how did you manage without that? DD & DS would not touch anything other than formula when they were still on it. DH forgot ours a couple of times but I always outsmarted him by having a small reserve of dry formula. I just had to get the water from somewhere.

My DH also had a root canal done over a year ago and it wasn't feeling "quite right" earlier this summer. He went to an endodontist for a re-do. They discovered the original dentist (very reliable guy, wonderful in fact -- did mine a few years earlier) left a smallish piece of metal way down inside his tooth area. They never mentioned it to him.

The re-do isn't helping, either. It's starting to hurt again.

So, do you think that's kosher to have left the metal in there without telling him? The only thing I can figure is it was some kind of dental implement that broke off and it was too hard to get out. :confused3

Well, I don't see where it is any different than a surgeon leaving a sponge inside a patient on the operating table. Yes, it happens...and other stuff that would make you shudder. We gave her water...then some very diluted milk. When we left the park before going to our dinner meet we hit the grocery store and got some. My DD doesn't drink a lot so she was okay. My DS would have died!!!! She is eating all table foods so she just ate food. She did fine but we were so stressed. My DH felt so badly. He was so embarassed. This has never happened before!!! If we had not been meeting people we would have gone to the store immediatly...such is life!

my DH is starting to worry about me. he seems to think I may have an addiction to the boards. I can't understand that at all. My oldest could sleep through anything!
I used to swear that the youngest was awakened by the slightest change in air currents and wouldn't even walk past his room for fear of waking him up!!

Thankfully both of our kids slept thru anything. DS always slept thru Mass...made it really easy on us for years. :lmao: People would see him in the stores & want to look at his eyes since he was awake. LOL! We would take them to the Irish Thunder show at BG in Wbrg when ever we were there around 3 for their naps. YUP! They slept thru THAT noise. LOL!

Angie that is funny that you mentioned honeycrisp apples. Today we were going to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch thing. Dh and I wanted to go to this one that has a hay rack ride, pony rides, corn maze, face painting, apples, pumpkins, live music, and tons of apples and pumpkins. We pick up my Mom and she says she wants to go to this place that is further away and not nearly as much to do because she heard they have honeycrisp apples. she just can't stop talking about these honeycrisp apples. We said we'll go to the fun place, but if they don't have honeycrisps then we'll go to your place afterward. On the way there we passed at least 5 different farms or roadside stands selling honeycrisps, and then at the orchard of course they have tons of them. So we had to mock her a little bit! And now I have a bag full of honeycrips apples too. I have never made an apple pie, would you care to share your recipe?

RECIPE

Preheat overn to 450

CRUST

1 cup (two sticks) of butter, slightly softened
2 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
7 tablespoons ice water
1 tablespoon vinegar

Cut the butter, flour and salt with a pastry blender or fork until crumbly, then add the water and vinegar. With fingers quickly mix it just until moistened. Split in half. Roll out one half on floured breadboard. Fold in quarters, transfer to a deep dish pie pan and unfold.

Filling:

8 cups thinly sliced apples (honeycrisps are the BEST)
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon GOOD QUALITY cinnamon (I use Watkins brand and it makes a huge difference in the outcome of the pie)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of salt
few dashes of butter

Combine sugar, flour, spices and salt. Reserve just a little to sprinkle in the bottom of the pie crust, mix the remainder with the apples. Place the apple mixture in the pie crust, dot with butter.

Roll out second crust, fold in quarters, transfer to top of apple mixture in piepan, unfold. Seal the edges of the crusts together by pinching. With a sharp knife make some slits in the top to "vent" during cooking.

Place pie in the oven and reduce the heat to 425. Bake 1 hour. About 10 min before the pie is done remove the foil from around the edge so it will brown also.

Remove from oven and put on a rack to cool.

Angie that is funny that you mentioned honeycrisp apples. Today we were going to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch thing. Dh and I wanted to go to this one that has a hay rack ride, pony rides, corn maze, face painting, apples, pumpkins, live music, and tons of apples and pumpkins. We pick up my Mom and she says she wants to go to this place that is further away and not nearly as much to do because she heard they have honeycrisp apples. she just can't stop talking about these honeycrisp apples. We said we'll go to the fun place, but if they don't have honeycrisps then we'll go to your place afterward. On the way there we passed at least 5 different farms or roadside stands selling honeycrisps, and then at the orchard of course they have tons of them. So we had to mock her a little bit! And now I have a bag full of honeycrips apples too. I have never made an apple pie, would you care to share your recipe?


Honeycrisps do NOT keep as well as other apples. Put them in the coldest spot in the frig to make them last a bit longer. The will be picking them here until late Oct and they will just barely make it to Thanksgiving for pies.

Preheat overn to 450

CRUST

1 cup (two sticks) of butter, slightly softened
2 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
7 tablespoons ice water
1 tablespoon vinegar

Cut the butter, flour and salt with a pastry blender or fork until crumbly, then add the water and vinegar. With fingers quickly mix it just until moistened. Split in half. Roll out one half on floured breadboard. Fold in quarters, transfer to a deep dish pie pan and unfold.

Filling:

8 cups thinly sliced apples (honeycrisps are the BEST)
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon GOOD QUALITY cinnamon (I use Watkins brand and it makes a huge difference in the outcome of the pie)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of salt
few dashes of butter

Combine sugar, flour, spices and salt. Reserve just a little to sprinkle in the bottom of the pie crust, mix the remainder with the apples. Place the apple mixture in the pie crust, dot with butter.

Roll out second crust, fold in quarters, transfer to top of apple mixture in piepan, unfold. Seal the edges of the crusts together by pinching. With a sharp knife make some slits in the top to "vent" during cooking.
