our area due to the Susquehanna, Delaware and Lackawanna River spilling its banks. We watched video of flooding where houses went down the creek. They actually closed Interstate 81 (a major north/south interstate) from 10 miles from us to the New York border. I've never heard that done before.
Doreen...how far are you from the Carousel Mall? We are thinking of taking a trek up there before the cruise. Were you in Scranton recently? That's where I work...where were you? Mary Jo

MARY JO. I am 7 miles from there..you take the main road from there and turn left and a right and the next right is my street..lol My daughter works at STEVE MADDEN at the mall...We drove through SCRANTON on SUNDAY after the BRUNCH...
In FEBRUARY I will be back there for a Lia Sophia mtg too.. We went to the RADISSON train station I think. Yeah the flooding was pretty bad along RT 81 and the NYS THRUWAY. We were pretty lucky.
Let me know when you will be here if I I dont have a show maybe I can meet up with you for a soda or something..

Sorry to keep you in suspense...I told you I was going to Bobblehead Night! Tides won 1-0 w/ a homer in the 9th (woo hoo! I didn't want to wait for extra innings!); kids got to run the bases after. DH and son Kieran were picked to do one of those between-innings contests out on the field. They had fun and won the prize (doh! it was sponsored by Hamburger Helper - lame HH t-shirts!!!!). Best of all, the rain stopped just long enough for some tailgating and the whole game; it poured soon after I left the park. :sunny:
Denise, I am NOT willing to give up on the dieting just yet!!! (although I've learned that just saying the word "diet" doesn't really mean anything; apparently I have to change some eating habits to qualify). sigh. I still have all 10 (plus a few more) of the 10 lbs I said I'd lose way back when....I guess I have to put my money where my mouth is, and try a little harder. Starting tomorrow... :rolleyes1 To all of you on the road to success, keep going, and congrats on all your hard work!!!! :worship: :thumbsup2

My dad used to actually work in that train station before it was the hotel. It is a beautiful building and they left it go in disrepair until the Hilton originally bought it.

Still pretty sick - I didn't even turn the computer on yesterday. I will try to catch up. I did try to add a new ticker, we will see if it works. It is going to be a beautiful weekend but I think I am going to spend most of it in bed. I haven't quite given in to buying the new clothes yet but I may have to soon. I think I will wait a few more weeks to see if things go on sale. Disney store is having there semi-annual sale and it killed me not to have the money to do my shopping. I usually get a lot of Christmas and birthday presents at this sale.
Terry - Hope you are feeling better. Good luck on Monday. You will get used to going back to work and if you like the place it won't be bad - on occasion you might actually look forward to the adult company.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Tomorrow we're going to sleep in, then go out to brunch. I really want to wait and see Pirates 2 while we're on the cruise. pirate: Tomorrow afternoon John and I are going to take a ride so he can show me the back roads to take to get to my job. As of now I only know 1 way to get there, but from what I understand there any many ways which are much shorter than the way I've been going. I know we're going out to dinner tomorrow night, but I haven't decided where, yet. Mexican? Formal restaurant where we had our reception?? :scratchin I'll see how I feel tomorrow and then decide.
Doreen, please put us down for 4 bottles of SLIME GREEN bubbles! LOL :bounce:
Linda: I'm sorry you're still feeling so sick. For the last couple of days I've been taking Airborne, Tylenol, hot tea with honey and fresh lemon, and a decongestant every 4 - 6 hours. I really need to make sure I'm all better for my first day of work on Monday. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for the words of encouragement for going back to work. I'm hoping that I end up enjoying this job; it sure has the potential to be a pleasant work experience. They showed me all around the offices and they have a really nice break/lunch room with a spring water cooler, fridge, microwave, a few tables, a huge window that overlooks a back grassy area (I love to be able to see sunlight during the day, when I'm indoors), and they even have a computer with internet set up in there too, so the employees can go online during their breaks and lunch. The woman I'll be working with directly seemed like a very nice, down-to-earth person. I was told that the company throws pizza parties and hosts catered lunches fairly regularly for the employees. Also, I was told they'll often send someone out in the afternoon to bring back ice cream or iced coffees for everyone. Gee, I'll be low man on the totem pole, think they'll be sending me out? LOL
Karen: I'm glad you got your computer back up and running! Welcome back :surfweb:

I was up late last night, on a Cherry Kool-Aid sugar high, lol, and wanted to do a little something special for you and John. I was looking at the brunch photos again last evening, and that's when the idea hit me for your anniversary gift from me.
While I was up until 2am, I decided to play around a little with my countdown timer as well, and thought the Mickey waving hand was kind of neat to use. I'm looking to get two of those hands for my mom and I to use along the shoreline as y'all sailaway. I also will be wearing one of my "BRIGHT" safety green t-shirts that I have to wear for work. I asked someone who was on last weeks Double Dip to buy them for me. From reading the thread they are still only selling them on Friday and not Sunday which is why I wanted them now.
It seems silly to get a shirt for a cruise on the afternoon of the last day. We want to wear them from the beginning. I also saw that DCL created a special backdrop for the Double Dip embarkation photo so I thought the shirts would make a great photo with the new backdrop. (I plan too much) :rotfl2:

Back in 1999 I went with a group from our church on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. There were 45 people in our group and I made many t-shirts and sweatshirts for the group. Andy, lovely picture for Terry and John. You have a heart of gold! Was the Holy Land a great experience? John's grandmother, who is 84 went many times and she loved it!
Jeff, your shirts look great! :thumbsup2
Was at a honeymoon party last night (prior to the wedding all the girls meet up and give items for the honeymoon which have to be opened when blindfolded, great fun!) Drank too much Hennessy brandy and am now suffering! But I will survive! Self inflicted! The bride and groom are going on a RCCL cruise out of Miami the week we come back - sounds great too!
Bye for now!

Ok,
I need your thoughts,
After seeing the shirts buddy Bear had sent to him, I thought how neat that was.
While disney might be a little upset if I did my own shirts with this design, could I get away with a door magnet with this design,

I added some sand and water to finsh off the pic.

Hi everyone,
Hey Andy or Ed - is there anyway we can get shirts like that? I really like them too.
Terry and John - again HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and many many more.
Tina - my thoughts are with you. :grouphug:
Doreen - the Radisson reservation is under either "Cruising Castaways" or Trans World Travel (Bev). :confused3 For those who I am holding reservations for please PM me as I need cc# etc to guarantee these reservations.
I can't wait for our cruise :thumbsup2 but by the time it comes, the summer will almost be over.

As Disney is selling this design on CC, I am nor sure it would be a good ideal to make shirts using that design. If we changed it possibly it might be ok.
Anyone is free to download the image and play with it for your own use.

My mom and I plan on driving down from her place to the Radisson early Friday afternoon, probably arriving around 3pm so we can get checked in.
I guess we should start a list of who is planning to meet at Grills Friday night 8/18 at 5pm for dinner. Grills does not take reservations after 4pm, so if we have a number of people that are planning on being there, I can give them a count when I get there and let them know how many seats we will need. I'll start the list off.

Hi Everyone! :wave2: Yesterday I went to a bridal shower for my friends daughter who is getting married on the cruise. Their names are Lisa and John and they will be getting married Thursday night on the ship. At first my friend Theresa was going to have the shower tuesday night on the ship but she realized there would be so much going on, that we wouldn't want to miss anything. They got alot of nice things, and I got my friend Theresa a white baseball hat that says "Mother of the Bride" that she can wear on the cruise. I got them a cute Mickey and Minnie Bridal cake topper last time I was at Disney. Can't wait for the cruise!

Andy: Our flight doesn't land until around 5pm, so we'll have to miss Grills. I hope you all have a nice dinner together! :) We'll probably go to Zachary's for dinner that night, or the restaurant in the Radisson. I think there's also a pizza place nearby too. :scratchin
Doreen: We always used Tiffany Towncar. Their rates are about the same as the other limo companies, but we've been using them for the last 5 years and have always had good service from them. We usually book their 10-person stretch limo. It's a fun, relaxed way to start and end the vacation. I have the price quote here somewhere. You can always call them (or any of the towncar/limo companies) and they'll give you a quote right over the phone.

Okay, after all the discussions last week at brunch about trip insurance I bit the bullet and bought it today. Terry, (thank you) I searched your posts to come up with the Access America phone no. you told me about and they told me they actually have the family assist/AAA on their website now. Anyway, my delay in purchase was because it was around four hundred dollars to include Taryn's two friends instead of the $150 or so I am use to paying. Access America allowed me to purchase a policy where my kids are free this cost $121 for us four. Each friend needed their own policy which, because they are third in each room only came to around $1000 of coverage needed, cost $37 each. So for $185 I'm covered and that's another thing behind me now. Probably like everyone else, I'm not so much worried about losing the $ is I has to cancel (well I'm somewhat worried about that) but I'm more afraid of a medical emergency. I know that can add up really quick.
Okay, off the Kelly Clarkson!
Later,

Hi again everyone :wave2:
We just got back from driving 2 different ways to where I'll be working. LOL John grew up in the town right next to where the company is located so he knows that area very well. Now, just to remember it tomorrow! :teeth: It's only about a half hour, door to door, so that's not too bad. :hourglass
No more staying up late and thinking "Well if I'm tired in the morning I can always go back to bed after John and the kids leave" :rotfl: Not that I ever do go back to sleep, but the option is there! At least I'll have an hour or so to myself before I have to leave, so I'm feeling good about that. :sunny: I'll have time to check my email and the DIS boards and have that first cup of coffee! :surfweb: I'm trying to pretend that I'll just be gone doing something for a few hours each day. It's not a job, right??!! :lmao: Like I said the other day, I'll see how I feel and what I think about this, at the end of the week! :rolleyes1 LOL Can you tell I'm an optimistic person? I can take almost any situation and only focus on the positives. :3dglasses
Ok...onto cruise news!!
I've updated Page 1 again! I'm so sorry to those I had forgotten to add on, but I think the list is up to date now. If it's not, and you're still not on the list, please let me know. Life's been quite busy for me, for the last couple of months. Had a son graduate high school, had college orientations to attend, had 2 graduation parties to plan (1 of which was out of state), planned the DIS brunch last week, went to the Jersey Shore for a few days in there somewhere... and had to keep the household up and running! HA! Now that I think about it, going to work will be a cinch! LOL :teeth:
Oh Joyce, I keep forgetting to post our picture from our lunch meet! I'll add that soon too!! We really did enjoy getting to meet you and Nathan! :grouphug:
I will update my Itinerary page soon. I'll add on John to the Parasailing excursion, and add Elaine in there too. Doreen, is she going to be Parasailing too? Does anyone else have anything to be added to the Itinerary Page? Here's the link to it, once again: http://www.brownfamilyvacations.com/html/CruisingCastaways.htm
Am I forgetting anything else?? :scratchin
Ed: Thanks for the info, I'll be sending a check within a day or two! I love the design of those magnets, can't wait to see them! :goodvibes
Bev & Doreen: I definitely want to order a couple of things from the LS catalog. When is the order due? I need to wait until I get my first paycheck to place the order though, and that won't be until a week from Thursday. Is that too late? Can I give you the order and then send payment then? Let me know how it works ok? Thanks :smooth:
TO EVERYONE WHO'S ON THE PALO PRIVATE DINING ROOM LISTS: I'll be contacting the woman at Group Specialists soon. Are you all still interested in attending the meals that I have you down for?? Please let me know soon because I've had several people send me messages, asking to be put on a "Wait List". Thanks! :)

I just sat here and read all the posts from June 30th on. Not a small feat since you have all had so much going on in your lives. Congratulations for all the exciting and happy things and condolences for the stresses and unhappy things. :grouphug:
We have had our share of both.
HAPPY! I am a grandmom! Brandon Michael was born July 1st and he is doing really well. He was early and weighed in at 6 lbs 4 oz. I have not had the chance to hold him and tell him how much he is loved because he is in FL and we are in NJ. Sigh...
NOT SO HAPPY. We are trying to finalize everything from Stan's mom's death. Much paperwork and family drama.
My mom is selling her home of 35 years and buying a manufactured home in an over 55 community. More paperwork and family drama.
REALLY NOT SO HAPPY. Stan is being scheduled for surgery to resect his colon again. The chemo was not as successful as hoped. He also has an issue with his kidney and his prostrate is enlarged. He LOOKS great. Of course he is a very close cousin to the Energizer Bunny and the family resemblance is uncanny. They just keep going.
We will not cancel this cruise until the doctors have given their final word on surgery. It all depends on the date. Of course the surgeon is going on vacation for 2 weeks at the beginning of August. I really need this cruise to look forward to and am finding it difficult to talk about it knowing we may not go. Our cruises have truly been the best FAMILY TIME we have ever spent. So, we will be there, God-willing. FAMILY TIME is our priority.
My best to all our Cruisin' Castaways...

This is for everyone that booked a room at the Radisson on 8/18/06. If you did not get the group rate that I have, please call the Radisson back. You will have to give them your confirmation # and tell them there is a group rate that is being held under TRANS WORLD TRAVEL & VACATION CENTER. This was suppposed to be under Cruising Castaways which is why I've gotten alot of PM's that the Radisson doesn't have it listed. The main Radisson number has it under TRANS WORLD TRAVEL & VACATION CENTER. They will adjust your price to our group rate. If there are any problems, please call me at 215-219-5400 or PM me. I was able to get a group rate to save my DIS friends money.

Hi Mary Rose, I am not quite sure how many are traveling with the wedding! The number as changed a few times, but so far its about 25 people. Andy - I'm going to keep the car until morning too so add 6 to dinner please! It ought to be fun!
Bev- Thanks for the info at the Rad. will call them tomorrow. I will shore up my LS order and email it to you really soon!
Darlene - my good friend! Congrats on the birth of your grandson! Babies are such a joy and I hope you get to hold him soon. Prayers and hugs to Stan the Man and to you and Sandy too! I truly hope you can make the cruise but I most especially hope that Stan gets well soon! Please keep us posted. You are never far out of my thoughts!
Susan - 25 people! That should be a blast. You know what, you are part of two really big groups on the ship. Everywhere you go you'll know someone. I hope we catch sight of the bride & groom on the ship. I love that sort of thing. Looking forward to seeing you and yours next month too!
Doreen - Thanks for taking care of my John! I think I'll join Marty and Karen (the other landlubbers) at Serenity Bay.
Terry - Good luck tomorrow! Thanks for keeping up page 1! You do know which wait list I requested right?
Hi Everyone else that I didn't hit here! Have a beautiful Monday! UGH

Good morning, everyone! :surfweb:
ahh... Day 1 of my new job! I'm awake and all dressed already and I don't have to leave for another 2 hours. LOL I'm curious to see how today goes. I'll be reporting back this afternoon. :teeth:
Darlene: Congratulations!! How exciting, a new baby!! :cloud9: I hope you get to see him soon. :goodvibes
I'm so sorry to hear that Stan needs more surgery. Please let him know that he, and all of you, are always in my thoughts. I can understand why you can't really get too excited about the cruise because of the fact that you may have to miss it. I hope that's not the case, and I hope that Stan will be well enough to cruise with us. It just wouldn't be the same without the three of you. :grouphug:

Checking in from break! It's going very well so far! They even gave me a "welcome" gift; a company coffee mug filled with candies, and a card welcoming me to the company. It was all wrapped up with ribbons. How nice is THAT?!?!? :sunny: I'm alone in the breakroom so that's why I decided to log on here. Ok, back to work in 4 minutes! lol

Andy: Put 4 more down for grills. We arrive in Orlando at 10am so we will have had plenty of time to hang out by the pool for a while before dinner.
Bev: Thanks for blocking those rooms & getting a group rate but we ended up booking the Radisson at a really low govt. rate...thanks to Andy's advice.
Doreen: If it's not too late I will take 2 bubbles for the kids.
Darlene: Congrats on the birth of your grandson. How exciting that must be! Good thoughts for you & Stan also.
Terry: Sounds like a great company to work for! It will take time to really feel comfortable there but it sounds like you are already fitting right in. Good luck!
Mary Rose: Glad the concert was fun!
Okay is that it? Oooops no a wedding was mentioned....
Susan: As if a 7 night cruise wasn't exciting enough, you will also be attending a wedding! Now that sounds like a blast!
Hello to everyone else & take care!

I have a confession to make, for the past few weeks I have been working behind the scenes about trying to get my mom and I on this cruise. I finally got the call I was hoping for at 8:15 this morning.
Thanks to Ed, who told me that the August 19th cruise was open for the Florida Resident Rates a few weeks ago, and since my mom is a Florida resident, I was able to get us a room (cat. 11) for less than $1400.00
As soon as I got the call I was hoping for, I quickly called DCL and booked us a cabin, as there weren't many cabins left at the Florida Resident Rate.
So, if you haven't seen my new countdown clock in my siggie, take a look and see what it says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:cool1:  :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :woohoo: :dance3: :bounce: :yay:
I should also mention that both Hazel and Angelina told me to go for it if I could get my mom and I a cabin. They have a family obligation to attend the week of the cruise, and since I was sick for the first five days of our May cruise my girls said I deserve to be on the Cruisin' Castaways sailing. :thumbsup2

I have to make this quick, I'm on my way out the door to see the foot doctor. I have bursitis in my right foot and it's time to get another cortisone shot. It's been two years since the last one, so I'm due for another one.
No need to make my mom and I t-shirts as I made them for my family before our meet at WDW last August. I just have to find my shirt as it was stored away after we returned home so it wouldn't get dirty.
We have late dining, so Bev I guess I can send you my ressie number and get linked up again for dinner???
Mel, look for a large white envelope in the mail either Wednesday or Thursday, looking forward to meeting you and everyone else as well!!!

Darlene :butterfly
Darlene: Congrats ! on your grandson. :cheer2: :Pinkbounc Continued prayers and good thoughts for you & Stan. :wizard: :goodvibes I for one can understand when you say you need this cruise to look forward to and find it difficult to talk about it knowing we may not go. Terry - How was your first day at work???
Can everyone keep Doreen and her family in your prayers, she needs alot of pixiedust: come here way this week. I will let her explain when she gets the chance. This cruise :boat: could not have come at a better time!
MaryRose - can you add my sister Elaine to the list for a pen if it is not too late? Also, you are more then welcome to join Marty and me at Serenity Bay while your husband parasails. The last time I cruised I did have a cabana massage and it was "AWESOME"! I am thinking about it again but I would also like to enjoy just lounging at the beach! :beach:

That's right, with two stops at Castaway Cay, maybe I'll actually get to Serenity Beach this cruise!!! With four prior cruises under my belt, I still have not made it there.
Just got off the phone with Bev. I gave her my ressie number and she is calling DCL to have my mom and I added to the large group at 8pm for dinner. I know we are going to have a "BLAST" on this cruise.
Hazel is sad to be missing it, but she and her sister are in charge of a family gathering on their side of the family (it's a baby shower thingy) that's why Hazel can't make this trip.
I did get my cortisone shot and my foot is aching like crazy, hopefully by tomorrow it will start feeling better.

I can't wait to see you again. I saw a photo of the Peter Pank brunch and the kids are so grown. Your hair is longer, too. Nice.
For now, I am trying to switch our plans around to include the cruise but going home directly instead of staying at WDW the week after. We may be able to spend the week before the cruise. Of course it means changing all kinds of reservations: DVC points for VWL, 2 nights at Shades of Green, not to mention airplane and ground transportation. And that is all contingent upon surgery being scheduled for 8/28 instead of 8/7. If it is 8/7 then all plans are off. And Stan is still scheduled for a procedure on 7/21 that has to go well. Sound confusing? And this is the FUN part!
Talk soon,

Although I do think he's cute, it's Johnny Depp that I think is dreamy (weird, yes, but sooooo handsome) I especially like his look in Pirates. I like the eyeliner thing. What the heck that means or what it says about me I don't know! My daughter thinks he's awful looking. Go figure, must be that ole' generation gap. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for those asking about my MIL and Chuck...............Chuck is already back on the road. He brought home some gifts from his Mom to me. A beautiful personal card that I will treasure always. :) She gave me a heart pendant with a 2 tone rose that she wore every Mothers Day. She also gave me what's called a smiley Angel pin that's 18k gold with diamond glow wings. On the bottom of the card it reads " Brings a smile every day, and happiness to light the way. " In her card she told me that she would always be looking down on me with a smile on her face. On the angel it has a HUGE smile on it. I have never seen anything like it and I decided to get both peices put on my charm bracelet.
My MIL is on Morphine and Hospice light will help her go to the light when ready. She is now wheel chair bound. I talk with her on a limited basis so other loved ones can talk with her because she is not up alot of the time. Chuck feels like that was the last time he will see his Mother alive and is not dealing with things well since he came back. My friends here are WONDERFUL and I keep busy. :)

We just got back from seeing PoC2 and we both liked it. I think it's kind of like the LOTR thing, though, where the first movie establishes the "world" of the movie and so some of the amazement drops away. I thought parts were terribly clever; Steve thought that they could have trimmed about half an hour (of course, that may have been the large soda speaking). One thing's for sure, I want to see everybody's palm before we head out to the open seas!
Lori
P.S. Mary Rose: About half of my 8th grade girls last year considered themselves to be the future Mrs. Orlando Bloom, although about a third of them preferred the blonde, pointy-eared Middle Earth version. I think there's a shorter wait in the Johnny Depp line.

CARAMELTINK: If a Disney movie is going to be opening on August 25th, then I think there's a good chance they'll play it on our cruise. I know they've done the "PremEar At Sea" onboard the ships for all of the new Disney movies. :3dglasses
Tina: What a beautiful thing your MIL has done in sending you those gifts, both the tangible (jewelry) and intangible (the letter). I know how special they must be to you. Hugs to you and Chuck and your family. :grouphug:

Moira: I meant to say that they did have plenty of pirate accessories at the gift shop in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride when we were there in May. We bought eye patches (corny, I know! LOL), and I got a neat pirate hat for DH to wear. They also sell the "pirates medallions", you know, the necklace that Elizabeth Swann had in the original Pirates movie. It looks like the pirates' Aztec gold, on a chain. Not expensive at all, as I recall. I think the necklace was $10 - $12. The hat was probably around $20 (it's brown and looks like the 3-point hat that Jack Sparrow wears), and the eye patches were only a couple of dollars each. Happy plundering! pirate: :teeth:
