Okay, it looks like I'm all caught up now. I feel like I've been talking to myself for the last couple hours. :rotfl2: (I think Amy knows what that feels like. ;))

You're welcome!
Now, while I have the floor, (well, lots are probably asleep by now, where I should be) I might as well make my pitch too.
I am starting up button production.
Now, the one and only rule is simple, you submit the required info to Mary and that's the list I'm working from.
Posting on this thread won't guarantee you a button.
Pming me won't get you a button.
Go to the website and follow the instructions there WILL get you a button.
Go to the right part of the website by clicking ===> HERE (http://monorailgreen.info/member2006/meet.htm#photo)
I don't charge anything for the buttons, they are free.
All I ask in return is two things, and I've already asked the first one.
The other is wear it as much as you feel comfortable doing.
It's for your and everyone else's benefit.
We only have 4 days onboard, make the most of 'em.
And that little button will help a lot :)
You want to know why Mary and I do this? Well, this'll explain a lot.
Click to read a bit of a memoir.. (http://monorailgreen.info/thoughts/thoughts.htm)

I'm sorry, Julie.
It just doesn't seem fair, does it. :(
Thanks Cindy! I'm hoping to :tiptoe: through a store soon and find them. Oh fischer price is selling them periodically online and 4 at a time - for your daycare kiddos!
Thanks Mark. I know making all these buttons is a labor of love for you. We still have ours from BOTH the '03 Member Cruise and Member Homecoming. And if it weren't for the fact that I fear losing them, we'd proudly wear them every time we go to WDW. Instead they stay safely at home, with a spot next to them reserved for our SSMC06 buttons. :)

Sorry Julie. When I was at KB Toys on Friday the guy told me he'd have more right when the store opened today. I had to get Emma to school or I would have gone there and beat up some people for an Elmo for you. I'm still looking!!
Aww thanks Diana! You guys are the best - we can all post our mug shots online when we get arrested for attacking the elmo boxes :rotfl:

So sorry y'all weren't able to snag an Elmo. I ended up with the morning free after dropping Ian off at school. If I'd known I could have gone over there (gotten a membership) and picked some up for you.
Thanks Robin! LOL I should have gone at lunch but we thought that by 3 there would still be some left - sillly of us. I'm hoping we find one, if not it's not meant to be!

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day
Two waterproof disposable cameras are better than one! If you are planning any water activities you may have already thought of bringing a disposable waterproof camera. You might want to bring two. This is especially true if you are doing something like parasailing or jet skis. Why two? So you can get two different perspecitives.
For example when I went parasailing I took one up with me and gave one to someone on the boat with me. They took pictures of me going up and down and I took pictures while I was up. Together they tell a great story.
Same thing on CC if one parent is in the water with the kids the parent relaxing on land can take pictures as can the parent in the water.
They don't cost that much and the memories you'll have will be priceless.

There is really no official end time. I'm sure people will start drifting away for other things, but the nice thing about Saturday is we really aren't on a time structure. I'm sure we'll be around for a while so head on over after lunch!
Thanks, that's what I'll do then.

Ahhhh, I got off easy on that one! My dad was a store manager for Mammoth Mart (anyone remember those?) or could have been Caldors by then not sure and he saved one for my son. Don't think DD was around yet but I know she got a cabbage patch too but it may have been "after" the craze. Every year now we try to figure out what the toy in short supply for Xmas will be, last year I think was the Xbox that my son profitted from. I guess this year Elmo has it. Too bad they make us all go through this. DD and I decided it is as much the hunt as the want for the item.

People drop off pillowcases and mats along with pens at guest services. I've heard the best thing to do is put it in a ziplock back with your name and room number on it. You then pick it up at the same place later in the cruise.

I hope Nick feels better quickly. I dread Ian getting sick since he's still not able to convey what's wrong. Last year he got sick our last day at WDW, I hope that doesn't happen this year since we're getting on the cruise from there.
Madison has gotten sick on both cruises that she's been on. Karen can attest to that, because we called her cabin with Madison's hacking cough.
Both times, it's been pretty minor and they've been fine.
Good luck Ilene!

Ilene, Sharpie Markers are better for a pillowcase, that might be the same case with the photo mats. :rainbow:
They come in a rainbow of colors which makes items look really neat with the variety.

Oh my gosh! What a group of prolific posters! I get up this morning and have many pages to catch up on. Congrats to all those with posting milestones. I can't imagine 1800 posts! And those of you going out of your way to provide extras for the group! Wow! What a great group of giving and thoughtful people!
Robin, thanks, that was the thread on the photo mats. I am doing that since I don't have small children with me. Its a great alternative to the pillowcases for the kids. According to the other thread, you can bring your own markers in many colors, or they will sign in black if you don't bring your own.
I did not read question 1 all the way through yesterday. We are going to SSR right after the cruise for 4 days. We have tickets to MNSSHP for Thursday night, then we have reservations for the Backstage Magic Tour on Friday, and of course, Chef Mickey's CB is my mom's favorite, so we will have breakfast with Mickey and friends on Sunday morning before our flight.
I started my Disney pile last night. I am making sure my Disney shirts are clean, putting together my pins to trade and cleared the memory card on my digital camera. We were in Alaska in July so I had to make sure I had moved everything to my computer before I cleared the card!

Both times, it's been pretty minor and they've been fine.I wouldn't mind so much if it's something minor. It's the http://www.smeechy.com/MySmilies/puke.gif all over me (several times) and into the suitcase just as I'm about to close it that I don't want to see again. Poor little guy started puking the day before we came home - totally blew our last hurrah plans - and continued until just before we left. We called the front desk to ask about later checkout but they said they couldn't accommodate and if Mousekeeping came by we'd need to vacate. So we locked the door and avoided any knocks until we were all cleaned up and ready to go. (The suitcase part happened about 10:30am with checkout at 11. :()

I posted this on another thread, so I'll post it here, since there's been discussion about the signatures. Guest services has a supply of Sharpies in all kinds of colors, so you don't need to travel with them, unless you have a specification on color.
We didn't bring any on our Valentine's cruise, and GS signed the girls' pink shirts in red Sharpie and they turned out AWESOME!!!

Oh, I know what you mean about that! We had that issue with Emily a few times on our trips to WDW. Then, we realized that she gets car sick. There was more than one occasion that she would get sick right as we were pulling into the MK parking lot. What a nightmare!!! But, thankfully, she's grown out of it.

Emily has a pillowcase from 2003 that has plain black Sharpie signatures and it has faded a tad, but not much at all. And, I wash it weekly, so they really do stay well. Now, I did wash all the pillowcases before they were signed, and when we got home, I tossed them in the hot dryer for a while to heat set it all.

On the Repo Cruise last year, I had bought a pair of Mickey Hands for the Sailaway Party. The CM at the store had made a wonderful suggestion, Have them Signed!
I put them into a Ziploc, wrote my name and cabin # and gave them to guest services. They turned out Great! They sit on my bookcase, fingers intertwined.

I think everyone is getting sick because of the change of season. I just hope everyone is better before our vacations start! It's getting soooo close, I just can't stand it. I have the kids bathing suits out, I still need to get the suitcase in the house so I can start loading it up. I spent most of last night looking for my DDE from last year. I can't find it. My AP expires 10/21 but I don't remember if the DDE card expires the same day or not. I still have the temporary card - do you think that will still work? I'll keep looking.
Back to work - you guys are addicting!
Chris

ChrisWe're in the same boat, can find the temporary card but have no clue what happened to the "real" one. We're hoping the temp works just as well. Both our APs and the DDE for us expire on 10/22 so it's working out perfectly.

Hello from the Wonder! We are at sea heading towards Castaway Cay. Having a great time - 11 nights on the ship is "Wonder"ful! Don't have enough time to read all the posts - I'll have to do that when I get home.
Ducky is doing his presentation today. Susan Eagen did her presentation yesterday.
Hope everyone is doing great, I'll post more when I get back home. The ship docks at PC on Thursday and we're going to WDW until Sunday night.

Julie...I am keeping an eye for you also...Tim(DBF) works at Costco as a manager, and is anxiously awaiting Elmo's arrival. Their distribution center has 2250 of them, but they have not set a shipping date...I'm hoping before the cruise...I will try to get one for you if it happens!
Aww thanks Tina! We love Costco here - it's so awesome!

I have to also agree about getting passports. Chris got his several years ago when traveling for work back & forth to Toronto. Then, when I started visiting him, we decided that it would be easier to have a passport. And finally, we got the girls their passports as we needed them. And, since they all expire at different times, we've spread out the renewal costs.

Cruises fall under that category. The new rule, which goes into effect soon, covers them too. I think DCL's going to start requring them toward the end of the year.
We don't absolutely need them for this cruise, but future cruises they will be a requirement.

It's funny that you said this because I was at the PO this morning and there's this big sign out front saying Saturday is Passport Day. They don't usually do Passports at our post office and I don't know I'd risk it there because they are a terrible PO! We have passports - but I think we only need them for international travel ;)
Now I'm confused. I was going to correct Cindy about only needing it for international travel, but I went out to the Travel Dept. web site and found this:
New Requirements for Travelers
The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. In order to facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Administration is proposing to complete it in phases following a proposed timeline, which will be published in the Federal Register in the near future.
In the proposed implementation plan, which is subject to a period of initial public comment, the Initiative will be rolled out in phases, providing as much advance notice as possible to the affected public to enable them to meet the terms of the new guidelines. The proposed timeline will be as follows:
* January 8, 2007 - Requirement applied to all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.
* January 1, 2008 - Requirement extended to all land border crossings as well as air and sea travel.
This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. This new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States. Most Canadian citizens, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and to a lesser degree, Mexican citizens will be affected by the implementation of this requirement.
I could have sworn I saw a company bulletin that said that a passport was needed on all travel, both domestic and international, but maybe I'm wrong?

Yes, you found the right thing. The thing is a lot of private companies are adopting a more.. stringent requirement and just blanket asking for passports as of '07, just easier to just cut it all at once instead of in steps like that.

I can't wait for our explore the area trip!! Hopefully, I'll get a good DING in the dead of winter and we can come down to check it out. Maybe I'll just stay and wait for Bruce to move down when he's done with his job! :rotfl2:

You are always welcome at our table, Karen. ::yes:: Most likely Cameron will do the mad dash to the lab before dinner is over so there will be a seat. That is if he even decides to join us.
Thank you, Cindy. It's nice to know that I'm appreciated by some people... :snooty:
Besides, it will be just like having Cameron at the table: I'm baseball crazy and I hate to be awake before noon. (Good call on skipping over my name on the wake-up call list...) :chewy:

On the Repo Cruise last year, I had bought a pair of Mickey Hands for the Sailaway Party. The CM at the store had made a wonderful suggestion, Have them Signed!
I put them into a Ziploc, wrote my name and cabin # and gave them to guest services. They turned out Great! They sit on my bookcase, fingers intertwined.
That sounds so cool. I'd love to see a picture!

OK, I'm all caught up again!
Since everyone was talking about being sick, which one of you got me sick? I'm pretty close to death right about now I think. Send flowers!:rotfl2: No seriously, I just hope the girls don't get this, but everyone is sick around here. I'm just hoping it runs it's course and it's outta this house within the next 24 days!!:cool1:
For all you "sickies" out there! Take Oscillococcinium (we call it OC for short around here.it's echinaecia) when you first get symptoms 3 doses one day. Then take it once a week during flu season and you should fare much better. I don't believe in flu shots, I work with preg moms, newborns and 1-5 yo's all day and this regime keeps me pretty healthy as a rule during flu season. Take it for what it's worth, just a suggestion.

Ok, only 200 more posts until 5,000 for me (hope I can do it by 10/21).
Anyway, I'm outta here for the evening. I'm volunteering for a Race for the Cure VIP event here in St. Pete tonight. My sorority alum group emailed yesterday desperately looking for volunteers for tonight, because we support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation, and they were low on volunteers for tonight. I have no idea what I'll be doing, but it should be a fun night out of the house.

Diana Lyn, only Fed Ex was mentioned. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
Stitch#1, we did a cruise on Holland America (Ryndam) from Seward to Vancouver. It was fantastic. American Airlines messed up our pre-cruise stay by moving our departure time from DFW up by 30 minutes within a month before the cruise. We couldn't do the earlier time because of DD's finals in summer college classes so we had to move our trip to Saturday instead of Thursday because that was the only day they had seats available. You have to fly into Anchorage and then take a train or bus down to Seward, a 2 hour drive or a 3 hour train ride. We took the Alaska Railway. Awesome is all I can say! The ship sails on Sunday afternoon. That was a wonderful trip. We had done a land tour in 2000 and wanted to come back, but try it by ship this time. Once you have been, you will definitely want to go back. There is just too much to see.

Just going to repost this once a day till the weekend as the deadline is FAST approaching, feel free to just skip over if you're done :)
I am starting up button production.
The deadline for buttons (and navigator) signup is Sunday October 1st.

I've found these great Cropper Hopper Boxes. It's about 14x9x9" and has accordian-style dividers inside. I'm using it for stickers/embellishments, and I've divided it by Holidays (New Years, Halloween, Christmas, etc), then Seasons, then things like Birthdays, Weddings, Babies, Girl Stuff, School, etc. I have 2 of them, and they are SO awesome. They are $20, but I bought both of them for 40% off, to keep costs down. They will go great on a shelf, and then I know exactly where to look when I'm doing a specific page.

Interesting news tonight. The director and stage manager told me that Nick's hair needs to be dyed blonde. Right now he's what I'd call a dirty blonde, but for the play to work, he needs to be BLONDE. During the play he'll get his hair painted (probably with some spray) purple, and then washed, then green, then washed!! :earseek: So his hair really needs to be blonde so the colors show up! Weird. I'm taking my 9 yr old son in to have his hair colored. Only for the theater, eh?

Ya know, the weird thing is....I live in Ohio and have my whole life....and I cannot remember ONE TIME ever going to Indiana. And I'm |-----| this close! :confused3
It's okay. I think the only time I've gone to Ohio is to go to King's Island twice (one of those times I was in high school) and flying into the Cincy airport which doesn't really count. My best friend from my adult life just moved to Dayton though, so I might have to make a road trip there sometime!
And I've lived in Indiana my entire life....but on the Illinois side.

OMG - that is just too funny. Is he ok with it??
Yeah, I think he is. :) (ok, what's that say about my son???) :earseek:
I think it helps that the main character has really really dark black hair.....and he has to bleach his and then dye it red. So it's not like Nick is the only one doing it (hey, all you're friends are doing it, that makes it right, eh?) :confused3
Here's the picture from the theater's website about this play:

That's little blonde "Nick" peeking his head around on the far left. :)

U TOP! pdfg pixiedust:
Not so strange. DD started dying her hair semi permanent at age 5. Then she started doing the highlighting by 7. Now at age 9 she dyes abd highlights. I have only highlighted my hair once. I didn't like it and decided to go gray gracefully.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day
An investment in Hefty 2.5 gallon zip bags makes packing and travel much easier.
We use these bags for packing all the time. Swimsuits in one, underwear in another, t-shirts, shorts, you get the idea. If you are flying and have your bags searched by TSA you won't have anyone handling your clothes.
Now here's a tip for those with kids. Put a differnt complete outfit in each back. Underwear, socks, bottom, top. When you get to the ship just unpack the bags but don't open them. Each morning you have the clothes for the day ready. If the kids can dress themselves even better. No more mis-matched items or looking for missing pieces.
The bags also work great to take dry shirts with you on excursions or to keep your books, camera, etc. clean and dry while on CC.

Well it will give you a chance to do some head shots of him with blond hair. As long as Nick is ok with it could be fun. When is opening night?
Ok, I'm back from my VIP event and I'm exhausted!! I met some terrific ladies and am inspired to start volunteering more. The Race for the Cure is next weekend, and while I'm not ready to race, I will try to volunteer that day. I used to volunteer a lot more before I had kids, but after the girls came, life got a little busy (can you believe it???).
I just can't believe that at all.
Just wait, once they start school full time it gets worse.
Glad you did a good deed! :thumbsup2

Yup, thanks for reminding me. Must email director and set up time for photo shoot. They require an 8X10 black and white for the theater's lobby.
Opening night is one month from yesterday...October 26th.
My sister cancelled our trip to NC. Turns out she's as busy as we are! :) So at least Nick won't miss those days. :)

When the director and stage manager were talking about it last night (and running their fingers through Nick's hair) he was like "whatever." But of course, Mike and my reaction was pretty laid back too....more of of "sure, not a problem, he's going in Monday for a haircut I'll see if it can be done then" instead of a "WHAT??? You want to do WHAT to my baby's hair??????" :lmao:
Also helps that "Jake" must go from dark black to red (his choice to do that)

Good luck with all that.
You might have to make regular appointments for him every 6 weeks to keep up the new look. :rotfl2: Or at least until it grows out if it's really obvious.
I wish I could go back to not coloring my hair --- but the thought of being gray just doesn't appeal to me. It's bad enough that Gary gets confused for the kids grandfather sometimes as he's very silver now, no need to add Mom into that mix too. :crazy2:

You could always try to do it at home. I haven't ventured there yet for myself but when I walk out of the salon with $125 less than I walked in, I'm really tempted.
I know many people who do it at home without any problems. I'm just afraid that I'd end up with bright green hair knowing my luck.

Bringing it forward now as I don't know if I'll have time tonight.
Just going to repost this once a day till the weekend as the deadline is FAST approaching, feel free to just skip over if you're done :)
I am starting up button production.
The deadline for buttons (and navigator) signup is Sunday October 1st.

Are they still coming UPS? They used to come FedEx and my FedEX guy is H-O-T! The UPS dude isn't quite a looker, but I'll be happy to see him if he's got cruise docs for me!

A few people have received their docs by UPS 3 day for the cruises just prior to our's. Also, one person who is going on the Member cruise and the 3 day cruise after has already received his documents for both cruises by UPS 3 day.
About the hair, definitely let a professional do it! My DD15 wanted to go blonde so we bought a kit at Target that showed us what her hair was supposed to look like before and after. NOT!!!!! Her hair looked nothing like what it was supposed to so I wasted the $15 on the kit and then had to take her to a salon and pay $100 to have someone fix it! It would have been only $85 if I had let the salon do it in the first place. They know what they are doing, plus you don't have to worry about the mess or getting bleach on your clothes, carpet, etc.

HA HA HA. I'm going to let YOU bring that up to him! :) Just today he came up from the basement (his studio/computer room) and told me he was up till 1:30 last night and got up at 7 so he could get out Pediacast (the podcast) Now he's got to turn around and work on the NEXT Pediacast and Mouse Matters. That and a full time job! :earseek: He loves it though. He has tried to write a few novels and gets bogged down 1/2 way though. He's really enjoying this writing where he can write something shorter and move on to the next topic (that's the ADD in him!) :) :lmao:
He's really excited for tonight. Nick goes to rehearsal and KT goes to youth group so he'll be home alone all evening!!! ;) Of course, he's bummed my trip to NC was cancelled. That'd have been DAYS of uninterrupted time! :)

I could have sworn I saw a company bulletin that said that a passport was needed on all travel, both domestic and international, but maybe I'm wrong?
Sandy - I'm pages behind, but I doubt that would happen for domestic as it would be cost prohibitive for many and with the major airlines already in a slump this would make it worse. International yes, heck I'm shocked they haven't required it before this!

Cindy,

Mission Monday
Today was, well, interesting.
I helped supervise Gabriel's first popcorn sale at a grocery store. He'd never done it before, and, for that matter, neither had I. Nikolas has been in scouts for years, and he usually sells over $1000 worth of popcorn. He's never done a show and sell, though. He packs it up in the wagon and walks around the neighborhood with The Hubster.
You know what a show and sell is, right? Every time that you go to a store, and you see all these kids standing outside asking you to buy product - those are show and sells.
Gabe was so excited. He put on his uniform early, and bounced around the van until we arrived. He grabbed a box of popcorn, and spoke out to each person as they passed, "Do you want to buy some popcorn?" He wasn't ugly about it, he was perfectly polite. And you know what? I never realized exactly how rude people can be to little kids. And how invisible little kids are to adults. I'm guilty of that myself. I mean, really, when you go to the store, do you really want to be hit up to support a band/buy some cookies/big candy bars/popcorn?
I got down onto his level a few times, just to see the world and the action as he was seeing it, and it blew me away. Grown ups are TALL, people. And when you are six, and you are built up and excited to sell popcorn, and you oh so happily ask someone if they want to buy, and you have to tilt your head way up oh-so-high just to meet their eyes, it's kind of hurtful when that grown up brushes by you without a glance, much less even meet your eyes. There were some really nice people who gave donations - one guy gave $10, which floored me. That's a lot of money to just donate. I found myself growing angry with a few people. How hard is it, really, to take time out of your day just to say hi? To answer a question with kindness, and grace, and poise? Who are you, really, to brush by another human being without a response, especially to a nicely worded, pleasant request? Do you lose a bit of yourself by being kind to another?
Which leads me to a(nother) question for you, and then your Mission for Monday.
Are you the type of person who greets the checker, has a conversation, and thanks them? What about the person who makes your coffee? Or the order taker at the fast food drivethru? The clerk at the dry cleaners? The bookseller?
I'm kind of a mixed bag. I'll chat up anyone, anywhere. I probably give away more personal information than is prudent, sometimes, in my quest to have some adult interaction. I have personal relationships with the baristas at Starbucks, and was saddened when a few of them left. (They went to AFRICA. Geesh, way to get away from me!) At the same point in time, I can be a bit of a cold fish. I'm often wrapped up in my own mind, running through plot lines in my book that I STILL haven't gotten back to, or thinking about what I'm going to write here or over at larger families, or trying desperately to think of where my ring could be. (Day 11 of ring watch - that's what I get for losing weight - it was loose on my finger and it used to fall off all the time - that's how it got lost, I'm certain. Now, if it could just get FOUND.)
So, your Mission for today is to be pleasant to everyone. As in, every single person you come into contact with deserves a smile, a "Hi there, how are you?", a head nod of greeting. If, by some chance, you shake their hand, you MUST give eye contact. (Oh, that's a HUGE one with me. I can't stand to shake someone's hand at church and they are busy scoping out the rest of the pew for the next conquest.)
Can you do it? Can you be nice to all? All day long? It'll be tough for me, since my kids and The Hubster are OFF SCHOOL AND WORK MONDAY. I guess the true test for me will be if I can be nice to them all day.
You don't have to buy the popcorn, for Pete's sake. Just try to remember what it's like to be the person on the other side. If it was you, how would you want to be treated?
Oh, and who is the most pleasant person you know? Would anyone name you? I KNOW it wouldn't be me.
****Edited to add: I don't know if I can do this today. It's only 7:45 and one of my little girls wet the bed. When I set her on the potty to empty out the rest of her, while I wet a cloth to wash her, she promptly peed all over the bathroom floor. That, combined with the gastric upset of my youngest, should make for fuuuuuuun today. But, I'm going to SMILE. Even if it kills me.***
