HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL I HAVE MISSED RECENTLY

Happy Birthday to WALKER today - I can't believe he's 6 (such a cutie)

Amy - sounds like the cruise was amazing and thanks for all the legwork you did. I need to make sure to request Ducky, his work is so wonderful and I really want a sketch for our home.

Not much exciting news here, just that yesterday it was 80 something and today 30 something with a possibility of freezing rain tomorrow. This normally would not phase me (I am from the midwest) but it's double coupon weekend at the grocery store and I so don't need to deal with 500 people buying bread and milk cause they might have to stay home tomorrow and Sunday.

For all you Nascar fans - Sunday is the big day... JR is going to lead em to the finish line!

Congrats Roxann & Amy on post & reply 5000!!!

Well as some of you might have noticed I'm posting in the middle of the day on a work day. Well no work for me today. Nick seems to have that stomach bug that everyone has been talking about  . It was a rough messy night last night. Now that I have sick laundry done and cleaned the carpet (yes we had that issue too) I can finally take a moment to check the boards :surfweb: .

As Diana posted earlier we are having some nutso weather today. So far it started out ok this morning then we got a small rain/thunder storm. Then the power went out (not sure if Diana's did too) now it's sunny again but the winds are wicked and I'm just waiting to hear a tree snap!

Cindy - Big wishs for Walker & Cameron on the pinewood derby. Nick came in 9th in the pack this year for his pinewood. Every year he has been in the top ten of the pack (unfortunately never first).
Glad to hear Cameron wants to get his Arrow of Light. I hope your Pack does a cool ceremony like ours does. I'll have to post a couple of pictures from Nicks ceremony. On March 30th we will be having the Crossover Ceremony where he crosses to Boy Scouts!

Oh Stacy - I'm so sorry that you're going through this! I sure hope that Nick is better soon. Nothing is worse that having your kids sick.

Some pictures from the Arrow of Light Ceremony. They dim the lights and have a mock campfire. The boys get "branded" with the Arrow on their forehead and receive an Arrow of Light.

Thanks Amy!

Well luckily once he did get to sleep he did sleep pretty good. So far he has been an the BRATdiet and keeping everything down. I had to give him some meds for a low grade fever he was running but he seems to be doing much better then last night just looks like he has been thru the ringer.

Well, maybe you'll be lucky like us, and the stomach thing only lasts about 24 hours. We're still dealing with colds around here, but the stomach bug was gone from each of us within a day.

Stacy, sorry to hear Nick is under the weather.

I'm not sure what our pack does for the Arrow of Light Ceremony. Ours is done during Blue & Gold which is the first Sunday in March -- not all that far off now. One would think I might know, but I really don't have a clue. This has been the hardest year for me as a leader --- I'm very frustrated with the boys and their attitudes. So, I have been keeping my distance as much as possible. I am very happy that we are done with our den meetings and I no longer have the responsbility of baby-sitting 13 boys. I tell you, running my daycare is a much easier job.

Happy Saturday! :surfweb:

Walker won a medal & ribbon last night for speed. All the kids in the pack won something. This was the first time his car didn't qualify for a trophy for design or speed. But, looking at his reaction to getting the medal, you would never know that it wasn't first place. He came running up to me saying "I got my first medal". :cheer2: :cheer2: I'm so glad he doesn't understand the concept of why he got the medal and was just happy to earn it.

Cameron's race is today. They will be dropping Cameron's car off to run as Cameron decided he'd rather go to Walker's roller skating birthday party. Not a problem, as long as the car is there, it will run. I suspect there are a lot of Dad's looking to outrun "Cameron's" car this year. I will be amazed if Cameron takes first place in speed for the 5th year running. But, it would be nice to have someone else truly earn that position.

Current temp is -5 here this AM. I hope it warms up some as tonight is the night Cameron's camping outside with Boy Scouts. :cold: :cold: :cold: I think Gary's going to join him to see how the program goes. I offered but Cameron begged Gary to go instead. Somehow Cameron knows that my being outside, camping in the middle of winter, would not be a pleasant experience. :o

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Happy Saturday morning to everyone!! We picked up Krispy Kreme donuts on the way home from the concert last night, so the girls are enjoying donuts for breakfast with Chris. Thankfully, the KK place is on the other side of the bay in Tampa. I wouldn't want it too close to me!!! :rotfl2:

More laundry and unpacking for me today!! Will it ever end?!?!?!?!? I hope everyone had fun in chat last night. I'll try to be there Sunday night!!

Good morning everyone!

Cindy - congrats to Walker on his medal! Have fun at the birthday party today!

Amy - KK's are my downfall as well - luckily we don't have one too close.

Chat was quiet last night. I was pretty tired so I only stayed about 1/2 hour.

Have a great day everyone. I'm hoping to do more scrapping this weekend. This time working on SSMC05.

Hi gang, we are going down to Champaign for late lunch but I wanted to share these pics I found on the digital card in our Video camera. One is Raegan our first granddaughter, when she was flower girl in a wedding 3-4 yrs ago, one is Coleen at Chef Mickeys in 2002 and the last two are our son Greg playing football his senior year of college. He is #65. That was 2003 season.
Amazing what you find on cameras that dont get used very often.

Hey there! Happy Saturday! And a long Weekend for some!!! (namely me!)

Sorry I missed chat last night but after the prior night of very little sleep with Nick being sick and spending the better part of the day doing laundry and cleaning up the carpet (where we had a little problem do to Nick being ill) I fell asleep on the couch and Jeff had to wake me up to go to bed.

Steve - I know what you mean about finding forgotten treasures. I pulled out an old 35mm camera that still had film in it. Well I got it developed an their was Christmas pictures of Nicke from about 4 years ago!! He was a little skinny guy and was missing his 2 front teeth!

I see Diana has been at it again!!! What did you do to the smileys?

We did the same thing. I found an old disposable camera, and decided to go ahead and develop it. It had pictures of Emily's 2nd birthday party at my MIL's house. She was so little!!!

Amy - glad to read you had a great time on the cruise. Who should we contact about Ducky on the SSMC06? We got one of his drawings on the member cruise. We enjoyed his presentation.

Well, I'm feeling old. DS turned 20 this month. I can't believe how fast the years have gone by.

Valentine's Day was very nice. Actually, Tom couldn't wait and gave me my gift a few days early. He made me a table! If I can figure out how to attach the picture I'll post it. It has Mickey in it and it really nice. Then on Valentine's Day he gave me two cards and a statue of Mickey holding a rose in his mouth and his hands stretched out. It reads, "I love you this much!" He got that at the Disney Store. I was very surprised by my gifts! I got him a card and the movie The Thing About My Folks written by Paul Reiser and starring Paul and Peter Falk.

It's really cold in MA this weekend but I'm glad it's a long weekend and I don't have to work on Monday. I'm looking forward to a relaxing few days. Annmarie

Well, I don't know who we would contact, but maybe just someone at DVC. Maybe someone can find an email address, and we can all start emailing Member Services to request Ducky for our SSMC06 cruise. He really sounded like he would be interested in our cruise.

We're back from our crazy day. :crazy2:

Walker's party was a huge success -- 23 kids. I now remember why I took Cameron to Disney World instead of a birthday party when he turned 11. It was actually cheaper than having a party. I guess I've forgotten just how expensive they can be. The kids had fun and that's what counts I just can't wait for the day to negotiate with Walker about doing something different for his birthday instead of having a party. But, I know, it will be here soon enough. :worried:

It looks like Christmas around here with Walker tearing all of his presents open. I don't think he's said a word in the 3 hours we've been home. Very generous gifts he received from his friends.

Cameron's Pinewood Derby car came in #8 in speed.....a very big change over the past 4 years. Cameron was actually very pleased that it worked out that way. Gary, OTOH, is starting to work on his (ooops, Walker's) design for next year soon. I know he was bummed that Cameron's car didn't perform very well. But, as Cameron said, he had many years of being 1st place and now it was someone elses turn.

It's a whopping 7 degrees outside and Cameron & Gary are off to camp outside with the Boy Scouts tonight. Actual wind chill is -8 right now, going down to -12. I'm thinking they are going to be sleeping inside of the church tonight as a back up plan. I offered to go with him but fortunately Gary decided to go instead. I know WE all will have a better time that way. I'm hoping they come home tomorrow after having a great time. They have always winter camped -- but in a cabin, never in a tent. I went to Wal-Mart this afternoon (on a Saturday -- Amy!! :scared: ) to buy these hand warmers that that Troop Master said they toss into the bottom of the sleeping bags to help keep warm. I was able to get the last 4 packages (Den Leader Mom I am -- always be prepared ;) ) so I'm thinking they are pretty popular. I hope they work. pixiedust:

Cindy - sounds like you had a very busy day. Here's hoping Gary and Cameron stay warm tonight.

I got 10 scrapbook pages done today. Wow now I know why I do a lot of my scrapbooking digitally. Between printing out the pictures and all the adhesive it is getting expensive. :) I'm having great fun reliving the memories of the Member Cruise. I've done the road trip portion, the bon voyage party, DIS meet, sailaway and day 1. I also did a Key West spread. Hope to do some more tomorrow.

We went to church tonight so at least I can sleep in tomorrow.

Amy- how was the concert?

Wow Mary - That was GREAT that you got that much done! I picked up some DCL scrapbook kits when I was onboard last week. So, I'm hoping that after I get my SSMC05 CJ done, then I can start on my 2 DCL cruise scrapbooks. I'll probably work on this one first since it's fresh in my mind, then SSMC05. I'm hoping to go to an all day crop in early March to work on it.

The concert was great! We had great seats, and a bonus was that he started out the concert on a small platform behind the sound area, so he was right in front of us for the first song. Very cool!

Mary, that is great!! Did you have a chance to use the new corner rounders? I'm curious as to how the scalloped one works -- I already know how the traditional round corners one works - like a charm.

Amy, I think I'm going to an all day scrap in April. It never seems like I can make the entire weekend crops my CM consultant does (there's one this weekend and I couldn't do that to Walker and not have his party). The next one is scheduled for a certain weekend in October when I'm a little busy. ;) But, I think I'm actually going to make the one in April. I should also try to get to some of the Friday night crops -- that would help.

Made dolphin cruise reservations for our Hilton Head trip over Spring break. We went with Discovery Cruises instead of through the DVC resort. DVC wanted $35 per person and I spent $48 for the three of us. Has anyone done a dolphin cruise while staying at HHI? How was it?

I will be going to Micheal's later. Anyone have a scrapbooking organizer they like?

I have the small "Petite Cropper" from Michaels. I like it, but it's small. It fits all my tools in it when I go to crops, but I usually have to bring my DVC tote bag filled with paper and albums. In hindsight, I should have gotten the next size up.

We have been looking at new washers and dryers in todays paper. I said to DH, wouldn't it be nice if our washer really cleaned the clothes? :rotfl2: Home Depot has an LG pair on sale today and tomorrow, if it wasn't so darn cold here, they may be in my future!

I'm back from Michael's. I did buy the Xyron machine -- the 900 model. It's the larger one that works for papers up to 9". They told me they are no longer carrying the smaller models and suspect they are up for a design change. I don't know if that's correct or not, but I know I looked at 2 different Michael's and JoAnne's a couple weeks back and didn't see the smaller ones. That's okay, I'll just have to plan a little in using it to minimize the waste.

We have. :thumbsup2

We've always booked through Disney. Over the years we've become friends with Scott from Low Country Nature Tours so we have an awesome experience as we like to reminise about how things have changed. We no longer do the dolphin tour -- we pay the extra $$'s and do the beach combing. We go out to Dufuskie Island at low tide. On the way out, we see just as many dolphins as we would with the tour but once we get to the island, we get off the boat and walk up and down the island, finding shells and all sorts of treasures. It's more pricy than what you're spending. Is the cruise through Discovery Cruises on a small boat or a large boat? I'm sure you'll have an awesome experience whichever way you decide to go, however, with the smaller boats, you can actually see the dolphins up close. That's not always the case with the larger boats.

Not an entirely fair picture as the dolphin knew there was a boatload of fish, but here's a picture of one from last summer. We were on our way shark fishing with Scott and stopped to pick up some shad for bait (another awesome experience -- the kids loved picking up the little fish that were caught in about 30 seconds in a net!). But, here's an upclose view of what you might see:

Not an entirely fair picture as the dolphin knew there was a boatload of fish, but here's a picture of one from last summer. We were on our way shark fishing with Scott and stopped to pick up some shad for bait (another awesome experience -- the kids loved picking up the little fish that were caught in about 30 seconds in a net!). But, here's an upclose view of what you might see:

http://www.dotphoto.com/SAN1/E9/31/AF/iE931AF3A-5E82-4B7E-8B18-9372422E2338.jpg

I know it is a larger boat than the DVC one that holds six. It looks like a pontoon type (flat bed). I do not know how many it holds. I was looking into renting bikes too. Not through DVC. There are bike rental agencies that will drop off and pick up the bikes for you and we were thinking maybe having them for 3 days. That is $18 per bike plus $1 per day for helmets. We are not avid bike riders, but thought it would be nice to ride to the beach and around the resort a little. A beach combing tour would be nice. Might think about that.

Well, wallpaper border is hung and I will hand paint some Bratz as well. I am off to Michael's to see what I can find.

I can't believe the cruise date is getting so close!!!

I saw that awesome coupon in the Michael's ad, Now I just need to get my butt there to look around. I don't know if I want a bigger xyron or a new alphabet set for my sizzlet....decisions, decisions! :rotfl:

I'm with Diana, I almost don't want to leave the comfort of my warm house to go shopping, heck the only reason I did go out today was to go to BJ's to do some food shopping (gotta have the necessities!)

I probably won't go to Michael's until tomorrow, but I'm going to head to Crafts & Stuff in a few minutes. They are a local craft chain (with 8-10 stores) and they had a coupon for 50% off one item for today and tomorrow too. So, I'm going to see what I can find over there. They are closer to home, so I can run by there a lot faster.

I did buy my scrapbooking organizer. Regularly $80 and I got it for $40 :cool1:

I found a Disney Scrapbooking set for $50 and I will use the 40% off for that item later this week. Has a Mickey 12/12 album, papers and stickers. Very cute! I need to start on my Repo cruise photos and that would be a GREAT album. I figure $30 after the coupon is pretty good. :thumbsup2

Sounds like you got a great deal on the organizer! I've seen the Mickey set and it's adorable! I've got my eye on a K & Company scrapbook, but I won't make it up there tonight because it's just too darn cold.....well, maybe, if I get bundled up real good!

I should be in chat tonight. I have some auctions ending and some more stuff to list, so I'll most likely be in and out.

I need to start on my repo cruise photos also. That is going to be some work with all the pictures I took. I have heard a rumor that Creative Memories is suppose to be coming out with a 12x12 Disney album within the next couple of months. So guess I will hold off and see if that rumor plays out.

I have to do my pages for my mom's birthday and our WDW trip for EE then I will be current (for 2006 that is) :rotfl: I need to get everthing done for 2006 before Gail and I head for WDW the end of March. Because that will be awhole lot more of Disney pages to do. We have reserved a spot to make a Disney floral arrangement at SSR. That should make for a lot of interesting pictures. Who knows what else Gail will think up for us to do.

Well back to the end of the Daytona 500.:car:

We've always rented bikes. It's such an easy ride to the beach, it makes for a nice trip. We've rented only through Disney but I will tell you, one year, the bike I had was jinxed. Not once, but twice, I had major problems with them. There is a bike rental shop right on the way to the beach. I can't recall the name of it but when my bike broke down a couple blocks from there -- they were awesome in helping us out. Not only did the let me use one of their bikes to continue our ride to the beach, but they took care of calling Disney and arranging for a replacement bike. All we had to do was stop on our way back and switch the bikes. Lesson learned -- always carry our cell phone with just in case. ;)

A pontoon boat would not be bad. It's much smaller than some of the larger boats that go out on tours from Shelter Cove. I know they are a lot more economical, but those big boats with probably 100 people on them, if not more, can't possibily get close to any of the dolphins or wildlife along the shore. I'll be interested in hearing how you enjoy it when you get back.

Cameron & Gary came home rather early this morning from the Boy Scout overnight. They survived. :cold: :cold: In fact, Cameron had a great time and told me he's going to LOVE being a Boy Scout. :cool1: I'm excited for him as he dragged his feet so long making his decision and in the end, was talked into giving it a 6 month committment. It doesn't look like that's going to be a problem now. :thumbsup2 They didn't end up sleeping outside all night -- but they did have to spend 1 hour tucked into their sleeping bags as if they were sleeping to make sure they knew how to do it. After that, they spent the night in the church. The Cub Scouts had to put up a tent in the gym to learn how to do it -- not a problem for Cameron as he's been camping enough to know how to set it up.

We went out to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes to celebrate Walker's birthday. A bit late, but Friday night was SO late after the Pinewood Derby race that we didn't get to go to Walker's restaurant pick. So, we made up for it today. They do a booming business there -- the manager told me they expected 800 people today and when we were there at 2, they had already done 600. If you haven't tried it (Mary & Mark ;) ) you really should. It's very different and seems to be growing on my family.

Ooops, looks like it's time for chat. See you there. pixiedust:

I got the name of the Dolphin Cruise from my last passporter email. I trust Jennifer and Dave. The price was right! I will let you know what we think.
We have decided to go with a Bike rental company because we figured their bikes are probably better maintained than some of the DVC bikes we have seen on previous trips. I think their prices are good too! We want to visit the Nature Center in Sea Pines, have you been their? We are spending a day in Savannah and will visit the outlet mall too! We have some friends that live around Fayetteville, NC that might try to come down for a day or two. We LOVE DVC's HHI!

I agree with your thought that the bikes are probably better maintained with a rental company than with Disney. We've had a few that had seen better days. And, that one trip, I was definately jinxed with the bikes they kept giving me. I had problems even with the replacement. Definately let me know who you use and how that goes. I hope it's positive and then I'll book rentals through them for July. :thumbsup2

I will definately be interested in hearing out your dolphin cruise. I think we're pretty comfortable using Scott, but it's always good to know the scoop.

We've never been into the City of Savannah. Tybee Island and Fort Pulaski is about as far as we got. Usually we run out of time or just don't make time to get there. We're always so busy doing nothing at DVC. :teeth:

We also love Hilton Head!!! But, you know, we better stop saying that so much around here or we won't be able to get our own reservations there. ;)

I never really heard of curling until Chris spent almost a year working in Toronto. It's on TV up there all the time. Anyway, it's a very interesting sport, that's for sure.

Well, I have Chris on his way to Home Depot for supplies for home projects. Behr paint at HD has a $5 rebate per gallon ($20 on 5-gallon buckets). We need to paint the exterior of our house, and, I've decided to paint our family room (which is currently dark real-wood paneling) and our dining room (this will be the 3rd try on the dining room color). So, we'll be keeping ourselves busy with painting projects for a while.

Although I haven't been on the Boards, Curt has been in-and-out of here, and he read to me all the wonderful things that everyone said. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

And thank you for all of the anniversary wishes!!! It wasn't the greatest trip we've ever taken, but, hey - it was our anniversary, and we were in Disney World. Couldn't exactly call that a bad time! :flower1:

I have not been brave enough to read back through all of the posts. :scared: If somebody could let me know if anything major happened, I'd appreciate it.

I can't recall anything major coming up on the thread either.

We talked about the circle journal for the last cruise (I'm a beginner scrapbooker -- if we do one again after SSMC06, don't feel like you can't join in because you haven't had a lot of experience -- I know it's intimidating at first but I'm thinking it's going to be easier the more I do).

Yes, we did! It had all kinds of coupons in it. A coupon for a free stock photo from Shutters, an extra $50 onboard credit for any bookings onboard, etc. The interesting thing though, was that it said right on each coupon that it was only valid for the Valentine's 2006 cruise. So, I don't know if they only did it for our cruises, or whether they will do them for special cruises in the future, or what???? It was nice. We took advantage of a few of the coupons.

Good morning everyone! It's nice to hear that it's mild up north. It's a beautiful day here in central FL. Is anyone from our group down here now? If not, that's a shame, because it's in the upper 70s all week. After those 50s two weeks ago, we were all looking for nicer weather here. I'm sure that the tourists didn't think that they were in the Sunshine State during that cold snap. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Have to go to the dentist today, but luckily just for a cleaning. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

No baby yet - dd is back home resting but the dr assured dd and her dh that all is progressing - they did an ultrasound and had her on a monitor for a few hours and told her she could go home and rest - the baby may make an appearance soon but it wasn't to be last night. So much for the excitement around here last night.

Mary - glad to hear your DD is home and resting. Guess the baby just wasn't ready yet. Probably because they don't know what fun you have planned! Otherwise that baby would be making an appearance quicker than you can say DISNEY!

Mary, babies sure do have a way of making their appearance when they are ready. Hopefully it won't be long. 8# is a lot of baby to be carrying, I bet your daughter is ready. pixiedust: pixiedust: The baby will probably come when it's least expected. That's how both of mine were.

Mary, hoping your DD rests as much as she can for that may change after baby arrives.

As for Wile visiting, we have lots of them out in our area, but they give our house a rather wide berth. Could be our dog keeps them away. He is a dainty 165 lbs and doesnt take kindly to dog food interlopers.

I am so jealous.... :guilty: I was on the Jan. 14 7day and we didn't get them... That would have been so nice... Oh well the cruise was still great... :cool1:

Have fun and enjoy the rest of your time there - all looks safe and sound at your house when I drive by everyday - dd can't drive anymore comfortably so I'm making daily trips over there and getting her out and about. I saw that listing. My kids think I have so much stuff. I sent the listing to my dd and told her that Gail and I were going to go in together and purchase it and then when we win the HGTV house we were going to set up all the items there. That way it would be somewhere between where the two of us live. My dd e-mailed me back and said she thought all that stuff was disgusting. Guess there is no count for some people's taste. I sure would like to go through some of those figurines.

Oh Karen - I'm sorry that you haven't had good weather here. That's the bad part about our winter here, you never can tell the weather. December, January and February are just so iffy. It could be 40 degrees all the way up to 80 degrees. But, I wouldn't trade it for the ice & snow that all of you northerners have. Amy - very true! We would most likely be the same way. There are some other good lines out there. I've done Royal Caribbean and would do them again. I've never done Princess but have been on one of thier ships (back in the day when you could visit other ships) and I've heard good things about them. I don't think I would ever do Carnival or a number of other cruise lines. To me they just don't have the class and elegance of DCL. They look like big floating milk cartons on the outside and gaudy on the inside.

I agree, their ambience is top notch, nothing gaudy or flashy, true class and elegance. Not to mention the service and don't even get me started on the food! I just have to share my bargain of the day! I went to Walmart to get some stuff I needed and some stuff I didn't need that just jumped right into the cart. I was loading the girls into the car and this lady stopped me---now freaky people are attracted to me, especially freaky Walmart people, so I usually pay no attention. But she says to me, you know if you go to the carwash that is right down the street, the local bank is giving away stuffed animals for the kids and you get a FREE car wash!!! It's on my way home anyway, so I drove up, the girl gave the girls two stuffed dogs and mommy got her very dirty car washed for free! :cool1: On top of it all, going to the car wash is an ultimate form of entertainment for my girls, who beg to stop when we drive by it. :cool1: What a great day! :woohoo:

Other cruise lines - We like DCL because of the characters, entertainment, kids program, Castaway Cay and the chat boards :lmao:

I LOVED Celebrity!!!! The food and service way surpasses DCL (sorry) :worship: . The entertainment was for the adults and not the kids. They did have a good kids program.

NCL is nice. I would cruise with them again. Smaller ship and the service was good.

Carnival NEVER again! Food sucked!!!!!! Too much of a PARTY atmosphere for me (24/7). I do like to sleep and relax while on vacation.

If we do Alaska it will be on Royal Carribean most likely. They seem like a good mix for families.

Mary, unless everyone else comes here, I don't know enough interested to formally host a party. I tried to get a group once, but no bites. And, I'm not one to force the idea on friends or invite everyone in my address book. I get enough of those type of invites of my own to not want to do it to others.

But I do know my CM consultant considers 2 a group. So, if you are interested, let me know and when she announces it, I'll invite you over.

On the scrapbooks, the local big scrapbook store, Archiver's, has been carrying noticably more and more official Disney scrapbook supplies, including books. They now have a whole section separate just for it. Wouldn't surprise me if CM is picking up on this and carrying some of it too.

About comparing lines, I would say some of it is also a sense of scale.

For Mary and myself, we very infrequently eat out and then the upper end of the scale for us is a place like Ruby Tuesday's. To give you a Disney sense of scale, We have been in V & A exactly once, on our honeymoon. That will be the only time we're ever in there, way over our heads. We love places like Yachtsman's and Le Cellier, I think the one in France would also be out of our league. That all said, I would say DCL is equal or above either of the two Epcot restaurants we love.

As far as the entertainment goes, I'm not much of an adult entertainment kind of guy, sorry. I said this someplace else, Las Vegas type shows simply aren't the thing for me. Not big on the stand up comedy or showgirls. I have real fun with more family oriented things. Saw Lion King on stage and LOVED it, as an example. Missed on B & B unfortunately. On DCL thought Ghost Ship was a great show and was sorry it got so quickly replaced by that lame magic thing. Havn't been on other lines so don't have a quick comparison.

Stacy, there is this old fashioned way of communication -- the phone. Remember back in the olden days, we would pick up the phone, dial out only 7 numbers (in our area, all 10 are required now -- is that the same for everyone -- even in your own area code? :scratchin ) and actually talk instead of letting our fingers do the "talking" for us. The internet has made things so simple sometimes.

Gosh, times have changed.

Sometimes I wonder what gadgets my kids are going to have that haven't even been invented yet. :cool2:

Mark - Curt and I aren't exactly Fancy-Food-Folk ourselves (Say that 10 times fast! :hyper: ), and we ate at the restaurant in France last year. We didn't feel out of our element there. It's a pretty restaurant, and the food was good. The only real complaint that we had is that they cram too many tables too close together - but they do that in most of the restaurants that we've been in at WDW. :crowded:

Food for thought! :rotfl:

Cindy thanks for the dinning reminder. I finally sent you a pm.

I have been so busy helping get the new gym open. We have cleaned, put together the spring floor, taken down walls (that was really fun), and cleaned some more. The gym is now amazing. It is one of the best gyms I have ever been to. The kids all love it and I am so happy for our friends who opened it. I think it will do very good business. They are just waiting for the inspector to give his final approval and they will be in business.

WOW, it's been quiet here today!!! I've been resting and lazy most of the day. Madison took a nap last night on the way home from dinner, so when it was bedtime at 8pm, she wasn't tired. She ended up not going to bed until Midnight. And, who was up with her, ME!!! I ended up not falling asleep until after 1am, and up with Emily at 7am. So, I was exhausted today. Took a little nap while Maddie was napping. So, I'm feeling better, but still a little tired.

Anyone going to be in chat tonight??? I'll try to be there. I don't have much going on tonight. I need to work on a couple CJs, but maybe I'll do that and chat at the same time.

I need to go out shopping tomorrow with my mom and Emily. Somehow, in the past month or so, Emily has grown UP. She's very into dresses lately, and all of her dresses are obscenely short. And, since she's picky about her clothes, we're going to take her to the fabric store to pick out some stuff to make her some new dresses. The good part, I bet that she's finally 38" and can ride Thunder Mountain & Splash Mountain, which she's been too short for lately.

We ate at Chefs de France in France (not the fancy one Bistro) and were surprised at how much we LOVED the food. Matt's not big on froo froo foods and wants Meat/Potato combos. We highly recommend it - and lots of kids were in there chowing down. We did it with the Candelight Package.

Amy,

Has Emily gotten to the stage where she wants her dresses to "twirl". My granddaughter LOVES to wear dresses and the first thing she does is test it by twirling around to see if the dress goes out. My daughter is very much no fu-fu stuff and it is so funny when Sarah always wants to wear a dress. My dh and I just laugh at our daughter. Whenever Sarah wears a dress she always wants to come over our house to show us. Guess that is because we make such a big deal out of how pretty she looks. princess: Sarah is small for her age, she is 5 and still not tall enough for the rides. Her mommy and daddy are anxiously awaiting the day she is tall enough to get to go on the rides.

See you in a month.

Hi Carol - Yes, she does love dresses that twirl. They don't HAVE to twirl, but she loves them when they do!!! She is just going through this phase right now where I have to force her to wear pants when it's colder outside. She's lucky that she lives in FL. Oh, I know that she's going to love them! She was SO disappointed a few months ago when she was just a teeny-tiny bit too small to ride. She actually pouted and started to cry. Poor thing!! But, with this growth spurt, I think that she's really going to be tall enough now.

We are planning on going over to WDW at least on Sunday. It's Founder's weekend at our college that weekend, but most of the events are on Friday and Saturday, so I think that we'll spend the day over there on Sunday. Cheryl - what have you found out about the sites. Which is the best to go with? How many colors can the design be? What are some ballpark costs? I think we need to know these questions before we can move forward.

I really don't care for the designs I put up with the first time around. They were more just to try and get something started. I'm hoping others will chip in with designs as well. So please ignore the ones up on the site.

To answer a question that I know will come up. I tried to put in the initals so they would all be right-side up but the tool I used (which was a circle text wouldn't allow it. I tried to do half and half and it didn't look right. Anyone who wants to tweak with it is welcome to.

We're home from the Winter Carnival at Emily's school. Boy, for winter, it was hot, hot, hot down here!! They ended up running out of soda & water!

Now, I'm off to go shopping with Emily and my mom to look for dresses and fabric for new dresses for Emily.

Mary, I really like the one with the ship. I'm not sure about the font though...or maybe it's the coloring of the fonts? I do really like it though, I just think somethings a little off for me.

I LOVE the front graphic, but (and you knew there was a but) can you make the resort names font in the same burgundy type color as the straps on the life preserver? Or change the coloring on the life preserver? i know I'm being picky, but I think that is absolutely perfect for the front!!

I know, I should probably try to come up with my own idea before I crititize someone else's! :duck:

I see what you are talking about on the life preserver and changed it so the colors of the letters are the same as the strap. Is that what you were thinking of?

I like the ship one for the back! Pretty cool

For the front are we talking the whole front of the shirt or just over the left chest area?

I like the life preserver for the front. To make it simpler what about not listing the resorts.

WDWLVR
02-25-2006, 12:58 PM
Gail - my thought for the front was just in the chest area. We could go with or without the resorts. My thought process was that with the resorts it would look different than the official DVC logo. Another thought would be we could take out the resorts and list the DISboards in a semi-circle under it. I'll do a mock-up of that and you guys can see what you think.

Okay Cheryl is away in Atlanta this weekend, so she'll answer about the sites and costs when she gets back (Monday).

However... since she's making me read the forums to her over the phone, after seeing Mary's logo with the initials, I had this nifty (but potentially lame) idea that I'm pulling from concert t-shirts...

You know how on a concert t-shirt (some front, some back) they list the towns and dates they were there? Well if we're going to list the resorts in some fashion, why not list resort, and opening date for all resorts in the concert t-shirt fashion?

I don't know, I just think that the letters seem so thin, then when you make it small for the shirt, I'm just not that thrilled with it. I'm ok with the one with the DIS in the middle. I just think that we either need to put something bold in the middle, or nothing.

Amy, I didn't think about the shrunken version of the life preserver. Your probably right, it's better without the dates.

I now see that Mary changed the ship lettering too. No more Gang. ;) I like the Wonder in red and DIS in green there.

Mary, is it too much trouble for you to post the lastest versions together. You know, I don't get the bandwith stuff at all, so if it's too big, don't worry about it. I am just having a tough time following where we are and thought maybe a visual might help. Hopefully I'm not the only one.

Anyone else out there with comments? :listen:

Wow lot's of input about the designs - that's good! Mary you have come up with some neat ideas!

I agree the life preserver will have to be kept simple since it will be considerably smaller. I like the www.disboards.com underneath better than just "DIS" in the middle. Please, if we're going to use the web address, don't break it up like it was on the 05 shirts. If the address is used below, would the middle of the preserver be left blank?

Here's another suggestion (cause I'm sure Mary just loves making all the changes for us :teeth: ) What about the design with the watermelon - take the watermelon out and replace it with the ship.

I know I'm going to take some heat for this :duck: but, I would like to see less mention of the DIS on the shirt. I'm not a fan of it being listed on the front and on the back and on the buttons. Once, either front or back is fine but, with it on the front and one on the back, I think it takes away from what it is - a DVC cruise shirt. I know, I know the DIS is where we all first met, but I'm just not fond of it being mentioned in all places, I really think it takes away from the design on the shirts. :duck:

You want choices - I'll give you choices :) Gail for the record the buttons will not say DIS on them. They do have the lime green background but that is all. I do think the shirts need to say DIS somewhere since that is what we are a DIS group. Sure we are all DVCers as well but so will everyone else on the ship. What makes us unique is that we have the DIS in common. Just my 2 cents.

Having said that I think my vote would go to back - A (if we go with mentioning DIS) or D - if we don't want to mention the DIS and front - A

So since the ship seems to be the most popular back so far here are some choices for it:

For the front here are the choices:

Mary, thank you :thanks: It's so much easier for me to see that way.

I like A for the back & D for the front . I know I'm the minority so far with www.disboards.com but if we just abbreviate it as DIS -- then we eliminate people who read it and don't know about all the of great information shared on the DIS. And, personally, the DIS in the middle just doesn't grab me.

34 weeks!!! WOW!!! It's going to be here before we know it now. party:

Darn internal alarm clock. I was up until 2:30 booking Palo and excursions for our May cruise. Even turned off the alarm this morning (which usually turns the radio on at 5 am), but still woke up at 6. I see a nap in my future this afternoon!

Amy is totally right, once you shirt down that image for the front, you are barely going to see the words, and if someone wants to read them, the are going to have to come real close and look (you know where) :scared:

My vote is A and A. BUT--to Gail's input, I don't have a problem with taking out the DIS on the back and maybe changing it to "Home at Sea with DVC and WONDERful friends. So with isn't in there twice and then we aren't really excluding any friends we make that aren't on the DIS. :sunny:

Good Morning Everyone. 34 weeks! It will be here before we know it.

I don't scrap book either but keep thinking it would be a fun thing to do some day! I'm not very creative.

Happy Belated Birthday to everyone that I missed.

Mary - Boy! You've been busy!! I love the designs. Now let me preface this with I am a Libra and have a terrible time making a decision but so far, my votes go to A for the front and D for the back. I liked C with the resort names but then thought this is a member cruise so we really don't need to list the resorts and I like the idea of stating Disboards.com since that is our connection. My only comment about the phrase "Home at Sea with DVC . . . with Wonderful DIS Friends" is the "withs". Would "DVC's Home at Sea . . . with Wonderful DIS Friends" or "Our DVC Home at Sea . . . with Wonderful DIS Friends" flow better? Again, just my 2 cents.

Tom just came in from plowing the driveway and I showed him the designs. He picked D for the back and A or B for the front. His comments were that he wanted something less busy on the front. He liked the ship on the back mentioning the Wonder but thought A was too wordy. Does this make sense?

Annmarie - I was thinking the same thing last night. I think that is why I came up with option D. The home at sea with DVC was something I came up with early on.

I just wanted to throw this out to the group, because yesterday when I started giving Mary feedback on the designs, I felt really, really bad and sent her a pm apologizing up and down for being critical. I felt terrible because what she did was better than anything I could ever come up with. Now I'm thinking maybe others may be hesitant to add their two cents because of the way I felt. I think we all need to be a little thick-skinned about the designs of the t-shirts, because in giving your feedback, no one is trying to hurt the designer, just trying to make it better for the group. If everyone is hesitating to hurt feelings, the best idea may not come forward to the group.

Let the designing continue.....

Thanks for all the feedback both here and in pm. I've come up with one more design for the back that hopefully will address many of the comments.

For right now we'll call this Back - E

http://monorailgreen.info/member2006/dvcwonder.jpg

A little less busy than the others. It still mentions the WONDER and friends, it includes the disboards without hitting you over the head with it. Hopefully you will all like it. I would still like to see front A with the DIS in DIS green as I think it makes it pop a bit, but as always will go with what the group suggests.

 Love it, Mary. And I still vote for A for the front design. The one with DIS.

Ok I am going to chime in here, because yes, Diana you are right. I am one who hadn't said anything because I didn't want to hurt someone's feelings. Since I hadn't come up with anything I didn't feel comfortable critiquing the work that was being done.

I currently like "E" for the back. Would like to hear from the guys as to their feelings on the font. Is it to "fancy"? I liked D for the front until it was mentioned that the print would be small and possibly difficult to read which in turn could cause some to be staring to see what it says. :magnify: "A" would be my next choice for the front. Feel B is too plain and the ones with the resorts listed a bit too busy. I really like the slogan - Home at Sea with DVC.

Gail, John is usually pretty good at designing stuff like this, does he have any suggestions?

This has probably already been asked and I missed it - is Mark still doing buttons? I love the button I have from Homecoming and our special Panama Cruise pin he did for us.

Gail - yes I guess we could call that E. What I'm hoping to accomplish is to get feedback on my design and then I'll just put one up against whatever anyone else comes up with. Again just trying to get the creative juices flowing. I really appreciate all the feedback I've gotten! This is a great process and hopefully we'll come up with shirts that everyone will be happy with!

Carol - yes Mark will definately be doing buttons again. Look at the website. I think they will look much like the 2005 ones. With the life preserver with date and our names and where we own inside. That design seemed to be very popular last time.

Suuuuurrrrre I FINALLY decide to say I like one and THEN you come out with one I like better :crazy2:

I like E too BUT could you make it an oval instead of a rectangle?? Not a complaint just a suggestion.

And THANK YOU for all the effort you are putting into this!

:headache: I still like this one better. I don't know about the latest creation with the DIS in the middle. :duck:

Isn't anyone else out there? Come on, we don't bite (okay, it must be Diana you are all afraid of. Trust me, it won't hurt :lmao: ).

Well, since you asked ;)

I like the one with the DIS boards URL, but the date somehow doesn't look right to me. Purely personal aesthetics, I guess. If there were a way to make it two lines instead of three perhaps?

Having said that and read a little futher, I like the new design 'E' for the back too. I do like D as th e best choice for the front. Would the date work better if we did it as 10/22-26/2006?

Sounds yummy! May have to see if it is on a repeat. I really want to watch the dancing with the stars finale.

So I got 16 scrapbook pages done today. I'm now finished with the Member Cruise and the road trip home. All I have left to do is our short trip in November (2-4 pages max) and then our trip to Disneyland in December. So far the book is 43 12 x 12 pages. Also for the first time almost all of the pages are traditional scrapbook style not my digital style.

Hi everyone! I'm still at WDW. My MS acted up and couldn't drive home. So we are just staying down for another week. Sounds like alot of scrapbooking is going on. :thumbsup2 Let me know if I missed any thing. I'll try to check in again sometime during the week. pixiedust:

Wow Mary, you've had a very creative weekend! I've done absolutely nothing all weekend long, unless you count 2 trips to Walmart. Nada. Zippo. Nothin. Lazy days here for me, I need to get moving..... :yay:

WOW Mary! You got a LOT done!! I'm with you, Diana, I've been pretty lazy this weekend. We did have fun though. We went to our church's winter carnival on Saturday morning and I took Emily shopping for dress fabrics. She had a blast. I can say that you can tell that her favorite color is PINK!

I still need to work on our SSMC05 CJ to get it ready to mail to Mary on Wednesday. And, I need to get another one out for my CKU group. I always seem to work well under pressure, so I'll be working on them for the next 3 days.

And, Emily's preschool class is taking a field trip to Domino's pizza tomorrow. They will learn about the different nutritional food groups (gotta LOVE that pizza fits that perfectly) and then they get to make their own pizzas for their snack. Should be a blast!!!

Hey... Cheryl just wanted me to ask that since she's computerless at her hotel, and can't see the images can any sort of final vote on these be held off until she's back and in action on Tuesday.

BTW I'm for A or D on the back choices (the two with WONDER) , and A or E for the Front.

Todd - these are in no way the final votes. Like I said earlier I'm just trying to fine tune my final design. Any designs that Cheryl has already gotten or any that anyone else wants to submit will be in the final vote. In fact my suggestion is that Cheryl start a couple of polls when she has all the designs in so that an actual vote can take place.

That's a real good idea. That way, it's a majority vote and hopefully no ones feelings will get hurt.

I remember Cheryl posted a couple designs -- were they over on the design board? Maybe I'll go see if I can find them and post a link over to here.

Mary, 16 pages :faint: :faint: :faint: Must be because I wasn't there to distract you! Good for you! pixiedust:

Here's what I think will be my last tweak of this. I've addressed the font on the top and also moved the words a little closer to the ship top and bottom. Steve I did try and make it into an oval but it was just cropped a little too tight for that - it was always cutting something off. Since I have used soft edges I think once it would get on a shirt it would be a smooth transition and not as boxey.
We'll call this one Mary's F.
