Vanessa and all - can you help me with the basket issue too - I'm not that into getting al ot of food items and candy since we will be eating all week. What else would be fun and practical for the ship?
Lisa had said before that Shirley will do just about anything but I don't even know what to ask for. Are there sand toys available at CC or should we get them in the baskets?
thanks.
elaine
There are some you can check out at Scuttles Cove, but FEW and you can't really count on them. I am going to order one from Shirley. I think I will ask her to put a juice box in there for Costa Maya day and then see what else she suggests. I'm thinking we won't need food also.

I bought some buckets and shovels, etc in the dollar spot of target that I'll pack and bring. Then I can probably leave them behind and I'll have extra luggage space for souvies! :teeth:

That is what I am doing. They will be tink gifts for the first night.
I am going to stop at a grocery store before we leave and get juice boxes for our shore days. I don't want my kids drinking milk from strange countries.

buckets are 0.50 - 1.50 here in Florida....! If they weren't such a pain to lug around I would bring some for everyone. I have a garage full.....
Samantha and Haley are eating dinner....a "romantic dinner" Samantha calls it as they are dining by candlelight. Oh if she only knew.
DH is on his way home and I hope to get them to bed early!
Elaine - bucket stuff - pretty much anything you can think of can go in there.

This was me yesterday afternoon.
I'd snuck back in (library) to catch up on posts. DH was taking the boys to their baseball games and I was going to meet them at the ball fields. I get a call on my cell from DH saying "Where are you? Aren't you coming to their games?"
(No dear, I'm STILL catching up on my DIS addiction. I'll be there in a minute, thank you very much.)
Jeez, it wasn't like I was missing their WEDDING or something!

I talked to my BF today... she and her family cruised in June and were going to rebook onboard but didn't. She tells me the CM said that I could rebook for her on our cruise if she changes her mind and get the 10% off and stateroom credit. So BF wants to give me a check for the deposit and have me book another cruise for her. Is this really possible? I thought if you didn't rebook while you were there you are out of luck on receiving the discounts? Anyone here know? :confused3

I ran again this morning and I feel like the living dead today. I just want to put my head down on the desk and close my eyes! I can barely keep my eyes open! I have tried rootbeer jelly beans, but no luck. I have my huge Diet Coke, nothing... Um this wasn't this hard 7 years ago. Is this an age thing? I thought after 2 weeks you were not supposed to be sore anymore. Is is that I have more stuff moving around than I did 7 years ago? Anyone? Is there enough ibuprofen at the grocery store for me today? NO!
Sorry Kim,
Since I am suffering from the same disease, I cannot help you . . .

What's for dinner tonight?
Well, I had a nice talk with DD about what is & isn't acceptable, she read me her homework book (without any help from me!!!), and I reviewed DS's homework with him. They were both done before DH got home from work. I hadn't started on dinner yet so while I was quizzing DD on her spelling words for the week...since she insisted that she didn't need to write them...DH grilled the porkchops & made mashed potatoes. :) He even did the dishes. DD did know 9 out of 10 words so I told her to write "of" five times. She wrote it 101 times! Sure knows it now. ;)

O.K. - pardon me, but I'm going to whine for a minute.
I WANT MY COMPUTER BACK! :furious:
There, I feel much better! Don't know if it's the DIS or the Library's computers, but it's taking forever to post. The keyboard keeps freezing up, then I get "server is too busy" messages. Must be a hint to get outta here.
But, before I go.....one of my all-time favorite SATC episodes was when Carrie goes to Mr. Big's apartment, discovers he's leaving NYC and moving to Napa, she makes fun of his taste in music, he plays "Moon River" on the stereo, she says it's corny, he says it's classic. They go on a last NYC "date" -- carriage ride through Central Park, Carrie says it's corny, Big says it's classic. Same episode where Miranda has her baby. Carrie tries to get back in time to say a last goodbye and he's already gone. She walks into an empty room and finds he's left her the Henry Mancinni album and a 1st Class plane ticket to CA.
Am I the only one who has never watched SATC?

I just added Dody's milestone to the site & was surprised by what I saw.
The thread started on 11/25/04.
10000 8/2/06
20000 9/4/06
30000 10/1/06
Here it is 10/16 and we just posted 38000!!!
8100 posts in 15 days = 540 posts per day.
15 more days to October x 540 = another 8100 posts so to 46200 by 10/31/06.
30 days in November x 540 = 16200 > 62400 by 11/30/06.
Even stopping on 12/6 for travel for most of us that is another 3240 posts.
Potential of reaching 65640 by cruise time!!!! :cool1:

20000 9/4/06
30000 10/1/06
Here it is 10/16 and we just posted 38000!!!
8100 posts in 15 days = 540 posts per day.
15 more days to October x 540 = another 8100 posts so to 46200 by 10/31/06.
30 days in November x 540 = 16200 > 62400 by 11/30/06.
Even stopping on 12/6 for travel for most of us that is another 3240 posts.
Potential of reaching 65640 by cruise time!!!! :cool1:

Those little things in speak tell someone immediately that you aren't from that place.
Over the years I've changed certain things based on where I have traveled and some have stuck. In ATL everything is Coke - orange coke please. I kept my Pepsi fix hidden. ;) In KC,MO I think it was Pop or was that Cincy? One was soda and one was pop can't recall which.
When I worked in New York (Upstate and Manhattan) things were different and when I lived in Manhattan I specifically changed to waiting online vs. inline.
by the way growing up:
It's not soda or pop but tonic.

Thanks! I am thinking that we should have enough education opps to mix in with the regular work. I included the tour with interactive ruins time, visiting the village school to donate and observe, stingrays at CC, catameran at CC with history of island, possible research for Cozumel since we have nothing planned there, plotting our group's location on a map to note the States figuring distance traveled to reach the port & find out who is going the greatest & shortest distance, interactions with CMs to find out about where they are from, and ask the Captain a few questions. Of course, I could also include something about budgeting for the trip or gas milage on our way to the port. He is learning how to use a calculator (they have to use one for the EOG tests in 3rd grade) so he could figure that kind of stuff out. He can do the math work before the cruise either before we leave or on the trip down to get it over with. I want him to keep a journal this trip too. He really liked having one last year.

Tana i will try to call you tomorrow. We got in later than we expected as we missed our connecting flight in Chicago due to leaving late from Akron canton due to the plane being late coming in. We arrived at Chicago and ran to the gate which was clear across the airport and got there just as the plane was backing away from the gate! I thought I was going to scream.... of course I couldn't because I couldn't breathe therefore I couldn't scream!!
Any way we are here and the hotel is right downtown. I am on the 20th floor, have to use my key to get that special floor, oh boy!!! This hotel has sleep number beds and gives you a cd to sleep to and an eye mask and lavender spray for you pillow!!!
Well I am off to bed now!!
Goodnight all!

how U be, Kristina?
I'm around, just not as interested in posting lately. The chat the other night really bothered me in some things that were said jokeingly...I unfortuanetly did not see them as funny. The situation was innocent but a joke (a bad one) was made and carried too far and its upsetting. :sad2: Not that there is any truth in it, just that its not something to joke about. I understand that some DISers have come forward and apologized for the situation and I appreciate that.
I heard there was some discussion about us not coming on the cruise; I don't see any truth in that. We wouldn't miss it.
Anyway, I'll be around; just maybe not posting as much.

ooh, what a frustrating travel day. Glad you have such a fun hotel to relax in now! You'll have to report back on the sleep number bed, is it heavenly?? You must be at the Radisson? We have had planes back out on us in Chicago. I HATE when that happens.
Chicago is the only place that it has happened to us too.
Oh, by the way, this is DrHug. I am posting the baby picture for Angie. This is one of the cruise prevention babies. Carter Dale Stafford; b. 10/10/06.
Because of him his Mommy couldn't go on the cruise. His cohort cousin will be along soon. Because of her Her Mommy can't go cruisin' either. We're hoping she makes it here safe and sound too. MrsMork will tell you all about it. G'nite for now.

Vanessa and all - can you help me with the basket issue too - I'm not that into getting al ot of food items and candy since we will be eating all week. What else would be fun and practical for the ship?
Lisa had said before that Shirley will do just about anything but I don't even know what to ask for. Are there sand toys available at CC or should we get them in the baskets?
thanks.
elaine
elaine - not sure if you've ordered already, but stay away from the food part...unless there is a specific movie candy that might make your kids happy. Whenever we've done food in our baskets (snacks and beer basket for DH or the candy and toys for kids)...we have an abundance of food. We actually bring some home (stuff never opened). I'd recommend anything along the lines of what your kids like...coloring books...Mickey pencils...we got our kids stuffed Mickeys one year...they are too old now. But think of what you like and call Shirley's shop. They will be able to name multiple items to give you ideas.

Depending on how old the home is door knobs can be taken and attached to wood to make hooks.

Um...who's gonna tell Lisa that this is supposed to be a vacation and her Type A personality needs some R&R! Heck - if she wanted her DS to have an independent project...she should have taught him how to organize a bunch of Disers!! That would surely get an A!!!

:cool1:

I don't think he's been in the limelight in a while, maybe he needed some exposure. But there he sat with his shirt all untucked looking a bit messy while the others guys looked sharp.
Aaron - sorry to hear about Allie...hopefully once she gets some meds she'll be doing better. It's nice you can stay home. I'm either using my PTO or they go to Kids Under the Weather here at the hospital. DH has issues taking off work. Hope she and Becka both feel better soon.
Have a great day everyone....oh, has anyone seen the banana lollipops on OT? I can't believe they even make this stuff. Who's bringing the banana apparel? We need some form of banana hat or skirt or something and then one lucky person can be the honorary banana of the day.
John1 - when are you guys arriving - the 7th? Are you just planning on hanging out until the party that night? We could start some real DIS controversy and you could pool hop on over (just kidding). And everyone who is in Orlando before the cruise - did you all rent cars? Will there be a DIS -DCL or bust caravan on the way to the port?
