wow - the hospital that administered the wrong dose of medications on three newborns killing them, just administered a wrong dose of painkillers on an 18 year old mother to be in for an induction.

Joy and Tana will appriecate this...
I FINISH MY FIRST CJ CIRCLE TODAY! And it was a DIS DCL CJ, we had 8 members and we are only one month behind, woo hoo. It was a blast, I have signed up for a second DIS CJ and really find that it makes me scrap instead of thinking about or just shopping for scrapping, lol
Pj
That is great! I gave up on my CJ... out of 12 people, we had 2 go MIA almost immediately, and a couple others who decided not to return CJs once we decided to end the group early. Out of everyone, I think not even half got their CJs back. How pathetic is that?? (DisneyFreakJackie didn't get hers back, and that sucks because she does such great work in everyone else's book!)

I read an article that it was the doctor's fault...but did the doctor write the wrong scrip or did the nurse program the machine incorrectly. I read that the machine was programmed to put out pain meds in 1 hour when they were supposed to be dispersed over 10 hours. Yikes!

Alright fellow creative Disers...need your help...
A friend of mine's parents will be having their house destroyed since the kind State of PA is taking over the land for a highway. They live near Philly. She is looking for an idea of what they can take/do as a keepsake from the house before it gets destroyed.
I mentioned take window moulding/doorframe moulding and create either a picture frame or mirror.
Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks!

Ooh I almost forgot - DD loved her first iceskaing session. She and DH unfortunately did have a bit of a commotion en route to the rink. He hit something (thinks the manhole cover was off in the street) but what ever it was ripped the tire to shreds. He was fortunately by the rink when it happened to he could get into it and call AAA. Another unfortunate mark to replace the Saturn sooner vs. later (bummer) and reminds me that since it has a donut on it I will probably need to drop DH off at the train station...
OK - really got to get to sleep then....
So glad your dd is enjoying ice skating! Last year my oldest took a class, so my ds4 (3 at the time) just skated around the other end of the rink with the training thing. He picked it up quite a bit faster, I think it was better to start him so young and with a big snowsuit for padding so he wasn't afraid of falling! There are little 2 year olds out there whizzing around. Now I take them to open skate as much as I can. I do not enjoy it at all but they sure love it and I'd rather be skating around then sitting on the bench watching them and freezing my tush off.
I can't believe the tire was ripped to shreds, wow. What a bummer!

About 3 years ago I had terrible pain in my upper stomach I thought I was dying. Nothing helped, hot, cold. eating, not eating, it just kept getting worse. Finally I had to go to the emergency room and I had pancreatitis(not sure of spelling)... Of course, before the hospital told me I had this they sent me home. They gave me some pain medicine and some Flexall, a muscle relaxer and sent me home. After being home about 1 hour the phone rings, keep in mind it is now 3:00AM, I answer it and it is the Dr from the hospital who proceeds to tell me that I need to come back to the hospital to be admitted. They had released me using someone elses chart, some guy with back spasms, and I had to be admitted since I had pancratitis, thought to be caused by a gallstone.
Needless to say I was a little upset and after having the Flexall that was meant for the guy I had a hard time standing because my muscles were really relaxed!!! Anyway went in and had to have complete "belly rest" for 3 days!! Do you know that every TV show and commercial has food in it! i couldn't even have water, Just IV's.
I was like Carl for the first year. Watched everything I ate, cut out all fat and lost about 60 lbs. Well the memory of the pain has faded, like with childbirth, the reason you have more than one child, and I have gained weight and eat everything in sight!!!
Oh well.. I hope I didn't jinx myself by telling the story!!
What an amazing story Amy! I can't believe they discharged you in error. I have heard of patients getting the wrong medication but not being sent home! Thank goodness they called and admitted the mistake, and the Flexall medication didn't hurt you.

Well, we aren't watching any of them either - TV for me is either what Sophia is watching (Disney), or Sports.
Unfortunately, Carla has now hooked me on Heroes though . . . however, since I keep forgetting what night it is on, and when, I keep buying episodes on iTunes for my iPod - something I NEVER thought I would do - pay for TV (other than cable that is).
I am very afraid to check out Battlestar Galactica . . . one show a season is enough for me!
John1
The Sci-fi channel reruns Heroes every week. I forget which day though. I believe the first run episodes are on monday (tonight) but our DVR is full at the time it airs so DH set DVR to record the sci fi channel reruns.

I haven't read the background on the jury duty thing but I can tell you what goes on in Atlanta. If you get Jury duty in DeKalb or Fulton counties (Atlanta), they don't care about childcare, prepaid vacations, work, home, family, jury duty in other locations, or illness you have to show up. There are a few exceptions but they are very restricted. In Gwinnett County, where I live, you can get Jury Duty delayed for up to a year for almost any reason at all just for asking nicely in a letter. I got it delayed once because it was the first week of DD's school and I didn't want to miss it.

I had jury duty and I just had to call and pick my own time within the next 6 months. I suppose it depends on your county's rules. I kind of enjoyed jury duty -- I got to talk to adults all day for a change, I got to go out to lunch -- that's a nice change of pace! There were 14 of us that were in a jury pool and had to sit in a small room for an entire afternoon waiting to be interviewed. Most like me were struck down... an attorney used a strike to get rid of us. So the next day we were back in the pool. One gal brought Grey's Anatomy on DVD so we watched that, did a puzzle, and chatted all day. Not a bad day!! After 4 days I was put on call in status and they never called me in. I was disappointed not to be on a case. But the case I was interviewed for was a murder case and could have gone 6 weeks.. that would be too long to have to find babysitters!! Another time they pulled us for another jury pool so we lined up, went through security, yada yada. But the case settled before we even got in the elevator to go upstairs.

Lisa,
Last year I finished 7 years of not having a "paid" job. I couldn't wait to get back to "work" so I could get some rest! Isn't it funny how non "paid work" stuff can fill your day and burden your life more than "paid work" stuff? The trouble is you can't leave it at work because it is at home with you!
But, The school was lucky to have you there for PTO. It sounds like the current president is leaning extra heavy on you this year too. I hope you are pacing yourself.

Alathough the last time I went I was in the courtroom but never made it to the jury box and another time I sat all day waiting to be called and the defendent ended up taking a deal at the last minute.
I have a question... if you're called to jury duty when you have a vacation scheduled will they excuse you? I've never had to deal with this type of situation.

I had the perfect 15th anniversary ring/mom ring planned when I was pregnant with DS. My first two kids are September and April (sapphire and diamond). DS was due Sept 10, so another sapphire. Beautiful 3-stone ring, right. Both girls were late, induced, and the due date of the 10th for the third should have been a safe bet, right? Count on the boy to mess up MY plan. Walt chose to be born at 9:30 pm on Aug 31, so no sapphire for him. (And sorry, I don't like the August peridot birthstone!)

they will here. In our county you are called for a 3 month period. At the orientation day you give them dates you are not available. If you are not available most of that time (i.e. surgery scheduled or something) then they would not excuse you, but would delay it to the next 3 month period. By the way, I was just on a jury and I will not do it again. I will say whatever it takes to get out of the jury box. :sad2:

I had the perfect 15th anniversary ring/mom ring planned when I was pregnant with DS. My first two kids are September and April (sapphire and diamond). DS was due Sept 10, so another sapphire. Beautiful 3-stone ring, right. Both girls were late, induced, and the due date of the 10th for the third should have been a safe bet, right? Count on the boy to mess up MY plan. Walt chose to be born at 9:30 pm on Aug 31, so no sapphire for him. (And sorry, I don't like the August peridot birthstone!)
I totally understand. I always wanted a gorgeous family ring -- sapphire, emerald... I got THREE orange topaz and one diamond. No thanks!

That's how it used to be at our church. Then the Pastor we loved left for another church. We just got a new one and (sorry God), he's a bit too "glib" for my tastes.
I probably just lost my corner suite in Heaven, didn't I? ::yes::
Oh I don't think so. I've never read that being honest about a pastor's ability would affect which suite you get. :)

We had the best time there that I have ever had at Chuck E Cheese. We arrived at 10 AM and ordered our Pizza for 11:15. We were literally the only people there. The next family came in when we were eating!!!!! Our kids had the entire place to themselves! They had a blast running around and playing.

I will say this. Right before we left for our last cruise there were at least 50 empty rooms if I recall correctly (say about a week prior). I got to the check in line by, say 11, and they said there were no upgrades. I don't think they make all the rooms available. :sad2: KWIM?
I've always wondered about this, too.
In March, there were lots of rooms available before we went......no upgrades at the port and we were one of the first ones in the terminal that morning. :confused3

Hi Charlotte!
Our old Pastor spoke so slowly it was killing me to listen to him. Nick (our current and awesome pastor) is awesome. He and his DW were taking ballroom dance lessons. This past sermon he was doing the waltz (alone) and saying that is how many people move through life...they just try and glide along. Then he started to do the tango and he said that God wants us to be bold like the way you dance the tango. There were many other points but that was the best!

We had two groups and the main 12 person group is having just awful times too, some books haven't been moved since the spring. And to not get your own book back, just bad CJing, and I am a rookie. I hear that mine is on it's way back to me next week, I will take pics and post them on my .mac account. I hadn't seen a cj since July and was really getting worry, but they started moving again in September and now we have finished up.

A few years ago, I had to have foot surgery and the doctor actually wrote ON my leg with a SHARPIE "THIS LEG".
I kid you not. :sad2:
that is what they do here...DH had knee surgery earlier in the year and they marked it with him awake and he initialed it as well.
I also painted his toes on the leg in question the night before just to be sure his memory was working!

I miss it alot, and the reruns on TBS just don't cut it. Some of the bad language and risque content is imperative to the funny factor. I mean, quite a bit of Samantha's words are cut out and sometimes they so make the scene.
I've only caught bits/pieces of SATC on TBS.....but from what I've seen, it's just not the same show.
So, favorite SATC episode?

Alright fellow creative Disers...need your help...
A friend of mine's parents will be having their house destroyed since the kind State of PA is taking over the land for a highway. They live near Philly. She is looking for an idea of what they can take/do as a keepsake from the house before it gets destroyed.
I mentioned take window moulding/doorframe moulding and create either a picture frame or mirror.
Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks!
When this happened to my Grandparent's barn (on a farm that was being taken for highway), we saved some of the weathered barn wood. My Dad still has it at home in HIS barn just waiting for me to make it into something, someday.
Get the whole family in front of the house for a group picture, then frame it in wood from the house? Too weird?

There, I feel much better! Don't know if it's the DIS or the Library's computers, but it's taking forever to post. The keyboard keeps freezing up, then I get "server is too busy" messages. Must be a hint to get outta here.
But, before I go.....one of my all-time favorite SATC episodes was when Carrie goes to Mr. Big's apartment, discovers he's leaving NYC and moving to Napa, she makes fun of his taste in music, he plays "Moon River" on the stereo, she says it's corny, he says it's classic. They go on a last NYC "date" -- carriage ride through Central Park, Big says it's corny, Carrie says it's classic. Same episode where Miranda has her baby. Carrie tries to get back in time to say a last goodbye and he's already gone. She walks into an empty room and finds he's left her the Henry Mancinni album and a 1st Class plane ticket to CA.
Of course, the "go get our girl/find her in Paris" episode is right up there! :thumbsup2

I don't have lots of jewels....but diamonds, dark blue (black) sapphires and tanzanite are my favorites.

OK, Finally figured out, Sex and the City.
It is like doing crosswords trying to decode this stuff.
And Kim - how cool is that to have the bus there? I DID used to watch that show. It did bring tears to my eyes sometimes.
Amy will probably ask if you have seen Tye with his shirt off!

Please not let me go to h-e-double hockeysticks for calling a catholic school parent a witch....
You are not horrible. And no religion has a copywrite on witches, all have them. Good Luck!!

I miss it alot, and the reruns on TBS just don't cut it. Some of the bad language and risque content is imperative to the funny factor. I mean, quite a bit of Samantha's words are cut out and sometimes they so make the scene.
::yes:: that was a great show!

Back from picking DS up from school. He got a prize for cleanest lunch room table... he got an annoying clicking toy that's driving me nuts.
