Awe, Michael, I could cry :sad1:

So, I sprinkled Michael & Marc with a little bit of :tinker: today.
.......
And, just for the record, I don't drink tequila -- something about that worm in the bottom of the bottle freaks me out! Konk koolers -- that's a whole different story! :drinking1 :drinking1 :teeth:

I am still on Cloud 9 regarding this. Got the PM at 5:30 CA time and I turned to Marc (yeah, we're both up early!) and said: Can you believe this??!!!

We are both very thankful!

(btw... don't worry about that worm in the tequila bottle! It doesn't exist. It is in Mezcal, which I wouldn't touch!!!!)

Speaking of alcoholic Beverages.. I have been on DCL before and have heard of people bringing their own on, but is it something that you can do? Of those of you left have you brought stuff on before? Like I said I have seen regular threads on this in the past, but I can't remember what the rules are....

There are many that do. Some bring a rolling cooler with UN-ICED beverages. The cooler is then put through the x-ray machine and handed back. They also report that their room stewards keep the cooler iced the entire cruise.

The official line is that they are not allowed onboard.... but that official line seems to be disregarded at every point. We haven't brought a cooler on, but then we go right from the hotel to the bus to the port with no stops and that's just one more extra thing to worry about as far as I'm concerned.

This is a far cry from NCL as last Thanksgiving we watched them have people open their luggage and ALL alcohol was removed. They were given receipts for it and told they could pick it up at the end of the cruise.

When it comes to drinks I think that DCL really has some of the best prices out there. I DO like the soda fountain availability. Besides tequila, scotch, gin, vodka, and wine, I do enjoy my Diet Coke!

Michael

(btw, congrats on Post 25000!!!! Nice pic, too!)

I guess I have always thought of myself as being an owner because I "own" a piece of real estate. I don't consider being a member like a "cast member" cuz they could fire me and I don't consider myself an employee of Disney, just an owner.

I'm still catching up here, but in the fine print of our DVC contracts, don't they reserve the right to take back our share of the property at any time with proper compensation? In that case, they could fire us! :rotfl:That could just be another reason why we're "members". Members can get the boot from a club at any time for breaking the rules. :scared:

Greetings everyone from Murfreesboro, TN! We are settled in for the night and will be heading out early tomorrow morning for the trip to WDW. Won't be turning on the notebook in the morning so if someone wants to do the good morning just find that post, quote it and change the numbers.

Didn't run into too much rain. Traffic was great until we hit Nashville. Yikes it was bumper to bumper. Found out when we got to the hotel that Aerosmith and Motely Crue were doing a concert and we went right past the arena.

Looks like everyone is ready to go. Safe travels everyone!

I was just in Broward today for a news story at the Federal Court house (I work at News 12 in West Palm). I am hoping to get to go down that way and to Miami soon to actually get to see stuff. I have been here 4 months and have seen very little of South Florida yet...

Thanks about the Photo. I usually hate pics with me in them, but these turned out great. I hope my wedding ones at WDW will be just as good.

I had not even noticed that I was about to hit the milestone till after I sent the last reply. I was so excited after I noticed. It added to my excitement about the trip.... :Pinkbounc

I leave tomorrow at 2pm for NY so I have to be packed and ready to leave for FL also. This was really bad planning. I'm feeling so stressed. It's really all done so I don't know why I'm so stressed but I am. I have to work tomorrow from 8-2 then leave straight from work. Hmmmm maybe I'll delay that by an hour and give myself time to make sure it's all done. I have two washes to do tonight and of course Survivor.

Ann Marie,
I can't believe your work ppl said that. That's really nervy! Be strong and insist NO WORK ON VACATION!

Ilene - safe travels tomorrow. Can't wait to finally meet you!

Things got worse this afternoon. My 4pm meeting was moved to 5:15pm and after 5 minutes I was told there was an important conference call he had to get to so I have to go to our Wellesley office for a 9AM meeting tomorrow morning! I was so upset because 9AM really means 10AM and then I've got to prepare the documentation before I leave so I may not be able to get my manicure and pedicure as I planned! I went back to pack my stuff up and got distracted then went to the ladies room and left. I was on the road for 90 minutes when I realized I unlocked my laptop but never took it out of the docking station!!! We have had several laptops stolen in recent months and I was in a panic. I called the office and at this point it was after 7PM and most people were gone. I called Security but he couldn't leave the desk. He finally found someone to check the desk where I was sitting and sure enough the laptop was there. The woman is locking it up for me overnight but that means I can't prepare for the meeting tomorrow! Saturday won't get here soon enough!!!

I soooooo agree with you... I have had enough of stress at work in the last 2 weeks to last me a life time. TV in West Palm Beach has been crazy busy with the Foley scandal. Breaking News city these days it seems. I need a break and 4 days of doing nothing but what I want to do is just what the Dr. ordered..... :badpc: This is probably what you would like to do to that computer... LOL :rotfl:

We haven't brought alcohol on board - although we debated on doing so for this trip but decided not to do so. I wasn't sure if you could bring alcohol in carry ons and would never put it in the checked luggage because it wouldn't arrive in one piece.

Awe, Michael, I could cry :sad1:

So, I sprinkled Michael & Marc with a little bit of :tinker: today.

We had the reservation at BWV for the 1 bedroom the night after the cruise. Just one night as we return home on Friday. I personally don't care for BWV so Gary & I talked and decided if Michael & Marc really wanted the BWV, we would swap them for their SSR reservation.

Michael & I talked this morning, bright and early his time, contacted MS and worked out the change. If this wasn't meant to be, I don't know what was. Before Michael & I talked, we both called MS separately to see if this was do-able. Michael talked to a CM by the name of Tory. Then Michael called me & we swaped all the necessary info. When I called MS back, who answered the phone but Tory. She had all of Michael's information right there, so it was very easy to add him & Marc as guests on my reservation.

I told Michael if there is a hitch, my family is camping out with him & Marc in their 1 bedroom that night. I know there won't be but I'm sure I'll be in a better place than Gail & her family in the Solarium ;) .

I've been smiling all day knowing that someone else is going to appreciate the BWV much more than we would have. And, besides, as I told Michael, my kids  hunting frogs at night at SSR.

And, just for the record, I don't drink tequila -- something about that worm in the bottom of the bottle freaks me out! Konk koolers -- that's a whole different story! :drinking1 :drinking1 :teeth:

That is just awesome Cindy Michael and Marc!!!

Well, I have one more thing to do tomorrow and that's pick up a new digital camera! Somehow when Shawn moved back to college, we packed all of the stuff that went with the camera - charger, memory card, etc. and we didn't realize this until last night when Tom was frantically looking for everything. So tomorrow's agenda: work, pharmacy, manicure/pedicure, camera shopping, pack . . . I know there are other things I need to do but at this point I'm too tired to think of them.

Oh yeah, don't forget to water your house plants!

We just tried some of the Rosa Regala on the cruise in September - Thanks to Stacey :wave2: . Boy was it good. She had extra bottles at the end of the cruise so she gave us one to drink while we were at WDW. We forgot we had it until we were packing to leave on Sunday morning. Yep, we finished it off before we checked out of the room that morning :thumbsup2

Who me?? :guilty:

Just wait until this year. It's going to be an entire tray --- better yet, maybe they could just hook me up with a continuous drip.

Funny thing is I don't usually drink but I am very much looking forward to drinks on the cruise.

I see your still up, Gail. No sleep for you tonight either? I was actually thinking of trying to fall asleep. I know chances are that I'll just lay there and watch the clock change numbers. Much too excited for that.

We are mostly packed. I need to write the note for the pet sitter. We ended up having to take our dog to the vet tonight as he has a sore on his head that was bleeding. I didn't want to leave him without finding out what it was and what to do for it. So, he has a nice little bald spot where they shaved his head. The sitter will need to apply a cream a couple times a day. Not my favorite job --- so he'll be done by the time we're back. :)

I'm not working tomorrow -- so I'll take the kids to school for a treat, head to the bank, come home, clean the house some, head back to pick up the boys. The limo picks us up about 1:30 and we'll be on our way. :jumping1:

He sat outside my bedroom door the whole time I was packing the bags. I gave up, he saw the bags and is now laying in front of John's office making sure that John doesn't leave. We found a new boarder for him, so I'm sure he will like the new place - heck I'd stay there it was so nice!

I'm still up too. I have to be at work at 9:30, but I am waiting for Chris to get in from UPS. He has a second job there. I feel soooo bad when you all started talking weeks ago about packing. I am so not one to pack early and then I am running around the night before throwing things into a bag freaking out, because I am just sooooo sure that I will forget something. I wil probably do the same thing when we leave for our wedding in Jan. I should probably be a bit more organized for that HUH?

I'm still up too. I have to be at work at 9:30, but I am waiting for Chris to get in from UPS. He has a second job there. I feel soooo bad when you all started talking weeks ago about packing. I am so not one to pack early and then I am running around the night before throwing things into a bag freaking out, because I am just sooooo sure that I will forget something. I wil probably do the same thing when we leave for our wedding in Jan. I should probably be a bit more organized for that HUH?

I usually like to start packing early, but then I think I run a better chance of forgetting something since there are so many items you can't pack till the last minute. Of course, on our 11 day cruise I forgot my bathing suit. Now how in the world can you forget your bathing suit when your going on a cruise is beyond me, but I did it.

It's dark and early out here in So. Cal. and I'm wide awake. Have been fighting a cold the past couple of days (LOTS of sniffling going on!) but I think I'm winning the battle!

To those of you who are leaving today, safe travels. We've got a flight out of LAX on Saturday at 11:00ish arriving at 5:30ish. We were going to start the packing last night but that didn't happen. We're gonna try for tonight. If that doesn't happen, what better way to spend Saturday a.m. than throwing clothes in a suitcase and running out the door? Fortunately we're taking a shuttle down to LAX and the freeways on Saturday a.m. are pretty much empty at that point. Getting out of the house at 8:00 will give us plenty of time to get to the flyaway bus!

I may peek at the thread a bit today at work but will probably be keeping my head down and making sure the desk is clean.... or at least hide all the stuff I was supposed to finish and didn't!

Bloody Marys, margaritas, pina coladas, and Fairy Tale Cuvee here we come! :drinking1

Good Morning all :surfweb:

I actually slept and woke up to realize it was the time that Diana was also getting up. I then realized that it really wasn't, it was the time they planned to leave home as in NY they are a hour ahead of us.

Thanks, Curt, for mentioning ME --- I almost forgot all about tagging our luggage. That would have been one BIG and UNHAPPY surprise when we got to OKW tonight and remembered. :scared1:

Great job remembering the countdown, Michael. I have a terrible memory.

Carol, our dog definately senses when we are leaving too. To add to his confusion, yesterday, he was in the yard when our pet sitter came to get the keys. On the way out, she stopped by the fence to give him a treat. Then, an hour later, we took him to the vet and he was scared to death there. Once we got home, all the suitcases came back to the front door. Tony was on our heels the rest of the night.

Safe travels to everyone off early this morning. pixiedust:

OY!!!! :worried: You need some good karma  I'm looking forward to meeting you too and hope today goes much smoother. Your job seems incredibly demanding and I know your going to really enjoy the time away. Focus on SATURDAY!!!!!

Yup, our pups know something is up too. They are like glue on me.
They'll get picked up tonight by my brother on his way to the Cape.
I'm getting off now to do a last check on what's in the suitcases as I
leave for NY today at 2. Looks like we will have 2 bags full and one
mostly empty plus a carry on each. I still feel like I'm missing something
I hate that feeling. Oh well.

Hey gang! We've been in Orlando a couple of days. Just wanted to let everyone know that after some discusssion on the way down, Ken and I have both canceled our banana boat trips. His back has been hurting, and I didn't want to take any chances with my shoulder.

We are keeping our 11:00 stingray time, so we'll be down there at the front of the line! If someone could save us a place on the family beach, that would be great!

Thanks again Cindy for keeping me updated!

See you all soon!

I'm feeling your pain. Why is it that all hell breaks loose just before vacation. Work is nuts ans today I have to get caught up on all my cases at work, bring the cats to my parents house after work, drop off spare keys to neighbor, drop off Boy Scout popcorn order forms, and then get us packed! :faint:

Nope, with what I have left to do, I'll probably be the last. I don't think I'll make it on Friday night, probably early Saturday morning.

Is anyone doing the Party for the Senses on October 28th?
We are! There will be 4 of us...Ken, me, DD, and her friend. My recommendation....get there early and wait at the door if you want a table where you can sit. The first year we went, all we could find was a table that was SRO.

Didn't run into too much rain. Traffic was great until we hit Nashville. Yikes it was bumper to bumper.

Well we didn't get the traffic, but got the rain. We're here in Woodbridge VA. I'm working and Judy is going to go off and check us in at the auto train.

It was so hard listening to the Met game while driving. I had to keep searching for an ESPN radio station and the weather wasn't helping. Not that it mattered. Didn't get the result I wa shoping for.

We did!! We are not big baseball fans, but we do cheer for the Cardinals whenever they make the series. We live about 3 hours from St. Louis so they are the nearest major league team to us.

This could make for some friendly rivalry on board the ship with Curt and Karen!!

I'm still here! :wave2: Till about 3:30p anyway!

What a morning! My DD (age 7) had a fever yesterday and today and that was the only symptom (besides being tired). The doctor fit her in at 10:15a today and we just got home a little while ago.

They checked her urine (for infection/she only has one kidney) and they checked for strep. The strep came back negative but is what they still think she has so they have to send it off to the lab. Won't get results for 48 hours (monday) and they needed my DD to try and pee more because the first time it was only a drop and it came back with a tiny bit of blood in it. That worried the PCP. They made me call her doctor at Children's Hosp to see if they want to do any further tests to rule out infection. The PCP talked with the Children's doc on call and he relieved my PCPs fears that it's probably just Strep and just get another urine sample and send it out to the lab.

I was freaking out!

Anyway, we were prescribed a chewable antibiotic and the urine and strep test results won't be back till Monday.

Does anyone know how I can find out the results when we'll be at sea? Our cell phones won't work, right?

What about the emergency cruise number #888-DC-AT-SEA? Can my doctor call that number to give me the results?

Anyone have any ideas?

I can't believe this is happening. :(

Wow...you have had an unbelievable day...I hope that all is good with your daughter and tests comeback negative...You can give your Dr that number and then tell him what ship your on, and your cabin #. Remember that its like 5.95 a min or something like that. Tell him to leave a message, and let you know positive ot negative. Or you can use the phone on the ship and call him.

Oh, I'm SO sorry to hear that this is happening, right before vacation.

Is there any way that the doctor can send you an email? Then, if you have a way to remotely access your email, you can do it from the ship for a lot less.

Yes. He can. But he will have to enter a credit card number in order to do it. I believe it's $7.95 a minute. I would DEFINITELY not call out from the phone to his office because you could be on hold for quite some time!! I'd probably ask him to call if there was a problem (i.e. the treatment she is currently getting from him will NOT kill the particular bug she has.) So what if she has strep or a urinary tract infection? By that time she'll have been treated for 3 days and as long as she's acting fine, it's working. Of course, when you get back on dry land, call and find out the results just so you know.

So....I'd say "call the DC AT SEA number if we need to change the course of treatment, otherwise I'll call Thursday for results."

Clear as mud?

Wow...you have had an unbelievable day...I hope that all is good with your daughter and tests comeback negative...You can give your Dr that number and then tell him what ship your on, and your cabin #. Remember that its like 5.95 a min or something like that. Tell him to leave a message, and let you know positive ot negative. Or you can use the phone on the ship and call him.

Thank you. I just got off the phone with DCL and my doctor's office and DCL gave me their fax and that phone number again. They said it's like $9 a minute on th phone!

Then when I gave my doctor the fax number (its cheaper) they said no way. They won't fax results to anyone except another doctor. So my only recourse is to call them at $9. a minute from my room.

But I need to know so we'll bite the bullet and give them a call some time on Monday.

Thanks everyone.

Opps, I missed your reply; I think we were typing at the same time!

I just got off the phone with them for the second time and she said to try Sunday before we boarded because sometimes they get results sooner.

If not to call them Monday afternoon. I'm afraid to call them again.

She still has a fever (102 on and off since yesterday morning) so I just gave her more Tylenol. Hopefully the antibiotic will kick in by tomorrow morning. She's only had one so far. One more at dinner, then 3 a day here after.

I think they were just being overly cautious due to her having one kidney and having had kidney failure in the past (E Coli) and they only tested with a drop, and I mean a drop of pee. I'm trying to think positive! :goodvibes

Thanks for listening everyone!

They cant fax the results because of HIPPA...Someone else could read the results of the fax and then they would be in violation. We have to tell everyone no to fax anything to them because of HIPPA...It has to be mailed or they have to talk directly to Dr. Do you have a cell phone? I dont know if it will work on CC, but mine is like 3.95 a min in the Bahamas. So if it works there, then its a little cheaper. Or what if you had the Dr.'s office call your cell and leave a voice mail with the results, and then you just call and check your voice mail. That should only take a few min. I dont know what other options you have...I hope that all is well!

I am not making light of the situation at all.... My dh deals with this all the time. If the results are such that they don't require a change in treatment, it's not urgent that you know them on Monday.

For example, let's say it's strep and she's on amoxicillin. It doesn't really help for you to know if it IS strep or if it ISN'T strep because the drug she is on is appropriate. So in that case, knowing the diagnosis isn't helpful and doesn't require a call---IMHO.

But let's say it's a urinary tract infection (and she's on amoxicillin) and the culture and sensitivity (C&S) report shows that the bacteria in question is not sensitive to amoxicillin (meaning amoxicillin won't kill it) then, yes, I think a call to your room with information about what drug will work (based on the C&S) is necessary. But then the problem is going to be you'll have to go to the health center and try to convince them that your doctor left a message that your dd needs this medication.

Maybe the health center has a fax machine with a separate number and it can be faxed there?

I don't know how long you are usually on hold with your doc's office when you call, but I know when I call it's usually about a 10 minute wait....that rings up to about $80 just to find out test results. When, really, the best bet is watching your dd and seeing how she's acting---is she getting better or worse with her treatment.

I just wanted to add that I'm sorry you're having to go through this stress right before leaving town. I hate sick kids and sick kids just before (or on) vacation are really stressful. (ask me, I know, my son has puked all over TWO hotel beds suddenly and without warning!!!)

Just didn't want my matter of fact posts to come across like I wasn't aware of the personal stress factor you've got right now.

:grouphug:

Keep this in mind too.....she may just have a virus and she'll be better in two days and it wasn't the antibiotic that cured her. :)

I suspect next week is going to be VERY productive for me!

I am tying up some loose ends here at the FD and then this evening we are going to our daughters to have dinner. I am working for a disaster drill here tomorrow morning and then we will be off to HOOTERS and then a hotel for the night. I will check in as I can till then.

I was also thinking that we would be on CC so you might be able to get a cell signal, but if you can't, can they not fax the results directly to the doctor on the ship? Even if she doesn't need a change in medication, it would set your mind at ease to hear the results. I would call DCL and explain that your dr. can't send a fax unless its to another physician, maybe there is a direct fax line to the onboard health clinic.

I am trying to finish most everything today too. I have to be at the high school tomorrow morning at 7:45 to take delivery of over 500 frozen loaves of bread for our fundraiser then hope that everyone shows up to pick up their order, then my daughter gets her hair fixed in an updo at 10 am for her dance tomorrow night because we have a wedding to go to at 2pm and won't have time after. When we get back from the wedding we will have to hurry and get her dressed for the dance. The dress she is wearing to the dance would not be appropriate for an afternoon wedding so we can't save time there. We have to feed her some time in there also. Laundry is still ongoing, I have printed out all my docs and my adr's and schedule as to what parks on what days. I have everything in the first folder/envelope that they sent with the velcro closure by order of when I need it: passports in the front for the airport (can't print out tickets until tomorrow), cruise docs, then car rental receipt, ssr ressies, the adr's and park schedule. Its almost here!

Wow, thanks everyone! This has been one heck of a day for sure.

I'm going to play it by ear. I will see how she does the next 2 days and hope that the antibiotics kick in and she starts to feel better. If she's doing great, then I'll just wait till Thursday to get the results.

If not, I'll call the doctor Monday if I do not hear from them. Meanwhile I called the doctor back yet again (and spoke to the nurse) and gave her the ship's phone number and my cabin number and told them to call me IF its not Strep and IF the treatment needs to be change. I do NOT have faith that they will follow my directions and call if its not Strep but we'll see. I'm still hopeful she'll be much better by tomorrow, after having the medicine for a couple of days.

Thanks everyone, for your help and well wishes. I wonder now if I should skip the meet tomorrow. :confused3 How long is Strep contagious? I believe once they start the medicine they are no longer contagious but I'm not sure. I know with my older Dd she went back to school the next day, after seeing the doctor and taking the medicine for a day.

I wouldn't want to freak anyone out!

Thanks again and sorry so long-winded!

There is a fee if you take the bottle to dinner BUT if you ask a bartender in a lounge BEFORE dinner for a wine glass and then pour it in your room. Take the glass of wine to dinner then they dont charge you.

We are! There will be 4 of us...Ken, me, DD, and her friend. My recommendation....get there early and wait at the door if you want a table where you can sit. The first year we went, all we could find was a table that was SRO.

Marc, Michael and I are sharing a table. If you want to join us maybe we could get one of the big round tables. When I went in 2004 we got a table at the back with the high seat chairs that was right in front of the cheese display. I'll be in line early so let me know and I'll grab what I can.

IF it is strep, 24 hours on the medication and she won't be contagious anymore.

But remember, it's probably a virus and the medication won't touch it but she'll be better in 3 days anyway!!

Dh is seeing TONS of kids with sore throats lately. And he gets 1, MAYBE 2 positive streps a day. Most of the times his numbers are like for every 15-20 cultures he does, 1 or 2 are strep. So chances are really good that it's not strep.

Pretty close. It's not instantanous though, it takes 24 hours. And it sounds like she started it at lunch on Friday so lunch on Saturday (pre-DIS meet) makes her not contagious. Of course, if it's a virus, she still would be contagious, but at least she's not spreading strep in that case.

We did that in January. We uncorked it in the room, then carried our glasses to dinner. I know, cheap. Our assistant server was so impressed with my dad's homemade wine (and my dad gave him a bottle) that he told us "bring it to the dining room uncorked and I'll pour it for you and not charge you the fee." :)

Always good to get your assistant server drunk! :lmao: (actually, he drank it on his off time!)

And then my dad promised that I'd bring him more wine when I sailed in May. So I schleped 2 more bottles of wine onboard for Denis (and gave it to some head server because Denis wasn't back from break) Still don't know if Denis ever got his wine!!! :lmao:

Or ask your room steward to bring you some. We told ours we wanted 2 wine glasses a day delivered and he brought us a whole tray of them the first day (probably 16 wine glasses.) He stuck them in the closet and we never had to ask again!

And, so we don't forget, I'm going right now to get them out of the hall closet and put them on the couch with the rest of our suitcases. Trust me, I have all of these things to bring for different people, stuff for Julie, your clothes, kids gifts. I don't want to forget anything!!!

What type of alcohol did you bring? I was thinking of bringing a bottle of wine but I heard of the un-corking fee so I figured I better not. Do you think I could bring one bottle on?

Jeff - we brought wine last year and opened it in our room... so no corkage fee. I think you can carry a glass to dinner with you. :)

Good Morning All :surfweb:
Nearly Live from OKW (Bldg 37 off of Old Turtlepond Road) if anybody is nearby - we'll be in the quite pool in a few hours). I need to cool it on the smilies, with the dial-up connection through my cell phone things ARE ALOT slo w e r.

Sorry to hear about the big backup in the northeast - very aggravating I hate those.

AM VERY glad to hear people are making it down - Karen and I are recuperating from the last big packing flurry so we are going to take it easy today until heading over to BCV for the meet. We won’t be hard to spot.

Until then – have fun today everyone!

Hey, what am I chopped liver! I'll be in and out all day today with a wedding and the homecoming dance tonight, but I'll check in periodically. I would hate for you to get too lonely! I think I am just going to stay up all night since I have to leave at 4:30 am Sunday for our flight. My daughter gets home around 11pm tonight from the dance, so maybe I can catch 2-3 hours of sleep. And is there a meetup on the ship or are we supposed to wear buttons or what?

There's no formal night on the Member Cruise - only a Pirate Night.

Some of us tend to print magnets out for our stateroom doors - makes for fun to know where friends are.

There is a meet on the ship before sail away - just look around for a big group having fun, fun, fun around 3 - 3:30 Deck 10 Midship! We will have buttons on.

I won't be checking any threads today. First church, then a quick lunch in order to get Nick to tech rehearsal by 1. This will be the first rehearsal I don't sit through---b/c it will last about 8 hours!!! :earseek: So KT and I are going to pick apples (Winesaps, my favorite,) see a movie (Flicka,) do some Christmas shopping at Easton, and have a nice meal out. (dependant on how she feels---she's viral. I'm hoping she's up for it b/c I'd love to get all of this DONE!) It'll be weird leaving Nick "alone" at the theater.....but I've been reassured someone will keep an eye on him! :)

Good morning guys. Enjoying some early morning time at the internet cafe.

Except for at the port yesterday morning this is the first chance I've had to log on.

Andy - thanks for the great shots!

Carol & Karen - we miss you guys and wish you were sailing with us.

Karen - please tell Nick thank you from Mark for his smoothie. We couldn't understand what the girl who came over said so it took a while to figure out who had sent it. We should have known! Tell Nick it was a vanilla one and I have a picture of Mark enjoying it that I'll send after the cruise.

Got some great gifts already and one of the best is Roy Disney is on the ship with us. Sadly due to a family emergency Ducky is not. While I think this is going to be an awesome cruise I really feel that up to this part the planning team from SSMC05 did a better job, but I'm keeping my mind open until the end.

Thanks for asking! We've just been really really busy b/c of the play. Nick had a NINE HOUR rehearsal on Sunday. Rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday didn't get out until 10:30---and then he had to come home, have a snack and get in the shower (b/c he comes home with his purple hair) So none of us have gotten to bed before midnight this week! Tonight is final dress rehearsal and tomorrow is opening night. At least once the shows start we won't be there so late! The author is coming tonight so that is REALLY exciting. This is the world premiere of the show though and the director thinks she may be cutting a lot of lines. That's really going to be tough for the actors---they've had these lines ingrained in their heads so long and they know what cues to listen for....when you cut lines that all gets mucked up!! :earseek:

Karen,

Whew, I'm tired just reading what you have been keeping up with. Life sure isn't boring when you have kids who are active in outside activities. Does the color actually wash out of his hair each evening? I know I've seen people color their hair for Halloween and it doesn't come all out with just one washing.

Yup, it's not too bad. They actually wash out his green over a sink using a cup dumped over his head! Last night he didn't get all of it out and I saw bits of green and purple deep in his scalp. :earseek: So today he took another shower. :) Looks good now, but his hair is getting a bit ....what's the word....like straw. Hi everyone!! We're home now too. We got home last night, but after bringing everything in from the car, reading my 600 new emails and reading this thread and the LIVE thread, I didn't have the energy to post!!

We had a GREAT time with all of our DIS friends!!! Chris will be posting today about the DIS picture exchange. Basically, if you're interested, burn your pictures to CD and mail them to us. We will compile them into one group, and burn DVDs (or CDs) of all the pictures and mail them out. Please don't edit your pictures by changing names or sizes, as Chris has a program to do that and it makes it easier on him. But, of course, if there are pictures that you don't want to share, just don't put them on the CD. More details to come from Chris.

I have to agree with Mary though about the hard sell. :-( We ARE members we KNOW how wonderful it is you don't have to hard sell us DVC! It was a bit of a turnoff. I also think they dropped the ball with some of the "gifts". The 50th Anniversary ears are clearance merchandise, they could have at least embroidered them with the DVC member or DVC member cruise I thought. Also the wine glasses they gave us at Palo maybe could have had a "member cruise 2006" on them to make them extra special. Everything else is very nice.

I was dissappointed in the fireworks cruise and let those in charge know. I thought it was supposed to have a dessert buffet. Instead we got the food items given out at the free members days at PI, cotton candy, pretzels, granola bars, packaged brownies :-( I also think I'm a little pirated out and was also expecting Wishes and not Hallowishes. Still enjoyable (due to being with DIS friends) just not what I expected.

We did so much on our last day at WDW. We had a nice quick breakfast of mickey waffles at SSR where we stayed post cruise...coincidentally getting the SAME room number as our honeymoon room in the contemporary, so that was a bit unnerving and nice! Then we headed to EPCOT and rode the new Nemo ride which was terrific and also did the Crush attraction which we all love. The weather was just spectacular and I often found myself thinking about Matt and Julie, how perfect the weather was for them. We then headed over to MK (saw Tom and Ann Marie heading out from adventureland) did the Pirates ride and watched a good live show with Jack Sparrow. The cast member who played him was such an incredible likeness, dd kept asking me to get his picture! We ate at Peco's Bills which believe it or not we had never eaten at before and DD was just thrilled they had veggie burgers so she could eat too, LOL. Then we walked over to the People Mover (don't ask it's a tradition) and got some ice cream as we waited for the 3pm parade. Again I can't say enough about the weather, just gorgeous! The parade was a bit of a dissappointment as it was mostly the same floats with a little modification as last year and the song isn't too catchy but nice. Then we had to leave :-( I hate the last day at WDW as a feeling of gloom and return to the real world predominates but we sure had fun!

Now we are home, sorting our STUFF and doing wash, have to pick up the pups (2hr ride each way) later today. Can't wait for my puppy kisses.
It's been a wonderful vacation (I'm glad I was able to keep the real world out of my thoughts and mind while away) and I don't think we'll have another like it for quite some time so I'm a little depressed today.

Thank you all for the fun, companionship, laughs and memories!

Hi everyone

I hope everyone made it home safely! I haven't tried to catch up with what I missed posted in here, but I will.

Cameron & I are home from MI. To say it was cold would be an understatement. Last night, the air temp was doing to the low 40's but the wind blew at about 40-50 miles per hour. We got our tent pitched as well as anchored down with stakes, only to have the wind pick it up and carry it probably another 25' away. Back to the drawing board, but we then left the doors and windows open to allow the wind to travel through. Cameron & his tent buddies tent broke while we were all down at the dunes as well as the second one took a lot of damage. Even during the night, a couple of leaders were met by the sides of their tent and got up to do 3 a.m. tent inspections.

It was very, very cold. I found I couldn't warm up enough until I got inside my sleeping bag (at about 8:30 no less --- my cruise week certainly caught up with me :) ). Being I slept with all my clothes on, as well as long underwear, a sweatshirt and my winter jacket along with a hat, I was pretty toasty during the night. It was more pleasant today as the wind was not blowing as it was yesterday.

We got in Friday night/Saturday morning about 1 a.m. I slept most of the way home, which is unusual for me as I usually don't sleep while traveling. Again, I think our long week caught up with me. :)

It was SO nice to spend time with friends we met this cruise as well as the past cruise. I hope to have the opprotunity to see you all again!

The highlights for me were Friends :grouphug: , Roy Disney and brunch in Palo.

Cameron had an absolutely fantastic time with Deanna, Nick & Mary. I know if they were not sailing with us that Cameron would not have had as much fun as he did. :thumbsup2

Walker had a fantastic time as well with Nick & Tyler. I found it very ironic that out of all the kids in the kids club, these 2 boys were the ones that Walker made friends with.

I can't wait to see all the pictures taken & hope that everyone is going to participate in the photo DVD exchange. Sandy & John took so many pictures -- it seemed like they always had a camera in hand. It will be like reliving the cruise again.

I also can't wait to get started on the circle journal for this cruise. The one I received back is such a precious memory ----- something I could not have done on my own.

I'll be back later --- we have a lot of settling in to do.

Thanks for sharing your comment about the golden ears ;) I thought the same thing. They probably got them for a really good price. I found that to be a slight insult, but joined in the fun and put them on top of my pirate hat. I would have LOVED to have had the new Year of a Million Dreams Ears instead!

The weather was just spectacular and I often found myself thinking about Matt and Julie, how perfect the weather was for them. We then headed over to MK (saw Tom and Ann Marie heading out from adventureland) did the Pirates ride and watched a good live show with Jack Sparrow.

We were already back home in NJ, but I found myself thinking of Julie + Matt all day. :goodvibes

Wow a Pirate Live Show! We didn't know they were doing this. Was it in the streets by the attraction? That sounds fun!

Then we walked over to the People Mover (don't ask it's a tradition) and got some ice cream as we waited for the 3pm parade. Again I can't say enough about the weather, just gorgeous!

People Mover is ALWAYS a tradition for us. We love it, and hope they will keep it going. Hint: Look for the cars with the number on the lower front. That is the lead car and will break out from the pack as the ride first starts.

We're home too! Got in about an hour and a half ago. Saw some wonderful fall colors on the drive home. Except for one nasty patch of rain on Saturday morning we had beautiful weather the whole trip. We did get a later start on Saturday due to getting in so late and the storms rolling in. Moving from Eastern to Central helped and we still had dinner with Mark's Aunt and Uncle in Franklin, TN. The time change last night also helped.

Ilene - sorry to hear you didn't care for the Wishes cruise. To me it was one of the highlights of the week! I think both Roxann and Deena mentioned that the desserts were better last year but all those snacks made for some great snacking on the road for us. :) I loved the enthusiasm of our group! Getting to see the Electrical Water Pagent was wonderful (one of our all time favorites) and hearing Chris sing to each part made it even better. Loved Hallow-Wishes as it features the perimeter fireworks. It was a great way to end our trip.

Cindy - your 3 bags made it safely home with us. We'll have to coordinate when we can get them to you (or I could sell the contents on eBay) :lmao:

Our friends definately made this cruise extra special. Thanks to all of you for a wonderful cruise and some special days before and after.

Loved the turn out at the Saturday DIS meet and all the little surprises that started then! The party bus was a blast! Thanks to Roxann for all the coordination and for Tim and Tina for the donuts and water! Meeting up with everyone in the terminal was great fun, especially when John got to spend time with DeeVeeCee! The 3pm meet on board was hot, hot, hot! We may have to rethink that spot and move to deck 9. :)

To our tablemates Mary, Karen, Annmarie, Tom, Chris and Mike; thank you for 4 wonderful evenings. Thanks to Cindy's coordination we were also part of the big DIS group and it was fun to talk to the other tables as well. The highlight of dinner had to be the cakes for Julie and Matt and having everyone singing to them!

Loved coming back to the cabin and always finding a little surprise like a magnet. Did anyone else get DVC coasters in their fish????? Not sure where those came from.

Liberty Tree Tavern was a blast and there seemed to be DISers everywhere! Sorry we missed the meet. We did Pirates and then headed out of the park as we didn't have tickets for MNSSHP.

So thanks again to everyone for an awesome week. Can't wait to sail with you again!

Hi There Gang!!!
Well we are back home and in one piece. It was a bumpy flight at times due to wind but our pilot got us on the ground in one piece. We had a quick lunch with my parents today then came home to get unpacked and start some laundry.

I want to thank all my DIS friends for making this a great cruise for me and my family. We had a wonderful time each night at dinner with our table mates, Curt & Karen, Julie & Matt, and of course Jeff!!

Hanging out with everyone at Castaway Cay was so much fun, and the Banana boat ride was a blast, I hope my pictures come out from that disposable waterproof camera!

I know Nick was happy that Cameron & Deanna were there for him to hang out with. His vacation just wouln't have been the same without them.

We had such a fun night during the Bachelor/Bachlorette Party. Boy do I have some good pictures! Loved your napkin folding John!!!

I need to catch up on some much needed sleep! For some crazy reason we didn't seem to get to bed before midnight everynight!!! :lmao:
Have a good night and safe travels to those who are still not home yet!

Just discovered this thread - anyone know if there's a formal night on this cruise? And what's with everyone printing magnets? For what?

And is there a meetup on the ship or are we supposed to wear buttons or what?

Leaving at 0-dark-30 tomorrow for the flight down; haven't even started packing yet!

Hi All! We got home about 45 minutes ago. Our flight was delayed due to heavy winds in the Northeast.

We had an absolute BLAST on this cruise. We received wonderful gifts on Saturday at the pre-cruise DIS meet and the party bus was a lot of fun. Thanks Roxann for coordinating and thanks Tim and Tina for the Krispy Kremes and water! I don't eat donuts but Tom said they were really good and still warm!

The meet at the port was also fun and we met a few more people I didn't get to meet at BCV the day before since we arrived late. Tom had an interesting conversation with Miss Dee Vee Cee. I'd love to see that recording! Beach Blanket Buffet for lunch was nice and so was the sail-away party on deck 10. Special thanks to Mark, Mary, Chris, Mike, Mary and Karen for letting us join you as table mates and making us feel very comfortable. We had a great time and hope to do it again soon.

We took advantage of the ship-board special and signed up for another cruise. Hopefully, we'll be able to do another one DIS cruise with everyone in the near future!

I'll post more about our trip in a bit. I need to get some stuff done first.

Wow! What a week! It went by SOOOO FAST!

We had a great time! Before, during and after the cruise. The bus was fun and I will be emailing the company with GREAT things to say about Thomas. He was sure a fun bus driver and did not care about a "clean" bus, right Diana ;)

We had wonderful tablemates Ann Marie, Tom, Brooke and Jessica. Kiele really liked Brooke and Jessica.

I want to THANK everyone for the gifts and mysterious magnets. Thank You Cindy for the tie for my fish extender. Our pirate flag magnet was stolen and if Cindy had not given me a tie for the extender it probably would have been taken too.:guilty:

MNSSHP was the best! We did everything and did not leave until almost midnight!

The fireworks cruise and Hallowishes were great! Ilene sorry you did not know it was going to be Hallowishes. I thought I told everyone and with MNSSHP scheduled that evening I thought everyone knew. The pre-cruise was a dissappointment and I talked to some folks working that evening and I will be contacting Grand Gatherings this week about the snacks instead of the dessert selection that I was expecting. If I had not done the cruise before I would not have known what to expect. The water pageant and the fireworks are always awesome from that vantage point, but the pre-cruise snacks were a HUGE let down. It was fun being with everyone! We were a little crazy!:lmao:

I will have to go read the live thread later this week. I am doing laundry and putting things away. We had my parents over for dinner and my SIL stopped by because she is getting married on the 9th. So, starting this weekend we have my DH's family flying in for a wedding. I was just called to work tomorrow and I accepted because it is a Dentist I knew from years ago and he requested me so it should be fun!

Thanks for all the laughs and it was great meeting everyone! We had an awesome vacation and now I know why you guys keep going on the Member cruises.

I will try to get DH to burn our photos on CD. We did not take too many because I hate hauling the camera around all the time.

Gotta go catch up on some more emails. Good night!

How sad, I am writing this post late Sunday night back at work. We enjoyed the cruise so much. We are looking forward to going again in a couple of years. Can't afford to go each year and go to WDW a couple of times on top of the cruise. We were able to get an earlier flight out to Indy and cut over 6 hrs. off our arrivial time. This gave us time to go over and see our new granddaughter. She was born right before we had to leave for the cruise. We saw her a whole 20 minutes or so before we had to leave. We used the internet onboard to keep in touch and had pic. sent to us so it worked out OK. Believe me we had to cram and cram all the gifts they gave us and we bought for the kids into out luggage and I mean cram. Next time we will take a completely empty suitcase to hold all the stuff. We are already planning out next trip in Sept. or Nov. of 2007, can't wait....smjj

Hi everyone, I arrived back in Lakeland tonight about 8:30. I have a lot to catch up on with all of the threads but wanted to say what a fantastic cruise/trip this was and that I had the best time with everyone. Thanks to all who made this vacation special, I don't want to single anyone out because I know I'd forget someone.

I did see Matt yesterday at the Yacht Club lobby but didn't go up to him or his family as the Disney police were out in force. The gazebo was setup as well. I hope everything worked out well for them and the weather did hold out until a little past 9PM when it rained for 5-10 minutes, at least it did at Epcot.

Congratulations to Julie and Matt!!!

Before leaving tonight I ran into Ken and MaryJ at the boardwalk. They are leaving tomorrow. We also shared a table, their daughter Dana was there as well, at Party for the Senses last night and had a great time. I had a lot more to drink than at the bachelor party on the ship, so did Ken.

I'll post more as the week goes on. I will start on the DVDs probably in mid November after I get back from my trip to NJ. I will need addresses for those I don't have from last year but I don't have much room in my PM box. I'll clean that out later this week.

Good night all and see you on the thread,

Jeff

Greetings from snowy Colorado! Sheesh! I was on a tropical island on Wednesday, flying home to a blizzard on Thursday, and enjoying 50-60 degree sunshine on Friday. Only in Colorado!

To anyone who went on the DVC Member Cruise...do you have an extra 1-2 copies of the Personal Navigator for Day 3 that you can give up? In the mad packing frenzy on Wednesday night, I somehow tossed all of my Day 3 copies. This would be the Navigator featuring Roy Disney on the front and "Disney Animation" as the theme. One copy would be great, two copies would be fantastic. I will gladly pay you for the Navigator(s) and all shipping/postage costs. Thanks so much!

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone in the DIS group for making this Member Cruise so memorable and special. I will send out a longer THANK YOU in another posting, but it's Monday and I gotta get ready for work.

Good morning everyone!!! We're getting back into the swing of things here too. We were to bed early last night, and up early this morning for work and school. I need to do grocery shopping, but thankfully no laundry, because I did it all in the room.

Plus, I need to get ready for Halloween around here too. I think that we're going to one of Emily's friend's house for Halloween, because their part of town really does it up for Halloween.

Well, off to making my grocery list.

Morning :surfweb:

WOW! I laid down to watch TV last night at around 6 p.m. Walker was just getting into the bathtub and that the last I knew. I think the week caught up with me yet I'm still dragging this morning.

All of my thank you letters are written to DCL, WDW & the bus company. There were a couple of people I wanted to make sure were acknowledged for helping make this trip extra special. I'm very happy that there were no less than magical moments from any of the Disney Staff -- as we encountered in August when I took the kids down. And, I love to commend people when they do a good job.

We still have a lot of unpacking to do as well as laundry. :laundy: Gary did a lot, but all of the items Cameron & I took camping need to be washed as they all smell like a campfire. :crazy2: So, nap time for me today will be doing some of those things. The kids are back in school today -- I'm fairly certain tonight will be a heavy home work night as well as Scouts for Cameron.

I do have an address that I posted over on the formerly-live thread. I contacted our guide Friday morning because we didn't have a chance to drop our DVC member Satisfaction Survey into the box on the ship. For anyone else who didn't, or would like to add further comments, here's where I was told to mail my survey -- which will go out in today's mail:
Sue VanWinkle
DVC Marketing
200 Celebration Place
Celebration, FL 34747

I think it's important for the planning team to hear both the positives and negatives of our experience so I was very honest in our opinion of this cruise.

Have a great Monday -- it's going to be a long one! :scared:

It was great to come back to the room every evening to find little surprises on our door.

QUESTION ABOUT BROKEN MICKEY>>>

Does anyone know who I should contact about a broken stateroom gift? We only opened one of each gift. When we got home, I opened the big Mickey Ears Hat box to take out the Mickey with the cork board and saw both his leg and his arm were broken :guilty:

There were no splintered pieces anywhere in the box, so I believe it was put into the box this way. I don't want DVC to think I'm asking for anything "extra" so I can sell it on e-bay or anything. I just want to have one that isn't broken. I'll even send the broken one back.

Any thoughts on who I should call?

Thanks!

Georgie, I'm sorry that happened. I suppose we should all check ours to make sure they are intact.

Do you have a DVC Guide? I know that is who I would start with. I know our guide well enough to know that she would work to help us straighten our the situation.

This is the first time I've had the chance to post since getting back last night. I came home with one additional gift from Florida - a nasty cold and I have to fly down to Atlanta tomorrow!!

We got back last night, after stopping off to visit our youngest at AU in DC. With the change of the clocks, the train got into Lorton at 7:30. She was NOT happy about our showing up so early :lmao:

We had a great time with you all and thank you all for letting us share the cruise with you. I took around 560 pictures by the time I was done between the cruise and our three days in WDW. Got a great spot for the MNSSHP parade. Sorry about not showing up at the meet, but my knee started really hurting on Thursday and I went to first aid to get a wrap for the knee otherwise, I would have had a terrible time walking around the park. When we passed POTC, the line was non-existent, so we went in and didn't make it back in time for the meet.

Now, it's back to reality. I found out the program manager who I am working with and have developed a close working relationship and friendship with, resigned last week. SO I have to break in a new program manager :rotfl:

Kevin - if you're reading this, I'll be in Alpharetta next week, but it's a hort triup so I may not be able to catch up with you. Next time for sure.
