Here is a another place in (of all places) Erie, PA. http://www.splashlagoon.com/new72688/map/
From Albany (sorry can't spell schenechty) 5hr 43 min
From Chicago 6hr 38 min
From Detroit 3 hr 55 min
From Cleveland 1 hr 25 min (Erin hosts :rotfl2:)
What put the twinkle in my eye about this place is the indoor laser tag area (KNOCK KNOCK Cameron, Nick, Alex & Ryan, John, Gary, Mike, Tom, Bruce, Rich & Jeff - wanna come and play?)
Another 2cents for the pot, BUT I think this is closer to center for everyone concerned. Whatta think bout these apples?
1. Um where is the flight time from DFW and how close is the airport?
2. WHY, WHY are there ONLY MEN listed for laser tag? Now I am HORRIBLE at laser tag but COME ON girls can play too! :(

I was thinking the same thing---we can't get kicked out of a noisy water park!
Chris--our personal travel planner, you rock!! :thumbsup2
There's a room that sleeps 12! Who's staying with me? :lmao:
I vote for putting all the kids and Curt in that room! :rotfl2:

OK here is a TZ moment. Just tonight Karen was telling me about the conversations about doing a get together at an indoor water park. She remembered seeing Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky and knew about the new place at Cedar Point. We has NO IDEA about that third place (but it sounds really cool). And in keeping the NY folks in mind we were looking for someplace half way between Chicago and New York.

It's Schenectady!!! :lmao:
OK, I'm gonna sound like an old lady here---but who would have known there would be that many of these places nowadays!
Sandusky is actually rather convenient for us because we can at least gain some points with the out-laws and go visit them for a few hours, or better yet, I can send Bruce and stay at the bar all day. So I'm all for Sandusky. :drinking1

I'm only a NYer but the Cleveland airport can't be more than an hour from where these places are.
I'd really stink at laser tag, so I'll be at the bar! :drinking1

Oy! What a mess. Glad you got your computer back up and running. Sometimes I really hate this machine, but what would we do without them these days?!
Speaking of which. We just ordered our new Dell Notebook with the core 2 duo. DH can't say enough good things about the core 2 duo chip (one chip he worked on that he is very proud of).

Good morning everyone!
Busy around here. Did all our Christmas cards last night. Now I just need to stuff, seal and stamp and they will be on their way. Have our holiday party at work today as well as a number of meetings, plus some work that needs to get done before I leave. I think it is going to be a long day. Worth it though because this time tomorrow we'll be at the airport waiting for our flight!

Marla,
Another coincidence between our sons. Mine was ALWAYS on stage crew..did lighting and loved it. I always wished I could see him on stage but also knew he was comfortable where he was. He got hired once after that by an outside agency to do lighting for a performance. I think he just liked wearing the black tshirts that said "crew", LOL.
LOL! Ilene, I just hope my son turns out as nice as yours has. Right now, I can't imagine mine being in law school! ;)

Curt, my humble apologies for NOT leaving us out. :worship: :worship:
Okay, now that I've had some coffee, let's see. This all started because we were talking about Cedar Point and now we've change the discussion to talk about getting together before Cedar Point -- which I don't believe we've finished talking about Cedar Point but I can multi-task (sometimes).
If we're talking about meeting at a water park sooner than July, I can tell you that the weekend of 2/10 is out for us. We are also in Hilton Head 3/25-3/30 so that won't work for us.
And, much like Curt, I'm a bit leary to plan a long drive during the winter months so even though we'd love to see you all, my feeling is that January, February and early March might not be the best time.

Hi Jacqui, nice to see you again.
Walker would love to see Tyler. Like Tyler, Walker doesn't understand that Nick and Tyler don't just live here and can't get together all the time. OH & Canada are no farther to him that the trip to school or store or whereever. I know he would love to see them and am glad to hear that your planning on Cedar Point.
As for my taking Cameron and you taking Walker, it's a deal. I don't know your Cameron very well but my Cameron has always been a much easier child than his younger brother.
Same here, Cameron is very content to read, play computer games etc and actually will hang with his younger brother with little complaint. Tyler is more high maintenance and needs to be on the go 24/7. Thankfully it snowed last night so they can play outside and do things. The cold and rain of the past week has really been a bummer--stuck inside and driving the adults crazy!
Winter travel is not exactly my idea of fun but a water park idea may work. It will depend on the drive and the weather conditions. Remember we are further north and the roads are not great most of the time. The weekend of March 2-4 is out as we have to go to a wedding in Montreal and that drive is really treacherous in winter and the kids have "March break" from March 12-16--I think the US kids get a week in April??? as Spring Break?
I will watch and see what comes of this.

Hello everyone from OKW! Having a great time with family and they are starting to get ready to leave. It's been a great time with my brothers and sisters and we are all thinking about doing this again either next Dec or every other year. I do have to save some time for Lil' Christopher to come and see WDW!
Yesterday we went over to AK and saw the Finding Nemo show - wow! And the Osbourne Lights are have a different twist too - very sweet! Having fun here and never want to go home! Going over to MVMCP on Thursday after the Member Mixer - hope the weather holds out!
See ya soon Mary and Mark - the weather is a bit cooler than last year but great for spending time in the parks.
Oh, and I have to post this pic of when Christopher met Santa.

It may be ify weather during these months but it is cheaper. I think most of us would like to save some money. So,we can still go to Cedar Point in July. We even have other trips in there too.The way it's going, I'm going to be gone every month!:lmao:

We're game as long as we can cancel.
Being we have the 6 hour 38 minute commute, it just might take us a while longer. Please tell me we don't have to drive through any mountains! :scared: Mountains are bad enough in perfect weather conditions, I'm not sure Gary & I would survive driving through them in the winter --- by that I mean our marriage.
Who else is game? :goodvibes

I don't remember mountains in Sandusky or in Erie. I think your safe.Which one are we going to aim for?I faxed Great Wolf last night for group booking info. We will have to have 10 rooms to make a group. I think ,I can get some friends from here to book a room too.So we should be able to hit 10.

Okay, getting that out of the way makes me feel better. :thumbsup2
Do we know which weekend we're talking? :listen:
For us, it's going to depend on that as to whether we can commit or not. There are a couple weekends in January that are out, a couple in February and the end of March as well as probably another weekend in March. Cameron camps monthly with Boy Scouts so that chews up a lot of the weekend and Walker has his Adventure Guides weekend coming up as well. Busy, busy, busy. :drive:

Riding the el. It's hard to tell in the picture, but Cameron was pressing his face against the plexiglass. Some of the people we were with thought it was great fun to try to scare me 1/2 to death. Trying to tell me that Cameron got off the train, Walker got off the train but the worst was when Chris & John jumped out and knocked on the window from the outside at one of the stops. This Mom tends to panic more times than not, so I'm glad I provided some amusement:

Well, it is kind of true. We don't usually make drinks at home -- a bottle of beer and/or cooler type thing is the most we do around here. It's our friends that show us over to the darker side. :teleport:
Annmarie, Tina & I made a couple of kool-aids Saturday night. Somehow they didn't taste as good as the ones on the ship. It could in part be because we didn't really use much of anything to measure with except the letter O on the solo cup -- and then Tina gave up on that and just added what she thought was 1/2. :teeth:
But.....Tina, tell Tim when he sees the crate that it will be a little empty compared to when he brought it into the hotel. A lot of the bottles went home with our Michigan friends and I don't believe they have any intentions of bringing them back to the next get together. :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1
The Killer kool-aids really didnt taste good at all...I think I added too much booze to mine...Oh well! I dont think Tim will care if all of that booze is gone...He brought it and was wanting to empty some of it out of his house. I think there will be more at the next meet, we are not big drinkers unless we are in a crowd, so the house is full of booze.

Are you in for a winter get together and/or cedar point?

Walker was feeling so much better Sunday night. Then he realized that he was hungry -- famished and couldn't get enough to eat while trying to find softer things to let the gum heal a little bit.
Gail, how is Deanna doing today?

I have a question -- totally off topic. When we get together, do you consider it a DIS meet? Mary asked me this question on Saturday and I know my answer. I won't post my thoughts just yet as I'm curious to hear what others have to say.
I'm in for The Dells...I love the indoor waterparks in the winter!!
I would call this weekend a meeting of friends...Alot of my friends and family asked me what did you do for your birthday? I told them I had some friends in from out of town this weekend and we hung out and had fun all weekend.

Neat pictures Cindy. We did have a good time. John has a close up of Cameron with his face pressed against the glass.
Glad we have the picture from the security camera screen :rotfl:
We are up for the water park get together. We don't have any problem with the winter weather. That's why I'm leaning towards driving to WDW in February. That way if the weather is bad and they close the airports I can still drive out of here!
Which park are we talking about - that safari looking one? I don't remember the name, but I think it's in Sandusky.

I actually think Curts 6 hours 38 minutes calculation was from you to Erie, PA....you're probably about an hour and a half closer than that to Sandusky.
I don't care which place we pick. They all look really cool. If I was going just us, I'd pick the safari one because it looks really really cool---but I'm open to any of them. We really don't have any bad weekend after January. We should probably avoid President's week unless we can get a good rate.

Hmmm, I don't think that you'll have as much use for them, but I'm sure that you'll find the right opportunity. Besides, I'm sure that once you move to Florida, you'll want to venture back up north during the winter, just to sport your fashion boots!!! :rotfl2:

Mark and Mary, safe traveling. I know you will have a great time.
Cindy, thanks for posting the pics. Looks like it was fun.
Hmmm, sounds like there will be much fun planned for the cold cabin fever months if the indoor water parks are an option. What a great idea!

I am sorry we couldnt fit in the trip to Chicago but I may have a little more weekend time in Jan-Feb (not burning down any buildings on purpose then)
We have a big old two story house to work on this weekend and then winter break.

Gail, how is Deanna doing today?
Ok, bad mom moment here. I have never used Neosporin before. Yes, I have 4 kids and Sunday is the first time I ever purchased this stuff. The scrape on Deanna's leg had alot of black specs in it, so I thought it was crud from the treadmill so I thought I would get it to help ward off any infection.
Deanna left the band aid (gauze) off all evening yesterday and it looked like it was trying to dry up/growing a scab. We put the band aid back on for school with some neosporin and she came home with it slightly bleeding and oozing this icky stuff - not alot just about the size of a quarter. So does the neosporin do that to a wound? Is that it's way of cleaning it out? I have no clue. I was hoping she would be able to leave it to air out this evening, but she's out babysitting.
So is this normal?

She had to have these boots - they're not very good for playing in the snow, but I think she was going for the look more than function.
If her feet keep growing, you two can share your boots. :rotfl: We had to buy her a size 9. She normally wears an 8 in shoes, but the 8's in the boots were a bit tight and I figured she would never get a winters use out of them.

I wear boots in Texas - course it's in the 30s here in the am these days - I love my Uggs!
Gail - hmm that sounds weird to be oozing again, was she picking at it at all?
February or March meet - we'd be up for that assuming it's near an airport and well the weather cooperates. I'm working 12 - 13 hour days so no time to select which one, someone tell us what the consensus is and if you will pick up 1 or 2 crazy's from texas and we'll be there.
Matt has class on Friday nights and is on a trimester so he may have to come in later (oh and I prob can't take a Friday off since I seem to have scheduled time off in May and June already for some crazies!

No it was covered by the band aid which is a non stick 4 x 4 gauze pad and she had jeans on all day. She came home from babysitting, but I didn't get a chance to look at it again - she was out the door to her girlfriends. Obviously it's not slowing her down at all!
I hope you and Matt could come for a weekend this winter. It will be a nice get away. Ok, coming from Texas it might be a bit colder, but we'll have a great time!

We'd love to come - I remember very fun family events as a child with my family and others holed up in the holiday inn "holidomes" swimming and eating/drinking and doing the water park thing in the middle of winter!
Shh no one tell Matt - we know how much he loves water ;) perhaps he'll bring poker chips!

Sounds like it could be a little infection Gail. Keep the neosporin on it and keep it covered at school. It sound like a bad abrasions and those tend o ooze some anyway. It will heal better with the neosporin on it though.
I hope its all gone soon !

Ok I'm all caught up! Phew!
It's almost like some precruise days worth of postings!
Ok so now we want too add a waterpark meet in Feb? Not sure if we will be able to do that one or not. We'll see. The safari one in Erie Pa did look really cute.
Mary - Christopher looks so cute sitting on Santa's lap!
Mark & Mary - Safe Travels! Have an awesome time at the World!
Cindy - Great Pics!
Gail - Deanna's leg should be fine, I concur with Steve's assesment of the situation!
Ok I hope I didn't forget anything. I'm pooped. It's just been a long few days at work.
Tommorow night Nick's Boy Scout troop is doing an Iron Chef Competition, this should be interesting. Hopefully there will be no food poisoning! :rotfl:
Oh and I'll be missing chat on Friday. Jeff & I have a holiday party to go to for his office and I have a crop that night which I will just be stopping by since they do the holiday open house and have some scrapbooking stuff on sale!

So is this normal?Gail, stop useing the neosporin now. You only needed it for the pain and cleaning the fist day. The meds will keep it soft and oozing. Just cover the big one at night with gauze. They need to air out to dry up. Hope this helps.

How soon you forget about us....your baseball buddies!! :sad1: Distance from Mt. Vernon, IN to Erie, PA.....9 hrs. and 27 minutes. Cedar Point is doable, but it's at the outside edge...almost 8 hours. This was why I put my .02 in for Indy. I know it doesn't work for the New York people, but a girl can try!! If you have a meet in Erie, I think you'd have to count us out on this one!

Greetings all - long long day and I'm about to call it a night.
Lots to catch up and while it was wonderful to have an office Christmas lunch at Maggiano's it was 3 hours out of my day that should have been used to finish things up. Add to that a couple of meetings that had to be done before I left and I didn't get out of the office until 7pm. Home to pick up Mark and out to dinner (a before vacation tradition). He noticed when I pulled up that my front bumper was smashed in. I did it on the rock hard snow this morning. :guilty:
Cheryl and Jeff I'm going to pm you my cell phone. I think Amy already has it. If anyone can make it to the Merry Member Mixer or if you want to get together on Sunday give me a call.

Talked with my cruise roomie Karen NY today - she has arrived at WDW and tomorrow Mary and Mark are coming down - sounds like a mini party for DVC.
Boy, do I have something to share - one of the in-laws who happens to be on this trip went to visit someone who works for accounting on WDW property. Want to know what he said about the DVCers? I was told that they "love" us! Hmmmm - wonder what that means? Just thought I would share that.
Planning to do the Member Mixer and hope to see lots of others! Still having a blast and plan to continue that momentum til next Wed at least - that's when I check out.
Sounds like another meet in planning - sure hope to make it to the next one. Thanks for sharing the pics from the Chicago meet - looks like another fun time.

I LOVE my Uggs! I don't usually spend that much for shoes/boots but Nordstrom had a fantastic sale last xmas and I treated myself...well I usually have buyer remorse and feel bad after spending so much NOT so this time they are the best purchase I ever made I think. They are just sooooo comfortable and warm. I'm trying to take good care of them so they last forever, LOL.

Hi, I am caught up. Reading of these adventures makes me want to go.
I went to the obgyn on Tues., they wanted to do a d&c today, unfortunately we could not get a straight answer if hospital would be covered.
I went to the ER. ( which I will just say did not solve anything)
I will be trying every herbal remedy in the book.
I have an appointment at another Obgyn for Monday, I will be at mousefest but probably not doing much - a few meets not as mush as I planned.
No fast rides. (No splash :[ no startours or anything.)
If anyone has any home remedies - PM me! I'll be leaving tommorow.

Thanks, Amy for sending out the Tiara. I'm just as guilty for not sending out the extra DVD's to you. They will be on the way on Saturday.
MaryJ, I do love my Denises for most projects but Addi Turbos are my absolute favs. It's nice to have a full set but since I'm always working on about 15 things at once I never seem to have enough cords now, LOL.
Ahhhh..can't win. I have all my needles in a expanding checkbook file type thing. Now I know what I have and where it is...whew!

::yes:: Sounds like a great idea to me. But this time we'll have to find someplace that doesn't have a car video game so Ian will join us. ;) He's still very into cars, in fact he snagged one from his grandmother's yesterday and it's hardly been out of his hands since. And right now he's sleeping with it yet again.
We'll just have to make sure anything "car" oriented is portable so he will sit with us! I also hope that we can meet closer to our side of town. It was a little over an hour for me so closer to you would be great since you are close to halfway between me and Julie.

Hi all. Have had a busy few weeks. Sounds like the Chicago meet was really fun. I really wish we could have went but we are going to Chicago in Feb for a gym meet. Tom is actually there right now with work to check on their new radio system. He will be home tomorrow.
Is anyone besides Mark and Mary going to try to get on the members cruise? I really can't decide if we want to go. We would love to go on another cruise with everyone else but I really don't want to go in June. We probably should not go on either one and try to save some more money but what fun would that be???? I guess I really need to decide soon.
Is anyone else trying to get the I Pod Shuffles for $29. I have been up at 4AM the last four days to try to get a few with no luck. Yesterday I had them in my cart and by the time I checked out they were all gone. I did get my neice the 2GB Nano for $99. She is going to be sooooo excited. I am going to try tomorrow again to get the shuffle. I now need 10 of them. Quite a few people at gym want them so I told them I would try.

We are in. I just have a question. Do we know the rates for 1 night vs. 2 nights?
Do you know if we qualify for the Kroger Promotion (is that a grocery store??) rate? We have stayed at the Great Wolf in Wisconsin Dells in a family suite and it was very nice so it's probably what we are going to want to do again. Looking at it for the 2 nights, it looks like it could be between $328-$358 for Friday & Saturday night? Am I looking at that right?
Is anyone besides Mark and Mary going to try to get on the members cruise? I really can't decide if we want to go. We would love to go on another cruise with everyone else but I really don't want to go in June. We probably should not go on either one and try to save some more money but what fun would that be???? I guess I really need to decide soon.
We are not interested. Had it not been for this group, SSMC06 would have been a bust.
So, we'll spend our $$'s another way -- which won't be hard to do as we already have all of our plans made for next year. :cool1: And, we'll probably spend total what it would cost for the 4 of us to sail on the next member cruise and have several vacations out of it! :thumbsup2

Hi Ann Marie! Hope all is well. Tom and I were thinking about trying to get on the next member cruise but after reading the posts how DVC is calling all of the people that they said were not picked for the special call in, it seems to me that they don't want any of the people from SSMC06 on the next cruise. There is a thread where several people said they received calls Monday and Tuesday from DVC offering them spots on the ship even though they received the rejection email. That just doesn't make me feel very welcome! It would be one thing if DVC only made calls on Saturday as they originally said but now that we are aware that they not only called people on Saturday, Monday and at least through Tuesday it doesn't leave us with a good feeling.

sorry tried to make those pictures smaller but can't :-(
And I do gotta say that it's kinda funny watching you all post about indoor water parks in the winter when we're all DVC members...your forgetting the best water park/vacation meet of all DISNEY! Now I'm up for a trip there 'cause I got an annual pass I better use a little. I'm looking into maybe Early February or late March but want to avoid spring break. I keep checking for DINGS and Spirit specials. Wish me luck.
Ilene - I love the knitting. I don't have the patience to do something like that. Tom and I were talking about a trip back to the "Mouse" before May. If the air fare was at a decent price and space was available February would be a great time to go as long as it isn't during a school vacation week.
Cheryl - glad you are on the mend from the surgery but sorry to hear of your other problems! Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon!
I'm way behind on posts and don't have time to get caught up so I'll just say hope everyone else is doing well and sorry if I missed any celebrations. Work is worse than ever with long hours and more frustration! I told Tom I really think I could make more money (per hour) working at WDW waving to guests as they leave the Magic Kingdom. I'm even practicing my smile and saying, "Have a magical day! See you real soon!"

Greetings from the Polynesian! It has been a very long but very fun day.
Up at 4 am - picked up by my in-laws at 4:45. Got to the airport and check-in was painless. Smooth flight and we are back in Orlando. Here is where the fun starts. We booked through Nationals Emerald Aisle. The person there tells us to pick any car in the aisle and Mark starts beaming as there is a VW bug convertible - so that is what we are driving!
Got to the Poly and since we had used advanced check-in (they are testing a new program where you can call and check in up to 10 days in advance) everything was ready for us except the room. They took our cell phone number and said they would call. Our plan was lunch at Kona Cafe anyway so that is what we did. After that picked up our tickets for the luau and then did a little shopping. Got our call that the room was ready so we went back to the car, got the luggage and to the room.
The rooms here are beautiful. They did a great job when they redid them. We have a 3rd floor room overlooking the quiet pool.
Rested in the room for a while and then headed over to the Magic Kingdom to activate our AP's. Did Pirates, a little shopping and then back to the room. We did the Spirit of Aloha show tonight (aka the luau). Good food and lots of fun. The storyline is a bit cheesy but the dancing is great.
Just going to check a few threads and then off to dreamland I go!

Just my 2 cents. I don't think they are calling people this week because they want even more new cruisers. I think they are calling people they at first rejected because many who were picked said no thanks when they were called. Hopefully they will see this as a flaw in their lottery and won't have one again. I think they went into the Saturday 12/2 booking day with a set number of cabins in mind (who knows what that number is) and they are calling trying to fill that number.

I am. I thought I read there was a limit of 5 at a time. Be sure to sign up for one click check out to make it easier and faster. Good luck.
And my sister wants to try and call for the cruise on Saturday morning,

I have to agree that I'm VERY down on DVC right now!!! Not only did they decide to do this lottery thing, but then to continue to call people that didn't make the "lottery" is just ridiculous!!! Then, I've heard reports of previous cruisers finding new cruisers to book them on SSMC07. It's just a huge disappointment from DVC!!!

I'm actually just trying to find my guide's email address so I can express to her these same sentiments. When she and I spoke a few weeks ago, that was the exact example I had given her previous cruiser finding a loop hole. :sad2: Not that they are taking a cabin from me, because we aren't interested. I don't like to reward companies with poor customer service procedures with my business.

I have to agree with every thing you said! I'm just glad that we didn't want to go again.I realy think this cruise is not going so well for them! The points and Dollar price is way to high for this cruise.Plus ,I think most us felt slapped in the face.I'm not going to book a cruise from someone who didn't care about me!They can keep it!
I'm just waiting for our dates to come out so we can book with our friends! When you can book a 7 day for the same dollar amount....That's Ridiculous!!!

And obviously since they have gone to their list of people that they first rejected, DVC is more interested in having 1st time Members on the cruise than repeaters.
I do feel sorry for the people who want to book this cruise but now have to wait until Saturday while in the meantime, DVC is still trying to fill up the ship.
I also hope that DVC is the one holding the ball in that the cruise doesn't sell out. Wouldn't that almost serve them right?
I am also looking forwards to the 2008 cruise dates coming out so we can book with our friends.

We are not trying for the cruise. We're disappointed over the lottery system for newbies (hey I am fine with a lottery open for all) and the cruise will be right before Matt's finals and hopefully his graduation!
We did rebook on the ship for a 7 day and plan to move the date to 2008 once the later dates are announced.
We purchased 2 of the Ipod shuffles a while ago and are still trying to find out if Matt's nephews are allowed to have them (why won't family call us back?).

To the teller down at the bank
You're just another checking account
To the plumber that came today
You're just another house
At the airport ticket counter
You're just another fare
At the beauty shop at the mall
Well you're just another head of hair
Well that's alright, that's ok
If you don't feel important, honey
All I've got to say is
(Chorus)
To the world
You may be just another girl
But to me
Baby, you are the world
To the waiter at the restaurant
You're just another tip
To the guy at the ice cream shop
You're just another dip
When you can't get reservations
'Cause you don't have the clout
Or you didn't get an invitation
'Cause somebody left you out
That's alright, that's ok
When you don't feel important honey
All I've got to say is
(Chorus)
You think you're one of millions but you're one in a million to me
When you wonder if you matter, baby look into my eyes
And tell me, can't you see you're everything to me
That's alright, that's ok
When you don't feel important honey
All I've gotta say is
(Chorus)
So Gary when exactly did you lose your mind???

Did I miss anyone?
Can I make a suggestion??? Instead of ALL of us dragging drinks & snacks, can we work on coordinating some of it so that maybe a couple people bring drinks and a couple people bring snacks? We were talking this past weekend that it was kind of silly for all of us to bring everything when maybe we could coordinate a little bit and not have to bring everything then once we're there, we'll still have everything that we could possible want.

We will be there..... Trying to catch up on the posts and find out about the Kroger discount. I actually have a Kroger card that did not get stolen in the robbery (fell out of the box) We do not have a Kroger near us......
Excellent that your joining us. You know we would have never let you live it down if you didn't since it's practically in your back yard.
What kind of store is this Kroger?? If someone would go to the trouble of trying to steel your card, it must be some great place.
Erin, I don't even have one, but a little bird told me that I would be getting an application soon. :thumbsup2

Kroger is a grocery store chain. They are in IN, but not in the southern part where we live. DD has one near her on the outskirts of Indy though.
Ken and I are not able to commit at this time. If we decide to come, it will be last minute. There are lots of things involved....weather and work are the two biggies. I'll keep my eyes here and let you know something later.

I would be so upset if I received a rejection email and then a few days after their first choice(s) turned them down they called me! It's obvious that DVC must be concerned that they haven't filled all the rooms. I'd love to know how many people were in Groups A, B and C.
Maybe there really was a reason why so many of us were able to get through to MS for SSMC05 and SSMC06, not to mention those of you that made it on the first one too. Perhaps there weren't as many members trying to get on board as DVC (or many of us) thought!
While I'm very disappointed in what DVC has done, I'm really glad that we have met so many WONDERful people from the DIS who helped make SSMC06 so memorable! We are also waiting for the 2008 dates to come out but will probably go on a cruise in 2007 - perhaps Labor Day week. Is anyone else thinking about cruising in 2007 too? It would be fun to cruise with friends again!
I wish we could meet with all of you in February too but that's not a good weekend for us. Annmarie
David kept telling me he wanted to try to get on the next member cruise, but the other day he changed his mind. It was partly because of the information I've relayed to him from these boards - since he doesn't have time to DIS right now - and partly because of information that was shared with him in a conversation he had with someone int the know. (Whew, what a relief for me. I wasn't convinced I wanted to take Ian again before he's ready for the club, as well as a 5mo, but I was letting David make the decision.) Instead we'll probably go back to WDW next fall and hold off on cruising again for a year or two. I'd love to do back-to-back 7-day cruises.

Another sick germ has invaded our house. Walker is home with a fever today. Not good since he's suppose to have surgery on Monday. I'll be calling just about all of our medical doctors today -- as he told me his jaw was sore during the night where the abscess was Sunday, his nose is clogged up and his eyes are hurting. I need to talk to the surgeons office to find out if he can still have surgery and at what point and how do I notify them on Sunday night he's not coming if he's still sick on Monday.
I planned to take the daycare to see Santa today but now it looks like we're going to have to wait until the week before Christmas as there isn't a good day next week to do it. :scared:

Good morning all! Had another long day yesterday but definately a fun one.
Slept in a bit and then headed over to Epcot mid morning. Realized the night before that I forgot to bring my DDE card. So a stop at Epcot guest services, a quick 10 minute wait and I've got a temporary one to use.
We did Nemo which I think is cute then headed over to the Land food court for an early lunch. Soarin was at 110 minutes by this point so we didn't even bother. We walked around the world and just enjoyed browsing in the shops, seeing the exhibit in China (Tomb Warriors) and just generally enjoying the day.
After looping all through World Showcase we did some shopping back in Mouse Gear and then dropped off our goodies in our locker then headed back to the International Gateway.
It was now about 2:30 and the DVC Merry Member Mixer was slated to start at 3:00. Not long after we got there we met up with Webmaster Doc and his wife. Saw a line was starting to form (this is Disney after all - gather more than say 10 people and they start forming a line) so we got in it. Disney had a nice 4 piece choral group come out and entertain us while waiting. Soon it was time to head in. This event has gotten bigger since the first time we went after the 2004 Christmas Cruise.
We got our picture taken with Chip and Dale, got in a very short line to but a very special pin from the event (the line for this was huge later), then met up with a number of other DISers. The DIS had a very large contingent here which was nice and we got to meet a lot of people who we have talked to before on the boards or in chat but had never met before.
We could only stay until 4 as we were scheduled to be at Ft. Wilderness for dinner with Karen (Ohiominnie) and family for dinner at 5. On the way out we ran into Angie who was on the 10 day with us. Her and her DH are sailing on the 12/9 Magic Double Dip. Then we ran into Cheryl and Todd who had just gotten there. Saw Angie's DH Dennis and then we were out the door!
Got to the front of Epcot pretty quick and waiting for a monorail. Didn't have to wait too long but long enough. Back to our room to drop things off and then the plan was catch a boat to the Magic Kingdom then another to Ft. Wilderness. Got to the dock and it looked like we had just missed a boat. So I called Karen and informed her we would be late. After that it was a comedy of errors where we just couldn't catch a break. Went to the monorail for the ride to Magic Kingdom. It came fast but then sat. Pulled into Magic Kingdom and saw the boat was already there - we wouldn't make it. So stayed on to the Contemporary. A boat was coming and the skipper announced his boat was going first to Wilderness Lodge, then to the Campground. But another boat just coming on the other side was doing the campground first, then the lodge. Ok so the other boat pulls in, we get on and both boats sit there. Neither captain told us it was a shift change so we wait for the new captains to get on and we are off. Only problem is our new captain is heading for the lodge! We tell him we are supposed to be going to the campground first (since it was not only us that choose this option but there were also other people on the boat who had already been to the lodge) and it was finally straight! We were about 1/2 hour late! :guilty: Luckily Karen's family being as sweet as they are were fine with it. They had gotten seated and just started eating so it was easy to catch up (since it is a buffet). Got to meet Mike's dad and his step-mom.
Dinner over we headed over to MVMCP. On Wednesday you would have hardly known it was Christmas time. The tree wasn't up an there were very few decorations. Well tonight everthing was ready and the park looked great. First up we saw Mary Poppins, Burt, and 3 cute penquins. Nick loves penquins as do we so we get in line. The woman tells us Burt and Mary are leaving in 5 minutes. We ask if the penquins are staying and she says yes. She must have thought we were nuts because we told her that's who we wanted the photo with!
Photo over we head to adventureland. We ride the flying carpets, splash mountain, big thunder, pirates, and the jungle cruise. Every ride switching off partners with whoever the kids wanted to sit with.
By now it is time for the fireworks and Mike finds us a great spot at the hub. Awesome fireworks though I miss that they don't do the 360 ones like they did for hallowwishes. We now find a spot along the parade route and Mike, Mark and KT go in search of cookies and hot cocoa. When they get back I go to get Mark and I t-shirts and the pin from the event and then we all settle in to wait for the 2nd parade.
After a very fun parade we call it a night and head back to our room. We took the ferry to T & T since it holds so many and then just walked back to our room. The beauty of staying close to the Magic Kingdom. So a late night (didn't get to bed until 1 am) but worth it.
We loved spending the night with Karen, Mike, KT and Nick!

Hi everyone! Just got my room at SSR and hated to leave the GV - most of the family is gone and it was hard to say goodbye but we all decided it would be great to get together that way again!
I have to agree with Mary that there was a nice size of DISers/DVCers at the Merry Mixer yesterday. I even saw some that I have not seen in 5 years and we all remembered each other. That was fun!
I did run into Frank who was the DVC rep who sold me the points I purchased onboard the last Member Cruise and he asked me if I would sailing with them again next year. I did tell him that I was not invited and he had a strange look on his face. Then asked if I had a good time and I told him I had a great time with my friends and left it at that.
Mary mentioned the lines and I must say there was quite a bit of merchandise and the fact that DVC or Disney added a tent over the space this year in case of rain was nice so we could all get together no matter what the weather. Biggest crowd I've seen at a mixer yet!
I'm off to MK for a bit and then over to MGM and over to Jelly Rolls to catch Karen's (TLinden16) party. It's on the chilly side today but I'll survive - LOL!

Cindy I hope Walker is feeling better this afternoon. Have you heard from the doctor about his surgery and if his fever will prevent that?
I finally got Walker to sleep. I haven't rocked him in a long-long time so I know he's really feeling bad. He's complaining that his eyes hurt -- sinus maybe? I don't have sinus problems so I don't know. I finally got him to take some tylenol, he kept telling me that he didn't need it, but the fever just spiked to 103.8 so I told him he really needed to take it.
I did call the surgeon this AM, they said see how he is on Sunday and they gave me their oncall number to call if I need to speak with the doctor to make a decision.
Cameron should be home shortly. If Gary can't head home to take Walker to the pediatrician, I'm going to haul him there with the daycare. Cameron's responsible enough to sit in the van with the kids so I don't have to expose everyone to the sick germs in the office. Being his fever is SO high, I'm thinking it's more infection than virus, as it seems that virus' have a low-grade fever. That's my Mom opinion, no medical school for me. ;)
I need to quarantine our house. Between Cameron with bronchitis last week, me with strep this week and now Walker, we sure have the sick germs around here.

Funny as all the garland was up for MVMCP on Monday night and the tree was by the castle which made for nice video of the fireworks.
It sounds like you're trip is going well. I'm glad to hear about the mixer, I'm going to try to make next week's and if not then the following week's as I haven't been to those yet. Good luck to all of those trying to book tomorrow. We have made other plans for 2007. March (Spring Break) a girls trip for myself and DD to WDW. DH has to work until tape out this summer. August we have decided on Maui. December 2007 we will be going on the DCL Christmas Cruise. YEAH!!!!
This Christmas we will be at BCV. We leave in less than 2 weeks. I have a question for all those parents out there. DD still believes in the bearded one and DH and I thought maybe we should ship her stocking stuffers ahead to BCV. Has anyone shipped to one of the DVC resorts? Was there any problems? I really would like her to believe for a little bit longer and I don't think packing stocking stuffers in our suitcases is going to keep that magic going. If I am shipping a box already should I ship toiletries and/or breakfast items? I would not normally ship anything but the christmas presents might take presidence this year.
Mark and Mary I am glad you are having a good time. We will miss the Merry Mixer because we fly in and out on a Thursday. Oh, well maybe another time. I hope the weather warms up in the next couple of weeks. We were hoping to go to a water park.

Good morning everyone! Happy Saturday!
Yesterday was another fun day here at WDW. We slept in as we had been up so late the night before. It is cold down here right now, but still much warmer than home! :) We treated ourselves to a room service breakfast and then headed out about 11 to go to Animal Kingdom. Didn't have to wait too long for the bus and we were on our way. Getting off the bus who do we run into but WebmasterRegina.
Our one and only goal at Animal Kingdom was to see the new Nemo show and it was well worth it. We had heard that the line fills up fast but we were lucky and got there early enough that we were near the front of the doors. When we got in and were walking to the far side we saw a center row with two seats right on the end so we grabbed them. Would you believe the couple next to us were from DVC members from the DIS! Talk about a small world. We didn't even have our lanyards on but I do have a small rubber DIS key chain on my purse. As Mark said the show is fantastic and worth the price.
After the show we headed out of the park and over to MGM. Our goal here was to get the AP passholder Ducky Williams litho. Very cute! Mission accomplished. We had also planned to do a late lunch but didn't have reservations. Lesson learned - December is not as quiet as it used to be especially with the dining plan. Tried to go to Brown Derby and they were booked solid for the day. So we ate at the ABC Commissary where we again ran into a DISer who saw my keychain.
Went back to the room for some down time and then headed back to the Epcot area for the Jellyrolls meet. Our longhouse location is great because it is an easy walk to the the T&T and the monorail. Our original plan was to take the ferry to the Magic Kingdom and then the Boardwalk bus. When we got on the ferry the fireworks were going off at Magic Kingdom and we realized by the time we docked the busses would be mobbed with people leaving. So we got off and took the Epcot monorail then walked over to Jellyrolls from there.
This was our first time at Jellyrolls. There is a cover charge there but Karen had made a deal with them that got those who signed up early 2 for 1 admission. We really didn't even stay for a lot of the show as we got there at 7 and the show starts at 8. We came more to see fellow DISers which we did. Karen gave out Jellyrolls meet buttons and cute glow in the dark wrist bands.
Headed out at 8:15 and back to Epcot. That's when we ran into Lisa (TKDLisa) who we had sailed with in December of 2004. Lisa had recently bought DVC and used our names as the referral so we've enjoyed a meal or two on her this trip - it was wonderful to be able to say thank you in person. It is amazing running into so many people we know on this trip. Proves to me how blessed we've been with the friends we've made from this board.
Illuminations starts at 9:30 for the holiday season due to the last performance of the CP. Plus there is an extra holiday section at the end with mega fireworks. Loved it and I'm so glad we got to see Illuminations since we had missed it in October. After we headed over to Mouse Gear and sat outside there to let the crowds thin out. We got a great view of the lights of winter and watched and listened to that for a while.
Then to the monorail where we got a car all to ourselves for the ride back. Cool!
Back in the room by 11 pm and to bed we went. Another great day.
We have a party to go to this afternoon and that is the only thing really planned so we will have to see how the rest of the day pans out.

Good morning all!!! Today's a busy day around our house today. We're leaving in about an hour to go to Sears for family pictures and pictures with Santa. Chris is playing Santa at the portrait studio again this year, so he'll be there today and tomorrow. But, we always set up our pictures about an hour before the studio opens so there's no wait for the girls and "Santa".
Then, Emily has a dress rehearsal for her Christmas program at church at 1pm. That's normally Madison's nap time, so I talked to Emily's music teacher and she told me that it's going to be a couple of hours, so I can drop her off and her music teacher will call me when they are close to done.
Her program is tomorrow night at 5pm and it's sure to be adorable.
So, I'm off to the shower so I can get ready for pictures.

Mary...I'm enjoying your daily trip reports! Glad you're having such a good time! Sounds like I need to get one of those keychains for when I'm there at the end of this month!
Good luck to everyone who's trying to book the cruise today. We have decided not to go this time. We ARE looking forward to cruising with our friends in 2008! :cheer2:
We have 5 houseguests this morning. Our church has a program where you can "adopt" students who are here from out of town attending the local university. Our adoptive "daughter" came last night with 4 of her friends and spent the night. They are all big Disney fans too. We played 2 games of Disney Scene It, and then watched "The Little Mermaid." This morning I'm going to fix brunch for them, and we are going to decorate the tree and the rest of the house. Nothing like getting help!
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone! I went over to Jelly Rolls too last night for Karen's meet and had a great time but made the mistake of sitting in the front row. And for some reason, the table I was sitting at became an easy target for the piano players. Seems they didn't hear much singing coming from us and I wanted to tell them that was because I can't carry a tune! Sat with Doc and his wife. and we chatted about the DVC meeting he went to and a few other concerns we both have.Anyways, I did get into the fun night and stayed a lot longer than I usually do.
Quite a few DISers showed up that I had never met and Mary - you missed Lisa (lb) came over. I heard someone mention "who's the one with the beautiful grandbaby pictures" and my head popped up and I said something like "I think that's me". We chatted for quite a while - felt like I already knew Lisa but that is the way I feel about most of the DISers - they are so excited about their upcoming cruise - sounds like another fun group.
Could you imagine if we pulled our group together with the group Lisa is with - how much fun it would be to take over the ship then???
I told her about the plan of getting together in 2008 and hopefully we could talk some of them into it - but she did say that this time of year is much cheaper - another thing to keep in mind because I would love to do a December cruise with all the decorations - I just love Christmas decorations!
Another fun day behind me and today I will spend some time with my ds and his gf. Not sure what the plan is but I like to just go and be surprised.

Good Morning All!
Cindy - I hope Walker is ok. Murphy's law that he would get sick now. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out .
Sounds like everyone is having a great time in WDW. So glad to hear that!
We had a long night hear last night. Jeff & I left work at 11:30am yesterday to go to his holiday party. After the main party we moved to a different section of the hotel for the "After Party". They had a couple of hospitality suites set up with bars and food and a dj.
I had to sneak away for a short spell to go to a scrapbook crop. I only stayed for an hour and a half and back to the after party I went. We didn't get home till 1:30 this morning. We had alot of fun.

Good morning all. Called for the Member Cruise right at 9 am and got in. Turns out all categories were available so it looks like they saved some of each one for the repeaters. We were even able to book our rooms before and after the cruise. We booked using cash so if we have to cruise for whatever reason we can do so easily.
Has anyone shipped to one of the DVC resorts? Was there any problems? I really would like her to believe for a little bit longer and I don't think packing stocking stuffers in our suitcases is going to keep that magic going. If I am shipping a box already should I ship toiletries and/or breakfast items? I would not normally ship anything but the christmas presents might take presidence this year.We shipped a big (heavy) box to BCV filled with all the stuff we gave out on the cruise and had no problems at all. It was waiting for us when arrived and they gave it to us when we checked in. Julie had something for her wedding sent to us and it was delivered to our room when it arrived. So my suggestion is go ahead and ship the gifts. But this time of year you'll probably want to give some extra time for it to arrive, so ship early. Have a great time and tell Santa I said hi.http://www.smeechy.com/MySmilies/santawave.gif

I saw another post of the holiday decorations on the main cruise board and just kept thinking, I need to take a December cruise, just to see all of those decorations. I would love to take a Christmas cruise for our 10th Anniversary, since it's December 19th, 2008. I guess we'll wait and see, but that may be one of the things that we do in 2008.

Christmas is a great time to cruise. The ship is beautiful at that time of year and we loved our 10 day Christmas cruise. I think for 2008 however we're going to stay with June or whatever special cruise DCL comes up with.

Only 78??
We have a heat wave of 27 today so far. :cold:
Thanks for all the well wishes for Walker. They tested him yesterday for the flu --- it came back negative but the test is not a pleasant experience. The doctor said if it was strep, the antibiotic he's taking for the abscessed tooth would cover it. His fever spiked last night, but he's acting very normal and playing this morning, with just a little congestion. I will still call the surgeon's office tomorrow with an update. Being he's going to have anesthesia (is that spelled right?), I want to make sure it's the right decision to have him knocked out. And, if this turns into a full blown cold, he'll be in trouble as I believe they will discourage him from blowing his nose next week.

After the show we headed out of the park and over to MGM. Our goal here was to get the AP passholder Ducky Williams litho. Very cute! Mission accomplished.
Mary in order to get the litho do you have to have the coupon from the AP magazine or can you just show your AP? I would love to get a litho when we are down there. Where in MGM do you go to get the litho?

Unfortunately October is not a good time for us to cruise. With Nick going into 7th grade next year it's just to hard to take him out of school for that length of time.
We rae just trying to figure out when we want to take Nick back to WDW. We need to figure out which time during the year when he is out of school will work best, and we are not forgetting about July at Cedar Point!!

Good Morning everyone! It's warming up again down here and I'm so happy to post that! Friday sure was cold for me - don't think many of the Floridians were too happy to hear from anyone who came down from up north - they seem to blame us for that weather - LOL.
Went out with my ds and his gf and popped over to Mousefest to say hello to some old friends. Then trekked over to EPCOT to walk the lands and enjoy the looks on ds' gf's face when she was taking it all in. Eventually I left them behind and headed over to MK to see Spectromagic and Wishes - wow it was crowded over there last night. Went out in front of the park when the shuttle was due to take off and was not disappointed - what a beautiful sight that was! Gave me goosebumps!!!
Taking the kids over to the outlets this morning and then have to check the Lost and Found - ds' hat flew off his head on Splash Mtn and it was his favorite Detroit Tiger hat - not sure what kind of condition that could be in - if it's even there! Then there's a meet at OKW at 3 and O'Hana's at 5 with some other DIS friends.
Been a great time so far and only a few days left before I have to head back to reality and the lil' guy.

Good morning everyone! We are in our last day here at WDW and what a beautiful day it is.
Yesterday was a lot of fun. Started the day over at the Magic Kingdom and then went to an offsite party. Got back to the Poly (after a stop at Publix for some sweet tea). Mary we were so happy to get your call. We'll definately see you before we leave. :)
We chilled in the room last night and then headed out to the Poly dock at 8:30 for the shuttle launch and to watch Wishes. AWESOME view of both!
Went to church this morning, then a quick McDonalds breakfast. Came back to the hotel to find our room being cleaned so checked out sunset point (Diana this is where you got married right?) and relax in a hammock on the beach.
Going to meet up with Jeff a little later and then dinner with friends tonight and start packing.
It has been a great vacation!

Mary, Christopher always has such a cute smile. Does he ever get grumpy?
Amy, I love the picture of the girls with "Santa". How cute and what a special memory.
Erin, I am anxious to hear about your Christmas trip to the World. One of these days, that's where we are celebrating Christmas.
Mary, I can't believe yours & Mark's trip is almost over. Gee, it sure goes fast, doesn't it?
I'm waiting for the witching hour to see if Walker has a fever again. Depending on that, we'll call the doctor. He has a miserable night so I'm betting that he will not be having surgery tomorrow. What is up with the best laid plans -- they always seem to take a detour. I'd rather postpone today than get there tomorrow and be sent home. I ran into a friend last night who said any congestion and they won't do the surgery. Although Walker sounds like he has a cold, he doesn't have a lot of symptoms other than being grumpy & demanding --- more than usual. ;)

Unfortunatly not. We still have to be home for the Big Guy... We come home on the 23rd this year. We went the week before Christmas last year too. I just love it down there with all of the decorations. It is truly magical.

Hi fellow SSMC06 DISers - I'm trying to clean out my house and have come across some stuff that I figured that I would offer to you guys first. Several years ago, I was a PartyLite consultant and I still have some new (and almost new) candle holders in several different varieties. I was going to put them on eBay, but figured that some of you might want them first. So, if you might be interested, email me (amy@rodgersfamily.cc) and I'll send you pics of what I have. Or, if there's a lot of interest, I can just post pics here on the thread. I just didn't want to take up a lot of space here.

Karen - we're thinking about coming down for spring training - I think I mentioned that to you - have to get to planning.
What is ESPN weekend - is it a member event? I'm not the sports nut in the family - can you tell?
It was great to see a few familiar faces again tonite before I came back to the room. I stopped by GF after running around to meets today and dinner so Chris (sanddune) - I picked up the item you wanted! It will arrive home safe and sound.
This time of December is a great time to come down to WDW - there's lots of DISers and events going on!
Nite all - need to start planning on what I will do tomorrow.

Oh my goodness. This looks just like the two people I bumped into in the VWL elevator. We were heading out to MGM last night and the elevator stopped at 2 (I think it was two) and these two ppl get on and I'm thinking "wow, they really look familiar" but they are dressed to the 9's and all dolled up. So I took a chance and said "Matt? Julie?" Yup, it was them. Small world, eh?
Needless to say, I'm back. Had a great time. Although 18 straight days with relatives leaves something to be desired. Today I dropped off the last relative at the airport at 6:30 am and then we had until about 4 pm to do whatever we wanted.......AHHHHHHHHHHH.
Must get to bed. I'm dog tired.

Got to see Mary one last time and give her a hug. Also got to spend a couple hours chatting with Jeff today. Thanks for coming over Jeff!
It was great spending time with you, Mark and Mary. The beverages were good too. :thumbsup2 Thanks again!
It's so neat when so many DISers are down at one time. I spent some time after the BWV annual meeting talking to the Zurgs.
Question for everyone: What's up with Cedar Point? Where is the consensus for hotel/cottages/cabins? If I were to do it, we would be interested in the cottages/cabins with preference being the ones made of logs and I would need one for myself, niece and parents. Also, what is the closest/easiest airport to fly direct into from Tampa or Orlando?
We are off to take Walker to the hospital for the surgery. Yesterday, no fever, just a little bit of a cold. :thumbsup2 This morning, he's a little more congested but we trust the doctor and know that he won't do the surgery if there is any concerns. If we end up back here, with Walker's adnoids :rotfl2: , I guess we'll just try this another time.
Walker & I sat most of yesterday in the recliner watching TV. Not that Walker said so, but being he was on my lap for hours it seemed, I'm sure he's a little apprehensive about today. It seemed when I wanted to get up, he didn't want me to, so we have a nice Mommy/Walker day -- which is a rarity now that he's 6 and usually much too old for that kind of snuggling anymore.
Thanks for all the well wishes.
Karen, how cool that you ran into Matt & Julie!
Mark & Mary, safe travels home today (I think). :)
