Three Little Pigs went out to dinner one night. The waiter came and took their drink order.
"I would like a Sprite," said the first little piggy.
"I would like a Coke," said the second little piggy.
"I want beer, lots and lots of beer," said the third little piggy
The drinks were brought out and the waiter took their orders for dinner.
"I want a nice big steak," said the first piggy.
"I would like the salad plate," said the second piggy.
"I want beer, lots and lots of beer," said the third little piggy.
The meals were brought out and a while later the waiter approached the table and asked if the piggy’s would like any dessert.
"I want a banana split," said the first piggy.
"I want a cheesecake," said the second piggy.
"I want beer, lots and lots of beer," exclaimed the third little piggy.
"Pardon me for asking," said the waiter to the third little piggy, “But why have you only ordered beer all evening?"
The third piggy says in an annoyed tone, “Well, somebody has to go 'Wee, wee, wee, all the way home, don’t they?!!!!!!!!!”
Very cute!!

DrHug is working at the State Prison today. New experience for him. He did NOT like the hours. He had to be there at 7am, it is an hour drive. He is very accoustomed to the 9 am start times. He works until 8 or 9 so often that he has a hard time getting to bed before midnight or later. :sad2:

I'm gonna clean out my joke in box....
here's one for ya John...
Christmas Demands!
Barbie's Letter To Santa:
Dear Santa,
Listen you fat little troll, I've been helping you out every year, playing at being the perfect Christmas Present, wearing skimpy bathing suits in frigid weather, and drowning in fake tea from one too many tea parties, and I hate to break it to ya Santa, but IT'S DEFINITELY PAY BACK TIME! There had better be some changes around here this Christmas, or I'm gonna call for a nationwide meltdown (and trust me, you won't wanna be around to smell it).
So, here's my holiday wish list for 1998, Santa.
1. A nice, comfy pair of sweat pants and a frumpy, oversized sweatshirt. I'm sick of looking like a hooker. How much smaller are these bathing suits gonna get? Do you have any idea what it feels like to have nylon and velcro up your butt?
2. Real underwear that can be pulled on and off. Preferably white. What bonehead at Mattel decided to cheap out and MOLD imitation underwear to my skin?!? It looks like cellulite!
3. A REAL man... maybe GI JOE. Heck, I'd take Tickle-Me-Elmo over that wimped-out excuse for a boy toy, Ken. And what's with that earring anyway? If I'm gonna have to suffer with him, at least make him (and me) anatomically correct.
4. Arms that actually bend so I can push the aforementioned Ken-wimp away once he is anatomically correct.
5. Chest (insert other B word) reduction surgery. I don't care whose arm you have to twist, just get it done.
6. A jog-bra. To wear until I get the surgery.
7. A new career. Pet doctor and school teacher just don't cut it. How about a systems analyst? Or better yet, a public relations senior account exec!
8. A new, more 90's persona. Maybe "PMS Barbie," complete with a miniature container of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and a bag of chips, "Animal Rights Barbie," with my very own paint gun, fitted with a fake fur coat, bottle of spray on blood and handcuffs. How about "Stop Smoking Barbie," sporting a Nicotrol patch and equipped with several packs of gum.
9. No more McDonald's endorsements. The grease is wrecking my vinyl.
10. Mattel stock options. It's been 37 years - I think I deserve it.
Okay Santa, that's it. Considering my valuable contribution to society, I don't think these requests are out of line. If you
disagree, then you can find yourself a new witch (insert other word) for next Christmas. It's that simple.
Yours Truly,
Barbie
I like your Barbie and Ken letters...they were funny!

It was that time, during the Sunday morning service, for "the children's sermon," and all the children were invited to come Forward. One little girl was wearing a particularly pretty dress and, as she sat down, the pastor leaned over and said to her, "That is a very pretty dress. Is it your Easter dress?" The little girl replied, "Yes, and my Mom says it's a b---tch to
iron."

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or
whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car
with an automatic transmission.
But mine taste good! :rolleyes1
Remember this motto to live by:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used
up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO what a ride!

What a wonderful message!
Making Pancakes
Six-year-old Brandon decided one Saturday morning to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour canister, spilling it on the floor.
He scooped some of the flour into the bowl with his hands, mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.
Brandon was covered with flour and getting frustrated. He wanted this to be something very good for Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad.
He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it all into the oven or on the stove and he didn't know how the stove worked!. Suddenly he saw his kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to push her away, knocking the egg carton to the floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting his pajamas white and sticky.
And just then he saw Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears welled up in Brandon's eyes. All he'd wanted to do was something good, but he'd made a terrible mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe even a spanking. But his father just watched him.
Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his own pajamas white and sticky in the process!
That's how God deals with us. We try to do something good in life, but it turns into a mess. Our marriage gets all sticky, we insult a friend, we can't stand our job, or our health goes sour.
Sometimes we just stand there in tears beca use we can't think of anything else to do. That's when God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even though some of our mess gets all over Him.
But just because we might mess up, we can't stop trying to "make pancakes" for God or for others. Sooner or later we'll get it right, and then they'll be glad we tried...

No surprise here...Why should it be any different? Are they working any less than older folks... NO Sure they can't work beyond certain weekday hours but have the same job requirements.
From 16 on...I worked 30-35 hours a week to pay for my own expenses...my car...my car insurance.....my clothes...my spending money...my hairspray (it was the 80's ya know).
Sorry didn't come from a family with cash... or an allowance fairy... If i wanted something...I had to earn it on my own...
I think the minimum wage has always included everyone. :confused3

A mother is driving a little girl to her friend's house for a play date.
"Mommy," the little girl asks, "how old are you?"
"Honey, you are not supposed to ask a lady her age," the mother replied.
"It's not polite."
"OK", the little girl says, "How much do you weigh?"
"Now really," the mother says, "those are personal questions and are really none of your business."
Undaunted, the little girl asks, "Why did you and Daddy get a divorce?"
"That is enough questions, young lady, honestly!"
The exasperated mother walks away as the two friends begin to play.
"My Mom won't tell me anything about her," the little girl says to her friend.
"Well," says the friend, "all you need to do is look at her drivers' license It is like a report card, it has everything on it."
Later that night the little girl says to her mother, "I know how old you are, you are 32."
The mother is surprised and asks, "How did you find that out?
"I also know that you weigh 140 pounds."
The mother is past surprised and shocked now. "How in heaven's name did you find that out?"
"And," the little girl says triumphantly, "I know why you and daddy got a divorce."
"Oh really?" the mother asks. "Why?"
"Because you got an F in sex."

I have to share an e-mail I just received....Brack...this is for you and Annette!
A minister was completing a Temperance sermon. With great emphasis he said, "If I had all the beer in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the
river."
With even greater emphasis he said, "And if I had all the wine in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."
And then finally, shaking his fist in the air, he said, "And if I had all the whiskey in the world, I'd take it and pour it into the river."
Sermon complete, he sat down.
The song leader stood very cautiously and announced with a smile, nearly laughing, "For our closing song, let us sing Hymn #365, "Shall We Gather at the River."
Smile, life is too short not to !!
If this brightened your day
Don't let it stop here
Pass it on with a smile
Keep spreading the Cheer.
See you at the river
I need to try and work that one in this Sunday!

A Georgia State Trooper pulled a car over on I-95 about 2 miles south of the Georgia/South Carolina state line. When the Trooper asked the driver why he was speeding, the driver answered that he was a magician and a juggler and he was on his way to Savannah to do a show that night at the Shrine Circus and didn't want to be late..
The trooper told the driver he was fascinated by juggling, and if the driver would do a little juggling f or him then he wouldn't give him a ticket. The driver told the Trooper that he had sent all of his equipment on ahead and didn't have anything to juggle. The Trooper told him that he had some flares in the trunk of his patrol car and asked if he could juggle them.
The juggler stated that he could, so the Trooper got three flares, lit them and handed them to the juggler. While the man was doing his juggling act, a car pulled in behind the patrol car. A drunk, good old boy, from S.C., got out and watched the performance briefly. He then went over to the patrol car, opened the rear door and got in.
The Trooper observed him doing this and went over to the patrol car, opened the door and asked the drunk what he thought he was doing. The drunk replied, "You might as well take my butt to jail, cause there's no way in hell I can pass that test."

I found out what the preschool drama was. There is a mom who is a bit, shall we say, overprotective. I am sure there is reason so I don't want to judge. The kids were taking a field trip to Acme today and the mom (yesterday) was saying her DD is scared of stores. OK? :confused3 One of the teachers was telling her about what they would be doing, kinda trying to show her it is fun. (the mom also says DD has issues at school, but the teachers don't see it) One of the things she mentioned was that they explain where things come from. Ya know, milk from a cow, eggs from a chiicken, potatoes from the ground. She then started to tell her about the kids usual favorite part: going in with the butcher where they would learn that the chicken nuggets they eat comes from a chicken and not McDonalds and such. Well this mom was horrified and said "But they are just babies!!" OK? I guess she continued with this until the teacher finally said "No, they are not babies!" I heard the mom talking about it a bit after school yesterday and it sounds like she may not be coming back.
FYI the kids had a great time today at Acme today and they loved the butcher. The little girl wasn't there.

I guess she continued with this until the teacher finally said "No, they are not babies!" OK, Brack, since you've been driving the roads of Maryland, West Virginia and Kentucky quite often....
what route would you take from the Philly suburbs to Rogers, Kentucky?? Online map sites are giving me different answers, of course.
It looks like the PA turnpike to I79 south. At Charleston, WV take I64 west to Louisville then south to Rogers. I prefer to stick to interstates.
That's a long drive!

..... the familiy we are traveling with just asked me if DCL is strict with the kids ages on excursions. We never did an excursion with DCL where we had to worry about the ages. Either our kids were old enough or we did stuff on our own. I would expect the ages to be pretty strict, meaning a 4 1/2 YO couldn't do an excursion for 5 and above. Anyone have direct experience?

on Dis and Carnival that they check and because of the insurance of the tour operator, usually will not waive it. happened on our recent Carnival cruise. Liz is 2 weeks away from 12 and they won't waive the age reqirement.

Some kids are going to have a tough time adjusting to the "real world" when they are protected so much. :sad2: My DS was 2 when he literally put 2 and 2 together with the chickens. We were at my grandparents house having lunch and eating chicken. My grandparents happen to have some chickens in their backyard. DS was eating and looking outside at the chickens. About halfway through the meal he gets a strange look and points at his plate and say "chicken?". He then points outside at the chickens in the back yard and "chicken?". It was kind of funny to watch him realize where his chicken tenders really came from. :rotfl:
Actually today at work I think I had a small encounter with one of these "helicopter parents" when their kids grow up. I mentioned the letters we sent out about filling out new state withholding forms, etc.. The Director of Benefits sends me an e-mail and the father of one of our employees got the letter and he was wanting to know how much was currently being withheld from his son's check, etc.. I looked it up on the system thinking it is pretty bad to have Daddy call the Director of Benefits for you but I thought maybe they were just 18/19 and right out of high school. Nope - the employee is 27. :sad2: I would be mortified if even that kind of thought popped into my parents head. What was he thinking? :confused3

My understanding is that there is no bending of the rules on the excursions think because of the insurance as previously mentioned. If they are a day too young they still cannot go. It really limits what you can do with younger kids.

I think we are going to get her an ipod but I am not sure which one. DS told me the 3 things he really wants. I need to pick them up but one isn't released for at least two more weeks. It really was much easier when the kids were younger. enjoy them while you can.

Hey Brack how are you doing? How's JoJo? I had to trim one of our dog's head today. he couldn't see to catch his toys. I called the groomer but they can't get the 2 of them in until the 17th. both of ours look so over grown. I was kind of hoping they could hold off until the end of nov so that they would be nicely groomed while we are gone. our neighbor takes care of them. the dogs really do so much better when they have more interaction but I can't kennel them. we tried it once but they did not do well. the kennels won't put them in the same cage and they don't do well without each other. in a lot of ways, I wish they could come with us but I know that wouldn't work.

I have to say that the screaming was the worst part . . . I have never heard such a high-pitched, piercing, screaming racket in my life. I will also note that there were probably about 100 men there out of 10,000 people, and there were absolutely NO boys there - all 5-12 year old girls. Mostly with moms.
I believe I should get some kind of medal for this.
Overall though, it was fun, and the kids seemed to have a great time. The dancing was pretty incredible. Some girl named Jordan opened the show, and Ashley Hutchinson from HS musical was a follow up open. They were both very good.

Let us know if the former president showed and how things went. :grouphug:
The FP (current...but only until Jan. President) did not show up for choir this evening. I am not surprised. I must say that I am a wee bit happy to not have to deal with that tonight.
I got a copy of the Sunday School Bylaws. There were a few things that we were not following at all!!!
I am going to make a copy for each member of the board for Jan. We only meet every 2 months...so they can look it over for the Feb. meeting. I know that it is far away...but I am excited!!!
The current/Former pres. never gave us an agenda. I am drafting one now. I am stealing some idea's for the consistory's monthy meeting agenda. I need to wait to add all of the things...but I figure I can get the rough copy down.

I got behind on here today. After PS pics I had to go to the music store to get the new tone chimes for the church. I told DH that we would watch a movie when I got home from choir. Well, one of my friends and I started talking...and next thing you know....it was 10:45!!!! Her daughter is getting married in a few weeks. We were finalizing the music. Then we were going over some Sunday school stuff! I thought it was about 9:14 when I left. I almost fell over when I saw how late it was! DH wasn't mad but he was a bit bummed because it was too late for a movie!

but can any experienced cruiser give me what your typical day at sea is.
It would be helpful if PJ, Angie and some families chimed in so I could see the different perspectives - single, w/kids, empty nesters etc.
How do you start your day? what do you like to do during the day - review navigators, wing it? etc.
In what subtle ways is it different from a port day. Like I know I will not be doing .........

so Becka, if we have 15 regular posters (approx.) and 30 days left to get to 60,000 - how many would we need to post per day so that we hit it.
we can have John1 develop a contract to all commit to 20 posts per day. Just quickly ballparking it with no other factors thrown in there - we should just about make it by cruise day.

Not sure what to make of this choice myself. The serious Tar Heel football fans on the net (yes, they do exist!) seem to be excited about Davis.
Brack was right about the pregame and postgame parties... but I do have to say that watching a game in beautiful Kenan Stadium on a sunny Saturday afternoon is pretty fun in between the parties.
I do have to agree that watching the game from the stadium is awesome. I haven't been since I was a student and at that time we at least had three great running backs (and no one of them was not Charlie "ChooChoo" Justice).
Kenan is a classic football stadium.

We are doing really good just busy. JoJo is really good and has been on the latest trips we've taken (over 2,000 miles last week). He had his hair done just before that trip. We bought him a sweater with a Mickey on it wearing a Santa hat.
We don't kennel JoJo either. It makes it hard to find a babysitter sometimes but we have managed so far.
Maybe one day DCL will have a dog friendly cruise!

Well, I review the navigator after we put the kids to bed at night. I also call the PALS line to get the character schedule. I then coordinate the characters we will see with the activities & write it down. DH gets up around 5...like at home...and goes out on deck to get some coffee, enjoy the sunrise, and get some great pictures of the ship and the water. :) I am usually up with the kids 7-8. He brings us something to drink & a muffin while we get dressed. We head up to Topsiders then the kids get in the pool...unless there is something else going on that they want to do. We don't have a spreadsheet ;) but I do keep that list of things to do with me. It never seems rushed because before we start one thing...like swimming...I will tell the kids what time we need to be someplace to see X. I like to go to Shutters & the shops while DH is at the pool with the kids so I can really look.

Wake up. Eat. Find a chair on deck. Eat. Get in the pool. Eat. Get sunburned. Eat. Drink. Get ready for Dinnner. Eat. Go to the show. Walk the deck. Eat. Go to the shops. Eat. Go to the clubs. Drink. Drink. Drink. Back to the room - if we can remember where that is. Order Room Service. Eat. Sleep.
Ok...so its not really like that; we go to the shops BEFORE the show.
Now, you ask about a typical day. With this many DIsers on boards, "typical" just went out the porthole. I'm sure the DPN (DIS Personal Navigator) will have our schedules there.

Well - one of us adults (ahem!) gets up and gets a tray of breakfast stuff...donuts, bacon, cereals, etc. Everyone else gets to sleep in....by the time that person (usually me) is back, we sit on our verandah and have breakfast. My boys are usually bouncing off the walls to get out and go....so DH takes them up to walk on the decks or play BB or do guy stuff that I usually don't know about.
By the time everyone is dressed, my boys are ready to hit the pool, slide or kids club. If the boys are in the kids clubs, DH and I find a great deck chair and relax to the ocean waves.
That would be a very generic day.
Depending on the day and time, we might have Palo brunch ressies or do one of the culinary classes or wine tastings, etc.
Lunch is usually grabbing something by the pools.
The afternoon - well there is ping pong, movies, more kids club stuff, etc.
I usually dont spend the time at the spa. I get my spa treatments the day or two before we leave to put me in the right mood for cruising. I have my local spas that I visit and I know what to expect out of their treatments. But I suppose one could also visit the spa.
Its really great not to have much planned. We do the "wing-it" approach and do whatever we feel like.
The day always seems to fly by and it's time to get ready for Dinner!
Hope that helps.

For all you with bathroom issues....
WOMEN AND PUBLIC TOILETS
My mother was a fanatic about public toilets. When I was a little girl, she'd bring me in the stall, teach me to wad up toilet paper and wipe the seat. Then, she'd carefully lay strips of toilet paper to cover the seat. Finally, she'd instruct, "Never, never sit on a public toilet seat. And she'd demonstrate "The Stance," which consisted of balancing over the toilet in a sitting position without actually letting any of your flesh make contact with the Toilet Seat. But by this time, I'd have wet down my leg and we'd go home.....
PS - The answer to the other question, "Why do women go to public bathrooms in pairs?" is "So the other woman can hold the door and hand you Kleenex."
This is one of my favorites. The version I know islonger and involves hanging the bag around your neck because there is no hook in the bathroom stall. This cracks me up because who hasn't experienced at least one of these things. I told this to my daughter in a parable form vs. joke and everytime she uses the bathroom she says Mom, tell me about the lady who had to put her bag around her neck..Tell me about the time you had to do it" :lmao:

That new wage will apply to middle and high school babysitters as well. I don't know what the rates are in your area, but it will be quite a shock to parents around here.We pay $10 to start!

I'm jumping around because I haven't had a chance to read in ages.
John - sorry to hear about the levy. We have the same issue and so does my sister. "I've raised my kids" vs. "I have kids now" The fundamental issue that everyone forgets is the community aspect. Yes, your kids have been raised but when they were younger they did have these things and it does effect your property value to have a good school district because when you retire that is your additional savings. It is shocking how ugly it becomes though...and it becomes a "that's your problem" not a community problem.
John you've done Cheetalicious (loved the photos!) are you ready for High School Musical? I posted that their concert is coming. You can do it again!
Suzanne, I haven't caught up on all but  pixiedust:
Okay back to reading. I'm trying to skim but when an older post is referenced I need to go back anyway - I just need to find out where I left off. I think I'm hesitant to do that because it will be gads of pages.

Nathan’s day at school was better yesterday but he still seems in a crabby mood. I think he has preschooler PMS. :sad2: What is worse is that I have Mommy PMS and it is not a good combination… :rolleyes1 He gave the flower to the little girl when she got to school and she really loved it and his teacher said that the Mom really appreciated it as well. We watched Cars last night with the kids, I got most of my side of the families Christmas shopping done on-line last night and then DH and I watched our TIVOed shows: How I Met Your Mother and America’s Next Top Model. We go to my family’s house for T-giving so I need to have all of their shopping done before then so I can take it down there all wrapped. I hope everything gets her in time because I hate to ship stuff down to them later.

Tickets go on Sale November 18 for the January Cleveland Show . . . they were passing out leaflets at Cheetah - but I am soooooo bummed - no Troy!
It WAS really funny all the moms commenting on no dads at Cheetah. The mom behind me (while Amy and Sophia left the seats to shop) mentioned "see suzy, there ARE some dads here" I turned around and said, yeah, but not that many! She said "Yeah, I guess you are a little outnumbered".
Well, at least there are short lines at the men's room . . . although I remember going to concerts in my college days where women used the men's room because of long lines . . . wonder if that happened last night?

ok this is a neurotic question -
but can any experienced cruiser give me what your typical day at sea is.
It would be helpful if PJ, Angie and some families chimed in so I could see the different perspectives - single, w/kids, empty nesters etc.
How do you start your day? what do you like to do during the day - review navigators, wing it? etc.
In what subtle ways is it different from a port day. Like I know I will not be doing .........
just curious. no experience here.
thanks so much.
elaine
Both with and without kids we check the navigators to see what is going on. Sea days are my absolute favorite. Slow pace, sleep in, have a sit down breakfast at Lumiere's, take part in activities that interest us (ship tour, etc), visit the shops, coffee and skipbo at Cove Cafe, sample the drink of the day on deck 9 or 10, test out the loungers on deck 4, and most importantly spend some time in the Rainforest. With kids some of these things take coordination with things they are interested in at the clubs, or shifts if they don't want to go to the clubs.
:goodvibes :sunny: Thank you for making me think of all these things this morning. :thumbsup2

for those of you with young boy cruisers - Giona is almost 6 (in Jan)
what is the most important things to remember to bring -
or I wouldn't want to be caught on a Bahamian island without.....
I wasn't planning on bringing a lot in the toy category because I think there will be very full days. Is this a mistake? just some things for the dining room?
I just need a brain dump. LOL.
elaine
We have never brought toys for the kids. The youngest we have sailed with was Aaron when he had just turned 4, so no toddler exerience here. None of them ever got bored or yearned for toys left at home. Sand toys are probably the only thing other than the obvious clothes, pirate gear, etc that I can think of. We ordered a sand bucket basket from Shirley for Aaron this time so we don't have to try to fit it into suitcase. I'm going to try to convince him to leave it for other children at CC since there are not alot of beaches in AZ. ;) We will see....
