Off topic random question.....I have been wondering this for a while now but forget to ask. :)
Those of you who put frozen meat in crock pots....what do you wrap it up with? I use to use saran wrap then foil but the wrap stuck & I had to peel it off the meat. I then used waxed paper....same problem & it is annoying in the morning when I am trying to pop something in the pot & head out for the day. TIA!
freezer paper??
not a crock pot cooker - so just guessing

So sorry to hear about her MS - my doc has that, too, and I can really see the difference in the last 3 years.
MS is a bad thing! My Mom found out she had this when she was 30yo. She finally died of complications from MS (not MS it doesn't kill) when she was 46yo. It was hard on her and Dad for years.
My heart goes out to Holly and your Doc.

yes, I told her - I think I will call, but she didn't have any appts and is on vacation next week.

You lost me at "got a"...
I'd follow the numbers pretty close. Ask the Printer geek at the store which one you need..there is usually a small book hooked to the shelf that will confirm the numbers you need according to the printer type. Just tell him you are doing t-s**** (<---- he he) for the DISers and...(yes he WILL call security)...he should be able to help you.
Well - just came back from Staples...the Printer Geek was extrememly helpful....now I can get to business!

Got a printer question for you techie people.
....and I'm sure the answer is....depends on teh printer....
I've got an HP Photosmart 8450...it requires 3 cartridges....my DH bought 3 cartridges....The first 2 were exactly the same...a #99 for a #99 and a #97 for a #97. The last one currently in my machine says #100. The one DH bought was a #96. The one in the machine says "Gray Photo". The one DH bought says "Black"
guess if we use it for photos and I'll be using it for T shirts, I should run to Staples and get the right one, right?
....i.e. - someone needs to tell me to get my lazy bottom out of the chair.
...and does anyone know what time Staples opens?
I don't know this particular printer but I would say that if you want the best photo print then I would get the photogray. My Canon takes 6 cartridges and 2 are phototype.
Staples should be open early for the office crowd.
no comment about your bottom!

Well, the math lesson turned out bad (the dog even ran and hid) ...DD wanted help but when I started to explain it, she says,
But thats not how we were taught to do it...
Ummm, yeah, so if you were taught to do it, WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME? :furious:
Ok, this is how you need to do it...
NOOO. Thats not right, I don't want to do it THAT way!!!
Ok, well what does your book show you?
I don't know, I didn't bring it home.
WHAT!!?!?
Ok, 2x plus 2 equals 9 times "the quantity" 9 minus x and...
But dad, I don't know what that means...
"the quantity" means whats in the parenthesis...
But she didn't teach us that!
So what, thats the way it is...
But dad,:crazy::furious:
I guess the sad thing is that I failed algebra and ended up taking it a second year. Sad but true.
After that, I needed DIS time...and had work of my own to do...ANYTHING but that! :sad2:
OH MAN! This is SOOOO familiar! DD#2 and DrHug - who is very good at math (but I love him anyway! :teeth: ). DD had a teacher that taught them "his way to do it", the book taught a "different way to do it" and DrHug tried to show her an easy way. OY! Tears, tears, tears. It HAD to be done the teacher's way, but she didn't understand it, there was no way to help her since the book was still different and DrHug had no clue what the teacher was teaching. I, of course, hid out in the kitchen baking or something!! Well, she did pass, but that was her last year of math.

We did this our first cruise. It was pretty cool, but we have not since because we don't want to "waste" any CC time. We love the island so much that we don't want to spend it getting a massage. However, this trip with the 2 days at CC that might be a nice treat. We could occasionally hear people talking as they were walking by, so just be aware that it is not completely quite with just the beach sounds all the time. See I'm kind of iffy on this. I enjoyed it, but would not do it again. :confused3

I am very pleased with the outcome of Dancing with the Stars...
to me, when they announced the winner and what Emmitt said and how Mario and his girl were reacting and what they said spoke VOLUMES. Don't get me wrong Mario is an excellent dancer and those dimples would do me in every time, and I know they were disappointed but Emmitt was so gracious and said nothing but nice things and Mario and his girl...well...she was shrugging her shoulders and well....it just didn't sit right with me.
And wow, Emmitt's wife is gorgeous!!
So true V. Emmitt has always been gracious, even during his football years. (Go Boys!! :cheer2: ) Seems like we are with the majority. I think part of it was that so many made it a "Latino" thing instead of just leaving it how it was. KWIM?

Speaking of tracking orders.... all of the gifts (and MY CAMERA!!!) have still not arrived... orders still processing. I've even called and nagged. I realize that if you have a bunch of internet orders that your credit card will hold things (watching out for fraud) but I've talked with the credit card company and they have approved the charges.... so frustrating. Andy,
I am reading these slowly and i think you are telling me another GA tall tale! I have never seen that show and believed every single word you said. Now I am wary, I mean really, are their any texans or Arizonans on this cruise (except Aaron)... Armadillo.... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

II. GEOGRAPHICAL RANGE AND HABITAT:
The nine-banded armadillo is distributed from Peru and northern Argentina to south-central and southeastern United States. It is also found on the islands of Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Its habitats include temperate forest, tropical rain forest, tropical deciduous forest, tropical scrub forest, tropical savanna and grasslands.
Armadillos like to live close to water. In places where the climate is usually arid, they tend to concentrate near streams and water holes.

VII. MORE ARMADILLO FACTS:
Despite its common name, the nine-banded armadillo can have as few as seven or as many as 11 bands.
Contrary to popular belief, the armadillo does not curl up into ball when threatened.
The armadillo is the state mammal of Texas.

Good Morning Everyone! :wave2:
I am back at work today  but at least I feel a little better since I had the break yesterday. Nathan started running a low grade fever again last night when I went to bed but it was gone again this morning. I think he should be ready to go back to school tomorrow and hopefully the rest of us will not catch it.

I called The Perfect Gift this morning and ordered baskets for the kids. Hopefully they will like them and it will save some space in the suitcases since we won’t have to bring sand toys. I was not sure I was going to order them but since we saved money by downgrading I felt like it might be a splurge worth making. I ended up getting the medium bucket for Nathan and the small one for Allie. I hope she does not feel slighted with the smaller bucket. Shirley seemed concerned that the medium bucket would be too large for Allie to really play with. They will end up sharing the snacks probably anyway.

I did have a cruise nightmare last night. Our inside room was far smaller than I expected and I started feeling claustrophobic. Then we got sick and had to stay quarantined in that little, dark room for the trip and we didn’t even know if it was night or day. I wonder if this is my subconscious trying to tell me I made a mistake by downgrading? :confused3 How dark is the room with all the lights on? Will I need some additional light? I know we will need some night lights when we are sleeping but do you need more during the day? I am glad we saved money but this whole thing is obviously still making me really nervous. I knew what to expect with our previous Cat 9 room and now it is all just a mystery.

Can't help you on the lights 'cause I like it dark! Are you clautrophobic? I hope not!! My youngest is a little bit. I'm sure you'll be fine, if not, just go outside your room to the 'lounge'
I had a nightmare last night, too - forgot it until I read yours.
I was parasailing on waterskis in the ocean and these really HUGE waves were coming right at me - I could send the up/down motion of the water, too - really weird!! Proably all this water I've been drinking this week (cutting back on diet coke!)

I have a lot to do this weekend. I need to get somewhat packed for our T-giving trip and also get a lot more cruise packing done. We need to get our outside Christmas lights put up and get our tree at least started on Sunday evening. We may need to finish it by putting up the ornaments on Monday evening. I also should probably wrap all of the Christmas presents for my family this weekend as well. It promises to be a crazy weekend!
Of course first I need to survive today and tomorrow! ;)

Becka, as long as his fever doesn't get too high, don't worry about how much medicine he takes. Give him a cool bath or a cool washcloth on his forhead. His body is fighting whatever it is. Thses things will help keep him more comfortable. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
::yes::
Yesterday DS's pediatrician said that unless a fever spikes to over 102 they're not typically concerned with a fever. When it gets to about 103 and up is when you have to really try to get the fever down and need to be seen by a doctor because it's probably an illness that requires antibiotics.

we missed all the fun weather. just lots of rain and dreary skies. I was hoping this weekend would not be bad. Dh has to go to mom & dad's house & put up the high xmas lights. hopefully dd & I can get ours up. we decided we are just putting lights on the gutters. we usually have a pretty big display but I don't want the neighbor that is watching the house to have to worry about any of it. I still need to ask the neighbor's daughter if she wants to stay at our house while we are gone. the dogs would really love someone to sleep with.

Dody, I'm sorry you are going through this! My best friend went though lots os testing and they thought she had MS for a while. Turned out it was stress related. I hope they can figure something out soon. Lyme's is not easy to pin point. :grouphug:
I honestly thought all my symptoms were stress related but my doctor sent me to a neurologist and I was told that I have too many symptoms that can't be stress related (reflexes are all screwy and a few other things). It's been 4 years since they started telling me I have MS and I regularly have to get MRIs and bloodwork and so far nothing has shown up but my doctors aren't convinced it isn't MS yet. I've been tested for everything you could possibly think of- MS, Lupus, Lyme, and a whole list of other autoimmune diseases. Everything comes back fine. :confused3 I try not to think too much about it, I don't want to get too consumed with worrying about it until something shows up in the tests.
I'm glad it turned out well for your friend. It amazes me how badly stress can physically manifest itself.

Dody - re Mario - they did seem a tad ungracious in their loss.
My sisted hasn't seen the movie but several of them I had never heard of so I called to ask her and she said that was a dance movie. I can't wait to see POTC2! We went on opening night but I missed several parts due to bathroom breaks....restless DD, etc.
Well I happened into the dollar store here and guess what...they are closing this store so everything was 10-50% off! They officially close on 12/6. I got Cars and other wrapping paper and this really cool thing for the bathroom shower...it is a hanger thing with three different sized baskets for your soaps, etc...I thought it would be great for the cruise. Lots of candles too! I also got samantha a snorkel mask and two blow up floats. I think they were 0.25! I am going to bring them and cancel one of the float rentals.

Thought you'd like this info from University of Missouri Extension
http://muextension.missouri.edu/explore/hesguide/foodnut/gh1504.htm
An excerpt:
The store wrap on purchased meats is not meant for long-term freezer storage. Meat frozen in store wrap will suffer freezer burn in a few weeks. This means that air dries the meat and causes loss of flavor. Rewrap or overwrap purchased meats that will be kept frozen longer than two weeks.

Just check on the sales floor both the #96 and the #100 are for your printer, the basic black option is #96, if you want nicer photos, especially if printing black and white, use the #100. Are your designs fairly solid colours? Go #96. More photographic, go #100.
That is was at work Penny, you will see at Disney aunt Pj on the trip.

It's been raining (hard at times) and the wind has picked up.(I spent almost 7 years in Oklahoma it is hard for me to call this windy)

Ah yes. It wasn't MS they were concerned about so much, although it was a possibility. It was Lupus they were trying to find. Some things are just a mystery. I hope it doesn't affect you too badly. :grouphug:

I am very pleased with the outcome of Dancing with the Stars...
to me, when they announced the winner and what Emmitt said and how Mario and his girl were reacting and what they said spoke VOLUMES. Don't get me wrong Mario is an excellent dancer and those dimples would do me in every time, and I know they were disappointed but Emmitt was so gracious and said nothing but nice things and Mario and his girl...well...she was shrugging her shoulders and well....it just didn't sit right with me.
And wow, Emmitt's wife is gorgeous!!
She looked like she was going to cry last night! :confused3 Get a grip!!! Don't go pouting like that on national TV. It might work with Mario but not with the public. I guess more people saw thru that than I thought would. ;) Then she basically said that she didn't care what the outcome was...Mario was the best dancer to her. :rolleyes1

Becka, we buy the family packs and split them up. Most normal packs are for three people these days and it work better for DM and I to buy a pack for six and brake it up, therefore need to use the freezer bags. Normally we only buy enough for the week - 10 days.

Becka....if there aren't any windows in the room to let light in....it is just as dark in an inside room during the day as it is at night. ;)

Contrary to popular belief, the armadillo does not curl up into ball when threatened.

I was reading over on the CB (I know - how dare I! ;) ) the annual Santa wrap vs. unwrap debate. Santa never wrapped presents for us as a kid but all of the gifts from family were wrapped. So many people say that it would not be any fun to have Santa gifts unwrapped but I think it is more fun. It is so exciting to see all that stuff laid out and I love seeing each year what my kids go for first. Sometimes they surprise me! This year I think Nathan will go for his big Power Ranger Megazord and I think Allie will go for the doll and stroller.
The only time Santa wrapped anything was when Nathan was 2. We went to see Santa and he had some big empty presents wrapped under his tree and Nathan really liked the purple ones so he told Santa he wanted “purple presents”. Santa had a very hard time finding purple paper but he did manage to get two purple presents into Nathan’s stash! ;)

I'm fortunate (I guess, $$wise) that there's not much I can do to my hair that won't look totally weird. How many Asians do you know that have natural looking highlights? I'm pretty much a one-color gal, so doing the home box thing is easy.

Just read this on our local news. Thought you ladies with the bad haircuts might appreciate it.
OLYMPIA - Talk about having a bad hair day.
A local woman's bad experience at an Olympia salon got way out of hand. One thing led to another, and now she could go to jail -- all over a haircut!
"It was bad, I cried when I got home," said Dana Kelly. It started Oct. 8: "I was getting ready to start a new job on Monday."
Kelly went to Audrey's in Olympia. It's a salon she says she's been using - happily - for six years. But this time, Kelly says the cut was bad, the customer service was worse and the manager wasn't interested in her complaints.
"I said, 'you know, I'm not comfortable paying for this,' " says Kelly, "and I took my credit card back from her and I walked out."
But Audrey's reported her to police.
After investigating, Olympia police cited Kelly with theft of services - punishable by a maximum of a year in jail and $5,000 fine.
"Those are kind of scary words," says Kelly.
KOMO 4 News tried to talk with the owner or manager at Audrey's, but both were unavailable.
According to the police report, the manager says she warned Kelly that she would call police.
Olympia's Prosecutor Paul Wohl can't remember ever prosecuting anyone over a haircut. But he says although the amount of money is small -- just $37 -- it's typical of the 3,000 cases they prosecute in a year. And, Wohl adds, business owners deserve action.
"It wouldn't be any different if a grocery store experienced a shoplifter, or any other business experienced a loss by theft," Wohl said.
Wohl also says there's something called a "Compromise of Misdemeanor" law where Kelly could pay restitution and then the charges would be dismissed.
But Kelly's not buying that; she says it's a matter of principle.
"I'm not going to pay it, I didn't do anything wrong," she said.
So Kelly is looking for an attorney and planning for her court date, the day before Thanksgiving.

DD just discovered DS's old My First Leappad. It has a short in it but she loves it. I think maybe Santa should bring her a pink one...maybe with the Disney Princess book. :)

Show: 30 Minute Meals
Episode: Fillin' Groovy
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan
2 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
2 starchy potatoes, skin left on and diced (recommended: Idaho)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 ribs celery with leafy green tops, finely chopped
2 carrots, peeled and diced
1 bay leaf, fresh or dried
Salt and pepper
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup dry white wine, eyeball it
5 cups chicken stock
1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders, chopped
1 small bunch pencil asparagus, trimmed of woody ends and cut into 2-inch pieces
1 cup frozen peas, a couple of handfuls
2 to 3 tablespoons fresh tarragon, 4 to 5 sprigs, chopped
Serve with crusty whole-grain bread - a lot easier than making pastry!
Heat a large, deep skillet or a medium soup pot over medium high heat. Add extra-virgin olive oil and butter. Melt butter into oil then add the potatoes, onions, celery and carrots, adding them to the pot as you chop them. Add bay leaf and season veggies with salt, pepper and poultry seasoning, cook 5 to 6 minutes to soften them a bit. Add flour and cook another minute then whisk in wine and cook off a minute more. Add stock and put a lid on the pan or pot and raise heat to bring to a quick boil. Slide in chicken and cook 5 minutes. Stir in asparagus and cook 3 minutes more. Turn off heat and add the peas and tarragon. Stir to combine and adjust salt and pepper, to your taste. Ladle into bowls and serve with crusty bread for mopping.

OK, if the DIS geeks from this part of the country are off the boards later... it could be the storms. Southeastern PA, NJ, DE and northeast MD (maybe more; that's all I hear on radio here) are under a tornado watch and a flood watch until 6pm. Winds are starting to whip here.
It was like something I've never experienced in my life!!! The skies looked ominous!!

Just check on the sales floor both the #96 and the #100 are for your printer, the basic black option is #96, if you want nicer photos, especially if printing black and white, use the #100. Are your designs fairly solid colours? Go #96. More photographic, go #100.
That is was at work Penny, you will see at Disney aunt Pj on the trip.

santa never wrapped ours (except one year when I special requested it) until we got old enough to be nosy - then santa color coded our gifts with blue paper, red paper, etc.
Our kids santa gifts are not wrapped either.
Santa wrapped mine when I was a kid and I never knew any better. I wish I had known about this other option. Sure would make my life easier.

Had a talk with my boss last week about finances (haven't gotten a raise since I started with the company April 2005. He said he had to talk to his partners and see what they could do...last week he threw numbers at me; one of those, "I'll believe it when I see it" things... :sad2:
He sat me down today and confirmed that a raise was coming my way. I figured 1 buck an hour or so "because of finances, we can only offer..." with more to come later....but no, I got a HUGE increase, (works out to about 17%)...! Wooo HOOO!!! Effective next weeks pay!
That will pay off the last few payments on my Wildlife of Missouri series and the books are now MINE, all 1001 books in the set!! And, And! I can pay off that photographer guy who snapped those pictures, with the ..umm... ooh well...no more problems with him.

We were caught in a flash flood once and it was terrible! I was really scared. I never understood why they always had these flash flood warnings and I tended to ignore them but not after that. It is scary being stuck and having no where to go. The water can rise 5 feet in minutes and then it disappears just as quickly. Thank goodness you are OK!!!!

Santa had a very hard time finding purple paper but he did manage to get two purple presents into Nathan’s stash! ;)
Does your Santa wrap?
Nope, unwrapped.

Just a big hubabaloo about the wedding to take place in Rome on Sat.
But as they were walking into some posh restaurant tonight for dinner, he was carrying Baby Suri. All the photographers got pictures.....and the pictures just look like he's carrying a doll and she has nothing to do with it. I can't explain it. Seems like they were trying to make sure she didn't mess up her outfit or something. I don't know...just looked odd..
