I was in Lord and Taylors this weekend and we went in through the evening wear section. I told DH so much for wearing something like that (strappy number) on the cruise. He looked at me with a cocky smile and wink and quickly kept moving along out of there. You gotta love a man to know enough to not comment and to dazzle me with charm that I didn't realize it until we were out of that section. :lmao:
Yes, gotta love a man with that kind of sensitivity. :lovestruc :thumbsup2

I don't watch DH or AR. Wow. A show of disboard autonomy! Yeah sure I'll be on fansofrealitytv trying to figure out what you all are referencing.
We don't watch any of those shows either. We're not going to know what people are talking about in 20 years when they talk about way back when TV was good. :sad2:

NO NO NO Recruiting!
That may prevent upgrades on the only 70% full ship!
John1
But, John1, wouldn't we have even better chance for upgrade if LOTS of people wanted to book but only wanted CAT11. Wouldn't they move us to make more room in the lower cat? :confused3 Hmmm.

Yes, I like lemmon squares, and Amy is a great cook (when she wants to) and I am less than average. (if you are keeping track for Carl) My best shot is Pizza.
I don't even cook on the grill anymore, and have relinquished even that "guy" cooking to Amy.
John1
Same at our house, John1. However, it is not because DrHug cannot grill a good steak. He just always has something better to do. :sad2:

Good Luck John. I do wish you luck. Times like that really make you appreciate how tough it must be for a single parent!
Thanks for the info. I sent you a reply!
Yep. We agreed that if either wanted out of this marriage, that person would have to take all 3 kids, the animals and the bills. Neither of us was going anywhere! ;) :lmao: :rotfl2:

Well, off to bed for me . . .
Tomorrow IS Monday after all.
It will be a rough three days - Amy is leaving for St. Paul, so I have to take care of DD, dog, etc, and deal with work and meetings.
The life of a single parent for the next three days.
Wish me luck - I have to take Sophia back to the office with me for a meeting tomorrow night. Portable DVD players do come in handy.
John1
:grouphug: Hang in there! I can appreciate what you will be going thru for the next few days. I can't believe that I haven't had to do that since 9/1!!!! This is a new record having DH home.

I'm done with Pumpkin Frappachinos by the way. See I was swayed by the charm TWICE now. Two gorgeous charming Starbucks "dudes" talked me into them at two different locations (not my usual location) and they made them terribly! Too strong not enough pumpkin. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't ask for them to be fixed or anything. I just nodded like a goof ball that that they were fine. (Very un-me like). Let me tell you no one should look that beautiful. One was prettier than a woman - the other was hunky - smile that gleemed with that cartoon sparkle. :rotfl2: See, do you know why now DD can't cruise when she is a teen!
I love those things!!! I get mine creme based not coffee based!! THe workers are always so nice and hunky!!

I'd ship them to you if I knew they were going to keep. DD thought it was ok. DH won't eat it because chocolate is on the list for kidney stone producers as a no no, so he has eliminated it vs. eating it here and there (yup that would be my husband but after two terrible occurrences I don't blame him).

Unfortunately, Carla has now hooked me on Heroes though . . . however, since I keep forgetting what night it is on, and when, I keep buying episodes on iTunes for my iPod - something I NEVER thought I would do - pay for TV (other than cable that is).

Wow, Brack.
My first 2 years were Carmichael years; Smith Center opened in January of junior year. Spent a lot of time in ticket distribution lines, but I got almost every game, including the Smith Center opening game (in the rafters). Michael Jordan's last year was my freshman year; got to meet him when he dated a friend of mine.

I'm almost caught up! I've been busy the last two days, yesterday was pictures for the boys, basketball, and our neighborhood block party. Today we served brunch to 30 people! I love brunch so it was fun. We had quite a few tables set up and lots of food and even with just one oven I managed to get the timing right... a near miracle for me. My neighbor kindly offered up her oven and fridge for me but I didn't need them. I also had a little late night inspiration and after I got most of the food ready, tables set and centerpieces arrange, etc. I made this for a blank wall that's been bugging me: http://scrapvillage.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=26014

I figured out what is wrong with this stupid computer today. When I was upstairs working in DD's room she turned on our TV & started watching Nick. DH hooked that TV back up to the splicer out in the garage. It has been affecting our signal again. ACK!!!! I am wondering if I need to get an OHM blocker for that TV too? I had to wait until after DH was over to connect the line from the wall directly to the modem so that I could get DS the McD's hot wheels & not have to go back there in a while. Now both kids will be happy. :) Of course, DD already knows that she isn't going to get those dolls when I get them in the mail. She has to be good for at least a week.

oh good, I like to think that they had a Disney vacation all week.

Becka, I love the map, I have been looking for something like it for my own web site. I hope to add it in January. Thanks for finding it.

Congrats on the pirate: Becka it's good to see you back!

I realized I only represent DH as this person who thinks this side of me is nuts. He is actually such a sweetheart. He just brought up a lemon square for me. He just made them this evening. He cooks by the way. I do not. Well I could but he's better at it and he actually LIKES it.
I remember when DH would cook for us on his days off...doesn't happen so much any more, cooking AND days off. :sad2: Although I think he was trying to kill us with all the butter he uses!

Uhm - did I tell you guys I uhm forgot my anniversary. Someone I work with (many actually) said "You are such a guy". Now I'm not sure that is a compliment but I did send an email - remember I was in a conference and had to be there at 7:30 so I had to leave my house super early. I got a lovely card for him as well. I am a great card shopper - love them. Anyway I am of the belief that I would prefer to be treated well the other 364 days that are not our anniversary. That sounds like a cop out but I honestly do believe that - he knows it so I was covered okay okay - I am such a stereotypical guy
Last January we BOTH forgot!! Sad I know, but no one could complain!! :teeth: It really isn't that big of a deal for us though. I loke your philosophy Carla! :thumbsup2

It is 7:47 and DD has been sleeping on the couch for a while and DS is upstairs reading a book yawning away. :) Today was a little better. DD was a little testy in Church and didn't like the cheese crackers that I brought for some reason. OY!!! The kids got along pretty well today too. DD only messed with DS a couple times...which is a great improvement for her! I took out all of the winter clothes for DD and went thru them getting rid of the ones that are too small. I also went thru the summer ones so there are several piles in the hallway that need to be boxed up & dropped off to get them out of the house. I am about half way thru taking the summer stuff down & putting the winter stuff up....but I did clear everything so that I can put DD to bed. ;)
I used to do this every year. Now I just keep them all out throughout the year. I still have to go through them as the seasons change, but it keeps the boxes in the attic to a minimum. :thumbsup2

My DH doesn't cook much but he does 95% of the grilling, and since we are low-carbing right now, we're doing alot of grilling (so I have not cooked as much lately...).
My internet connection has been acting real funny again lately! You don't know how many times I called them in the last year or so. :furious: Finally, we have a direct line and it had been doing pretty good, but for the last week it keeps needing to be reset again and again! OMG - gasp how di I miss that Tana is a crafty person. Oh no I feel so deficient. Tana will you still converse with me? I am so intimidated by scrapbooking. It's like another job or something.
Carla of course I still love ya! But I will be mighty annoyed if you are serious about feeling deficient! I do think that scrapbooking can be really overwhelming, especially the last few years because there has been such an explosion of new products in the industry. If you're into it and you enjoy it, you can start with some kits and make some great basic projects and keep it simple. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it and don't feel badly, it's supposed to be a relaxing creative outlet artistic fun kind of thing. I think everyone should have hobbies to use those other parts of your brain, but it has to be something you enjoy, not something to add more stress or guilt to your life.
In my former life I was a CPA, I would have sworn I was not creative at all. I was just going to do one small baby album for my ds. 7 years later I am completely addicted -- it is really fun to create once you relax and enjoy it. I have to be careful because I have a design team for my site and they are all really talented, published scrappers and it can be very intimidating to be around them. Here are some of their projects: http://www.scrapvillage.com/City-Planners-Photo-Swap.htm But as long as *I* like my stuff, and my kids enjoy looking through their books, I am happy!

Tana that was such a sweet message - I think I fall into it would overwhelm me category as far as scrapbooking. I have a lot of friends who do it and when I go into their "rooms" my eyes glaze over. I must admit however when I see the gadgets they use - those are intriguing. Another unfortunate mark to replace the Saturn sooner vs. later (bummer) and reminds me that since it has a donut on it I will probably need to drop DH off at the train station...

Perhaps you can get him to chill out - he's gone to the extreme about the diet. Oh, please don't tell me he'll have gallstones next.
About 3 years ago I had terrible pain in my upper stomach I thought I was dying. Nothing helped, hot, cold. eating, not eating, it just kept getting worse. Finally I had to go to the emergency room and I had pancreatitis(not sure of spelling)... Of course, before the hospital told me I had this they sent me home. They gave me some pain medicine and some Flexall, a muscle relaxer and sent me home. After being home about 1 hour the phone rings, keep in mind it is now 3:00AM, I answer it and it is the Dr from the hospital who proceeds to tell me that I need to come back to the hospital to be admitted. They had released me using someone elses chart, some guy with back spasms, and I had to be admitted since I had pancratitis, thought to be caused by a gallstone.
Needless to say I was a little upset and after having the Flexall that was meant for the guy I had a hard time standing because my muscles were really relaxed!!! Anyway went in and had to have complete "belly rest" for 3 days!! Do you know that every TV show and commercial has food in it! i couldn't even have water, Just IV's.
I was like Carl for the first year. Watched everything I ate, cut out all fat and lost about 60 lbs. Well the memory of the pain has faded, like with childbirth, the reason you have more than one child, and I have gained weight and eat everything in sight!!!
Oh well.. I hope I didn't jinx myself by telling the story!!

I still don't have a crockpot, but I do have a dishwasher!! Do tell some recipies PJ! :teeth:
Dishwasher Salmon with a Piquant Dill Sauce
4 6-ounce salmon fillets
4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
heavy duty aluminum foil
Prep
1. Cut two 12-inch square sheets of aluminum foil.
2. Place two fillets side by side on each square and fold up the outer edges.
3. Drizzle 1 tablespoon lemon juice over each fillet. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Fold and pinch the aluminum foil extra tightly to create a watertight seal around each pair of fillets. Make sure the packet is airtight by pressing down on it gently with your hand. If air escapes easily, rewrap.
5. Place foil packets on the top rack of the dishwasher. Run dishwasher for the entire "normal" cycle.
6. When cycle is complete, take out salmon, discard foil, place one fillet on each plate, and spoon a generous serving of dill sauce overtop.
Don’t have a dishwasher? Bake foil-wrapped packets in a preheated 400°F oven for 12 minutes.

Everyone this week should make sure they have all of their birth certificates and/or passports. I would hate to see anyone in our group left behind because they misplaced their identification. I plan on going to our safe deposit box tomorrow just to verify.

I do that with DS's clothes for the most part. Some hang in his closet & the rest go under his bed with the bigger clothes. DD just doesn't have the room for it. They both have the small closets and hers is packed with each season's clothes....along with the dresser. Her clothes are under her bed & on the top shelf of the closet along with a couple zip bags in the garage. Mine are completely switched out. Those all go in tubs in the cedar closet out there.

Both kids were in DS's bed tickling each other at 6:10 am!!! :( I made them go downstairs to watch TV & DS fixed each of them a bowl of cheerios with milk. I couldn't rest well though & hated when the alarm went off at 7. :( I am dragging now.
Thanks....I don't think it will be too bad...at least I hope not!!!
You are a proper Diser...making your kids get their own food!!! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Today my Girlfriend and I are taking the kids to Chuck E Cheese. My friends daughter wanted to go for her BDay....so we are going. My son is so excited. We go in the morning and then they play while it is virtually empty!
wow you are brave!
I took the girls to Chuck E Cheese once for a birthday party, I was alone....and OMG. They needed some kind of drug for the parents at the door. I have not heard so much screaming and carrying on in my life. I was so worn out at the end and the girls were just raring to go!

Did I read...oh....several hundred pages ago... :rolleyes1 ...that someone took the manifest and the ships layout and put people's name on thier cabin locations?
Just asking b/c I wanted to start to do that but I'm having trouble pulling a readable ships deck layout.
If someone has done that - let me know so I can cross this off my list.
THANKS!!!

I love jury duty and always hope that I get called!! It just seems that most times I get called we are going on vacation and I have to be excused! Alathough the last time I went I was in the courtroom but never made it to the jury box and another time I sat all day waiting to be called and the defendent ended up taking a deal at the last minute.
I also wanted to do jury duty. I never had the chance yet, but I want to. Always cancelled or excused before. Call me crazy, but I think he it would be very interesting. My mom has been too many times to count. She always gets picked!

my sister....drives me crazy. Somehow she thinks the whole world is supposed to revolve around HER....
She just called, got her Halloween party tickets and wants to know if I included her and her boyfriend in our dinner plans which I made like 150 days ago. That would be a no dear.
She hung up on me! Brat!

Here is your Monday Laugh.....got it via email...had pictures...but they don't copy well...
Eat right!
Make sure you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies.
Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin C.
Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build your immune system.
Walk for at least an hour a day,
go for a swim,
take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.
Wash your hands often.
If you can't wash them, keep a bottle of antibacterial stuff around.
Get lots of fresh air. Open doors & windows whenever possible.
Try to eliminate as much stress from your life as you can.
Get plenty of rest.
OR
Take the doctor's approach.
Think about it...
When you go for a shot, what do they do first?
They Clean your arm with alcohol...
Why?
Because Alcohol KILLS GERMS.
So.......
I walk to the liquor store. (exercise)
I put lime in my Corona...(fruit)
Celery in my Bloody Mary (veggies)
Drink outdoors on the bar patio..(fresh air)
Tell jokes, laugh....(eliminate stress)
Then pass out. (rest)
The way I see it...
If you keep your alcohol levels up, flu germs can't get you!

and Desperate Housewives is so not meeting my expectations this year. I wish Six Feet Under were still on and SATC.
What happened to all the juicy stuff? Was it too much for regular TV?

Becka - your DS is allergic to nuts, etc?
and I guess I never realized the peanut butter was age 2!!
No not my DS but my DH. Thankfully DS does not have the same allergies and so far it is looking good for DD. She is not allergic to beans or peas so we are hoping not to nuts either but we are pretty careful about keeping her away from them until she is at least 2.

We have officially entered a new realm....diswasher recipes. Only on this thread!!!
