Did anyone get upgraded yet? I just checked and no go for us. I hope we do but I really don't care where I am on the ship. I just want to be on the ship, out of cincinnati, out of ohio, out of work, out of school, out of reach.

Missy,

I may be the only other one who can answer YES to ALL of the above! (well, except Cincinnati)

really cool...Could you?....My ressie was for 4 and in chat that one night I told Jill and her DH she could have our other two. So 4 of us would want to join your tribe in the big kids room......

The private dining room is full but there are tables near the door so I was going to request everyone else be seated there. BTW, I have added them to your resie on the site to keep track. :thumbsup2

I'll catch up later then.

Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving? We had lunch at a Colonial Inn in Petersburg, VA. It was first opened in 1760. I really liked it. Now we are in NC eating good country style food. There goes my WW!
We only had 24 here this year. Small crowd for us. Some of them have gone wine tasting this afternoon but will be back here to play some games and eat leftovers tonight.

Minor mishap....I set my oven on fire! It was shooting flames like a woodstove! I could do nothing but yell for Dennis. What would I do if he were not here?? :confused3 Anyway, he got the turkey pan out, closed the door and waited for the flames to subside (lack of Oxygen he said) then we put baking soda on the turkey drippings that was the culprit so I could go ahead and finish off dinner. Luckily the turkey was in fact done when I started the fire so I had only to brown the marshmallows on the yams.

Every kid needs to visit a farm at chicken time. :teeth:

My uncle had chickens and I remember going there one time and the whole family helped in their demise. Dad and uncle did the chopping, I think my mom and a brother dropped them in the hot water, and the rest of us did the plucking. I must have been 4 or 5.

I also remember the headless chickens knocking over the trashcan they were put in and running around... :rotfl:
I had to pluck chickens once when I was 10. I could not eat chicken for several years. Everytime it was cooked I could smell those awful wet feathers again. EEEEWWWW!!

No, thankfully the stove is fine. The flames were just the juices that I spilled on the element. Scared me though!
Then later my mom put a thermos of coffee in her bag as she was heading out to the hotel (she's funny she does not go ANYWHERE, even to the store for a short trip, without her thermos of coffee) and the little push in thing on the top got pushed in and the whole thing ran out in her bag and all over my floor. :rotfl: :rotfl2: Poor thing. She had to wipe everything off that was in her bag, plus she was embarrassed and of course her daughter was :rotfl: :rotfl: which didn't help.

Sarah, Amanda, and their cousin put a walkie-talkie on a stuffed monkey. Now Dina thinks the monkey really can talk. She really is cute with it though and very excited. But what about when it is not fun for the big kids anymore? What do I tell her?? :confused3

I must have gullable kids. When Sarah was little, my sister convinced her that she could change the channels on the TV with her toes. If it "stopped" working, I would have to "replace the batteries"... She believed this for a good few months til she just forgot about it.

This hints at using children as science experiments, :sad2: . Bad mommy!

Pj

I will share my own subject days, in my brothers at home lab, on the cruise.

Trust me PJ! It's OK. LOL! Afterall, isn't belief 99% of their enjoyment of so many things right now? For example, Santa isn't at the mall very often during the day. The kids wanted to take their letters to him but they are sick. They put them under the Christmas tree with pictures they drew and when they got up the letters were gone. :cheer2: Did you know that the elves go around collecting these for Santa?

I keep thinking how we probably won't end up on the Repo cruise so I have to think of an alternative. We can't go next December though because Sarah would miss BOTH parades. I don't think her teacher likes her or me THAT much! :teeth:

This December one is killing me. Not a really good time for me to be off, and I am paying for it now, and will probably pay when I return. I have not had a vacation since July though . . .

Sophia will miss her concert, but, she is not worried.

Cape My is quaint, but expensive. Lots if Victorian stuff. Only 5 minutes from the Wildwood boardwalk. AC has nothing compared to that! I bet there are as many rides there as in WDW. Maybe even more. Of course here are also the beaches, nature type things...

I hope you can get the levy passed. I'm not sure how that works. Here they have a budget each year that has to get passed. Most of the time it does even though we have a high senior population. If it doesn't, it goes to the county board and they trim a bit here and there, but it doesn't have to go back up for vote.

Ohio is ridiculous.

You should be able to vote no on the things that affect you. Seniors vote for fire and police, then they vote no on schools because it does not affect them. They should let the kids vote on fire and ambulance, then we will see who is dreading voting no on schools!

Oh noooooo . . . another one. Amy can NEVER make up her mind on a menu. Call in, drive through, does not matter. I know before I call or pull up. Amy says wait a minute . . . . happens at restuarants too. They always ask her to order first, because she is the woman, and she always tells them to take my order first.

John1
One of us will order and the other just says "I'll have that too." Our DGS laughs at us because 99% of the time we eat exactly the same thing.

Company is gone for the evening, except my mom who is staying here. 2 neices and their families will be back in the morning around 10, DrHug plans to do some portraits of their girls for them then they will head home around 1 so. I will need to take my mom to the Amtrak station in Portland around 1 also. Then we will be done with TG for another year.
My uncle and aunt left this morning, DrHug's nephew only got to come for the day yesterday. He drove all the way from Seattle yesterday morning and then had to drive back last night. It is about a 4 to 4 1/2 hr drive each way. He is young though and I guess we used to do trips like that.

We took the kids to a Japanese steak house where they cook at your table - since we live in the boonies we don't have anything like that. I used to go to Benihana all the time in NYC but I had never seen the egg spinning trick.
then he tossed the egg in the air and cracked it with the spatula.

and no turkey - yummm I was stuffed.

The chef made a volcano out of onion circles - piled them up in descending size order - the he poured oil inside and lit it with a match - it flamed and smoked. Giona loved it - he wants to show all his friends. oooopss.

that kind of thing scares me. luckily we have no matches at home.

Jaea is still shy of fire after the microwave incident - she hid under the table for some of the meal.

If you want to see holiday lights you can go to the botanical gardens in Norfolk or drive to Newport News and see them at Newport News park. That last Nor easter we had was bad so no lights at the beach. At least the weather is good now.

Yes, I'm feeling guilty...should arrive by the end of next week. They had free shipping, but it wouldn't be guaranteed before I left(ACK! next Sunday!!) so I had to pay for priority. I got two cards with it. I also got Sarah a cheaper one, an HP, but it is a 6.5. It will be an early Christmas present since she will want it for the cruise.

:woohoo: I'm sure you'll love it. It doesn't give you much time to play with it but just click away at Disney. Even with two cards I'll bet you will max them out. I'll have a laptop onboard with some CD's if you need to wipe the cards sometime.
